This definitely isn't the best pho in Houston, but the value and convenient midtown location earn this place 5 stars. I often get a small pho ($9) and grilled pork banh mi ($6) that equates to a huge $15 lunch. Sometimes I take half the banh mi to go as a snack for later. The pho is solid, but again not the best, and there's not a ton of meat in it which isn't surprising given the low price. The banh mi is above average. The spring rolls are also really good. The tables are clean, it's fast, cheap, and the staff are friendly. Simply Pho is in my midtown rotation for when I'm seeking a $10-15 fresh and reasonably healthy lunch. read more

Been back a few times to dine in but mostly delivery or pick up. The last 3 times haven't been highly impressive. The 1st time the food never came. I received emails but never got anything. I called the restaurant and they kept saying the delivery driver picked up. After 2 hours, I called and spoke to the manager (or owner) and he went to look and said they never made it. I told them cancel and I'd order somewhere else, he insisted they would make it right away but after being told twice earlier that it was coming, I didn't trust it. The last 2 deliveries the orders were wrong. The first time they gave me beef pho instead of chicken pho (I was sick) and the broth was halfway full so we had to add more water and our own beef broth cubes. We also ordered a side of rice that was not delivered. And the spring rolls were busted open both of them so we ate them basically deconstructed. This time we ordered chicken broth w/no cilantro and they gave us beef broth with a lot of cilantro. The banh mis were filled with carrots and cilantro but had hardly any meat. In the city this is our favorite spot for banh mis and this was the first time that the meat was very minimal. We ordered the grilled pork and there were about 5 small pieces lined next to each other and the cold combo which is my favorite looked like they had cut the meat portions smaller. It was also overstuffed with carrots and cilantro. The banh mis were still good, I love their toasted bread but the meal was lackluster. Tried Simply Pho for the first and last time. The service we received was terrible, the food was awful, and the cleanliness of the establishment was very dirty and dingy. This two star experience started as soon as we were seated. We waited over 10 minutes before anyone came to our table to take our drink order, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. During the time we waited for assistance several staff members just stood near the front by the register instead of checking on guests. It wasn't a great first impression and set the tone for the rest of our visit. We ordered a large P12- steak and brisket pho with 4 shrimps $1 a shrimp, A12- fried chicken dumplings, A16- beef spring rolls , and can soda. The steak and brisket had no distinctive taste nor visual appearance so we didn't know which one we were eating I just knew it was all bland and fatty. Adding the chili oil gave the broth flavor and the shrimp helped. The fried chicken dumplings were good, the beef from the spring rolls tasted better than the meat in the broth, and the peanut sauce was the only item with flavor. The restaurant was very spacious with many tables, chairs, and enough room to accommodate small and large groups. The wall we sat next to was unfortunately very dirty I didn't post all the photos, but I'm sure with a wipe down it would be better. We've been to a lot of pho restaurants, but this one is our favorite. It's close to our house, the prices are reasonable, and the food is consistently delicious. The pho is always flavorful and cooked perfectly. I also have to mention the bánh mì. The baguette is exactly how it should be--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with a generous amount of filling. We usually get the BBQ chicken bánh mì, and it always has the perfect balance of protein and pickled vegetables. The service is another reason we keep coming back. The staff is attentive, never forgets anything we ask for, and always checks in to make sure everything is good or if we need anything else. Great service like this has honestly been hard for us to find in Houston, so we really appreciate it. They also have their own parking lot in the back, which makes parking easy. Came here on a Monday night with a party of 3. The restaurant was busy but not full. However, plenty of tables were unusable because they were still covered in dirty bowls and leftover food. We ended up having to go up to the counter ourselves just to get someone's attention so a table could be cleaned for us. Service only went downhill from there. We ordered spring rolls that never arrived. We checked in with our server three separate times, and each time he told us they were "working on it." After we had already finished our pho, he finally came back to tell us they had run out of pork for the spring rolls and asked if we wanted a shrimp-only replacement. At that point, we just asked for the item to be removed from the bill. Poor communication, slow follow-up, and overall disorganized service really ruined the experience. TLDR; i have mixed feelings on Simply Pho. THE GOOD:::: **Vermicelli Noodle with Shrimp & Eggroll: hard to go wrong with this dish. The fish sauce was well seasoned with savory notes and garlic chilli to an adequate level. You're able to dress the vermicelli noodles with the sauce without going overboard on flavor. Shrimp and egg rolls meant expectations, fresh and crispy. THE BAD::: ** Pho: this was quite the disappointment. The broth, which is the Cornerstone of the dish, was too overly salty. Had the chef tasted their broth before serving it, this could have easily been reconciled. Alternatively, if the broth has been simmering for a long period of time throughout the day, I could understand why the broth became saltier. However, this could have easily been remedied if the chef tasted the broth prior to serving the dish. In addition, the amount of vegetable toppings for Basil and bean sprouts were very lackluster. When I asked for more toppings, I was just given a couple of lemon wedges instead of bean sprout and basil. Service could use some improvement. Our server never came back to check on our water refill levels. Maybe we caught the staff on a bad day? Still ... understandable but not permissible. Broth is clear and full of flavor, the serving sizes are generous and the price point is incredibly low for the quality of food you receive. i randomly stumbled upon this when my friend and i were craving a banh mi and i needed a good vegetarian option. the tofu is covered in a sweet sauce, and the banh mi is loaded. i like that they use butter pate and not a mayo (personal preference). service was fast and they didn't rush us out despite being done with our meals and clearing our table. they even continued to offer refilling our beverages. it's super clean inside, spacious with a lot of seating, and their own designated parking lot! a RARITY in downtown lol read more

The customer service from the lady manager was great but I just drop two stars. Here are the reasons: I ordered the pepper steak, took one bite and handed it back to the waiter. It wasn't edible. The beef was very tough and you can tell it was a low grade cut of beef. I sent it back. The manager lady who was super nice at first countered and said the cook asked for me to pay for half since I ate half. I said maam, how is the possible ? Thank you so much to the Simply Pho staff for feeding so many people on such short notice and taking us in like champions. They were very accommodating to us in setting up tables, took our orders quickly, and were able to dish our food that was fresh, delicious, and fast. Four years later and I can say that Simply Pho is still the bomb.com for Vietnamese food. I used to live across the street and this was my tried and true spot for quick, dependable, and delicious takeout. Since moving, it's still a favorite. Although my check-ins don't reflect it, I've had Simply Pho dozens of times. They have a huge number of options including a number of vegetarian and vegan options like vegan pho and tofu-based dishes which can sometimes be harder to find in Vietnamese restaurants. My favorites are the tofu vermicelli, lemon grass tofu stir fry, and of course the $5 tofu banh mi. Since my last review they have increased their prices just slightly but it's still one of the most reasonably priced Vietnamese restaurants inside the loop. I typically get takeout and it's super easy to order through DoorDash, Grubhub, or even directly through Yelp. Trusty, tasty, and timely, that's a win in my book. read more

This restaurant in Houston's Midtown has great prices and its own free parking lot! It is a simple and spacious restaurant with very large portions. My friend and I came here for dinner, and we got the Vietnamese coffee as it is free on Tuesdays, but that was a mistake because neither of us could sleep that night. It was a very tasty drink though. Neither of us are big coffee drinkers, but it tasted so good because it was really sweet. Probably not ideal for someone who prefers the natural taste of coffee. I think I was deceived by the sweetness because the effects were definitely strong. I had the cold-cut combo banh mi, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The price was very good. My friend got one of the rice plates, which was such a big portion that she only finished half of it. We both enjoyed our meals, and the food came out very fast. Simply Pho is my favorite Pho restaurant in Houston! I have been coming here since 2013 and it never disappoints. The service is fast and friendly. Even when they are busy! Pho is great. The vermicelli bowls are great. You can't go wrong! Large restaurant with a large parking lot in the back. They do a ton of to-go business so don't let it deter you if you see a bunch of people waiting at the counter. They are likely waiting on their to-go order. The restaurant is all windows on 2 sides, so it's a nicely lit place with natural light. My favorites are Pho (obviously) and their grilled pork Bahn Mi BM1. It's the best I have had anywhere! Please read before supporting this business. I visited Simply Pho on 12/29/25 around 8:50 PM. Outside the restaurant was a homeless man who was not bothering anyone. I approached him and asked if I could buy him food he never asked me for money, just said he was hungry. I went inside and was seated, but for 20-30 minutes no one came to give us menus, take our order, or even acknowledge us. The only reason I stayed was because I had already placed an online to-go order for the homeless man outside. During this time, customers who arrived after us were served drinks and food. Eventually, a waiter came and took our order. By that point, the homeless man had to leave, so I was left with the to-go food. Shortly after, another homeless man came inside asking for food. I went to the cashier to check if my to-go order was ready so I could give it to him. At that moment, staff began aggressively kicking him out. I told them he was with me. The owner (a short man with glasses) started yelling at me, repeatedly saying "he already ate," in an aggressive and confrontational manner. I calmly explained that I was a paying customer and what I chose to do with my food did not affect him. The owner then yelled at me several times, saying, "Maybe if you had a business you'd understand." That assumption was unnecessary, disrespectful, and completely uncalled for. By this point, over an hour had passed and my dine-in food was still not ready. I asked the waiter how long it would take and was told they were still making the pho. I asked to cancel my order. I attempted to pay only for my drink, but they still tried to charge me for the food that had never been served. As we were leaving, I told the homeless man to leave with us so he wouldn't be further humiliated. The owner followed him outside and continued berating him. I was so overwhelmed by the situation that I left in tears. This experience was not just poor customer service it was deeply upsetting and dehumanizing. I will not be returning, and I strongly encourage others to think twice before supporting a business that treats people this way. read more

I called before going here and asked what time is the cut off to seat customers, and the lady said 9:30pm. So we headed over there and made it around 9:15pm to eat dinner. The place was packed-- indoor dining and take-out order line was so busy. The lady responsible for seating people didn't get to us because she was so busy and someone else serving others ended up having to seat us. The place was average and lots of seating. We were seated after 10 minutes. Again, we were overlooked by the lady who was taking orders and the lady who sat us at our table, finally took our order. They didn't have a system and weren't working together for things to flow smoothly. The lady that was supposed to be taking orders (the one who didn't seat us or take our order) looked overworked and overwhelmed. And I was very understanding about that. She was cleaning, taking orders and serving. That's a lot for one person to do, during high traffic. 1. Appetizer: Vietnamese Egg Rolls 7/10 **flavor was good-- but not my crunch level preference, there's a soft wrapper pull when you bite into it, if that makes sense)** 2. Cup of fried rice w/ shrimp 0/10 **No flavor, no saltiness, tasted burnt, shrimp texture seems liked it was boiled and just added to the fried rice. They served the food pretty fast. They were almost closing so some of the ladies were clearing and cleaning tables. The same lady who overlooked us twice, was cleaning the table next to us and accidentally sprayed the cleaning spray on my husband's elbow-- almost splattered in his pho. We decided to just let it go and just address it before we left. And we did. The guy we informed just said, they usually spray the cleaning spray and block it with a towel to avoid spraying others. My husband told him they should just spray the towel, then wipe the tables. Also, they started putting up chairs towards the end of our dinner and some lady from the front counter yelled across the room and told the ladies to stop putting up chairs. Felt bad for the ladies TBH. That lady didn't have to yell at them like that. Not very please with everything. I won't write off a restaurant based on one bad experience. Oh, let me tell you about the mess that is Simply Pho, because I am STILL heated! So, my manager and I went in for some pho, right? My boss is a serious pho fan--like, she lives for that broth. We're sitting there, waiting for our order, and we notice something real shady: every to-go container had different levels of broth. Some were full, some looked like they were on a broth budget. So she politely asks the manager (or whatever he thinks he is) if he could make sure hers is filled all the way because she ain't playin' when it comes to her broth. He looks at her all calm, saying, "Oh, all the containers get the same amount." Mmmhmm, okay, sure. Fast forward, we get our food, and her broth is lower than mine. I mean, it's right there, plain as day. So she asks again, just as politely as before, and this man has the AUDACITY to say, "They're all the same." Sir, you can't be serious. Look at the picture! Anybody with half a brain can see one has more than the other. But wait, it gets better. When she asks for more broth--because all she wanted was what she PAID for--he says she has to pay extra! EXCUSE ME?! You want me to pay for something that should've been in there to begin with?! And then, like we asked for his whole life story, he starts talking about how he's been in business for 20 years, blah blah blah, and how he knows what he's doing. Baby, if you knew what you were doing, we wouldn't be standing here talking about broth! Get it together! If you want to be disrespected and short-changed, go ahead and visit Simply Pho. But if you have any self-respect and know what good service looks like, I'd suggest you take your money somewhere else. Trust me, you won't miss a thing here! Bye. We've been here a few times for their pho and definitely like it a lot. We tried their lemongrass steak during one of our recent visits and it was very good. It had a lot of flavor and you wouldn't need to add anymore sauces to it. If you do want a sauce then ask them for their lemon and pepper sauce, that would go well with it. It's a pretty big place with lots of seatings. It gets busy during lunch time but for the most part they have lots of seatings available. Their service is ok depending on who is serving you. Sometimes they come pretty often to check on you and do interrupt your conversations. Overall it is a great place for a good and reasonably sized pho. read more

Walked out after waiting 25 mins for my pho. Saw people who ordered after me get their orders. After the third person I walked out and went down the street to my usual spot where I was sat down, my order taken, and food brought all within 4 minutes. Not to mention staff is rude, I don't come to pho for excellent service but at least decent service. Never been to a pho place that takes almost 30 mins to serve food.
