Top right left of the meat is a glob of pate. Best part! Special banh mi
Matthew P.

As sad as this sounds I'm so glad I finally got to try Roostar! I ordered the special Banh mi which is equivalent to the combo Banh mi anywhere else. It's always my go-to and how I judge Banh mi places. It was really good and the amount of pate was very generous! Good size banh mi and good amount of meat. I always like when the worker ask if we want jalapeños or not cause I usually forgot to ask without. Only thing is there was a smell near the drinks. Every time I walked by it smelled like water that's been sitting there for a long time. It kind of threw off my appetite. Other than that great food and place

Crispy Tofu Banh Mi

The crispy tofu banh mi was tasty! I had a DoorDash credit to use and opted to pick up a sandwich on the way home from work. They add a subtle garlic hint to the tofu which really elevates the sandwich. The bread was crispy on the outside without being overly dry and the portion of vegetables - jalapeños, cucumber, pickled carrot and cilantro - was well balanced with the amount of tofu. I'm a big hoisin fan and added this to my sandwich as a final compliment. Yum. Takeout orders are packaged with care in a disposable clamshell box to prevent any crushing which was also nice. While I just had the banh mi, I'm eager to try some of the other items on their menu. The customizable box sounds great with your choice of protein, base (rice, noodles, salad) and sauce of your choice. A modern vermicelli of sorts. I will say that the vegetarian options are somewhat limited overall and strangely, the tofu options cost more than several of the meat options. Hmmm... The restaurant has ample parking out front, a nice outdoor patio, and plenty of space inside to enjoy your meal. A great spot for a casual bite to eat alone or with friends and family.

6 Piece Wings with beef curry rice side

Service was great! Cashier was very helpful and manager walked around checking on people! Place is clean and food was really tasty. Not a hole in the wall place, professional with systems in place. Some traditional items but also items that are approachable for others.

Gogi Fries Grilled Pork Banh Mi

This was one of the best Bahn Mi places I've ever been too. I loved it! This will be one of go to places for bahn mi's! The gogi fries weren't my favorite and more on the heavier side, but it was worth trying. Service was fast. The place was cozy but in the smaller side. It had around 20 people's worth of seating with booths and tables. It seems more like a talk out type of vibe.

There's really nothing to not like about this fast food Vietnamese spot... Tonight, I went for my usual ribeye and fried rice, plus some egg rolls with a side of fish sauce... I also tried a bit of their curry chicken, which was fantastic too... The service is always quick, and the food is consistently fresh and tasty...

Beef curry and special banh mi

Had roostars catered once, but I finally went back today! Ordered the yellow beef curry and banh mi, both were really great choices back then, and now. Very flavorful, and portion sizes were pretty good for the price. Service was standard and the neon lights on the wall were a nice touch!

Protein Grilled Chicken Box

Vibe was decent. I had ordered the protein bowl with the lemon grass chicken, fried rice, pork spring roll with avocado and jalapeño sauce. And for my drink I had got the lychee tea ( highly recommend) Everything was a 10/10 !!!

The Special

Walked in here on a Sunday morning and there was no wait. I placed my order with the staff and I was given a buzzer to let me know when my order was ready. It took about 5 minutes or less to get my order. Before I could even taste it, everything looked delicious. I was super happy they have a combo option because that way I could try their other food items. I don't mind having half a sandwich because the fries were enough with it. The banh mi was amazing! From the bread to the ingredients, I was extremely impressed. The meat and fresh vegetables were a good ratio. The garlic aioli mayo/butter was tasty. The bread, oh my goodness the bread! The bread was the highlight of the banh mi. The inside was soft while the outside was warm and toasted perfectly. I can rarely find a place that serves you fresh bread like they do here. The sidewinder fries were made by order so it came out hot and crispy fried; just the way I like it! My favorite was the Special! I liked the grilled Pork, too. The lychee tea was refillable and that was awesome. There was plenty of space to move around and seats were available outside with a roof.

Grilled Pork Bowl

Kids beef bowl

This use to be one of my favorite. Seems like it's under new management or something, it's changed. Food isn't as good, less meats, and even the ABC soup isn't as good. To top it off, they made the beef kid meal rare and management just said, that's just how we cook it. I hope this isn't at all locations but I would not recommend this one.

Food is great. They water down sauce and won't give extra sauce for egg rolls. Lame. Banh mi is delicious

Wow. Glad we checked this out while in the r Galleria area. We saw this restaurant on TV as a top…read morerated NY deli. Lots of seating, great wait staff, and the sandwiches are gigantic--as they should be for the price. $30 for a sandwich on average. We split an open face pastrami (which they brought an extra plate) and we are glad we did. The potato salad is tiny. Too much sandwich for one but not enough potato salad for two! The pickles they provide before your sandwich arrives are yummy- not like a traditional out of the bar pickle. These are what I remember from NYC. Garlic and not sweet. We also had the apple pie alamode. Also pricey and gigantic. It was warm and delicious. Glad we tried this icon. We went at lunch and they get quite the crowd. You are not rushed at all. You can even take some bakery items to go--if you are too full to eat there. Amazing selection of cookies, rugala, black and white cookies and more.

A big part of the decades long success at Local Foods has been their commitment to consistency…read more Their casual setting with excellent service is one thing, but quality executed food that is simple and seasonal will always go a long way. Before their recent expansions to Austin, it all began here in Rice Village exactly 15 years ago. The vibes are contemporary and casual, with the kind of space that fits for just about any scenario. Whether it's a solo meal, a lunch date, or a group led affair, the experience is almost always an excellent one. Start by ordering at the counter and find a seat where the food will brought directly to the table. So much of their variety caters to all sorts of dietary restrictions from vegan to gluten free to nut free. Their spicy crispy brussels sprouts ($10) are a nice starter, as is the squash "onion" rings ($12). The local power bowl ($16) is a classic and I've always enjoyed the brown rice and quinoa combo. Their chicken "posolé" is solid, and I love the large hominy bits along with the clear but green tint of a broth. The chicken shawarma bowl ($20) is an interesting mix that includes pickled beets and strawberries, along with their market cheddar burger ($17) and fabulous twice cooked fries. The carrot cupcake is strangely addicting, and I think their gluten free brownie is a bit of a sleeper. Some of their items didn't jive with me previously, such as an underwhelming cashew queso ($9), a semi-laughable Vietnamese steak bowl ($22), and their semi-gringo version of a banh mi ($15). It's not that these items are bad per se, but they definitely don't live up to the same standard that I feel their other dishes do best. Where they hit the biggest home run is their customer service. Everyone working behind the counter does their best to deliver and they almost always do by staying on top of refills, cleanups, and customer greets. I've always enjoyed my experiences here and look forward to every visit.

One friend had the Thai steak salad and I had the veggie burger made with quinoa, beets and other vegetables. Wow...is what I will say!!! It was so flavorful and the focaccia bun (not gluten free) was incredible! Plus the double cooked fries were delicious! Oh, the side potato salad and kale salad were also delicious! I look forward to being back there next time I'm in Houston!!
