Yum yum yum!! This place fixed my cravings for Vietnamese food. I got the Banh Hoi Beef and its pressed vermicelli with veggie and steak, and loved every bite of it. Service was friendly and it has a large interior with ample seating. Food: 9.5/10 Value: 9/10 Service: 9/10 Atmosphere: 8/10

Dinner in Houston, Texas... This is my niece's favorite restaurant. She said that each time she returns to Rice University from an overseas trip or a vacation back home in Honolulu, she dines here before going back to the dorm. Why? Because it's only one metro stop away fromthe university, it's consistent, reliable, clean, and good! I agree with her! Except: She didn't know where to park... LOL! I drove around the block and we figured out that the free parking lot is before the building! When we entered, we were greeted warmly. There were other Asian customers dining in, so that reassured me of the legitimacy of authentic Viet cuisine. I ordered my usual: vermicelli with grilled pork and Imperial rolls. The grilled pork was on the tougher, dry side and had some inedible gristle. Noodles were nice and chewy. Imperial rolls were crunchy, but had a slightly odd tart flavor, Veggies were fresh! Presentation was beautiful! Overall, it was a very satisfying meal! Thanks for the convenient restroom and spacious, elegant environment!

This is one of my favorite places downtown for lunch, dinner, and even late night. The place is clean and has a good size dining room, parking is accessible with two parking lots around the back, the staff knows the menu inside out and upside down, and as for the food, they have a lot of options from pho to vermicelli, rice plates, seafood, pork, beef and anything in between. Everything is fresh every time and super tasty. Some of the can't miss items from when we go are number 1 (fresh spring rolls with vermicelli and shrimp), 2 (Vietnamese egg rolls), and 51 (flank steak with rice). Although the Pho and soups are really good as well just maybe for the colder months.

Great family-owned business with a vast traditional menu. I frequently drop in to nab a cup of coffee and egg rolls if I need to be in and out. The skin on these egg rolls is some of my favorites here as they have this balance of crunch and chew with each bite that you really have to try to understand. Coffee is not overwhelmingly sweet which I enjoy and not over diluted like most places. If you get a chance to dine in, their Shaken Beef is amazing and if you like soup, you can't go wrong with either their Pho (Vietnamese Noodle Soup), Bo Kho (Beef Stew), or Chicken Curry. Service has always been great every time I've come. Whether I'm seated at the bar or at a table, servers have always greeted me with a smile and the service time from when you're seated till your meal is out is pretty fast. Parking is limited in the front so turn in to the left just before the restaurant, and there's plenty of parking to the left and rear of the building. Enjoy!

The food was really delicious. The ambiance was really nice. It was extremely busy after we've been seated, the waiter wasn't as active as I would've liked. I got the Bo Luc Lac with broccoli added it was really good !

I loved the grilled pork summer roll, and it was my first time ordering the hu tieu w soup, pork broth. It was interesting to try, but I'll get beef broth next time. The portion was amazing, we had leftovers because we were so stuffed, The fried spring rolls were a table favorite, along w the fishsauce dipping. The ambiance was welcoming and the staffs made us laugh. Interesting confusing bathroom, haha. But clean and grand.

I love the food here. I'm not sure if it's the late night or it's actually really really good but I come here whenever I get a chance and I always try to order at least one new thing so that I can always tell people that you know, this is one of my favorite places because... It's always a little bit chaotic but what late night they eat spot isn't? You may have a little bit of a wait time and the waiter is not going to do a lot of chitchatting, but, the food is gonna come out fast and it is gonna be it's gonna be what you want. You will definitely see me in there any given weekend night with friends after a night out or a night in and deciding to going to some food.

Bun Bo Hue (Hot and Spicy Noodle Soup with Sliced Beef)

Vietnamese late night dinner spot!!! We came here on a Friday around 11 PM and I couldn't believe how many people was in this place. It's a nice little family restaurant. They immediately sat down and brought our drinks. I ordered Bun Bo Hue because that's the only dish that I tried before as in Vietnamese my date order garlic beef and it seems like that's the best in the menu I had it was delicious soft tender packed with flavor. My soup was good, but I have to say is not the best one I've had it could do a little bit more spice, especially on the broth but overall it's a good dish and I finished it. It comes with some sprouts on the side and jalapeño slices. There's a bunch of options of eggrolls, soups, noodles, dishes, fried rice that I'm sure that if you come here with a big group, there's an option for everybody to come back and try other stuff to do a full review and more complete.

A Vietnamese restaurant located in midtown that open late. I believe they open till 3 am. My boyfriend and I shared an order of shrimp spring rolls and a vermicelli bowl. The peanut sauce that came with the spring roll didn't have much peanut flavor and more hoisin flavor. The vermicelli bowl was delicious but unfortunately my boyfriend found a piece of hair in the bowl. Overall the restaurant isn't a bad pick if you need a place to eat late at night. The staff are kind and attentive. Restaurant is clean and tidy. Parking is limited but not impossible.

Today, I had dinner at Mai's Restaurant in Downtown Houston Texas, many Vietnamese dishes for you to choose from, the restaurant is located at: 3403 Milam St, Houston, TX 77002 Vietnamese restaurant serving: garlic beef, stir-fried tofu with onions, pho, fried rice, salt and pepper chicken wings, banh xeo, spring rolls, shaking chicken. The restaurant serves dishes quickly, the service is cheerful and attentive, the space is poetic, family-friendly.

The filling is placed in a pan and then a thin layer of batter made with tumeric and coconut milk yellow batter is poured on top. You wrap the lettuce around the bánh xèo/bánh khọt and dip it in the fish sauce. I got the bánh khọt and the bò né. Bánh khọt is like a mini, thicker version of bánh xèo and came with nine pieces. Their bánh khọt was crispy, sweet and savory, and went well with the fish sauce. Although the portions initally look small, they are very filling. The bò né was filling and sizzling when it came out. It also came with a side of salad. The meat was tender. I really liked the bánh khọt and would definitely come back for them. It's nice having an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in our area, close to us, so we don't have to make the trek to Bellaire every time we crave some Viet food!

I couldn't have been more wrong. Xeo Yum (#1) as it turns out is one of the most legit Vietnamese places in Midtown serving up some of the city's best banh xeo and banh khot. Located inside of a Food Hall (#2) in the back corner, they have low-key become a destination and without question, the most popular stall in the entire place. The fan base didn't happen overnight but is a direct result of Chef Cuong Nguyen's commitment to quality Vietnamese fare. Banh Xeo is their signature item, which is also known as a sizzling crepe or pancake made of rice flour, tumeric, and coconut milk. The banh xeo holds well, is perfectly crispy, and is nicely stuffed with an assortment of beans sprouts, shrimp, and some of the best grilled pork belly I've had. Another specialty item that doesn't get enough mention is their banh khot, which is similar but has a mini muffin / cupcake like appearance made in a specialty cast iron mold. This version is wonderfully crispy and pairs perfectly with fresh greens and fish sauce with some funk. It is my favorite item here. Some have argued they also serve one of the best bo ne (#3), the Vietnamese version of steak and eggs served in a skillet. The chunks of beef are nice and tender with just a tad of char, served with two fried eggs, and a banh mi baguette with a mix of butter and spare. Normally I think of spam or sausage included with the meats, but Chef Cuong's spin is with cherry tomatoes. It's a different approach and I'm not mad at it. Folks not looking for this can shoot for bo luc lac, aka shaking beef, which is also recommended. The staff here is sweet, hard-working, and very friendly. They also make a mean Vietnamese coffee and offer free iced self-serve water. The prices are what I would expect in a Midtown food hall, and there's plenty of seating. Anyone checking out the food hall need to make Xeo Yum as part of their eating itinerary. __________ (#1) A play on the Vietnamese sizzling crepe, Banh "xeo" and yum" (#2) Previously the Conservatory and now Stestí Food Hall. (#3) Boh-Neh. Not bone.

When I arrived there was nobody dining in the restaurant, that was a bit worrying, but I figured it was a bit early for the dinner crowd and late for the lunch crowd. Food & Drink - 4.5* First up was the noodles, I enjoyed them, but I wouldn't say the hype I'd heard about from some others was there. They had nice flavor, but there just wasn't anything "special." 3.5* Then it was on to the crawfish, and my oh my. Superb, the flavor is delicious and unique. This more than made up for the noodles dish. The potato and corn was good too. Service - 5* Solid. When I first arrived the owner was quietly reading a newspaper and eating his own lunch. He paused to greet me and advised that I could sit anywhere. He provided water and adequate time to determine what I wanted to order. The food came out quickly and he checked in a few times to make sure everything was ok. As time went by, the crowd of folks showing up increased quite a bit and he still managed to check in on tables consistently. Pricing - 4* This is where it was odd. Always subjective but I found the noodles to be overpriced for not only the size but what I felt was a pretty simple dish. The crawfish on the other hand was priced very competitively and made up for the overpriced noodles. I provided pics of the menu for someone to make their own assessment but in general I thought many of the dishes were pricier than they probably should be. I know inflation is certainly killing many businesses and consumers but even these felt a bit off. Overall - 4.5* This is definitely going to be one of my go tos for crawfish when in the area. The flavor is fantastic, the pricing is good, the size of them were solid. There are a couple of other dishes I may try on the next visit. The restaurant is clean, the owner is very nice, and it's a nice low key space to just enjoy a good meal with friends or family.

Upon arriving, every table was taken except our table w a reserved sign on it. The restaurant was bustling, but I could still hear my husband over the music and noise. The menu is huge!!! I didn't know where to start. But our server, Vanessa, helped us make a few choices. We started off w bánh xèo tostadas, bánh béo, & carpaccio. Then we had calamari and their steak special. I asked for a side of papaya slaw for some veggies. My favorite dish of the night was the carpaccio. So many flavors perfectly melded together. Loved the crunch of the fried onions and peanuts. 10/10 dish, in my opinion. Authentic banh xèo usually has an airier, crisp crepe, but theirs was more crunchy - great for their tostada take. Very flavorful. Each piece had one shrimp, but plenty of pork belly bites. The nuoc mam drizzled on it was tasty. Fried calamari - this is a big dish for, I believe, $'19. I prefer the dipping sauce on the side so that the batter doesn't get soggy. This did happen here, but it didn't stop us from finishing every last bite. The green sauce was good, not the usual dipping sauce for fried calamari. Steak special - they have another steak dish on their menu, but this one was pepper crusted w smashed potatoes. The potatoes were super crispy and flavorful and the steak was perfectly cooked - a beautiful pink medium rare. The portion was huge and justified the $39 price point. The staple steak dish came with a papaya slaw and I had to have it. It was bright and limey - I can see why they serve it with their steak. Bánh beo - my least favorite of the night. A bit thicker than I like. Still good, but there were a lot of other great dishes that I could easily pass on this one. Try their hibiscus artichoke tea.

We got there 15 minutes before to make sure we could find parking. They have a small lot but all the spaces were taken despite being before 6 pm on a weekday. And a few spots had noticeable broken glass so be careful. We fortunately found street parking close by; double checked the signs because I ain't getting towed for nothing. Then I double checked inside with staff to make sure where I parked was ok. On to the food: we got several happy hour appetizer items: soy garlic wings, Brussels sprouts, bao bun, roasted oysters. All was good but not amazing. I then ordered the pho tai chinh for myself - I was quite impressed with the portions and the price! Wifey got the lemongrass pork banh mi - good but not amazing. Overall I would say the food taste and portions were good, but note this is elevated Asian cuisine, so it'll run you $20-$30 minimum. Now the service - definitely super friendly staff. It was our first time there so maybe they brought out the extra friendliness. Even the chef came out and greeted us to make sure we liked the food. Waitress was very kind and checked on our table a LOT. Almost too much. Overall a good experience, yummy food, not a fan of the parking (a common problem in the Heights), and expensive for Asian food but that's expected. Enjoy!

My friends ordered the filet mignon and the chicken and they were equally as impressed! I ordered the espresso mousse for dessert which comes out in the shape of a coffee bean. Cuteeee and perfect! This place didn't disappoint and it is a must visit.

This is a higher end fine dining restaurant so you should expect the portion sizes and price to be pretty comparable to a lot of other finer dining restaurants. Overall the food's flavor was fantastic. I ordered the king salmon clay pot. I thought the salmon was so tasty! They added pepper and sauce to the salmon - It was tender and flavorful and paired nicely with white rice. The quail (not pictured below) also was super flavorful and was cooked so well it tasted like beef. The soup was also light and refreshing, similar to a west lake soup. It was thicker consistency and had cilantro and chucks of lobster. The drinks served were also super balanced. We ordered the mojito and the dragon fruit cocktail. The mojito was the right balance between minty and sweet with just a hint of alcohol flavor. For the dragon fruit cocktail, it was very fruity, on the sweeter side but not overpowering and was topped with egg whites to give it a little bit of frothiness. I will say, we are slightly underdressed to enter this establishment. Everything seemed so luxurious and many people were in formal business wear! Keep this in mind if you go! There is a parking deck right next to the location as well, both self parking and valet!
