NO KIDS AT THE BAR!!!! We want to go eat and sit at the bar and not have to sit with kids. Service, food, and everything else good.

I still can't believe this experience. I witnessed an employee, Leann, become extremely confrontational, yell at me, provide inaccurate information to the manager on duty, and attempt to refuse service to me -- all between approximately 9:30-10:00 AM this morning. I stopped by Torchy's on my way to work and experienced some of the most unprofessional customer service I've ever encountered. I walked up to the empty cashier counter and placed a to-go order through the kiosk. During the ordering process, I selected buzzer #8 before realizing the buzzers on the counter were not arranged in order, so I started looking through the stacks to locate it. Leann had seen me walk in, but had been sitting near the bar area. Once she heard me moving the buzzers, she came around the corner and immediately yelled, "What are you doing?!" I calmly explained, "I'm just looking for a buzzer because I assigned myself one before confirming where it was." Since no one was at the counter to help, I was simply trying to figure out whether I still needed the buzzer or if there was another option. She then became increasingly aggressive, grabbed the buzzers from me, and said, "It doesn't matter if nobody was up here! Don't go messing up our stuff!" I was genuinely confused by the level of hostility because I had already started putting the buzzers back in order. I responded, "I'm literally fixing them now. You can stop being disrespectful." She then told me she didn't have to stop doing anything and threatened to refuse service. After being spoken to that way, I asked if there was a manager available. She went to the back and later returned, saying the manager did not want to speak with me because they had supposedly seen what I did on camera, and that I needed to leave and slammed my food on the counter. Shortly afterward, someone walked in wearing what appeared to be a law enforcement-style shirt. Around that same time, I had taken a picture of Leann for this review. She had been walking toward me but stopped when I asked him whether he was a police officer. After he said no, she said to him, "Don't talk to my customers. Ignore her. She's been causing problems all day," which was confusing considering I had only been there a short time and had not caused any issues. Eventually, I saw who appeared to be a cook come out from the kitchen area, so I asked in Spanish where the manager was. Leann interrupted and said she had already gotten the manager, but shortly afterward the cook got the manager, Reina, & she came out. I explained what happened and asked whether it was true that she had declined to speak with me because of camera footage. Reina apologized and said, "I'm sorry this happened to you. You shouldn't have had to deal with being treated this way early in the morning. No, I did not view any cameras, I'm the only manager here. I've been trying to tell our general manager about the way she treats us and customers but they still have her here." She also helped process a refund for me since I no longer felt comfortable receiving food after the interaction. I have never experienced this level of rude and unprofessional behavior at a restaurant before. I appreciate Reina stepping in and handling the situation respectfully, but the interaction with Leann was shocking and disappointing. read more

First times visiting Torchys Taco and we were not disappointed. Greeting by Maya, she was helpful and friendly. I ordered a brisket taco, beans and rice and a drink. You are given a small "pager" of sort but to my surprise , it doesn't light up when your food is ready. It is only used for a staff to locate you to bring you the order. Seemed a bit odd but if it works- The place was decorated very eclectic. We enjoyed the place very much. A full bar is located inside . The taco was amazing with the chipotle sauce added to the top! The rice and beans topped off and complimented the taco. The only reason for 4 stars is that being our first visit, it was confusing where to get our drinks as it was located almost parallel and behind the cashier- seemed off again. The layout was just confusing. However with the great food- I will be back and would highly recommend eating at Torchys! read more

Service was slow. Took 20 minutes for an fajita plate and a single taco and I had to remind them. "Hey did you forget my order" Everyone after me was served. Shocking they did. I started putting my order in at the kiosk at 1:44 with an employee at the counter with his back to me the entire time I was halfway through putting my order in when he finally goes. Oh, I didn't see you there. So I just finished putting my order in. 20 minutes later and she had to go up to the counter and ask for something like you know my food. Not a very good look for you, which I am very familiar with Torchy's and is one of my go-tos when I'm on the road. read more

I love Torchy's tacos and specifically this location. They are always so nice. The ambience is very chill. The food is always very fresh and well spiced. Especially the queso. They are very quick with the food and we are always in out in 30 or less minutes. Amazing place! read more

After having a not-so-pleasant experience several weeks ago, we have went back a few times, and the service/consistency has been much better! I look forward to many more tacos and margaritas here in the future! read more

Torchy's was a terrible experience, I ordered queso Togo INSIDE and it took 30 minutes with I kid you not only 6 people sitting the bar while the employees continuously telling me it's coming I watched the woman at the bar order queso while I was waiting for mine .. got hers before me ! Went into Torchy's around 10:30am on a Saturday for some breakfast. Before heading out on my errands, I decided to sit at the bar to eat and re-energize. Erin at the bar, greeted me quickly and helped me pick out which breakfast tacos to try. I mentioned being a little hungry so she brought me some chips to enjoy while I waited for me tacos - really a step above! First things first, the queso here is fire!!! My boyfriend always talked about it and I finally got to try it! Stopped by here on a Thursday and it wasn't too busy. The person that helped us out with ordering I forgot their name (red/orange hair and glasses) was funny and nice! We weren't rushed or anything but felt welcomed. Service was good! We got the hillbilly queso and that was inhaled by my boyfriend and I. We also got the trailer park taco, Mr.orange, and the chicken fajita! All the tacos were filled up pretty good and seasoned well too. It isn't your traditional Mexican food but it is pretty good. Although it was good it isn't something we'd get all the time though. Maybe once a week or two weeks. Well balanced but on the heavier side. A solid filling meal! There is a small bar for you to order drinks and they have daily specials I believe. On Thursdays I think the drinks are 50% off the torchys martini. We got the torchys Paloma! It wasn't that strong but still pretty good. Tables were clean and modern inside. Visiting from out of state..... Stopped by for brunch after landing at the airport. Loved the flavors of the tacos. Few items were not available as they were waiting for some delivers to come in. Nonetheless since we were eating at Torchys for the first time, we didn't mind trying other available options. 3rd time in this location in the last several weeks (summer of 2025) and two out of three times right at lunch and boy was the food V...E...R...Y S...L...O...W to come out of the kitchen!! Not sure if this is chronic for this location or it is just bad timing (both of those times were right at 11am) although this is twice they've let me down. Maybe it was just a perfect storm and the area businesses and their call in orders as both times people (workers and food delivery companies) were waiting on big orders. Every Torchy's besides the first one I ever tried in Houston is always a FAIL!!!! I always take my time having them repeat my order back to me at least 3x and somehow, it's always messed up. Stopped by to grab a bowl and again, she repeated my order back to me 4x, I kid you not. 10 minutes later, my food comes out, mind you it was a to-go order and I'm glad I checked it, but half of what I ordered was missing. I asked for blackened salmon, rice, avocado, lettuce, spinach, grilled onions, cooked cabbage slaw, and peppers. I got regular salmon with rice and lettuce. The manager had to remake it and when she brought it out, she said how everything I ordered was at the bottom but she gave me extra. Girl, no it wasn't. The bowl isn't deep enough for me to have missed "everything at the bottom". Sigh. read more

I was honestly surprised at how horrible the service was today. I had to wait almost 30 mins for 2 tacos, chips & queso, just for the tacos to come out cold and chips to be extra salty. Not to mention it was only me and 3 others customers inside the restaurant. This Torchy's location has lost two stars from me for placing self-ordering kiosks at the counter. I ate here on a Sunday at lunchtime. It was very busy. There were no employees available to take orders, just the kiosks. While I understand the purported cost savings of replacing staff with automation, one of Torchy's strengths is great customer service. A kiosk is poor service. It signals that profit is more important than people. More important than customer, more important than employees. read more

Again, a horrible experience. This spot was so vibrant and wonderful when they opened. Since Covid, it's like a funeral home with the worst energy and they can barely get your order right. It would be no surprise if this one closed. I even ordered ahead to pick up and there were still issues. What a shame to have witnessed it's decline. Oh and forget about the bar. I tried to have a drink last night here. Not only was it dead and somber like a funeral procession but there's no more bottles of wine. Your choices are the wine in a can. Always the same dam thing with this Torchy's. After so many years. I'm done with them now for good. First you order online and end up waiting way longer then expected time. Might as well go line up inside. Second you get home half your order is missing, never put the right sauces you order. no napkins, no silverware for the bowls you order????? The people that work here don't care at all about anything and are lazy. Should changed the whole entire staff here in the Katy location. Tried the beef fajitas and they were remarkably good and an excellent value for the price. Great taste and plenty of beef with tasty tortillas and accompaniments for a very good price. Brought to our car with a very polite young gent wearing a mask and gloves. This is my go-to location because of where I live. I always order the Baja shrimp and whatever the taco of the month is. The food is always fine but I don't like how they make drinks here. The perfect patron Margarita is my usual (and the torchytini) and this location makes them both too sour. The gessner location makes them perfectly. The jerk chicken taco and the chicken fajita taco were both bulging with meat, warm and most importantly flavorful unlike at most Tex mex places. I loved the different sauces and cold beer. The wait was a bit too long and the guacamole was fine but could use more fresh cilantro and other typical fixings that make it spicy. Thank goodness it was not drenched in lime. When it comes to Torchy's Tacos, I can proudly say that I've tried every taco on the menu minus the breakfast tacos. And I've been to most of the Torchy's in Houston. But this location is probably the best one I've step foot in! When I asked my boyfriend last Labor Day morning what he wanted to eat, I was so thrilled when he said Torchy's! Hallelujah! I found myself a good one you guys! We came in around 10:30 and there was barely anyone there. The guy at the cash register was super nice and friendly and was happy to help us order. I got my go-to orders: Trailer Park (trashy version) and Brushfire. My boyfriend got the Democrat and the Alabama Shake. All were delicious as always. What really stood out to me about this location was the interior design, seating, lights, and even the bathroom. I loved the booths and the decor! Prettiest, most clean Torchy's I've been into. My boyfriend even said that their tacos are better than the ones he had at the other Torchy's! My only complaint is that I ordered my Trailer Park trashy and got the normal one. Oh well.. Torchy's knows that I gotta diet keep the weight off.. I'm glad they opened a Torchy's in this area and answered my prayers! Can't wait to be back soon. read more
