Made a reservation for 4 for New Years Day brunch with the chefs tasting menu and omg!!! It did not disappoint. Greeted with a mimosa upon arrival and 5 star + customer service from JP, who offered to take a pic of us in front of their cute champagne wall. Customer service followed suit with the servers and bussers throughout the whole experience. We were seated immediately and told our first course would be on the way shortly :) 1st course: eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes 2nd course: pancakes, waffles, French toast bites, corn muffins 3rd course: shrimp, crab cake with poached egg, oyster Rockefeller & lobster bisque 4th course: steak, lamb chops, chorizo kebabs and chicken and waffles !!!!!!! 5th course: cheesecake, açaí, rice pudding, chocolate cake, yogurt & fruit Everything was amazing! Our mimosas were kept full to the brim, with any passing by staff making sure to tend to our glasses. Love when a bottomless brunch spot delivers! Add to that the top notch service and delicious food, it was a really great way to kick off the new year! Everybody's favorite course was between the meat & seafood, highlighting the oyster Rockefeller, lobster bisque with chunks of lobster, lamb chops and steak cooked to perfection. As a side note, we did a round of green tea shots at the end and were a bit surprised they were $12 a pop for a mixed shot. Chops Steakhouse is very fancy. From the outside roped off with red velvet ropes and a well dressed gentleman keeping unwanted patrons away. You enter into a cute dim but well lit dining room that has a very beautiful bar and comfortable seating. They have cute little message boards they set at reserved tables for birthdays and events. The atmosphere is calm and comfortable and on the high end side. It was clean and the service was great. We didn't have reservations but we're able to get a table on a Friday night around 6. The girl who seated us gave us our choice of table and the waitress we had was super friendly and knowledgeable. This waitress was a waitress we knew from another restaurant in the area. It was nice to see a friendly face of someone who we knew was great at their job. The food was good. We ordered the wagyu ribeye, thick cut bacon and creamed spinach. The bacon was good but didn't offer anything different than any of the other restaurants in the area that have it. Creamed spinach was the best thing we ate that night. Unfortunately the Wagyu was overcooked. As you can see by the photo it was charcoal. Maybe this was a mistake that night, as it seems something like that wouldn't be typical for this place, but unfortunately with all of the wonderful steak houses in Suffolk, this experience would make me choose at least 2 other steak houses before returning to this one. The only thing I didn't like was the house butter and some steak sauce they served with the bread, not an issue it was complimentary but I wish the server told me what it was . This was our second visit and the first taking advantage of the Restaurant Week Prize-Fix. Chops has a great urban steakhouse feel with a friendly and attentive staff. Lighting and decor reflect a traditional city steakhouse atmosphere. For dinner diners at our table chose either Oysters Rockefeller or Grilled Lamb lollipops as starters. Both were well presented and delicious. For main courses we had the petite filet, braised short ribs and pan seared branzino. Portions were as expected for a prix-fix more lunch-like and were presented perfectly. As with our first visit we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and experience but the bill grows quickly. Even with the prix-fix once you add 2 cocktails each, espresso and tip you need to expect $100 p/p. The quality is there to support the cost but when choosing a dinner you need to factor the potential out the door cost. read more

Chops is a restaurant you wouldn't expect to find in Patchogue, but I'm glad we did! After reading the reviews, we called for reservations. Someone had canceled so we were able to get the 9:00PM spot. It is a little later than I like to eat, but like the reviews said, you do have to make reservations weeks in advance to get in. While we waited for our reservation we went to the bar a few doors down called Daisy's of Nashville...that will be my next review :-) Anyway, we had drinks there first and hung out until we were able to go to Chops. I have to say that Daisy's and Chops are completely different venues... and experiencing them both in the same night was very interesting! We went from a loud, country music hanging, out fun crowd, to a very sophisticated, quiet and elegant one. Once at Chops we were greeted by a very well dressed nice man, and promptly seated to our table. From the moment we sat down, servers came over, and made sure everything was perfect. We ordered delicious appetizers that included, baby lamb chops, lump crab cakes, thick cut bacon, and Ceaser salad. The couple we were with ordered the cowboy rib eye, which was larger than the plate! My husband had a T-bone and I had the petit filet. We ordered some sides, which were also awesome! We were so impressed not only with the service and elegance of this place, but thought the food was impeccable. I also have to mention the amazing cocktails we had. I was very impressed with the fact that not only did they know what a Sazarac was, they made it perfectly! We were all extremely happy that we found this place. First time going to Chops and absolutely loved everything here! The Bartenders Gaven and Conner are very good professional mixologists. Gaven beat my famous espresso Martini. I also had a nice neat Balvenie 16 year scotch whiskey that hit the spot as well. Thank you JP. You are a great host & manager. You made sure everything was perfect for my wife and I. Chops is a cozy, fun steakhouse in the middle of Patchogue. The tables are tightly packed in to the space, but it wasn't overly crowded at 6:30pm when we arrived. We started off the meal with some cocktails. Our friend tried the banana nut espresso martini which was light, but felt decadent like a dessert. The French onion soup was smothered in cheese and the broth was flavorful. We enjoyed the ribeye tomahawk, Oscar style, and while the steak was delicious, the crab was nothing spectacular and felt unnecessary. For sides, we shared the lobster mac and cheese and the sweet potato puree - neither of which we could stop ourselves from picking at throughout the entire meal because they were so good. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout our entire visit. We had a nice visit overall, but we took off a star because the space is great but missing that "upscale" vibe that we had hoped to experience. We dressed nicely for the night out, but walked in to a bar with people in ripped jeans and less than dressy attire. First let me just say thank you to the staff that helped us! The service was amazing the moment we walked in through the door. The venue was pretty cool. We sat close to the kitchen separated by a glass wall, so we can see our food coming out lol. Ended up going for restaurant week and was greeted by JP. Ended up ordering the baby lamp chops, skirt steak with chimichurri and veggies and some creamed spinach. I will say the creamed spinach could've had a little more seasoning, but I added some salt and pretty much fixed it. For dessert I had a slice of chocolate cake, which was delicious. Nothing blew us away, the Waygu Steak was fair ( to much sinew and connective tissue for that cut of meat) I expected much more from it. Will stay away from that choice in the future. Overall a nice atmosphere, food was good, not great and at those prices we did expect more. Deserts may have been the highlight! The Apple Cobbler and Crème Brûlée were big hits. No one in the group had any complaints, we did enjoy the meal and the vibe. It just didn't meet the $700 price (before tip) for a party of 5 not drinking with dinner. I scoffed at those velvet ropes whenever I passed them by, but I was willing to enter with the incentive of a $100 gift card from a friend. Now I usually can smell a gimmick, so when I heard of "old school steakhouse vibe" or something like that which justified the prices, I am skeptical. I went with a close friend. Upon entering those previously scoffed at velvet ropes, we were indeed transformed-- especially knowing what had previously occupied the space. It was quiet (at first), classy, dark and it certainly took me far away from Main St Patchogue. Our server, classy Mel T was another asset. He skillfully talked me into a drink that I ordinarily would not have had-- the Monkey Business, at, gulp, $28 a go, I had to stop myself at 2. My friend nursed her Classic because she was our driver. She enjoyed it. Mel then procured the perfect wine later to pair with our entree. He was attentive, kind and knowledgable. Exceptional. We ordered the Oysters Rockefeller and wedge salad to share, and both were delectable. I have no idea how one person could eat the entire salad on their own. It looked underdressed but it wasn't-- had tons of bacon, fresh bleu cheese and all the deliciousness that makes a wedge so good. We each had the Chilean Sea Bass and ordered a side of mashed potatoes. The fish had that beautiful crisp on the outside and was so tender and tasty. And who doesn't love fresh broccolini which served as its bed. I can't remember what was underneath that, but all of it together was amazing. We cleaned our plates. Now, here is where I took a star. The dessert menu is not on a menu so we did not realize it would cost us $29 which frankly is highway robbery (as grandma used to say). THAT got me. I would not have ordered it, given the price. I will admit, the bananas foster was very good although I think they used caramel rather than a brown butter sauce? Thankfully we split it and there was a lot there, but definitely not in any way worth the cost. By the time we left, the place was crowded and people were having a really good time. We felt happy having had that experience there. I don't know why it took me so long to try this restaurant. It used to be the location of the old Flos. It isn't very large but has a cool atmosphere. The main reason to eat here was the steak. The tough part was deciding which steak to get. Decided on a porterhouse for two. At $150 I was really hoping it was worth it. Happy to say it was. Absolutely amazing. Super tender. Ive gone to chops a few times and sadly I won't be back. My friend and I were celebrating our birthdays and made a reservation at the bar for 6pm. We arrived promptly and were seated immediately. We had a drink, ordered an appetizer (shrimp cocktail) and our meals. The appetizer came around 630. The shrimp was so over cooked, it was very hard to eat. Around 7 our meals came out. We ordered our steaks 1 medium and 1 medium well. My medium was so rare and hers was more medium. We asked if they could cook it a bit longer. The owner was nice and offered the next round on them since it wasn't cooked correctly. Our steaks finally came back out around 715/720. To which they gave us each others but it was a quick switch. At 735 (we were still picking at our plates and had just ordered new drinks) we were told the next reservation had come and we needed to move, and were given the bill. I could not believe we had to move when we were NOT finished!! Together we paid over $420 and couldn't even finish and enjoy ourselves. I said to our waitress/bartender where were we supposed to go and finish and she said oh theres a table by the front door! I was shocked. Not only was it NOT a table but a shelf, we were at the front door standing while new people came in, in yankees t shirts! They say they hold a high standard but clearly they don't. Im extremely disappointed that we were rushed, couldn't finish at our original dining spot and had to stand at the door up against a shelf. For over $400 we shouldn't have been rushed. Best tasting steak I've had on Long Island. This establishment's decor is cozy, dark, sort of a speakeasy or small saloon vibe. The charcuterie plate was large with just about everything you could want on a board. The steak was amazing, medium rare cooked perfectly. It was one of those cuts of meat were you can actually taste the aging process. Excellent high end tequila, scotch & bourbon selection. My only criticism is the pours are a little over priced. Just to quantify that, I base it on the same pours in other whiskey friendly bars around Suffolk. Hey at least if you want a taste, they may have something you never tried before but I'll just have a cocktail & keep the check from hitting critical mass. Back to the great stuff, atmosphere, staff & food comes together to make this a 5 star review. Can't wait to take my brother here when he comes out from California! Last night I had the privilege of dining at the new steakhouse in Patchogue , right on Main St. , called CHOPS. It's where the old Flo's location was. When you enter you're greeted by a gentleman in a suit that directs you to the hostess station, where they immediately check you in for your reservation and show you to your table. I had made my reservation 3 weeks in advance and suggest you do the same, since seating is limited and it is a hot spot. Once seated out server immediately introduced herself , offered us several options for water and took our drink order. We ordered a dirty martini , a beer and and red wine. I was thrilled they offered blue cheese stuffed olives and these were above and beyond anything I've had in an any bar. The olives were very fresh and firm and the cheese was very soft and not soaked in olive juice. The red wine came in a mini decanter and was poured table side into a beautiful thin stemmed, tall wineglass. For appetizers we ordered grilled octopus , which came with thin shaved radish, thin sliced red onion, halved cherry tomatoes and light dressing. Absolutely delicious. A dozen Kumamoto Oysters which came with vinegar and cocktail sauce, but we asked for plain horseradish. These were so meaty and delicious. Not your average oyster that you're familiar with getting. The meat from these were thick and filling. The last appetizer was the baby lamb chops. You get 4 of them. Again, they are full of meat and flavor. The combination of seasoning and the way the chef cooked them gives them a taste that is beyond delicious. I do not like any type of lamb at all and this is the second time I've been blown away by the lamb here at CHOPS. For our entrees, we ordered steaks ( how could you not). Two Cowboy Ribeyes. One medium, one medium/rare and a petite filet mignon medium/rare. The steaks were ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. They melted in your mouth . The ribeyes were insane. If we weren't in a restaurant they would have picked up the bone and started sucking the meat off . We each ordered a baked potato , which again, were huge. I've never seen such big potatoes. For the table, we ordered sautéed onions, sautéed mushrooms , and creamed spinach. The creamed spinach had a very unique flavor as well. Delicious. Other creamed spinach I've had at other steakhouses all taste the same and have the same color. This has a different taste a lighter color (to me) and it was absolutely delicious!!Another round of drinks with dinner . And for dessert... an espresso martini, coffee, Crème brûlée, cheesecake, and a special chocolate cake, which is not on the regular menu. As with everything else about the meal, the desserts and espresso martini did not disappoint, in fact, they over delivered. CHOPS is not your typical steakhouse. It's decor is dark and old fashioned to give you that 1920's Prohibition feel. You actually feel like you are sitting in a speakeasy, hidden away listening to old time music, surrounded by old time decor. The attention to detail that has been put into this establishment from its decor to the cocktail ingredients to the servers attire, you will be very impressed with CHOPS. The servers are attentive and professional. The manager circulates the restaurant and interacts with guests to ensure their experience is meeting their expectations. I ordered their Chilean Sea Bass and although it was cooked well, I have had better. I honestly think they gave me the wrong fish as it tasted like flounder or filet of sole. As for their salad; I could make a better one at home. The one I chose was thrown together and drenched in dressing.
