We had a great experience at The Chas! Cocktails were tasty and the ambiance was upscale, trendy, but provided a social atmosphere. Everything was delicious and had amazing flavor. The calamari, the Hampton sushi roll, and the pork chop were exceptional. The pork chop was the most tender and juicy pork chop I ever ate. It was cooked to perfection. Service was good. Our server knew the menu and food came out correct and quickly. We were stuffed after our meal, but still had to try some dessert. The cookies were gooey and crunchy, and the cake was nice and light with decedent chocolate! Definitely give this restaurant a try, you won't be disappointed! read more

Overpriced and trying too hard. We went for my twin daughters' birthday and the reaction was mixed at best. The atmosphere seemed like they were trying to hard and the quality of the food was not inline with the prices. The service was OK - but again, they seemed like they were trying too hard. I also hate the whole "foodie" waiter bullshit. Just be a normal human being. The tables were also tiny - to the point where I dropped my menu multiple times because there was no place to put it...and then the wait staff seemed upset at us because there was no place to put food on the 2' x 2' table you sat four adults at. Finally, I've gotten a better burger many other places - it was mostly the bun in this one. It completely disintegrated. To be fair, the ladies seemed at least relatively happy with their food and the wait staff was good with treating the girls in their birthday with dessert. For that kind of money, there's plenty of other places to go with better food and better ambiance. We're in no rush to come back. read more

This review is my first visit when it originally opened a few weeks prior to my second visit. The Service was as expected for a new restaurant which we all expect. All the appetizers were delicious. (Salad & Crab Cake). The Branzinos were cooked at two different temperatures. Mine was barely cooked. The other was cooked well. This is a very pretty place with an upscale vibe. The issue is the service is not on point. For some strange reason one of the bar tenders kept smelling the bottles of booze and glasses prior to making the drinks, I don't get it, but it was weird. Our waiter was just ok. Most of the food we ordered was very good however I don't recommend the sashimi tuna flat. It was bland and a very small amount of tuna for $16. I'm not sure if I'll go back. I can go a lot of places and spend$300 on dinner and have an amazing time. read more

Took the wife out on a date to the chas and was pleasantly greeted by the fantastic waiting staff. We started with the buratta and lamb chops with no complaints. Obviously having to go with the fillet mignon for our entree and enjoyed every bite. The drinks were great and we hung out for a few hours until closing with welcoming arms. A group of us went for dinner at the Chas. for their grand opening, and it was a wonderful experience. Upon entering, the decor is beautiful. It's modern, yet vintage and gives an almost Speakeasy feel. We were seated and ordered drinks. The drink menu is diverse with a blend of unique and classic titles. I opted for a mocktail, as I was the driver, and ordered the Junior Member. It was so delicious! It wasn't overly sweet and was filled with fresh strawberries. I've seen people writing about this place leading up to their opening and describing it as a steakhouse, and while there is steak on the menu, I'd categorize it more as upscale American food. The menu is pretty diverse. We ordered some apps and a Sushi roll to share at the table. Everything was delicious. I would absolutely recommend the crab and lobster cake. It was phenomenal--both the cake and the corn salsa on the plate. The kung pow shrimp and calamari was a close 2nd. We also ordered the burrata and the duck bao buns. I didn't try the buns, but everyone at my table was happy with them. And you can't go wrong with burrata, although I wish it has a crustini or something to go with it along with the tomatoes. The sushi was fresh and delicious as well. We ordered the Hampton Roll. For my meal, I ordered the tuna with a side of creamed spinach. The tuna was delicious, and the sautéed cabbage and boc choy went really well with it. I loved the cream spinach. It was a great addition to my meal. I ordered the nutella cake for dessert. It was so good, and a great way to end the night. The staff was wonderful and attentive and it was a cool experience being one of the first to eat there. Very excited to try The Chas tonight! They have valet parking and the valet staff was very welcoming walking into the restaurant. We were seated in a booth and the ambiance of the restaurant is modern, fresh and welcoming. The decor is gorgeous. We had appetizers, drinks, main course and dessert. Everything was delicious. First time at this place, very open atmosphere and nice lighting. We got there early before our reservation so we sat at the bar waiting with a drink. They said they would come get us but never did and we had to go up and ask again. That was probably the biggest issue for me other than having to ask for a refill of water, most of the evening the service was fine. Food was great, shared the Hampton roll with my husband and they were able to tweak what I wanted for the salmon. They put the glaze on the side and substituted the spinach for the broccolini for me. Then dessert! My husband and a I shared the cookies and milk. It came with two huge cookies so definitely a good dish to share. The only other thing I'd recommend is that if you are prone to be cold, bring a light sweater or jacket. Also, it was a little hard to have a conversation so if you want a more intimate place, this wouldn't be it. Overall, was a good meal with some minor things but nothing crazy. They do have 3oz pours of wines for "luxury" wines for 15 dollars. Mondavi Cabernet imo is not a luxury wine. Nicely appointed inside. Was very quiet and light on people inside. I'm pretty sure I had a Ratatouille moment while eating the food at The Chas. It made me question all my life's choices about what and where I eat. The majority of the dishes I tried were among the best tasting I have ever had, and everything else was really good. The drinks were all excellent. I had a few, and they tasted so good and were so smooth that I was surprised when I caught a buzz from them. Clearly, they packed a little punch (a rum punch)! The appetizers were very good to excellent. I'm not much of a sushi person, but the roll my table ordered was phenomenal. The lobster and crab cakes were the best thing I had all night--absolutely amazing. Everyone at the table agreed. We also had the burrata, kung pao calamari and shrimp, and the bao duck buns. It was all very good, and I would happily eat any of them again. For my main course, I had the short rib ravioli. I wanted to try this because it sounded really good (I love short ribs), but I was a bit hesitant since I'm not much of a mushroom person and this dish is mushroom-heavy. I dove right in, and my first bite was only mushrooms in the sauce. They were amazing, and that was when I questioned my existence. My life's goals need to change, and that change should involve trying more quality food like this. If there is an ingredient I'm not fond of that I could enjoy this much, that's very impressive. I took some home and had it the next day, and was once again blown away by the quality. It was amazing the second time around. After that, I ordered the apple crisp dessert, which was incredible. I was super stuffed at this point, but I managed to eat it all. This was an amazing meal that I will not soon forget. As for the restaurant's appearance, it was modern and looked great. The bread is good..... Service was horribly spotty for the amount of service staff and managers running around. Big pet peeve for me is auctioning off stuff at our table ... everyone who came with a drink didn't know where it went and was auctioned off. Working in the industry food and drinks get assigned to a seat number, there is no need for this. Chicken paillard was the equivalent of a dried saltine cracker with undressed frisée lettuce ... dry dry dry. The pork chop was like a hockey puck. Beef Wellington and branzino were okay, not worth a repeat. Coconut cake was premade and not impressive. Date night was great here! We went to the bar very early, hoping they could seat us early and waited at the bar. We didn't end up getting seated earlier, but the bar was a fun way to kill time. The drinks were fantastic and strong. The atmosphere was perfect. We had to try the chicken nugget and caviar while we were having cocktails. We loved the taste, but both agreed that a few smaller pieces even if we had to assemble it ourselves would have been better than having to cut a huge chicken cake. The chicken was also a little dry; just another reason smaller pieces would work better. The sushi was great. I would come here just for sushi and drinks. I liked the bluefin tuna entree but found the wasabi sauce all around the plate to be overpowering and probably should have been listed in the menu description. The pork chop was tasty but a little over cooked when we asked for it to be prepared medium. Since it was so late and it took a while to come out, we did not send it back. Overall, the drinks, apps, and sushi are worth returning for, but we will probably skip the entrees. read more

Visited the Chas other night, the 4 of us, came in exactly 5:03pm in 3 minutes the bar was completely full. Luckily the hostess so nice, had a table next to the bar available. Started with the lamb chops only 3 and tiny! We try them in all restaurants to compare but for $28.00 need at least 4 and should be a decent size (not lollipop lamb chops). Had the ribs, branzino and porterhouse. All the food was fresh and cooked well. Saw the manager coming around & told him about the portion size not only with the lamb but the porterhouse was also small for $156.00. Didn't have much to say. Being they are new, will give them another try in a few months to get the kinks out. Competing now with Paces & Insignia they will have to up the portion sizes on their meats. Here's a polished review version: Chas is visually appealing, and there were definitely some highlights to the meal, but overall the experience did not match the price point. When we were seated, no wait staff came to greet us for over ten minutes, and when someone finally did, we still were not brought a menu. The bread service was also odd. We were given an entire loaf of bread, but only enough butter for about two pieces. That said, both the bread and butter were delicious. The appetizers were another strong point. We ordered the pigs in a blanket, BLT salad, and sides of bacon, and all of them were excellent. Unfortunately, the service continued to fall short. The busser service was terrible. At one point, I had to stack all of our plates myself and then get up to ask for a busser to clear the table. The main reason we came was to try the beef Wellington, which is $63 and comes with no sides. As someone who frequently dines in Hell's Kitchen, I found both the presentation and overall value really disappointing. For that price, the dish felt underwhelming and poorly presented. Chas has a beautiful atmosphere, but it lacks the refined service needed to justify its pricing. With restaurants like Insignia right down the block, it is hard to overlook the mismatch between the experience and the cost. read more

The lobster crab cakes were absolutely delicious, and the artichoke dip was outstanding. A small touch that didn't go unnoticed was the staff bringing extra chips without us even having to ask. Excellent service. My fiancée also said the Cosmopolitan, made by Jack, was one of the best she's had. The only reason this isn't a 5-star review is the coconut cake dessert. Honestly, it should come off the menu. After such a great meal, it was a major disappointment. To be fair, both Kat and Jack recommended the chocolate chip cookies instead, but I had my heart set on the cake. Unfortunately, it was the only miss of the night. Overall, the food, drinks, and service were excellent. We'll definitely be back--and next time, we'll listen to Kat and Jack and order the cookies. read more

The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. They spared no expenses, stunning. We had one of the best waiters ever, he was great. I wish I could remember his name. Now for the food. Sushi was excellent, we tried three rolls and all were amazing could recommend them enough, but some of the other things were not so good. So we got the wagyu pigs in a blanket for example, and for that price to bring out that small of a portion is not worth the price, I mean it was literally 2 mini dogs sliced up to make it look like it was a dozen, we thought it was going to be a much lager portion and with some flair but that wasn't the case at all. We also order the Duck buns and they were good but again nothing special at all. My wife ordered the ribs and the menu described them as "falling off the bone", which is the farthest thing from the truth, "you could bounce them off the floor" is what they should write. Tough, dry and just not good. My friend's wife ordered the pork chop and it was extremely dry, almost like it was sitting around and reheated, like the ribs. My friend and I had the steak sandwich and it was OK at best, we only ate half of it because it was very bland and tough. The cocktails were really good as we tried many different types. I'm sure with time their quality of food will improve but we we're definitely not enjoying all of there options. I understand it's fairly new but that excuse only last so long. read more

We paid hundreds and dressed elegantly just to allow this to happen ? My experience is ruined and the people here truly have no respect. I am so astounded that I paid hundreds of dollars to be here just for there to be 0 protection or consideration of guests safety, especially for a lady and her younger brother on the day of my birthday? There should be security, care and intervention for guests who bother a lady. I don't want to come here again if they don't care what happens to guests. This was my first time. First time at The Chas. It was just ok. The space was very pretty. Noisy. Service was too slow and spotty. We sat with dirty dishes in front of us for quite a while. Food was mediocre. French onion soup was good, not great. The cheese needed to be more broiled. The baby back ribs were very good and tasty. The short rib ravioli was bland and overstuffed. Definitely needed more seasoning. Dessert was a bomb. The coconut cake was really bad. Not sure what it was but it didn't taste fresh and was artificial tasting. A mouthful of icing and little cake. Super well done interior .. lovely staff and server we had was fantastic ... ordered 2 meals, one sea bass special which partner said was just good, not best ever, just good and I had the pork chop that was outstanding! Also got a coconut cake to go and that was sort of blah, to be honest. But the experience was excellent, again, very accommodating staff .... Only negative critique is .. the noise level is awful. Truffled asparagus was great. They should have put some of the truffle sauce in the potatoes. We had the Porterhouse. It was not sufficiently seasoned. The cast iron server was not sizzling hot. There was insufficient juice in the skillet to drizzle over all the meat. Char on the meat was weak. Lots of silver skin on the meat. And the Porthouse for two was small and not terribly thick. Normally, my wife and I split and bring a little home and the bone. We finished it. It was not bad, but did not justify the price. Some of this could result from being new, but they do have other steak houses. In the end, we decided it would have been worth the ride just to go to Peter Lugars in Great Neck. read more
