Asparagus soup
Vivian R.

Our 2nd time at The Chas but unfortunately we were disappointed with dinner service tonight. We had the asparagus soup which was a special and the soup was very liquidity and salt. The Calamari and Shrimp was very tasty (not many shrimps) Caesar Salad was tasty but a small portion. For dinner, the best dinners was the Sirloin Steak, Tuna and Burger. The PorterHouse for two came out raw and not seasoned We sent it back to come back still not cooked properly it was a total turnoff. the side dishes were very bland. For dessert, we had the cookies and milk were a hit. The Nutella cake was ok wouldn't order it again. The service and waiter were amazing.

A group of us went for dinner at the Chas. for their grand opening, and it was a wonderful experience. Upon entering, the decor is beautiful. It's modern, yet vintage and gives an almost Speakeasy feel. We were seated and ordered drinks. The drink menu is diverse with a blend of unique and classic titles. I opted for a mocktail, as I was the driver, and ordered the Junior Member. It was so delicious! It wasn't overly sweet and was filled with fresh strawberries. I've seen people writing about this place leading up to their opening and describing it as a steakhouse, and while there is steak on the menu, I'd categorize it more as upscale American food. The menu is pretty diverse. We ordered some apps and a Sushi roll to share at the table. Everything was delicious. I would absolutely recommend the crab and lobster cake. It was phenomenal--both the cake and the corn salsa on the plate. The kung pow shrimp and calamari was a close 2nd. We also ordered the burrata and the duck bao buns. I didn't try the buns, but everyone at my table was happy with them. And you can't go wrong with burrata, although I wish it has a crustini or something to go with it along with the tomatoes. The sushi was fresh and delicious as well. We ordered the Hampton Roll. For my meal, I ordered the tuna with a side of creamed spinach. The tuna was delicious, and the sautéed cabbage and boc choy went really well with it. I loved the cream spinach. It was a great addition to my meal. I ordered the nutella cake for dessert. It was so good, and a great way to end the night. The staff was wonderful and attentive and it was a cool experience being one of the first to eat there. I know I'll be back to try more of their menu, and I wish them success as they navigate their opening stages.

horrible. i came with my sister. 2 random drunk men outside were shouting curse words at us while the valets stood there and did nothing to manage the situation. they were making predatory and sexual jokes about my sister just because we took a few photos in the lobby. we were not disrupting anybody and let everyone pass. the chas has no class in keeping their customers safe, and it seems like they have no limit on drunkness, or a cut-off. do not come here! i will be making better business bureau complaint and gather video footage. shameful that the chas can't take care of the

Date night was great here! We went to the bar very early, hoping they could seat us early and waited at the bar. We didn't end up getting seated earlier, but the bar was a fun way to kill time. The drinks were fantastic and strong. The atmosphere was perfect. We had to try the chicken nugget and caviar while we were having cocktails. We loved the taste, but both agreed that a few smaller pieces even if we had to assemble it ourselves would have been better than having to cut a huge chicken cake. The chicken was also a little dry; just another reason smaller pieces would work better. The sushi was great. I would come here just for sushi and drinks. I liked the bluefin tuna entree but found the wasabi sauce all around the plate to be overpowering and probably should have been listed in the menu description. The pork chop was tasty but a little over cooked when we asked for it to be prepared medium. Since it was so late and it took a while to come out, we did not send it back. Overall, the drinks, apps, and sushi are worth returning for, but we will probably skip the entrees.

Wow. What an experience... the food was delicious and the staff was friendly and the location is beautiful. The ice cream sundae was a real standout. They also had a few specials that sounded delicious. Overall for a new restaurant the experience was fantastic

Wagu pigs in a blanket & crispy rice

I recently dined at The Chas. This restaurant is a perfect addition to the Smithtown community. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has that NYC upscale feeling. For apps we had the crispy rice and the wagu pigs in a blanket. For drinks we had a dirty martini and the polo picnic spritz . For dinner we have the steak special and the Hampton roll. For dessert we had the rice pudding. Everything was delicious. Our waiter was attentive.

Visited the Chas other night, the 4 of us, came in exactly 5:03pm in 3 minutes the bar was completely full. Luckily the hostess so nice, had a table next to the bar available. Started with the lamb chops only 3 and tiny! We try them in all restaurants to compare but for $28.00 need at least 4 and should be a decent size (not lollipop lamb chops). Had the ribs, branzino and porterhouse. All the food was fresh and cooked well. Saw the manager coming around & told him about the portion size not only with the lamb but the porterhouse was also small for $156.00. Didn't have much to say. Being they are new, will give them another try in a few months to get the kinks out. Competing now with Paces & Insignia they will have to up the portion sizes on their meats. Would recommend them.

Today, May 5, 2026, I visited Insignia during happy hour with my mother, my toddler daughter, and a close friend--something I have done multiple times before, including as recently as last month. Our server, Justin, was excellent: attentive, courteous, and professional. Unfortunately, that is where the hospitality ended. The manager, Emir Radoncic, pulled me aside and stated--verbatim: "Never come back here with your daughter again... she is disruptive to other patrons." This statement was false, insulting, and deeply inappropriate. In fact, the patrons seated next to us complimented me directly on how well-behaved my daughter was. Any parent knows toddlers can be unpredictable--but at no point was she loud, disruptive, or out of line. What was disruptive was a manager who felt entitled to shame and alienate a paying guest--a loyal customer of over a decade--instead of practicing the most basic principle of hospitality: creating a welcoming environment. Over the years, I have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, holiday parties, and professional events across Insignia and other restaurants within the same group. Many of these gatherings were planned and organized by me. That relationship is now irreparably damaged. I will never return to Insignia or any restaurant within the Anthony Scotto Restaurants portfolio. I will actively discourage families, friends, colleagues, and institutions from dining here, and I will make sure others know exactly how I was treated. This was not just bad service--it was a complete failure of leadership and hospitality.

The steak itself was cooked perfectly as expected from a place like this but the flavor was not I'd expect from prime cuts of premium beef. Given the top-tier pricing, the portion sizes felt underwhelming and kind of hard to justify. The sides offered some positives. The creamed spinach tasted fresh and enjoyable, and the truffle fries were crispy and flavorful. The mixed mushrooms were a nice addition but not particularly memorable, while the mashed potatoes leaned a bit bland. The french onion soup was a hit. Nice mix of swiss, gruyere, and muenster made for a good FOS. Service was professional and friendly throughout, but was generally slow. The atmosphere didn't do anything for the experience either--the space felt cramped and dark, and the decor was underwhelming. Ultimately, while dinner wasn't bad, it falls short where it matters most--the steak!!Compared to well-known NYC heavy hitter steakhouses, the balance of price, portion, and quality doesn't quite measure up. It's not the worst steakhouse experience, but it's also not one that stands out enough that I'd be returning.

Everything was delicious, perfectly prepared, and served with professionalism from start to finish. We went with the Carnivore Belly package and added skirt steak, wings, and a mix of sides. The BBQ was outstanding - meaty tender ribs, juicy pulled pork, burgers and dogs grilled to perfection. The wings were crisp and flavorful, and the fryer setup stole the show with piping-hot fries and onion rings that guests couldn't stop talking about. Even the sides (macaroni salad, harvest salad) were fresh and balanced out the richness of the BBQ perfectly. Booking, setup, cooking, serving, and cleanup were all handled smoothly. Our guests raved about the food, and we were able to just enjoy the day. It was the best of both worlds - the taste of authentic BBQ with none of the stress of doing it ourselves. Highly recommend Big Belly for anyone looking to elevate their party or gathering. They absolutely made our event unforgettable. My belly is certainly happy, and now big too.

What is truly unacceptable is the restaurants complete lack of concern afterwards. I made them aware of what happened, and despite the seriousness of the injury, the showed no accountability and no willingness to compensate. They told me they would not compensate for any of the medical bills that I have incurred. This raises serious concerns about their food safety standards, and how they treat customers when things go wrong. In this case their was clearly wrong doing on their part. I'm 50 year old and I don't believe I have ever sent a dish back before. The tuna steak also had two large ribs (maybe 4" long by 1/4" wide) sticking out the side of it. Honestly looked like a tomahawk beef steak. I've done plenty of fishing and have eaten ton's of tuna and I've never seen a tuna with bones like that. Replacement dish was a lasagna, which they had to rush, and was cold in the middle. I felt bad and didn't send that back as well. Will just microwave it tomorrow. Have to say the desserts were excellent, lemon cake and a strawberry tiramisu. In any event, a $325 dinner for two (I had a bourbon cocktail and glass of wine, wife had a diet coke) and mostly I have a stomachache. Just so disappointed as I purposely didn't eat much, looking forward to this anniversary dinner, and as said I was unhappy. Keep your $325 in your pocket, make a steak or lasagna at home, buy a bottle of bourbon, maybe get a dessert to go I guess if they offer that. Osteria Umbra has collapsed under the weight of it's own pretentiousness.
