First time at this place, very open atmosphere and nice lighting. We got there early before our reservation so we sat at the bar waiting with a drink. They said they would come get us but never did and we had to go up and ask again. That was probably the biggest issue for me other than having to ask for a refill of water, most of the evening the service was fine. Food was great, shared the Hampton roll with my husband and they were able to tweak what I wanted for the salmon. They put the glaze on the side and substituted the spinach for the broccolini for me. Then dessert! My husband and a I shared the cookies and milk. It came with two huge cookies so definitely a good dish to share. The only other thing I'd recommend is that if you are prone to be cold, bring a light sweater or jacket. Also, it was a little hard to have a conversation so if you want a more intimate place, this wouldn't be it. Overall, was a good meal with some minor things but nothing crazy. I'd be back some time, maybe for happy hour as they had a very big bar area.

A group of us went for dinner at the Chas. for their grand opening, and it was a wonderful experience. Upon entering, the decor is beautiful. It's modern, yet vintage and gives an almost Speakeasy feel. We were seated and ordered drinks. The drink menu is diverse with a blend of unique and classic titles. I opted for a mocktail, as I was the driver, and ordered the Junior Member. It was so delicious! It wasn't overly sweet and was filled with fresh strawberries. I've seen people writing about this place leading up to their opening and describing it as a steakhouse, and while there is steak on the menu, I'd categorize it more as upscale American food. The menu is pretty diverse. We ordered some apps and a Sushi roll to share at the table. Everything was delicious. I would absolutely recommend the crab and lobster cake. It was phenomenal--both the cake and the corn salsa on the plate. The kung pow shrimp and calamari was a close 2nd. We also ordered the burrata and the duck bao buns. I didn't try the buns, but everyone at my table was happy with them. And you can't go wrong with burrata, although I wish it has a crustini or something to go with it along with the tomatoes. The sushi was fresh and delicious as well. We ordered the Hampton Roll. For my meal, I ordered the tuna with a side of creamed spinach. The tuna was delicious, and the sautéed cabbage and boc choy went really well with it. I loved the cream spinach. It was a great addition to my meal. I ordered the nutella cake for dessert. It was so good, and a great way to end the night. The staff was wonderful and attentive and it was a cool experience being one of the first to eat there. I know I'll be back to try more of their menu, and I wish them success as they navigate their opening stages.

Great steakhouse with fresh caviar and a decent size wine menu for pairings. The service is top notch and the foie gras is a must try! Looking forward to my next visit!

Had an incredible dinner here! The service was exceptional, the food was amazing, and the atmosphere was beautiful and inviting. We had such a great experience and can't wait to come back!

We had a really nice dinner sitting at the bar, comfortable seats, great service and well prepared meals. Very well done Chas.

Another Winner Hits the Grill - The Chas. American Restaurant! The Restaurant Everyone's Talking About? Now I Know Why! To keep my reviews consistent, I'm breaking them down into the categories that matter most to me. If you think I'm missing one, let me know in the comments! The Chas. American Restaurant- 730 Smithtown bypass, Smithtown! First Impressions & Atmosphere From the moment you step through the soaring glass entrance, you can feel this restaurant's presence. The Chas. makes a statement. The interior is beautifully designed with rich dark wood paneling, warm amber lighting, contemporary artwork, and incredibly comfortable leather seating that invites you to relax and enjoy a leisurely meal. Even the welcoming host stand sets the tone--with smiling faces, an elegant black-and-gold lectern, and fresh flowers creating a warm first impression. The Food - One Outstanding Dish After Another! Dinner begins with a steaming hot loaf of freshly baked bread served alongside whipped herb butter...a perfect start. Our first course was a Sushi Trio featuring tuna over crispy rice, a refreshing kani salad crisp, and a salmon cucumber roll. Delicate, fresh, and beautifully balanced. Next came three appetizers that were all home runs. Watermelon & Feta Salad -- Sweet watermelon, salty feta, olives, and roasted sunflower seeds combined for a refreshing summer salad with wonderful texture. Lobster & Crab Cakes -- Two generous cakes resting over roasted corn with a spicy mayo. Packed with seafood flavor and absolutely outstanding. Crispy Duck Bao Buns -- Light, pillowy bao filled with tender duck, shredded carrots, cucumber, and finished with a sweet plum hoisin sauce. Soft, flavorful, and completely addictive. Every appetizer was memorable. Main Courses Worth Coming Back For! My friend's New York Strip was exactly what a great steak should be--perfectly cooked, tender, juicy, and full of flavor without unnecessary fuss. The twin African lobster tails were plump, buttery, sweet, and cooked beautifully. My wife enjoyed her lamb chops, although she would have preferred just a bit more char. As for me...I was thrilled to find Beef Wellington on the menu. The golden puff pastry was perfectly crisp and rested over a rich wine reduction. Inside was a beautiful medium-rare filet that was incredibly tender and bursting with flavor. Easily one of the best Wellingtons I've had. Don't Skip the Sides The sides easily held their own. The macaroni and cheese was rich, creamy, and comforting. The creamed spinach was honestly one of the best I've ever had. The broccolini was perfectly prepared, and the steak fries arrived piping hot with a crisp exterior. Flavor Every dish showcased bold, balanced flavors. Nothing felt overdone or under-seasoned. Each ingredient was allowed to shine while working together beautifully. The Real Standout...The Service! Outstanding food brings people in. Exceptional service brings them back. From arrival until the moment we left, the hospitality was impeccable. Floor manager Oscar (who many may remember from Louie's) quietly orchestrates the dining room with professionalism and genuine warmth. He checks on guests just enough to make you feel cared for without ever interrupting your experience--a skill that's becoming increasingly rare. Our server, Joseph, was simply phenomenal. His knowledge of the menu, daily specials, wines, and cocktails was exceptional. His recommendations were spot on, his timing was flawless, and he anticipated our needs throughout the evening. Quite honestly, Joseph is one of the best servers I've had in years. If you visit The Chas., ask for him--you'll be in excellent hands. Adding to the experience was Pasquale, whose friendly personality and thoughtful recommendations elevated the evening even further. If service matters to you, The Chas. sets the standard. Is It Worth the Money? Absolutely. To me, value isn't simply about price. It's the combination of atmosphere, quality, service, comfort, and the overall dining experience. The Chas. delivers on every one of those. Would I Return? In a heartbeat. The Chas. American Restaurant doesn't just serve great food--it makes you feel genuinely welcomed and appreciated from beginning to end. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, enjoying date night, entertaining clients, or simply looking for an exceptional dinner, The Chas. belongs on your list. And for my final thought...I just want to say what makes a great night out extraordinary is the people you share it with. Whether it's family, friends, spouses, or colleagues, without this element a meal is just a meal but, with the magic of the people around you makes an ordinary meal an outstanding experience. Highly Recommended! This is another Long Island restaurant that gets my enthusiastic seal of approval

Date night was great here! We went to the bar very early, hoping they could seat us early and waited at the bar. We didn't end up getting seated earlier, but the bar was a fun way to kill time. The drinks were fantastic and strong. The atmosphere was perfect. We had to try the chicken nugget and caviar while we were having cocktails. We loved the taste, but both agreed that a few smaller pieces even if we had to assemble it ourselves would have been better than having to cut a huge chicken cake. The chicken was also a little dry; just another reason smaller pieces would work better. The sushi was great. I would come here just for sushi and drinks. I liked the bluefin tuna entree but found the wasabi sauce all around the plate to be overpowering and probably should have been listed in the menu description. The pork chop was tasty but a little over cooked when we asked for it to be prepared medium. Since it was so late and it took a while to come out, we did not send it back. Overall, the drinks, apps, and sushi are worth returning for, but we will probably skip the entrees.

Wow. What an experience... the food was delicious and the staff was friendly and the location is beautiful. The ice cream sundae was a real standout. They also had a few specials that sounded delicious. Overall for a new restaurant the experience was fantastic

Visited the Chas other night, the 4 of us, came in exactly 5:03pm in 3 minutes the bar was completely full. Luckily the hostess so nice, had a table next to the bar available. Started with the lamb chops only 3 and tiny! We try them in all restaurants to compare but for $28.00 need at least 4 and should be a decent size (not lollipop lamb chops). Had the ribs, branzino and porterhouse. All the food was fresh and cooked well. Saw the manager coming around & told him about the portion size not only with the lamb but the porterhouse was also small for $156.00. Didn't have much to say. Being they are new, will give them another try in a few months to get the kinks out. Competing now with Paces & Insignia they will have to up the portion sizes on their meats. Would recommend them.

I absolutely adore this spacious garage themed eatery. Bright colors, vintage pictures and signs and actual cars! The Honey and I had dinner here on Sunday, April 12th, 2026. We were in the area and decided to check it out. We were seated promptly and our server James greeted us warmly when he arrived at our table. The Honey had the meatloaf entree with two sides and I opted for the Ahi Tuna Bowl. Both meals were absolutely delicious! My bowl was bursting with lettuce, cabbage, avocado, wonton strips and the salad dressing just pulled everything together! We were satisfied but still craved dessert. James suggested the homemade Key Lime pie....he said the company was Florida based. He did say all the desserts were good but, if you like Key Lime we needed to try it. That pie was the creamiest, Key Lime I've ever had!! And the graham cracker crust? (Chef's Kiss) What a fun, laid back place to enjoy some good food with family and friends! Horrible experience! First and last time going here…read more I went with my family. My mom was attracted to the restaurant because of the decor outside and everything. We sat down at our table and were given menus. We didn't even get the chance to look them over before getting asked what we were going to order. After a couple of minutes, we finally did order. For our appetizer, we ordered the BBQ Ford's Classic Wings. The wings were delicious, nicely seasoned, and the ranch paired nicely with them. The wings were saucy and kinda messy--and we didn't have any napkins around us. The waiter eventually came to our table and we asked him for napkins. He came back with some blue rags--I get it, it's part of the whole restaurant theme and everything. For our entrees, my sister ordered the Salmon with a side of mashed potatoes and broccoli. I ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich with a side of Ford's Fries. My dad ordered the BBQ Pork Ribs with a side of mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Lastly, my mom ordered the Beer-Battered Fish N' Chips with a side of fries. After putting in our order, the waiter came back and said they were out of ribs--my dad switched to the Grilled Sirloin Steak, with the same sides of mashed potatoes and coleslaw. After about 30 minutes, we received our dishes. We weren't able to eat because we didn't have any utensils at the table. We asked the waiter for utensils and waited around 5-10 minutes for them. It seemed like he had forgotten to bring them to our table. We had also ordered more ranch and barbecue sauce. After a couple of minutes, the waiter came to give us our utensils; he also cleared the plates we had used for our appetizer. My dish was a chicken sandwich, and the bread had a stamped logo of the restaurant name. My mom had the fried fish, which looked really big. My dad noticed that instead of coleslaw for one of his sides, he was given broccoli. He decided not to say anything and just eat it. We began eating our meals. My mom cut into her fish and immediately noticed something was wrong. Her fish was undercooked, and she couldn't even eat or look at it. My chicken sandwich wasn't hot or warm at all, and in my opinion, was flavorless. My mom only ate the fries from her plate--refusing to eat the undercooked fish. My dad ate his dish and it was fine--other than having the wrong side. My sister ate her dish, and there was nothing wrong with it at first. We waited and waited for the waiter to come by, which felt like forever. He eventually came by and dropped off the sauces we had asked for earlier, and my sister told him about our mom's dish. He took the dish away and we patiently waited. At this point, I had lost my appetite and could not continue eating. My sister was still eating--as she ate her mashed potatoes, she found a hair in them. I told her not to move it or take it out, and to leave it in the dish. A couple of minutes later, what seemed to be the manager of the restaurant came to our table asking about the undercooked fish. In addition to the fish, I mentioned how my sister had just found a hair in her mashed potatoes. Both my mom and sister explained everything to him. He offered to cook another fish for my mom, but she said no. He continued and continued to offer, asking my sister and mom if they wanted any other dish--they said no. He then said the two dishes would be taken off our tab. He continued to offer us food; this time, he offered anything off the dessert menu. We politely declined and just asked for the check. He then took my sister's dish away. Shortly after, the check came to the table. What is worse than the terrible food? The prices! Given that two dishes were taken off our tab, we were only paying for our appetizer, drinks, and two dishes. The food was not worth even half the amount of money we paid. After leaving the restaurant, I went on Yelp and looked at the reviews--which I should've done much earlier. I saw a lot of reviews about bad service and one or two reviews about people feeling sick after eating at the restaurant. My only hope is that my family and I don't get sick. Overall, it was a horrible experience: bad service, bad food, and bad prices. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. Save your money!!!

I've been here on numerous occasions hoping that maybe this would finally be the visit where everything clicked. Unfortunately, it just hasn't happened. My experiences have been so-so, and more often than not they've been slightly disappointing. My biggest complaint has always been the food. My take has been it's been bland or uninspired. The French onion soup was just ok, and seemed like no effort putting this together. No provolone cheese option when I've ordered which is crazy. The Caesar salad tasted diluted, with lettuce that seemed waterlogged rather than crisp and fresh. Just overall underwhelming. The food is not necessarily terrible, but just mediocre and forgettable. Portion size is another problem. For what you're paying, the plates often feel surprisingly small. One example of this was the "Big C Burger," which was honestly a huge letdown. With a name like that you'd expect something substantial. Instead, the burger was tiny--maybe 4-5 ounces at most. At first glance you could barely even see the meat because the bun swallowed it. I ordered it medium and it came out completely overcooked, cooked to death really. The bun didn't help either--dense, dry, and overpowering the already small patty. The whole thing just felt poorly executed. Even the little details were off. I asked for olive oil on the side for a salad and what came out was clearly some generic vegetable oil. It felt like a lazy substitution, the kind of thing that makes you question how much care is going into the kitchen overall. To be fair, the one thing Faraday's consistently gets right is the atmosphere. The restaurant is has a cozy charming space with a warm pub feel. The indoor dining area although small has character and a comfortable vibe. The outdoor area is really nice too, and perfect for setting for a nice meal on a comfortable day. Service is good. I've not had any issues with any servers ever being inattentive. Occasionally some order mixups but quickly rectified. Unfortunately, that inviting setting hasn't translated to memorable meals. The black and white cookie looked delicious so I opted to get one of those. When being rung up we had sticker shock. $9.31 for 1 large black and white cookie. When I said something about it the girl said she'd put it back but we felt bad so we said "no that's okay." because we both felt awkward and it must be pretty special. The apple turnover was $5.20 and lacking apples. We actually threw it in the garbage after 2 bites. All in all the items were not good and not very fresh tasting in our opinion but to each is their own. I honestly with all due respect feel some places are really price gouging since the pandemic. I get that people lost businesses and all but this place is less than a year old and the prices were not justified and not worth it might I add. I wish them all the luck in the world but don't have high expectations for this place. Sorry.

Well, it's a nice restaurant, very nicely decorated and a warm feel to it, but unfortunately not what we are looking for. Since it was the evening and we were hungry anyway, we decided to stay and have dinner there! The menu was a nice selection, but it was late so my daughter and I both had the Penne ala Vodka, simple! The pancetta is already mixed into the sauce but I always ask for my vodka sauce without it. The waitress told me I would never know the difference so I ordered the dish. Well, the sauce was slightly salty so I guess she was wrong! LOL It was still very good but I will continue to order this dish without pancetta anywhere else! I had the chocolate mouse cake for dessert and although not homemade, it was delicious! I don't know if I'll be returning, but if you're in the area, I'd definitely give them a try!

The gentleman seated us and didn't give us a drink menu and wasn't attentive at all when taking our order. The bus boy/ server was awful! We were eating and he was reaching over us to take empty plates. Didn't come by to see if we needed anything or ask if we wanted a refill. This is a one and done for us! I should have known when there was nobody in the restaurant but us and another couple and it was dinner time.
