Lamb chop app delicious!
Cary R.

Absolutely loved Chops! The staff was incredibly friendly -- always a big win for me. The food was outstanding; every single dish at our table was a hit with no misses. We had a minor hiccup when the wrong steak was brought out, but the staff immediately apologized and the manager came over on their own to check in. Even though we were completely fine waiting, they went above and beyond by offering everyone in our party a free drink of their choice, which was a very nice touch. The only downside for me were the drinks. I tried two different ones and they just weren't my favorite -- next time I'll probably stick to my usual margarita. Overall, everything else was absolutely wonderful and I would definitely return.

Another 5-star experience at Chops! We love it here. Dined yesterday for our anniversary and were promptly seated. Our table had a hand-written "happy anniversary" sign which we loved. We ordered the bacon appetizer. It came with one slice but it was more than filling. For our main, we ordered the porterhouse for two, French fries and creamed spinach. I wasn't too crazy about the juice but or waiter gave us house sauce which fit the bill. The French fries had a little too much pepper but my husband enjoyed his creamed spinach. I ordered chocolate ice cream which was pretty tasteless (and $7) but it did the trick. Love the ambience here. Just wish they rolled with the theme and played old music. We love coming here.

This place is amazing - the decor reminds me of a prohibition speakeasy. From the moment I walked in I felt welcomed, the host was very friendly - took our coats and seated us promptly (had a reservation) I will say the dining room is pretty small - we were seated at a table for 2 and it was tight, we were very close to the tables on either side of us - luckily they were both friendly (as we were so close it felt like we were all at the same table) they were regulars so they filled us in on the menu items - we were there for restaurant week, so we used that menu - the waitress was really sweet and patient, the food came out quick - we had steak entree, salmon entree, shrimp bisque, lamb chops and cheesecakes everything was good except the bisque- I was disappointed it didn't have lumps of shrimp just bisque - they have a lot of craft drinks but we opted for a bottle of rose - which was also good. This is why I love restaurant week - it gave me an opportunity to find a new spot because I'll def be back

We have been planning a visit to Chops for quite some time and decided my wife's birthday would be the perfect reason for our first visit. We were warmly greeted by the maitre d who promptly took our coats. We had a seat at the bar for a cocktail prior to moving to our table. The bar although fairly small is roomy and comfortable. I had and Old fashioned and my wife enjoyed a glass of Champagne. Both stellar. The backdrop at the bar contained numerous bottles placed neatly on small shelves with an old school brick wall. A TV showed a black and white prohibition style movie enhancing the vibe of the restaurant . Once seated at our table we thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance of this speakeasy style establishment. The decor is plush with red walls and curtains. Multiple light fixtures adorn the walls and ceilings providing a dimly lit romantic setting. Of particular note were the shimmering chandeliers that provided a classy elegant early 1900's feel. Having advised the staff that this was a birthday celebration a small sign was placed on our table acknowledging that. A nice touch. On to the food. We both ordered the 12 oz filet mignon and added a lobster tail. Both cooked to perfection. The steak had a nice char to it but was juicy and flavorful internally. My wife commented that it was the best filet mignon she has ever had, and there have been many. The lobster tail was a nice size, tasty and tender accompanied by drawn butter for dipping. Outstanding. We ordered a side of mashed potatoes They were creamy, buttery and delicious. Although it was her birthday we were to full for dessert. That didn't stop this friendly attentive staff. They surprised her with a dish of vanilla ice cream complete with a sparkler style candle. A fantastic treat. Upon finishing our meals we were approached by the maitre d as we waited near the door who handed us our coats. A truly enjoyable culinary experience with a first class environment and staff. We will surely return.

Too expensive to give a fourth star if I'm being honest. Hit or miss depending what you order, I like it but I wouldn't bother going back here over any other place. Nothing screams must return. It's good, solid, expensive, slow, and blah blah blah, it's good and fine though.

I came back for my friend's birthday, and Chops never disappoints. The food was good, the vibe was elegant, and the bartender was entertaining. We had a lot of laughs, and my friend was surprised by a delicious brownie fudge ice cream with a sparkler.

From entering the restaurant my first time, up until the time we left for the evening, every single thing that could have went wrong DIDN'T!! The service was excellent, the food was beyond words and the ambiance was perfect! My filet was cooked to perfection!! Cheers to the chef! My friends also loved what they had, the short ribs and the salmon. It is definitely worth a repeat trip back!!

Red snapper and a perfect steak

Speakeasy vibe, outstanding service and amazing food Mom and I had the red snapper special. It was perfectly cooked. My wife had a strip steak that was just outrageous. Oh and the cocktails were excellent. I need to give props for the wine list. They had many fine Selections in the under $100 category. We selected a Napa cab for $55 and I was delicious. Also, this establishment is fully wheelchair accessible unlike too many Long Island restaurants. Chops In Patchogue gets my highest recommendation. Well done !!

Went here with the boyfriend for a date night, I thought the restaurant was sooo cute and the food was amazing. We got the steak for two and some shallots along with the creamy spinach. The staff was amazing and we will be going back.

Bee's Knees

Came here for LI Restaurant Week for dinner for 2 and was very pleased with my choice for this year! Immediately as I walked into to the unassuming front, I was greeted by maybe the warmest opening I've ever received at a restaurant (shout out to the hostess, I think her name was Theresa!) and was sat a table that even had a little sign with my name on it that said reserved, very cute added touch. Service never felt rushed and the staff all around were very helpful with any questions and asks. Ambiance is great, a small speakeasy style retro decor that still makes you feel just a little bit posh without it feeling like being too formal. Most importantly to me though, sound levels were perfect, could hear my date perfect, no need to yell or lean in just to enjoy each other's company. Starting out with drinks, we had the Bee's Knees (a delightfully sweet and refreshing gin drink as the warm weather finally comes to a close) and the red sangria (as classic as any sangria I've had elsewhere). We did the price fixed menu for restaurant week so for starters we had the fried calamari and the lamb chops. Both delicious but my personal favorite was the calamari, and they did not skimp on the portion! For entrees we got the Filet mignon and the duck l'orange. Duck can be tough to get right, but it's one of my favorites so when I see it on a menu, I often go cross-eyed and order without a second thought. And I'm glad I did. The steak was tender and delicious, but the duck had the perfect chew and delicious savory sauce to go with it. Normally I'm a roasted potatoes over mashed kind of guy, but Chops mashed was definitely my preferred of the two we tried, perfectly smooth and buttery, without being too rich. Lastly for dessert, we had the chocolate cake and the puff pastry with vanilla ice cream and peaches. They use the word decadent to describe this cake and that is no false advertising, it is rich and a chocolate lovers wet dream, not to mention I'm a sucker for anything paired with a raspberry sauce. The pastry is an excellent lighter choice too, the peaches were sweet and fresh and definitely a great complement to a meal that might be on the heavier side. Parking can be a little spotty to find in Patchogue around main street on a busy night, but there is street parking and some municipal lots around if you don't mind walking a bit. I also believe they have valet service on Friday nights and weekends if you're really feeling swanky. This is a great little steak house hidden among so many other big names, but I think you should really prioritize this place if you want something a little bit extra special in every little department. I know I'd be happy to come back and try more of the menu, as long as my wallet isn't hurting too bad!

Hey look ma we made it! The decor immediately takes you to a different time and definitely a different place. When you enter you feel like it's a secret hide out/speakeasy, dimly lit with flickering chandelier. It's definitely an experience for the eyes, and senses. It's a tight space and a little shocking how many people can fit inside. Four person high-top tables line the left side and a long bar on the right, which makes for great entertainment as they smoke different whiskeys. A couple lower tables in the back. As far as food goes know that you are going to get some great items and pay the price. Our group had the chicken, two filets and a cowboy. Zero complaints. Most sides are separate so we got a variety to share including the asparagus, burnt broccoli (I asked for medium burnt lol), potatoes and truffle fries. Honestly I think the broccoli was the best thing but I'm bias, I love me some broccoli. For apps we got the carpaccio, I wouldn't get it again. Not that it was bad just not for me. Our server was very accommodating and made sure my gluten free friend was safe. I also like the fact that they weren't pushy nor trying to push us out when our meal and drinks were wrapping up. A note as well the chicken came with potatoes not super seasoned and carrots so that was a bonus, it doesn't really require a side order. Overall I'd say it was a great experience but I wouldn't come here weekly or monthly for dinners. The drinks were superb so perhaps a pop in for the bar. Note RIP to all the Rosemary sprigs lost for decoration. For price, including tip for four people and an abundance of food and two rounds of drinks, six hundred dollars and two hours of time.

The service was impeccable--our waiter was friendly, and really made us feel taken care of. But, as much as I wanted to keep coming back, the food just didn't live up to the expectations that the beautiful setting and upscale prices would suggest. I had high hopes, but some of the skepticism after reading other reviews which was unfortunately spot on: the food here is incredibly underwhelming for the price. Appetizers: Clams Casino: For $18, I was expecting a little more than six tiny clams, each one was rubbery, overcooked, and lacked any of the depth of flavor. Cajun Seared Tuna: I love a good tuna, and this one came close to being a standout. The sear was fine, and the temperature was just shy of medium, but the wasabi and teriyaki drizzle felt lazy. I've had better. Entrees: Mahi Mahi: Broiled, not seared, it wasn't terrible. The fish was a little on the dry side, but the overall flavor was decent, especially with the grilled pineapple topping. Still, for what it cost, I expected a more flavorful and tender piece of fish. Halibut (Dinner Special): This was really disappointing. Halibut is such a beautiful fish, delicate and buttery, but what I was served was far from it. The fish was overcooked, and the accompanying risotto was undercooked--nothing like the creamy, perfectly al dente risotto you'd expect at a restaurant of this caliber. It was bland, dry, and sorely lacking in seasoning. I had to add so much salt and pepper. Two mixed drinks, two beers, the two entrees, and two Apps added up to well over $200 (with tip). You're paying for the ambiance here, which is undeniably great, but the food just doesn't justify the cost. Despite the beautiful setting and excellent service, I'm not sure I'd be returning. Unless bad night for the cooks? Drift 82 has potential, but for now, it's more of a "look but don't touch" kind of place for me.

Then I had the pulled pork slider, which was really good, but BABY... those short rib croquettes? To. Die. For. I also had to get my classic deviled eggs. A little heavy-handed on the paprika, but still solid. Drinks were half off, so of course I indulged. Started with an espresso martini because I needed something to jumpstart my day. Then I had a French martini because duh--I'm a French girl ‍. That one was good. Finished with my classic cosmo. My 3 star review is based on our overall experience over the years. If I was basing my review on this one visit alone, I would not even give it three stars. The ambience and service here are very good. Chachama is located in a non-descript strip of stores. The restaurant however is pleasant surprise . Classy , elegant and upscale. When you enter you are surprised because the interior is not what you based on the location and exterior. We started out with a few cocktails. I had an old-fashioned, which was quite good. My wife had a glass of Pinot Grigio. A very slim pour but she enjoyed the wine. For appetizers I had the butter nut squash soup. Good, not great. Somewhat Lacking in flavor but overall well done. My wife had the pumpkin ravioli. Again, good but not as flavorful as expected. For dinner I had the rigatoni. Similar theme to the appetizers. The presentation is beautiful. Definitely an adequate dish, but nothing to write home about. My wife had the black Angus braised short rib. It was terrible. Extremely fatty and virtually inedible. This was pointed out to our server. His response was "I will tell the chef". For dessert we both had the chocolate cake. Pretty tasty but an extremely small portion. I'm not sure if the quality of our dinner was due to the fact that it was restaurant week. If it was, that is not acceptable. I don't believe restaurant week should result in lesser quality and smaller portions. I believe you should receive the same quality and portion size you would any other day of the week. If this is the tactic they are using. It does not fly with me. After our most recent visit, I won't say we wouldn't return, however it has lost some luster.
