The service here was impeccable! Very friendly and accommodating. Started off with the drinks virgin mojito and a pina colada which was amazing. Appetizer nachos was very good but the eloltes loco was so delicious! Main meal we had the birra tacos and the carne asada tacos very very tasty. Very clean inside beautifully decorated. No complaints here, so glad I found them on TikTok definitely will come back.

I asked one of the workers if the lot was full and where they were going to park the incoming cars. He told me that they had an "additional parking lot" behind the location. I decided to drive out myself and go find street parking. I ended up finding a parking spot on a street called Madeleine Place, which was about a block and a half away from the restaurant. This was when I noticed that the valet workers were actually parking the vehicles on the same exact block. I didn't appreciate that I was lied to in regard to having an additional parking lot behind the location because I think it's important for the patrons to know where exactly their car will be while they are having dinner. After entering the restaurant, we were told to have a drink at the bar because our table wasn't ready yet, which was fine because we were several minutes early. The hostess told us that a table was paying and we would be seated shortly. While we were at the bar waiting, we must have seen three or four tables of two that had left the location. We thought we would be seated at one of those tables, however, we were actually taken to a dining area upstairs. Just to preface, the person I was dining with has dined at this restaurant numerous times with another friend who is extremely generous when it comes to paying and leaving a tip. However, on this particular night, that friend was not with us, and I feel strongly that is the reason why they did not seat us at one of those empty tables on the first floor. They brought us upstairs to a more secluded dining area. The service upstairs was significantly worse compared to the service that my friend had received numerous times on the first floor. You could also see the difference in patrons between the first floor and second floor. The food.. Presentation is great! But the taste -- sub-par! We ordered the baked artichoke from the appetizer menu, which was loaded with some type of dressing and so much cheese that you could barely taste the artichoke. We also ordered a Caesar salad, which was so mediocre. We ordered a side of asparagus was very bland. We then ordered the filet mignon, which was decent, but I feel like it's overpriced for the taste. In regard to our drink order, we were only asked once if we wanted a drink, and we felt extremely rushed throughout. I'm only giving this three stars because I can't give it 2 1/2. I personally did not have a good experience at this restaurant and I definitely won't be returning nor will I recommend it. They started off on a bad foot by lying about the parking situation.

I even received a rose for the occasion! However, we waited 10 minutes before someone finally approached us and asked, 'Is anyone helping you? Are you okay with tap water?' I understand it was a busy Valentine's Day weekend, but I expected a proper greeting rather than just being asked about tap water. When she brought the water, she asked if it was our first time. We said yes, expecting a brief explanation of the restaurant's concept. Instead, she just said, 'Technically, the meats will come to you, and you can go to the market and get anything you want. That's our special for tonight, you can go ahead and head over to the marketplace.' We went to the 'marketplace,' and it was delicious! We tried several items, and everything was tasty and fresh. Salads. Cold cuts. Rice. Beans. Zero complaints there. Back at the table, the gauchos began bringing the meats--filet mignon, picanha, sausage, bacon-wrapped steak, chicken, and lamb. Everything was cooked to perfection. The service, however, stayed subpar. My mango caipirinha arrived five minutes later, but my husband's Coke never showed up. We waited all dinner for it and never received it. Our waitress only came back once because we flagged her down for water, and then again for the check. Even the tables around us were wondering where she was. This was extremely disappointing!!! Zero smiles or a nice tone from Her. The food was delicious (5 stars), but the service she provided was definitely 0 stars. I want to come back for the food, but the service is making me think twice.

Listen, I'm just as surprised as you…read more I tend to be wary of very expensive restaurants on Long Island. Many of them charge city prices with mediocre fare, and truly, Chops was never on my list because of it. With that being said, a friend and I were looking for the most bang for our buck during restaurant week and since Chops was on the list, we figured, why not? Inside is dimly lit with red and black hues throughout. The staff was super kind (and honestly had jokes) throughout the night. For starters we ordered the baby lamb chops, I ordered the salmon and for dessert, the banana pudding. It did take a while for our food to arrive but I guess that's as expected with restaurant week! The lamb, buttery and salted well. A welcome surprise considering how meager it looked on the plate. The salmon itself, well cooked with a lovely pistachio crust. But my favorite dish of the night was that banana pudding. It was overwhelmingly packed with caramelized banana flavor and I loved it. My friend raved about her porkchop and cheesecake. For the amount that we paid, it was such a satisfying meal. With all that being said, if I had paid market price, I'm not sure I'd be quite as happy. But, overall, its a good, solid steakhouse to try out!

The problem is that this restaurant has such a huge reputation and people rave about it so much that my expectations were very high. Unfortunately, I left thinking, "That was good... but THAT'S what everyone is raving about?" The pros: We got the porterhouse for two, and to be fair, the steak was tender and juicy and cooked well. The home fries were crispy and delicious, and the fried zucchini was crunchy and delicious. There were also plenty of employees around, so we were never exactly wondering where our waiter was. But there were quite a few things that made me scratch my head: First impressions matter, and the valet situation was confusing. The valet station is right by the front entrance, and pulling in, it wasn't immediately clear where you were supposed to go. Then we sat down and got cold bread and butter that was basically a hockey puck. Seriously... how am I supposed to butter cold bread with butter that could probably break a window? I'm going to an expensive steakhouse, I intentionally didn't eat much all day, and one of the first things put in front of me is basically something inedible. It sounds like a small thing, but at this level of restaurant, those little details matter. Warm bread and spreadable butter is something the cheesecake factory can manage. How is this their norm? There were also employees EVERYWHERE. I appreciate being well staffed, but there were so many workers standing around and huddled together that it actually made the restaurant feel a little chaotic. At one point I felt like there were more employees than customers. I was also pretty surprised there was no drink menu. No beer menu. No cocktail menu. Apparently I'm just supposed to have the waiter verbally list every beer they carry and order a cocktail without knowing what it costs. My wife wanted a specialty cocktail, and there wasn't even a menu to look through. Her Tito's martini was $25. Again, $25 isn't necessarily shocking at a high-end steakhouse, but I would like to know that before I order it. And she ordered it extra dirty, yet somehow it came out really sweet. Not exactly what she was going for. Another head-scratcher: every single appetizer was seafood. I understand seafood is popular, but literally every appetizer? For someone who doesn't eat seafood, that's a pretty big disappointment. Now for the star of the show: the steak. We got the porterhouse for two. Tender? Yes. Juicy? Yes. Flavorful? Not really. This was probably my biggest food disappointment. The steak wasn't bad whatsoever, but it needed seasoning. For a steakhouse with this reputation, I expected that first bite to be a "holy crap, that's good" moment. Instead, I was reaching for the salt. Some garlic, seasoning, or something to give it more flavor would have gone a long way. $160 for the porterhouse. $16 for home fries. $16 for zucchini. $25 for a martini After tax and tip, we're basically at $300 for dinner for two, and we didn't even get an appetizer or a drink for myself. I'm not mad that it cost $300, I'm mad that it didn't feel like a $300 experience. If I went to a moderately priced steakhouse and had this meal, I'd probably be saying it was great. But when you're charging these prices and have people talking about you like you're one of the best steakhouses around, the standard is different. I'm willing to pay for exceptional. I just didn't get exceptional. Maybe I'm being overly critical, but if I'm paying $300+ for dinner, I'm going to be critical. If I had gone in knowing nothing about the restaurant, I'd probably give it 4 stars and say we had a good dinner. But after hearing all the hype and having such high expectations 3 is all they earned from me Good steak. Good sides. Nice atmosphere. Plenty of staff. But I walked out thinking, "That's it?" I wasn't disappointed enough to say I had a bad experience. I just wasn't nearly impressed enough to understand why everyone seems to rave about this place.
