    FRANKIES 823 table starter!

It is no longer Villa Sorrento, but it is called Frankie's 823, if you haven't been here, please come support this local restaurant. The food is amazing and the service is just as good! I promise you will not be disappointed! And if you're lucky enough, Frankie himself will read off the specialist list to you, which is super long!

Date night out with my husband, we had gift cards so decided to come here. Place is small and cozy, with a separate room for parties. Service was excellent. We were seated quickly and got water and bread without having to ask for it. For appetizers my husband and I both had the special - lobster bisque with crabmeat. Huge portion and very good. For dinner, I had the Pappardelle pasta & boneless short rib. Really nice one dish meal, and the short rib had delicious flavor. My husband had the fresh fettuccine & filet mignon. He said for an Italian place, the steak was very good. Both dishes were very filling. For dessert I had the pistachio truffle and my husband had the chocolate flourless cake. Cake was rich but the ice cream complemented it nicely. The pistachio truffle was beautifully presented and had excellent flavors. Overall, the meal was excellent, and service was good too. I would definitely come back again.

Finally got back to a long standing neighborhood classic after many years courtesy of gift cards from a good friend. Accommodated us without a reservation and had a great spot near the fireplace. Restaurant was decorated nicely and service was excellent. Maple old fashion to start with our burrata salad with crispy prosciutto, accompanied by the delicious warm bread which they kindly provided extra! My special basil encrusted halibut was delicious as was the pappardelle and short ribs. Finished with a very nice cocoa tartuffo. Definitely heading back and not waiting so long!.

Went there for a function with a group. The service was great. I have some food allergies. The waiter was very accommodating. The bread was fresh, the salad and steak was decent. It was a prefix so I think the portion size was probably Not what it would be if we came in for a regular dinner. We will definitely come back on our own.

Villa Sorrento. I enjoyed the atmosphere as much as the food. The Chicken Sorrentino. It was delicious, don't avoid this dish! The salad and the seared tuna are both a go to as well, the owner is nice and the service is bomb.

Upon entering we were warmly welcomed. While we decided on what we would be having, we were given complimentary fried zucchini strips & bread. The wait staff is very attentive. Having never been here but using Yelp as my foodie guide, with its high star rating, I somehow missed that this establishment is prixe fixed so you cannot order a La carte anything. I honestly wish I had read more reviews instead of focusing on just the high-star rating. Anyway, the prize fixed menu includes appetizer, main entree, dessert and coffee for $38.95 with up charges for specific items that are clearly marked. Of course, both myself and my hubby chose entrees (veal parmigiana and meat lasagna) with a $5.95 up charge for each. On this Friday night, there was live music. It was very fitting for this Italian restaurant with its cozy Italian bistro/cafe atmosphere. It made it feel like date night. Hearing the music in the background was very enjoyable. Now the food, which came out in a nice even pace so we were not rushed. The appetizers of baked clams and eggplant rollatine were good. My veal parmigiana was absolutely delicious and prepared perfectly. My hubby's meat lasagna was good but in comparison to my dish it missed the mark. The desserts & coffee were fine, but certainly nothing overly special. I'm the person who looks at dessert first because I look forward to that extra special thing at the end of the meal. Overall a nice dinner out with my hubby.

It was early, we had a 5pm reservation and the restaurant was pretty quiet. My friends arrived a few minutes later and we were seated immediately also in the bar area as was requested. Our waitress came over to ask about drinks then the busboy arrived with warm garlic knots and focaccia, both were very good. We ordered the gluten free fried zucchini, which I have to say I liked better then most other versions I've had. It seems they have an extensive menu of gluten free options which my friend appreciated very much. I got the Pollo Florendena which is two large chicken cutlets breaded and fried with spinach & mozzarella in a brown gravy served with vegg (string beans) and a small potato croquette. The chicken was tender, the gravy tasty and the beans not over cooked. The potato was meh. I took home most of my dinner. One friend ordered the Tortellini Aligherieri but substituted GF pasta, she enjoyed it very much. The other person ordered Vitello Saltimbocca which is veal with prosciutto, eggplant and mozz in a marsala sauce. It usually comes with veg & pot but she substituted penna in a garlic oil sauce which was very good. We had no room for dessert but there were many selections and one day I'll try. All in all a very nice meal, the restaurant has no issue making substitution, the portions are very large and prices were reasonable. The place was packed when we left at around 6:30 and I can understand why.

Service - 4/5 - friendly and attentive. Ambiance - 3/5 - nice vibe with open fire, slightly tacky and dark. Overall - 4/5 - this is one of those places that is worth visiting once then probably not again. Everything was good but for the price you can get equally as good food at a budget. Food was really good, particularly the Wild Boar Gnocchi Ragu & Pistachio Cake, both easily worth a try. Service was great as well. Friendly, attentive, some conversation there, was good service. Ambiance was a mixed bag. While the indoors is really nice with a cool open flame, it can be dark inside and a little tacky (easy 4 if it wasn't as dark). Definitely worth a visit at one point but not as a regular spot. Best Dish - Wild Boar Ragu Gnocchi, Pistachio Cake Would Return - Probably not

Recently, I decided to give it another shot on two separate times, and some of their specialty pies: the vodka pizza with a garlic knot crust and the trio pizza (pesto, marinara, and vodka). I'll start with the positives--service was friendly and welcoming, which definitely made the experience more pleasant. And to be fair, the flavors across the pies were actually pretty good. The sauces complemented each other well. That said, the biggest issue--was the dough. It was noticeably undercooked which made the slices a bit doughy and hard to enjoy. On top of that, the pizza was quite greasy, which didn't help the overall texture. The undercooked dough stood out enough that it took away from what could have been a really solid pie. Another small note: the dining area looked like it could've used a quick sweep. Not a huge deal, but something that affects the overall impression when you walk in. I wouldn't completely write this place off, because the flavors are there and the staff is friendly. If I give it another try, I'd probably stick with a regular pie or maybe a Sicilian and specifically ask for it to be cooked well done. I think that could make a big difference.

Everything was delicious and fresh, I only wished I lived close to this place because I would eat here all the time. Monday night dinner and only a few tables were filled which seemed strange to me since the food was A+, but the takeout was poppin. We started with 6 garlic knots. If you think you only need 6...you are wrong. You need 12, I'm serious! Such warm, crusty, garlicky goodness, they were gone in 60 seconds and we had to order more. - Caprese salad had perfectly ripe yellow and red tomato with a seriously gigantic ball of buffalo mozz - Caesar salad was a little too heavy on the dressing - fresh pasta so good! Papparadella with pesto and fresh mozz & rigatoni bolognese. Flavorful sauces! - Forresta pizza crust was so perfectly thin & crispy and the prosciutto was shaved thin and cooked crispy. Great combo with the arugula - sadly they were out of the tiramasu and sorbet so we tried a cannoli and it was very large filled with rich creamy ricotta and chocolate chips - thanks to a fellow yelper find...they have Mexican Coke!
