    Cold chips, watered dips

Chilies 51st / Harvard Arrived at lunch time. They were obviously corralling customers into one central location. Packed like sardines. It occurred to me later that about 1/2 the restaurant was shut off. We were seated right in the middle of it. One particular table was so loud we asked to be moved. No problem. Our waitress was nice enough. Hubby ordered a hamburger and bowl of chili. I quickly ordered from the lunch offerings: soup and double cheeseburger slider ( although they don't call it a slider). Well, no. They just haven't changed the menu; they no longer offer the hamburger-- not stocking the "smaller" hamburger patties. So I reordered -- Caesar salad and Bacon, chicken, cheese, Ranch quesadillas. Hubby reported his food was just that: hamburger and chili. Refer to photos of my food. The definition of Caesar salad is torn Romaine, croutons, with a dressing of mustard, oil, Worcestershire, lemon juice, garlic and anchovies. Theirs contained no Romaine. Instead, iceberg & you can see the 2 wilted pieces of Spring mix mine included. The standard bottled Caesar dressing wasn't bad. Fact is, it was the only thing. I couldn't believe all the cold chips that accompanied the quesadillas. There were 5, 6 quesadilla triangles. Simply awful. The bacon was represented in microscopic bits. The cheese was just zapped and hard. I completely forgot it had Ranch until I took apart the last piece, which I resorted to -- just scraping off the interior. The red sauce? Both it and the offered Ranch seemed watered down. To even taste the flavorless salsa I figured out you had to take a fork and strain it. The commercial Caesar dressing was the only thing with any taste. Right after lunch I visited a friend who mentioned her daughter's love of Chili's. My jaw dropped. She said they eat there and get take out often. Her jaw dropped when I showed her my pictures. She said they love the Chili's in Owasso. Hubby later he concurred-- he remembered that store being okay. Then, shock upon shock, I was watching a NYC originated talk show and the subject of Chili's came up! They all said they loved Chili's. Conclusion: don't ditch Chili's, just don't patronize this store.

Chili's is right down the middle and I mean that in a positive way. It's not the best in the world but it's far from the worst in the world and has enough variance in the menu to have something for everyone. The portions and the price point are also good. I ordered curbside pickup and it was ready and brought out on time. The steak was cooked to temperature and the sides were good too which were Mexican rice and black beans.

Went after working out and had great service. The food was just okay and the chicken strips were a weird batter but not bad.

My experience with this Chili's in particular (51st and Yale) has been very good. Much better than my experience at other Chilis locations.

He even brought our beers with a cocktail glass with salt, which was a nice touch. The SALSA was too HOT! We tried a couple of them, & we couldn't taste anything for the heat. I usually like a little heat, but this was over the top hot. My husband felt the same way & I've talked to a couple other people since then & they said the same thing. We asked the waiter if there was a mild salsa, but he said there was not. I would certainly encourage you to consider making a milder one. I ordered the crispy enchiladas served with ensalada y avocado, along with beans & rice. I also ordered one tamale to try. Everything was delicious. Very good quality food. The tamale was one of the best I've ever eaten. My husband ordered the brisket tacos & found them too greasy, which is unusual for him; however he was agreeable to eating there again, but would try another dish. We will be back, but will just skip the salsa & brisket tacos!

We ordered our food and I got the crispy taco dinner. I will say the place was busy, but we had to wait nearly an hour for our food, and they didn't even bring everyone's food out. It took another 15 minutes for them to bring the rest of the food. Overall, the chips and queso was very good, and the food came out fresh and hot. My tacos were delicious. Our waiter was very nice and apologetic about the wait time. The place had a very nice interior and had clean bathrooms, to go along with a great ambiance. Overall, this place gave us a pretty solid experience and I would recommend it if you are looking for good Mexican food in the Tulsa area.

It's well-worn but clean. Staff is quick and friendly. The prices are very reasonable. You'll leave full, but not bloated. I've been a fan of El Rio Verde for many years and always look forward to eating here. It's not a large place and only has perhaps four or five booths and a half-dozen tables, and it fills up fast at lunch. They're known for their "Wet Burrito," but the enchiladas and burritos are also outstanding. The refried beans are fresh and made in-house. The salsa is freshly made too and very good, but not memorable like the food. You'll see people from all walks of life eating here - couples, single moms with children, police officers, business people, blue collar workers, and everyone in-between. If you want really good Mexican food that is not TexMex or from a chain restaurant, try this place! You won't regret it! One of my favorite places in Tulsa. However, as of this review, be aware that Utica Avenue, just east of the restaurant, has been blocked to north-bound traffic only for water main replacement, so getting into the neighborhood is easier than leaving. Plan to go toward downtown on the service road next to I-244 for most efficient egress.
