Great service and delicious food! Definitely check out the specials listed outside before going in. Great typical American breakfast. Scattered with some Mexican food but if you like authentic you'll be disappointed. I tried the chilaquiles today and although tasty they were not what I wanted. Chunks of pork and shredded American cheese ruined it for me. BUT it wasn't bad. I just was in the mood for authentic. Took a picture after so obviously it was good enough to eat. Just left the pork. My son had the eggs, bacon, and sausage with hash brown and toast. All perfectly cooked. Service as always was excellent. Ambiance is clean, small establishment. Gets very busy. Mostly tables and chairs. Wall of cushioned benches and 2 booths. Come early or be willing to wait. Never been too long though, they process orders quickly. Definitely give this place a try.

Good food, good service, extensive menu, and great senior prices. It is hard to go wrong at Cheliz for breakfast or lunch.

Red chilaquiles & green Chilaquiles

Their red chilaquiles are my favorite super crunchy, flavorful, and served in generous portions. They're actually famous for their green pork chilaquiles, but since I don't eat pork, I always go for the red ones and they never disappoint.

OMG! This place is a must! Food is SO good! We flew in from Atlanta and were hungry for Mexican food so I went to Yelp to find a spot and saw Cheliz! When we first walked in I was concerned that there wasn't any Mexican dishes but Rosalia and Lorena told us about the Jiwvoa Rancheros, Tamales plate, and Verde Burrito - the verde sauce is MONEY! We ate every morsel on the plate! We loved it so much that we are going back tomorrow for breakfast! And I will take a few seconds to take pictures!

Steak and Eggs

Another stop thanks to Yelp. The service here was outstanding and the food was just as good. I ordered the NY steak and eggs but the steak was as tendered as a ribeye. I almost think they confused the two but the steak did not have ribeye fat. They cooked it to perfection which was a pleasant surprise. The chilaquiles were tasty but needed spice. I would recommend spicing up the green sauce a little. It was good but I think adding a jalapeño or Serrano to it would make it perfect. This place is worth the 4.5-5 stars on Yelp.

This is a hidden little gem in Redlands. Good food and reasonably priced. Our server Alexis was so sweet and helpful. Our food was very tasty and came out fast. I'm a stickler for poached eggs done correctly and they hit the mark here. Perfectly cooked whites and a runny yolk center. The only recommendation I would make is that they make the avocado toast on Sourdough instead of wheat bread. Everything was on point. Ill be back if Im in Redlands or passing through again. Recommend 100%

Looks like a piece of toast. Supposed to be french toast! Where's the cinnamon?!
Michael B.

First off, I ordered by phone and even gave them 10 extra minutes after they said my breakfast would be ready in ten. However, my biggest beef is the french toast. First, only one bread, not two, then the "chef" didnt put any love in making them by forgetting the cinnamon! At this point, it's not french toast! Worst french toast I've ever had! Period. And how much all of us pay now for basic dishes at restaurants makes it worse!

Bacon, sausage, eggs and hash browns.

Food was good, service was slow even though it wasn't packed, simple and clean ambiance.

Located in a strip mall and easy to find. Ample parking. The place wasn't too busy when we arrived. The staff was nice. The food was delicious. The fried chicken was so crispy and seasoned well. The onion rings looked delicious but had a flour-like taste. They were crispy though. I would come back for sure

We decided on weekend brunch, especially since there were endless mimosas. Our kids have a recollection of being down the class umbrella alleyway, so they were amazed when they saw it. A short while later, we were in front of the restaurant and were quickly seated by the staff. They didn't ask if we preferred outdoor or indoor seating, but we were seated inside right next to the kitchen. We heard that indoor seating was better for service anyway. The interior of the restaurant was "very fancy," and my daughter thought we were in a date spot. We knew we wanted French fries and opted for the garlic Parmesan fries. At first, the kids were weirded out by the arugula, but my daughter ended up enjoying it, noting the bitter and salty notes. My son devoured the entire plate (not the arugula) and asked for another round. We also ordered the lemon ricotta French toast, made from Brioche bread, lemon blackberry butter, whipped lemon ricotta cream, blackberries, mint, and maple syrup. They perfected the crispy exterior, which contrasted well with the fluffy bread. My wife ordered the breakfast pizza--a focaccia pizza topped with marinara, ham, spinach, fresh tomato, red onion, a sunny-side-up egg, and herb-infused maple syrup. This was really delicious with the tart, fresh tomatoes, the salty ham, and the sweet maple syrup. I ended up eating the sunny-side egg by itself, so we didn't get to try the pizza with the egg. Lastly, I ordered the steak and eggs, but it was sadly a small portion. I ordered it medium rare, and it came out medium. The seasoning was a bit strange and would have been better with simple salt, pepper, and garlic. The mimomas really made my wife happy. She started feeling it pretty quickly. She chose the pineapple juice while I got the traditional orange. Not sure if the alcohol made the food better or the other way around. I was brought to reality when I saw the expensive bill, though.

The quality of food was fresh, prepared just right, and the service was fast and welcoming. It's in the nice down town Redlands area so never too busy or loud, in the small city. Our server, Aubrey, was also AWESOME so definitly give her a raise lol. My buddies and I were wanting some steaks and drinks after work, and we were not disappointed. 100% will be back. The only thing to be weary of is if you get outdoor seating. Many folks downtown tend to smoke marijuana so sometimes the smell will make its way into the patio area.

Definitely a fun spot for a fancy cocktail--or, in my case, a mocktail. I ordered the Hibiscus Cooler and LOVED it. The food was more of a mixed bag. I ordered the Poblano Burger, and the deep-fried poblano was SO good. Unfortunately, I ordered the patty medium and it came out overcooked. The fries were also a little undercooked, and the burger could have used more sauce. Tasty overall, just not quite hitting the mark. Then came dessert... and this is where the experience really went downhill. I ordered the crème brûlée because I've had it elsewhere and had been craving it. While waiting, I stepped away to use the restroom. When I came back, my entire table--including my drinks--had been cleared. I had literally just ordered dessert and never indicated I was finished. The server seemed confused when I questioned it, which made the whole thing even more awkward. And unfortunately, the crème brûlée itself was also a miss. The sugar topping was torched too long and had a noticeably bitter, burnt flavor. The server (and possibly a manager) apologized, and I was given $2 off the drink, which I appreciated. Between the okay food and the especially strange service and lack of communication the experience left me disappointed. The atmosphere is definitely the highlight, but for me, the service experience was enough to say I probably won't be back anytime soon.

It's a darn good thing we live too far away, because these two meals could do serious damage to your waistline and your self control. Chicken fried chicken - a big beautiful chicken breast, split and pounded so its thinner. It claimed most of my big platter and hung over the side. It had been hand dipped in a soulful batter that comes out crispy and delicious. Then, it was smothered in a delicious, creamy sausage gravy. The eggs were perfectly scrambled, soft, the country potatoes were made from thinly sliced red potatoes, bell pepper, and onion. A marriage made in heaven. Country fried steak - prepared exactly the same way, but with steak, pounded thin. The size will freak you out, it's so huge. Mr. B chose hash browns and two over-easy eggs. His only complaint? He remarked that the serving of scrambled eggs were much larger. Biscuits. Not sure, but these appeared to be freshly baked, not from a supplier. They were quite nice. They served the gravy on the side, then brought a cup of softened, real butter. The Smuckers blackberry Jam was the final touch. What a temptation. The service was impeckable and friendly. Breakfast Shack is incredibly charming, with indoor, patio, and counter top seating. Much bigger than it's parking lot can accommodate. I was too distracted to notice where most of the masses park but my guess is, in nearby public parking. Real comfort food competing with the very best in So Cal.

Since we were seated at the table closest to the front door, in between the stairs, it was bothersome to have parties waiting to be seated right next to our table. Especially, when kids kept running up and down the stairs. They would also get in the way of the servers bringing food from the kitchen. Just seemed like an accident waiting to happen. What about the food?: Variety of options for either breakfast or lunch. I went with the crab cakes eggs benedict. Yes, my go-to. And my partner had the country benedict. You definitely get a lot for what you pay for. We both would have liked more sauce. Personally, I like my hollandiase with more tang. Ultimately, it was a satisfying meal but not necessarily something I craved to get again. But if i were to go back, I'd go with an omelet and something from the griddle. The service was attentive. We were given our drink orders right away and checked on multiple times. There was a busboy who was really attentive to fulfilling drink orders and cleaning tables once they became vacant. Amazing work ethic! Note: when you pay, you go up to the stand at the entrance to do so. Small parking lot shared with other shops, but there is some street parking. Although, we didnt go on a weekend so I imagine it's tough to find a spot during peak hours. Edited to add photos

Unfortunately, I was not told that the cake would be frozen, and it was also missing the buttercream filling, which is honestly the best part of the cake and what makes it so special. As a result, we ended up serving a partially frozen cake without the filling that we had specifically ordered. For an established bakery and a $70 cake, this was a really disappointing experience, especially on my mom's birthday.
