Wow this place has potential to be the best burgers in the inland empire, no doubt! I kept seeing people come to this place for massive behemoth burgers so I really had to try this place out. I obviously had to order the boss hog which wad absolutely incredible. They definitely don't skimp out on the toppings. I ordered it medium with fresh onions. The pastrami was such a nice touch as well. My wife just ordered the standard, which was great... especially for a burger thats only around $11. Definitely get the tallow fries too! I just had to knock off the stars because I wish they were clear that the add ons were extra cost such as the bacon and avocado. He didn't mention that these were added costs but asked us if we wanted to include these to our burgers. Also, I wouldn't recommend coming inside on a hot day. The AC was just NOT working... Last Thursday I ordered online through the RPM and the order went through for 11:30 am pickup. Got there around 11am but area was dark, just a sign to order at kiosk. At 11:30am still no one around, so flagged down two ladies who worked for RPM who said this business was closed. She refunded my payment and apologized, but RPM needs to adjust online ordering if a business is closed. Both my daughters and I were on a food adventure at Redlands Public Market (RPM) on Memorial Weekend 2026. We got lucky to try #1 Shrimp Corner, #2 Yugo Shokunin, and #3 Beyond Biryani. We're now at our 4th stop of the day and Hen & Heifer (H&H) takes the #4 spot. H&H has been around since the beginning of RPM. They are still going on strong which is fantastic. Their specialty is burgers made with premium American cattle beef that consists of a "blend of three prime cuts of beef ground fresh in-house daily and hand-molded into juicy patties. Food is made with fresh, never frozen ingredients and, when in season, sourced from local farms in California." Very cool! Young gentleman who took my order was nice and cordial. I asked for recommendation since it was my first time here. I don't eat beef anymore so I was limited to the chicken sandwiches and appetizers which I was perfectly fine with. He recommended the Chickenator and that's what I got. It came with a thin slab of chicken filet along with roasted poblano pepper, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and homemade jalapeño dressing on a brioche bun. It looked great and tasted good. All ingredients worked well together, but portion was smaller than expected. It needs to be bigger for a $15+ sandwich. I also added an order of Fried Zucchini... second best decision of the day! It was SO GOOD. I was in heaven. Perfectly fried with a thin layer of tasty batter. Zucchini was fresh, sweet, and full size thick. Portion was abundant. I just wanted to gobbled them up. Highly recommend it to be paired with any burger or sandwich. They also offer half onion rings + half fried zucchini... I may get that next time. We were still sitting at Shrimp Corner's area. Got to save your seating spot for most of your dining stay at the food hall. Otherwise, someone will snatch it. I will be sure to return to H&H for another chicken sandwich that meets the size I am desiring and definitely to gobble up more fried zucchini. Even though I didn't eat their beef burgers, they are said to be delicious per other reviews. If you love burgers, come get you some beefy goodness! My family and I have been frequenting the Redlands Public Market almost weekly. We recently ended up trying Hen & Heifer and had a great meal. Portions were generous and the food was tasty and good quality. Definitely one of our favorite stalls at the Public Market. Our order consisted of the - Baby Boy Roy Sliders - Pastrami Nation sandwich - Stinky Parma fries Quality meal with leftovers. Everything tasted super fresh and the meal overall exceeded our expectations. Although I ordered sliders, they came as a pair and were hefty. I ended up boxing my second one. I also loved the Stinky Parma fries. There was no skimping out on any garlic or parm flavor on these fries. They truly tasted exactly as titled, but in the best way. If you love garlic, parmesean fries, do not sleep on the Stinky Parma fries! Our only gripe was the wait time. It was far from accurate from what we were quoted (which ultimately made us late for our next stop) as we waited almost an additional 25 minutes. We also weren't informed when the food was ready. We only got our food because my husband checked on it after waiting for so long. Overall, the food quality and taste overshadowed the extended wait time for the food. We would definitely give them a try again when craving that type of fare while at the Redlands Public Market. read more

Tried this place in Pomona and was ecstatic to see theres a location much closer to me (because I was still thinking about their burgers). It's inside the Redlands Public Market and on a random Monday night, looks to be the busiest restaurant. We got the Bomb Bay, Floozie Lucy & an order of chili cheese fries. The Floozie Lucy was a good burger but I didn't care much for the stuffed patty as I have problems with texture. The main star was the Bomb Bay! It was a double patty with the thickest, crunchiest, most delicious bacon I've ever eaten. It paired well with the jalapeño dressing. It had a little kick and though the burger itself was big; I was still hoping for seconds since it was so flavorful. The chili cheese fries were also delicious. The food here is made fresh to order, you can customize how well you like your patty cooked. With the quality, you can tell it's fresh food made to order. Downside to that is that it does take about 20 minutes and can be on the pricer side. But totally worth it! If you're a ranch lover, get their ranch dressing. It comes at extra cost but was a good staple for me. Overall, solid burger spot! read more

I ordered a chicken salad on a Friday night. The whole marketplace was busy. However, my husband ordered a dish from a different vendor, and he received and ate his entire meal before I received a text my salad was ready. I was annoyed at the wait but not a huge deal. When I went to pick up the salad, the guy at the counter said they did not have the dressing I ordered (Italian or balsamic), and my options were ranch or thousand island dressing. I let the him know that I do not eat those dressings, and I asked if there was any other option. He told me, no. So I let him know I did not want the salad, and I would like a refund because that wasn't the dressing I ordered. He was not at all apologetic and asked me if I ordered it from the counter or the kiosk. I told him I ordered it at the kiosk, and pointed to the sign in front of the register that said, "order at the kiosk." He did call the owner and requested a refund, which the owner approved. I was a bit annoyed because he didn't tell the owner why I requested the refund. He just said I ordered a salad and didn't want it. I requested a refund because I did not receive what I ordered. Then again, I probably didn't want the salad from them anyway because I watched him take a towel and wipe the bottom of his shoe off and then place the towel on the counter. He then proceeded to wipe his hands with that same towel. I watched him touch several things in the kitchen area after that. I don't see the charge from the restaurant on my card, so they were honest. But based on the hygiene practices of the front counter worker, I will not eat there. read more

The Hen and Heifer is inside the Redlands Public Market. I got a burger they call the Mexican. It was extremely juicy, and I loved the roasted poblano pepper that was on it. I also added a side of the Belgian fries. These are some of the best fries I've ever tried. Their menu is quite extensive, and I will be back to try more of it. read more

Hen & Heifer is part of a food court in downtown Redlands across from the train station. The ambiance is young, noisy and as expected very casual. The food, OMG!!! The flavor!! I order the KBBQ mushroom fries. It was great and filling. That was enough on its own for a meal. The house salad was huge. I couldn't eat all of either. My daughter tried the Lil Kim fries, again full of flavor and the Creaminal burger which she devoured. My husband ate all of his Blues burger and onion rings. No complaint from any of us. This was my first time at Hen & Heifer and it was pretty good. The menu is detailed and you will need to read the description. It's a lot of words for a menu! Haha. Service was mediocre. We waited a bit before the cashier took our order but that was no issue as they seemed busy. She didn't once look happy to take our order though and sounded annoyed to answer our questions. Everything is sold separately so the burgers don't come with fries. I ordered the standard and a side of fries $16. The burgers was good and flavorful and came with lots of veggies. Service: BEWARE!!! The cashier was not friendly AT ALL, not sure if she was having a bad day but as a first time customer. I almost cancelled the order due to it. Food: we ordered the Bomb bay, excited about the jalapeño dressing, but to our disappointment... we tasted none of it. Not sure if it's a tiny bit of spread or if it was forgotten on our burger . However, The burger meat we ordered medium and it was PERFECT. Juicy and delicious. Overall: paying $27 for one burger (with tip) was NOT worth it. The reason for the 3 star review is cook temperature. 3 out of 4 visits I've had undercooked, damn near raw meat and it doesn't seem to matter how I order it. I've tried medium rare, medium, and medium well and they can't seem to get it right. That being said, so far The Creaminal has been my favorite burger. Its loaded with jalepeno and cream cheese. The spicy sauce on the Lucy burger is awesome, too. The food is good, no doubt about it. Once they get their cook temps locked down I'd happily update my review. read more

The Hen & Heifer is located in the north-east corner of the Redlands Public Market (RPM). The parking for this venue is surprisingly convenient in the new 4 level parking structure. If you expand my menu pics you'll get the jest of the type of burger and meat restaurant that they are. The staff was helpful. The text order notification system worked well. Relative to our food order, at another restaurant, they were extremely slow. (I saw customers who had ordered before me waiting for their food.) I ordered the Mac N Down Burger, see my pic. It was cooked to my order. And kudos for size (I believe the actual patty is 6 oz, but there was ample meat.) Underneath the burger are fried Mac N Cheese balls. The burger bites were a mouthful: great texture, savory and juicy. However, the flavors were a bit mild. I liked the juiciness and richness of the hamburger contrasting with the crunch and creaminess of the fried Mac N Cheese balls. This is a treat I won't be telling my Doctor that I had. read more

I'm vegetarian and had difficulty ordering the Mexican with their veggie patty. Most restaurants easily allow ordering any burger and substituting with their veggie patty. They did end up allowing us to order the Mexican with a veggie patty but told us that we can't do that in the future... and basically to stick to the vegetarian menu. I love their Mexican burger and had no issues substituting with the veggie patty at their Apollo Burgers location. The Mexican was sooo delicious. The kbbq mushroom fries were great. First thing I noticed was the price of each item. It was quite pricey for what you could get at another burger place serving the same thing. I ordered the classic burger for 10 dollars and change. No fries included! So added onion rings 11 dollars and change. I received my food and tasted the onion rings first with some ranch. The ranch was nothing special. I sat it the side replacing the lid so not mistakenly dipping again. I took a bite of the burger, it was so salty and overpowered by the caramelized onions. So if you feel you need to empty your wallet of twenty plus dollars a person try this place for yourself! The market place is very clean and has many food options. read more

So a week after my initial visit the owner reached out to me and had me all taken care of and accommodated me along with making sure my experience here was exemplary. Purely for the Belgian fries which I was excited for. Didn't try any of the other food as we were grabbing items from other spots in the market, so I can't provide a full picture but I do feel like frying / euro lux burgers was the selling point of this restaurant (serving aioli as a dipping sauce would be indicative of that). Please don't call them Belgian frites because it was all we ordered and it was definitely not that. The fries were limp and oily and some not all the way cooked. Definitely not crispy and that was visible, so should have thought twice before having been the only item served. Ordered the Biggie Smalls with 1/2 onion rings and 1/2 fried zucchini. All of the food was really good and tasted very fresh. The onion rings and zucchini were both crispy and didn't give me that sluggish feeling you get sometimes after eating fried food. Burgers were seasoned well and went perfectly with my IPA. The gentleman working the order counter was friendly. He took the time to answer my questions and go over the various menu items.
