Wow this place has potential to be the best burgers in the inland empire, no doubt! I kept seeing people come to this place for massive behemoth burgers so I really had to try this place out. I obviously had to order the boss hog which wad absolutely incredible. They definitely don't skimp out on the toppings. I ordered it medium with fresh onions. The pastrami was such a nice touch as well. My wife just ordered the standard, which was great... especially for a burger thats only around $11. Definitely get the tallow fries too! I just had to knock off the stars because I wish they were clear that the add ons were extra cost such as the bacon and avocado. He didn't mention that these were added costs but asked us if we wanted to include these to our burgers. Also, I wouldn't recommend coming inside on a hot day. The AC was just NOT working... You'll be sweating while eating your burger.
This place is located inside the Redlands public market. (Corner) Service was good. Vibes were good. We ordered a burger with pastrami. 8/10. It was delicious, just so big, it was hard to manage and becomes pretty mangled. Burger can't with fries with a price of $25 before taxes.
Both my daughters and I were on a food adventure at Redlands Public Market (RPM) on Memorial Weekend 2026. We got lucky to try #1 Shrimp Corner, #2 Yugo Shokunin, and #3 Beyond Biryani. We're now at our 4th stop of the day and Hen & Heifer (H&H) takes the #4 spot. H&H has been around since the beginning of RPM. They are still going on strong which is fantastic. Their specialty is burgers made with premium American cattle beef that consists of a "blend of three prime cuts of beef ground fresh in-house daily and hand-molded into juicy patties. Food is made with fresh, never frozen ingredients and, when in season, sourced from local farms in California." Very cool! Young gentleman who took my order was nice and cordial. I asked for recommendation since it was my first time here. I don't eat beef anymore so I was limited to the chicken sandwiches and appetizers which I was perfectly fine with. He recommended the Chickenator and that's what I got. It came with a thin slab of chicken filet along with roasted poblano pepper, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and homemade jalapeño dressing on a brioche bun. It looked great and tasted good. All ingredients worked well together, but portion was smaller than expected. It needs to be bigger for a $15+ sandwich. I also added an order of Fried Zucchini... second best decision of the day! It was SO GOOD. I was in heaven. Perfectly fried with a thin layer of tasty batter. Zucchini was fresh, sweet, and full size thick. Portion was abundant. I just wanted to gobbled them up. Highly recommend it to be paired with any burger or sandwich. They also offer half onion rings + half fried zucchini... I may get that next time. We were still sitting at Shrimp Corner's area. Got to save your seating spot for most of your dining stay at the food hall. Otherwise, someone will snatch it. I will be sure to return to H&H for another chicken sandwich that meets the size I am desiring and definitely to gobble up more fried zucchini. Even though I didn't eat their beef burgers, they are said to be delicious per other reviews. If you love burgers, come get you some beefy goodness! Btw, park for free at 101 W Stuart Ave. Walk to the market within a few minutes. Look both ways before you cross the train tracks.
Came here on a Sunday at 3:00, forgot that football was happening so it was packed. We were able to find a spot close to the bar which is right next to the spot so it felt like we got our food pretty quick. The guy taking our order was super nice but I think he misheard us for sure because our order was somewhat wrong. We ordered two of the Standard burgers and some Belgian fries and chili cheese fries. We didn't get our chili cheese fries but he also hadn't charged us for them, like I said maybe he didn't hear us. The burgers were DELICIOUS, patty was perfectly cooked medium rare, mine had pickles even though I asked twice for no pickles but that's okay. More for my partner. The fries however were pretty oily, without ketchup they didn't taste like anything but potato. I like oily fries but I prefer a little salt as well. Overall pretty good meal, would definitely come back.
My family and I have been frequenting the Redlands Public Market almost weekly. We recently ended up trying Hen & Heifer and had a great meal. Portions were generous and the food was tasty and good quality. Definitely one of our favorite stalls at the Public Market. Our order consisted of the - Baby Boy Roy Sliders - Pastrami Nation sandwich - Stinky Parma fries Quality meal with leftovers. Everything tasted super fresh and the meal overall exceeded our expectations. Although I ordered sliders, they came as a pair and were hefty. I ended up boxing my second one. I also loved the Stinky Parma fries. There was no skimping out on any garlic or parm flavor on these fries. They truly tasted exactly as titled, but in the best way. If you love garlic, parmesean fries, do not sleep on the Stinky Parma fries! Our only gripe was the wait time. It was far from accurate from what we were quoted (which ultimately made us late for our next stop) as we waited almost an additional 25 minutes. We also weren't informed when the food was ready. We only got our food because my husband checked on it after waiting for so long. Overall, the food quality and taste overshadowed the extended wait time for the food. We would definitely give them a try again when craving that type of fare while at the Redlands Public Market.
Ordered the veggie burger called The Cheevies & Fries. It is chickpea oat based and it was okay. Presentation and portion was good but the consistency of the burger was very floppy and broke apart. Flavor was also just okay. I would've preferred an impossible burger or beyond burger instead. Service was friendly and ambiance is aesthetic as it is in the Redlands Public Market. Meat eaters have more options here than vegetarians.
Alert the Health Department. Family treated me here for my birthday. Patty was supposed to be medium rare, but was raw. Showed the burger to staff and while he refunded me for the burger, he was unapologetic and took the burger I had taken a few bites of back off my plate, like actually reached onto my plate that also had the fries I had been eating and grabbed it. Not cool, no receipt to show my mom was actually refunded either. She also hated her burger, said the grilled onions tasted old. I will say the fried zucchini was bomb and the fries were good, but cold. Ruined my birthday dinner, thanks dude. We visited on August 21st around 6:18 PM. Did not catch name of employee.
The Hen and Heifer is inside the Redlands Public Market. I got a burger they call the Mexican. It was extremely juicy, and I loved the roasted poblano pepper that was on it. I also added a side of the Belgian fries. These are some of the best fries I've ever tried. Their menu is quite extensive, and I will be back to try more of it.
Food was so good and quite filling. I got the lil Kim fries and two sliders and I took most of it home. I definitely want to come back and try more items. I didn't have to wait long for my food and getting text reminders really helped.

Hen & Heifer is part of a food court in downtown Redlands across from the train station. The ambiance is young, noisy and as expected very casual. The food, OMG!!! The flavor!! I order the KBBQ mushroom fries. It was great and filling. That was enough on its own for a meal. The house salad was huge. I couldn't eat all of either. My daughter tried the Lil Kim fries, again full of flavor and the Creaminal burger which she devoured. My husband ate all of his Blues burger and onion rings. No complaint from any of us. Service was good. The young man helping us was in training and very polite. Definitely a place to try.
This was my first time at Hen & Heifer and it was pretty good. The menu is detailed and you will need to read the description. It's a lot of words for a menu! Haha. Service was mediocre. We waited a bit before the cashier took our order but that was no issue as they seemed busy. She didn't once look happy to take our order though and sounded annoyed to answer our questions. Everything is sold separately so the burgers don't come with fries. I ordered the standard and a side of fries $16. The burgers was good and flavorful and came with lots of veggies. My husband ordered the manimal and that thing was massive! Lol

$73.00 For Two Burgers, Onion Rings, and Two Sodas.. I so wanted this place to make me feel it was worth that.. I saw a video that hyped this place up and we showed up.. The Market Place is very cool and there was a lot of things we wanted to try and Hen & Heifer was the one we started with. The staff were super friendly and nice. We ordered "The Boss Hog" and the "Mannimal.. Onion Rings.. A Diet Coke and a Coke in the Bottle.. Everything is à la cart.. Just FYI.. The Boss Hog was a Double Cheeseburger with Pastrami, Carmelized Onions, and Cheese. $21.00 The Mannimal Was A Single Cheeseburger between Two Grilled Cheese Sandwiches with Carmelized Onions. $18.28 Onion Rings $11.86 Diet Coke in the Can $2.00 Coke in Bottle $4.85 And Aparently I Tipped $10.43 and I don't remember that since I ordered at a counter and picked up from the counter.. I am not sure how that happened! The burgers were ok.. I was expecting them to be full of flavor, but the carmelized onions were the best thing beween the bun.. I am sorry, but the meat should have been the star and it wasn't. The bun on the boss hog was soaked and wet and stuff dripped out when squeezed like a sponge. The cheese for the grilled cheese on the mannimal was different from the cheese on the burger itself. $12 Dollar onion rings, I was expecting more than a single serving and them to really good for Onion Rings that cost almost as much as a Burger. I wanna be nice about this place but the difference between what I got for what I paid and the lacking flavor. I was not impressed.. Was it this visit or is this normal? read more

Two star instead of 1, because the Cashier was attentive and seemed like a good dude but the cooks are making him look bad by taking forever. Took 45 minutes for a plain cheese burger and fries. The cheeseburger finished after about 25 minutes first and sat for 15 minutes before the fries were finished. Then they dumped a hand full of fries to try and compensate for the wait but the burger was already cold. This is the 3rd time they messed up my order in some fashion, so I've learned my lesson with this location. Goodluck! read more

Service: BEWARE!!! The cashier was not friendly AT ALL, not sure if she was having a bad day but as a first time customer. I almost cancelled the order due to it. Food: we ordered the Bomb bay, excited about the jalapeño dressing, but to our disappointment... we tasted none of it. Not sure if it's a tiny bit of spread or if it was forgotten on our burger . However, The burger meat we ordered medium and it was PERFECT. Juicy and delicious. Overall: paying $27 for one burger (with tip) was NOT worth it. We tried some of the other spots in that market that were better but we will be sure to try another day if that cashier isn't there n order another burger maybe. read more

OMG The burger was amazing. There is something about the meat that just makes it soooo good. The staff is super friendly and the service fast. I'm not huge fan of the "market" concept for food but the outside seating on a gorgeous day was nice. If you have a vegetarian friend, bring them here and have them eat The Narcissist. It will cure them of their awful disease. read more
Hen & Heifer serves up some awesome burgers. The flavor combinations are there, the ingredients fire, and the presentation on point. The reason for the 3 star review is cook temperature. 3 out of 4 visits I've had undercooked, damn near raw meat and it doesn't seem to matter how I order it. I've tried medium rare, medium, and medium well and they can't seem to get it right. That being said, so far The Creaminal has been my favorite burger. Its loaded with jalepeno and cream cheese. The spicy sauce on the Lucy burger is awesome, too. The food is good, no doubt about it. Once they get their cook temps locked down I'd happily update my review. read more
The Hen & Heifer is located in the north-east corner of the Redlands Public Market (RPM). The parking for this venue is surprisingly convenient in the new 4 level parking structure. If you expand my menu pics you'll get the jest of the type of burger and meat restaurant that they are. The staff was helpful. The text order notification system worked well. Relative to our food order, at another restaurant, they were extremely slow. (I saw customers who had ordered before me waiting for their food.) I ordered the Mac N Down Burger, see my pic. It was cooked to my order. And kudos for size (I believe the actual patty is 6 oz, but there was ample meat.) Underneath the burger are fried Mac N Cheese balls. The burger bites were a mouthful: great texture, savory and juicy. However, the flavors were a bit mild. I liked the juiciness and richness of the hamburger contrasting with the crunch and creaminess of the fried Mac N Cheese balls. This is a treat I won't be telling my Doctor that I had. read more

I'm vegetarian and had difficulty ordering the Mexican with their veggie patty. Most restaurants easily allow ordering any burger and substituting with their veggie patty. They did end up allowing us to order the Mexican with a veggie patty but told us that we can't do that in the future... and basically to stick to the vegetarian menu. I love their Mexican burger and had no issues substituting with the veggie patty at their Apollo Burgers location. The Mexican was sooo delicious. The kbbq mushroom fries were great. Just wished I couldve picked whichever burger I wanted with a veggie patty. read more
Disclaimer!!! I believe in reviewing business honestly because I pay for each meal I eat. I'm not payed to help places succeed like a lot of food reviewers you see all over facebook and instagram. I had seen this business at the Redlands marketplace first time I had visited there. I had chosen to eat some place different that day. Today I chose to eat at Hen & Heifer. First thing I noticed was the price of each item. It was quite pricey for what you could get at another burger place serving the same thing. I ordered the classic burger for 10 dollars and change. No fries included! So added onion rings 11 dollars and change. I received my food and tasted the onion rings first with some ranch. The ranch was nothing special. I sat it the side replacing the lid so not mistakenly dipping again. I took a bite of the burger, it was so salty and overpowered by the caramelized onions. So if you feel you need to empty your wallet of twenty plus dollars a person try this place for yourself! The market place is very clean and has many food options. read more

I'm a huge fan of Redlands Public Market and I want to try every eatery there. This weekend I tried the Hen & Heifer. I tried the Lil' Kim Fries, which is Korean BBQ bulgogi on top of fries with carrots and a fried egg. Sooooo good! Service was great. I look forward to trying the Manimal, I think that's what it's called. read more

Make sure you order your burgers well done went for dinner tonight and ordered a standard burger had a few drinks ate most the burger and then realized oh? Its raw went to staff and honestly they should have refunded me instead was told by the employee "oh I didn't cook it" you should have refunded me on sight seeing it was clearly raw hopefully I dont get sick I will never order a burger from here again maybe train the chef's to slow down read more

Very generous with their fries! The Mac n down burger was thick! Honestly struggled get a good bite into it. But who doesn't want a challenge. It's tucked in the corner of the Redlands market. They still standout, even amongst the various vendors. read more

First time here, and you can tell it's a popular spot--they stay busy, and it's clear customers love it. I ordered a classic cheeseburger cooked medium well. It tasted fresh and had good flavor overall--I'd give it a solid 7/10. The onion rings caught me off guard, though--they were $11, which felt pretty expensive in my opinion read more
