Scattered with some Mexican food but if you like authentic you'll be disappointed. I tried the chilaquiles today and although tasty they were not what I wanted. Chunks of pork and shredded American cheese ruined it for me. BUT it wasn't bad. I just was in the mood for authentic. Took a picture after so obviously it was good enough to eat. Just left the pork. My son had the eggs, bacon, and sausage with hash brown and toast. All perfectly cooked. Service as always was excellent. Ambiance is clean, small establishment. Gets very busy. Mostly tables and chairs. Wall of cushioned benches and 2 booths. Come early or be willing to wait. Never been too long though, they process orders quickly. Found this restaurant after mass one Sunday and enjoyed it so much we came back. The staff is very friendly, courteous and accommodating. We get seated quickly even though they may be crowded. The food is very good and we get served quickly. We will return to try other dishes. The stuffed waffles were very good and my husband likes the chili verde omelet and the green chili omelet plus the home potatoes, delicious. read more

Their red chilaquiles are my favorite super crunchy, flavorful, and served in generous portions. They're actually famous for their green pork chilaquiles, but since I don't eat pork, I always go for the red ones and they never disappoint. read more

Always fresh/homemade food served here! Feels like you just walked into your grandma's kitchen and she whipped up something yummy for you. Go for breakfast, but don't miss the green enchiladas. Oh there's so many things that are delicious on their menu. Only negative is that they can get very very busy and sometimes service takes a while. If you want quality food, Cheliz is definitely a place to try. We love it. We go to the Cheliz in north Redlands, but we have also been to the one in East Highland. We had a great experience here for breakfast today. Tabby, our waitress was friendly and attentive. We didn't have to ask one time for iced tea refills. I had the veggie omelet with fruit. The vegetables were crisp and fresh, the fruit was great. Loved the ice cold watermelon! My son had the country breakfast. He told me loved it. They have menudo offered everyday! OMG! This place is a must! Food is SO good! We flew in from Atlanta and were hungry for Mexican food so I went to Yelp to find a spot and saw Cheliz! When we first walked in I was concerned that there wasn't any Mexican dishes but Rosalia and Lorena told us about the Jiwvoa Rancheros, Tamales plate, and Verde Burrito - the verde sauce is MONEY! Another stop thanks to Yelp. The service here was outstanding and the food was just as good. I ordered the NY steak and eggs but the steak was as tendered as a ribeye. I almost think they confused the two but the steak did not have ribeye fat. They cooked it to perfection which was a pleasant surprise. The chilaquiles were tasty but needed spice. I would recommend spicing up the green sauce a little. It was good but I think adding a jalapeño or Serrano to it would make it perfect. This place is worth the 4.5-5 stars on Yelp. read more

This is a hidden little gem in Redlands. Good food and reasonably priced. Our server Alexis was so sweet and helpful. Our food was very tasty and came out fast. I'm a stickler for poached eggs done correctly and they hit the mark here. Perfectly cooked whites and a runny yolk center. First off, I ordered by phone and even gave them 10 extra minutes after they said my breakfast would be ready in ten. However, my biggest beef is the french toast. First, only one bread, not two, then the "chef" didnt put any love in making them by forgetting the cinnamon! At this point, it's not french toast! Worst french toast I've ever had! Period. This is the second time we've been here. The first time was right before Covid lockdowns. It wasn't bad then and it's not bad now. There was a lot of us and they got all the food tasting good. Only down part is that my youngest nephews order wasn't written on the ticket, so they forgot to make his, so he waited an extra 15 minutes to get his food. Visiting SoCal due to family matters. After researching via Yelp (I am a breakfast hunter by nature), I decided to try Cheliz. Located in a slightly older shopping strip, Cheliz presents a small entry into an elongated dining area. The staff working the dining room were so friendly and attentive. Nothing fancy as far as seating and atmosphere; just a nice place to enjoy a quiet breakfast. As normal for me, I ordered the regular Breakfast Burrito ($8.95) and added chorizo ($1.50). The other optional meat add-ons were bacon, ham, or sausage. My coffee cup was filled right away, and topped off often. Although this was a simple breakfast order, it was evident that the person who prepared the burrito cared about the quality and presentation. Not only did it look inviting, it tasted as good as it appeared. The potatoes (many places undercook them) were wonderful. Initially, I thought two-eggs would be a bit light, but the supporting ingredients more than covered my expectations. The salsa (on the side) was tasty and appropriately spicy - but did not take away from the optional chorizo in the burrito. I mentioned to my server as I received my bill that this was one of the best breakfast burritos I have ever enjoyed. I don't make it to SoCal much, but if I am in the area again, I will revisit Cheliz. read more

Visited on a Sunday morning. Called in to see if there was a wait and there wasn't around 10am, when I showed up 10 minutes later there was a 10-15 minute wait but it felt quick. We thought we would try this restaurant on Easter morning. It was a party of three. When we arrived there was one table available and we were seated right away. It's a smaller dining area but they are efficient with the seating. I was worried that they would be too busy to pay attention to each table but experienced fast, personable, and consistent service from all of the servers. They really work together as a team. Not only did the food come out quickly but it was better than average and very tasty. I ordered the eggs and chorizo, my boyfriend had the loaded quesadilla and his Dad had the senior corned beef hash. My boyfriend's Dad cleaned his plate it was so good. Ordered my favorite senior breakfast of chile verde omelet, hash browns, and a single pancake, which made me smile. and of course a cup of Joe. The server was on point despite I had a medical issue with my nose. She brought me more napkins. And she always checked up on me when she walked by. Cheliz is a local, family operated business that started in 2016 and has gained rapid acceptance with the local community. On the morning I visited them, the breakfast group was sparse ......................... and then the regulars showed up - a very jovial and friendly bunch, and it stayed busy thereafter. The staff, all family, was extremely helpful. For example, we wanted de-decaf coffee. They gladly made a fresh pot for us - no hassle, no attitude. Also our de-decaf was served in an orange coffee cup, refills were plentiful and hassle free. You can see from my inside pic this is straight-forward, unpretentious restaurant. We visited for coffee, and I took my breakfast burrito togo. Finally, a menu glam pic that looks like the real food served. I took home the Alex Burrito, breakfast burrito with 3 breakfast meats. This is a good sized burrito. The tortilla wrapping is thin (which is good, I want eggs, cheese and meat, not necessarily tortilla) and still held together quite well. There was a slight flat top crunch to the tortilla. As you can see from my pic, the all ingredients were evenly dispersed within the burrito. The scrambled eggs were cooked just right, all the meat flavors showed through. The hash browns were an accent, not a stuffing, and added a bit of crunch. Let's talk salsas .......... these were good. The red salsa was warm and the green salsa was hot. Both tasted fresh and had a vibrant veggie/herbal flavor that accompanied the heat. But when added to the burrito it brought the burrito alive. The salsa heat diminished and the subtle herbal flavors elevated the eggs. read more

I went down to Cheliz to grab a breakfast burrito on Sunday and I was surprised at how busy the place was. It was packed! Must be a good sign, right? Anyway, I decided I didn't want to wait for a table so I ordered the chorizo burrito to take home. Although they were clearly busy, they said it would take ten minutes and thats just about how long it took. Once I got home I really enjoyed the burrito. It was enormous and very delicious, one of the best I've eaten. It was not cheap, with tax it added up to $13, but I have to say it was worth every penny. It came with two salsa cups, the red sauce was not hot at all, and the green sauce was a little hotter. I like my food extra hot, so I added some tapatio on top.
