I have had two meals here so far, and they've both been delicious. They have a great salad bar, and a selection of hot foods. They also offer vegetarian options. Their macaroni and cheese is incredible. It's a white cheese sauce with a little bit of rosemary and bread crumbs. So delicious! It's a beautiful cafe with windows and spacious seating. Noise levels are a bit loud, but you can still carry on a conversation. read more

This is a fantastic place for great food for less money! Everyday you have two live kitchen gourmet cuisines, two different soups, full fledged salad bar with all the available dressings, two types of pizzas, a sandwich bar with two different varieties of meat, a burger bar with different meats, fully stocked refrigerators with ice teas, chocolate milks, water, sodas, protein shakes and more! There's soda fountain and a cake counter stocked with cookies and also Starbucks coffee! Everyday, there's a different cuisine. Everything sounds yummy but there are its own flaws! Not every food tastes great! It depends on what ingredients and what sauces you choose and sometimes they have some custom gourmet dishes which are served, it's 50/50 chance! Pizzas are not always up to the mark. They are sometimes burnt, sometimes overloaded with sauce making it toooo cheezy, feels like you will puke because of the cheese! Salads are the best, I'm a big fan of the salad bar and I often take them. The beef, chicken, and vegetable chilli is out of this world! I love them! But the cost is unbeatable! It's a corporate cafeteria, even if it is located out in the IE. Food options are marginally more healthy than one might expect, and pricing is very reasonable... but then you realize how much is butter or deep fried or whatnot, and you have to remember to be realistic! read more

First, ESRI is a business and most of the patrons at the restaurant are employees. We felt very out of place and wondered if we were allowed to be there. But, the food is wonderful. we all had something different and shared our meals. Each of us liked all of the food in our group. It was wonderful. I should also add that our group had a vegetarian, lactose intolerant celiac, and a gluten-free pescatarian. Finding restaurants can be a nightmare, but this diversity of options made this EASY. Plus the price was totally reasonable. I'll definitely come back, maybe try breakfast next time. read more

Great selection of food drinks. You can go there every day and find something new to eat. They have a great Daily Special that invites you to having a lot of variety of options. There is able seating with great diffuse window lighting. There's tables and chairs as well as cozy couches. Highly recommend going there. Yes, this is part of the Esri "company" and most patrons are employees. But, the food is extremely good and for the most part very healthy. Unlike reviewers just prior to mine... the food is always very good quality and I dare you to find lower prices elsewhere. There is a new menu every day that rotates each week. Great breakfast buffet as well. The most difficult part is knowing where to stand, what line, etc. to order and pick up. It could be better organized. read more

The staff is decent enough and the food's alright, but if you think that this is a place where the food items are FIXED, you'll be in for a rude awakening. You need to do a weekly search on a search engine that says "esri cafe menu". They will then show the menu for that particular week. The actual menu changes day to day. This place was initially built with esri employees in mind. Also, the only way you'll get in is either from New York off Redlands Blvd., or the Orange Blossom bike trail to New York, as if you were going to the post office. The entire south side is closed off for security reasons. Just speculation, but if the post office moves, the entire campus may be closed to the public for security reasons. We just had my husband's graduation party today and from the beginning this place had been great! Bob Edwards is responsive, answers all your questions, and was easy to get a hold of by phone. Chef Brian made us a delicious lunch from their "south of the border" menu. We had beef barbacoa, Adobe grilled chicken, cheese enchiladas, black beans, cilantro rice, salad, tortillas, and churros with chocolate sauce! Everyone loved the food. It was seriously good. Chef Brian met us before the party, introduced himself and let us know he can help us with anything, he was awesome! I am so happy with how our event went, the staff and especially Bob and Chef Brian made everything go so smoothly. Thank you Esri! A one star cafe. I work there full time for 3 years. There menu never change, what keep changing is the quantity and the quality of the food. With 9 dollars, you only get a small check breast. You easily find better and cheaper food anywhere else around the location. I have to eat there once in a while just because my lunch time maybe tight and can not taking too long for the break. This is my new favorite lunch spot! After I don't know how long - at least a year, I found a place that serves really excellent made-from-scratch food here in Redlands. The chef is a real up-and-comer, Bryan Lareau, who I have chanced across before. Wow! This guy can cook! The food here is FRESH, tasty, and best of all well-priced! An example is the large bowl of clam chowder you can get on Fridays, is ONLY $2.19!!! That's LESS THAN half what you would pay anywhere else! Today they were also serving teriyaki steak, egg-fried rice, and Asian vegetables as the main entree (the main entrees change daily), they also have made-from-scratch pizza, sandwiches, burgers, and salads. There's a mini Starbucks too. This place is a real gem. When you visit, say hi to Chef Bryan for me, you'll recognize him immediately as he's probably the person working the hardest here. Update 4/13/2018 Friday the 13th turned out to be lucky 13 for me! I came for the clam chowder but I left with a stomach full of Lobster Roll - wow! The food was as delicious as I have been told. I had sweet potatoe fajita tacos with black beans and cilantro rice. My first time for me sweet potato tacos and they were delicious! My friend had a garden burger ( 2 patties) and she raved about them. There is a good, inviting energy. There are multiple choices of food and drink and the prices were excellent. The cafe at Esri is at its core the stereotypical bad monopoly. They have no real competition for all the employees on campus to choose instead and so they wallow in mediocrity. They used to be decent, but no more. Basically everything they make is terrible quality. Not only that, but quality has consistently declined while prices have risen. For example, the pizza and cookies are not worth any form of payment. How do you mess those up? It's one thing to not make it well, it's another to totally ruin it. They can't even keep a basic handle on inventory either. That's restaurant 101. Sure things might occasionally go amiss, but this place is always out of something. Every day. The only saving grace are the basic grill items and sandwiches. They are at least reasonably priced and good enough quality. read more

Well well well, some things are-a-changin' at the ESRI CAFE. Just had their slowed cooked beef with polenta and roasted vegetables on Monday and I have to say I was impressed with the quality of the improvement. The beef and the roasted veggies and the polenta were very well prepared and the taste was phenomenal. Kudos to all the staff at the ESRI cafe for this mega improvement. I give credit where it's due. Being a fellow chef I am my own worst critic, and it's near impossible for me to enjoy going out to eat. I gave it a shot and this place has a chef that made my head spin! Food is substandard .... the only decent thing on the menu is their "Mongolian" grill special on thursdays. That is the tastiest thing on the menu. I've tried breakfast and it's decent but not great. The Starbucks coffee is ok. The other items are not so great and wouldn't really recommend it. The people that work there are nice and the coworkers eating with me are nice .... condiments are good and not stingy with it like other company cafeterias which is nice read more

Lots of healthy choices, and often an ethnic dish of the day. They also have a partial Starbucks menu. This place is fantastic. Even though it's a cafeteria style place the food is as good as any restaurant in downtown Redlands and it's very very reasonable. You couldn't eat at a fast food joint for the price. The menu tends towards healthy choices but also offers deli food, hamburgers & pizza. The setting is lovely. The room itself is surrounded by windows with a view of the tree lined ESRI campus & so gives a feeling that you are sitting in a park. When the full crowd is there at the height of lunch hour and it can get pretty noisy because of all the hard surfaces but there is seating available outside and food can be obtained to go. They have a salad bar and fountain or canned drinks. read more

This is a great place for vegetarians as they have a daily entree along with a great salad bar and specialized salad. The Mongolian BBQ is the best and they use tofu as the vegetarian protein. Both lunch and breakfast are outstanding selections. Executive Chef Bryan Lareau comes out to the front lines and helps serve both breakfast and lunch. I recently had my wedding reception at ESRI Cafe. They really made this day such a special and perfect occasion. As a fiancé the day before our wedding, I was doing all I could to make the day perfect for my future bride. However, ESRI went above and beyond anything I could have ever asked to make sure this day, our wedding day was something from a fairytale. Jason with events, Antoinette, Sydney, Ashley, and Bob treated us as if we were their family. And we definitely felt they love and compassion they showed by assisting us with the greatest awareness and kindness at our reception. There is no other place to enjoy good company, AMAZING food, and an atmosphere that takes you to the place you want to be. They staff at ESRI definitely deserve the greatest recognition and praise for making sure your wedding day will stay crystal clear in your mind as the greatest day in your life!!!
