Came in for breakfast with my family, but unfortunately we had a family emergency and had to leave before we were even able to place our food order. We had only been served three coffees, which we didn't even have time to drink, yet we were charged $20. We were especially disappointed because we truly want to support locally owned businesses, but the way the situation was handled made that difficult. On top of everything, the server was very rude when we apologized and explained that we needed to leave immediately due to the emergency. It was a perfect morning/ afternoon stop in for brunch to celebrate Dad! The wait was moderate (35mins) and we had a hiccup when they called our name but was quickly recovered and sat us to order promptly. Mimosas were a must and the most amazing bloody Mary's we were all ravenous so we ordered what was suggested. The breakfast burritos, one deep fried and covered with breakfast gravy and the mother clicker I think it was called. A tenderized chicken breast covered with the most amazing bread crumbs and the perfect amount of gravy covered it. The breakfast potatoes were perfect, biscuits and gravy were awesome. We can't wait to go back again. The food was so good and the waitresses were so nice. It was the perfect casual, southern feel place to fill your belly with the most scrumptious food ever. A good friend recommended Breakfast Shack, and after seeing their loco moco on Yelp, we were sold! We arrived about an hour before closing, hungry but with enough time to relax and decide. We were seated right away, and I ordered an orange juice--something I rarely do. To my surprise, it was delicious and super refreshing. For meals, our family ordered the Whole Farm, Breakfast Burrito, Loco Moco, and Croissant Sandwich. We were starving, but the portions were generous, and everything tasted great. The standout favorites were definitely the pancake and the loco moco. We'll definitely be back, though probably order a little less next time since we had so much leftover. For four people, the bill came out to about $20-$25 per person, which feels pretty reasonable these days. The food was great. I brought my parents and my sister with me and we all enjoyed our food. Mine was the steak and eggs with fried green chillies, house salsa, and lemons. It was all very good, and the chilies tasted so good worth some fresh lemon juice. The steak was cooked to my liking, medium-rare, the eggs sunny side up, and the salsa was so good. I'm very happy that they made the Hatch green chilies a permanent item from what I was told as I'm a huge fan of this item for it's flavor and versatile spiciness (mild, but sometimes you get a great little surprise). Service was prompt, it was busy what looks to be lots of regulars that the waiters know which is always a good sign. We were early for a meeting in Redlands on a Tuesday morning. Since we had an hour and a half to fill, we stopped in here for breakfast. My food was excellent. There were two large light and fluffy biscuits smothered in a tasty sausage gravy. This covered its own plate. (An oddity in California. Biscuits and gravy that tastes good.). The eggs were cooked just right. The hash browns were great. Everything was hot when it was served. My wife enjoyed her breakfast as well. She said her waffle was wonderful. We were surprised at how busy this place was for a Tuesday morning. There was a constant flow of people of all ages into this place. My wife said it reminded her of cafes in my home state of Kansas. The flat edge of toilet paper rolls is never supposed to touch germy hands or floors or walls or the metal handrail! Why do people think this is normal? Why is it so hard to just unlock the dispenser and put the roll on there and lock it back up? Did everyone lose their key?! This place also had toilet paper in the dispenser so no need to dirty the t.p. on the toilet tank. It was hard to reach though. I'd say just more the wall dispenser closer. We always go to the breakfast shack when we're in Redlands. On our most recent visit, we ordered a classic Benedict and a hatch chile Benedict. We've had the classic Benedict before, and it comes with three beautifully poached eggs and lots of hollandaise. Either they were out of their normal breakfast potatoes or they've changed them, but they were thinly sliced and a teeny bit soggy, not the chunks of potato we were expecting. The hatch chile Benedict was amazing. Lots of pork, sauce, and chile with crispy hash browns. It was a little disappointing that this one didn't also come with three eggs, only two, so it wasn't a perfect ratio. Some form of bread would've been nice too, as it's just breaded chiles at the base. read more

Breakfast Shack has good service and good food that reminds me of my undergrad years in North Carolina--I haven't been here in a while, but I would usually order one of the eggs benedict (the California, with fried green tomatoes, was my favorite). Today I ordered the mother clucker, which is fried chicken with a choice of eggs, bread, and potato. It was delicious; I was impressed by the thickness of the chicken, and it was cooked perfectly. For bread, I chose the biscuits with gravy--I thought this was fine but not great, being a little too heavy without enough flavor, and I might have preferred toast. Note that there is a 3.5% up-charge for credit card payments. I understand that some businesses do this to pass on the credit card fees that they have to pay (though I would argue that there are costs associated with cash payments, too). It's not a big deal, but I just dislike finding this out at the end of a meal. read more

Mostly sidewalk parking. Outdoor canopy with chairs for those waiting for a table. Staff will put you down on the waitlist and call your name once your table is ready. Nice variety of seating areas. There's the main eating area, a glass sun room and a few steps down to a lower bar area. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Variety of breakfast items to choose from. Came right when they opened with my coworkers as we all got off nearby. There were limited parking spots as it is in the same plaza as other businesses but there are also street parking. Upon entering, we were quickly serviced and given menus. The service was great and everybody was very friendly/helpful for my party's accommodations. I got The Whole Farm which came with 2 gigantic pancakes that were super delicious. The menu has a variety of items to choose from but I was very satisfied with what I got! I've always loved coming here with my husband this place has been part of our anniversary tradition for years. The food is great, and the staff has usually been so friendly and attentive. When we politely asked our server, Maddy, for napkins, she rolled her eyes and walked off before we even finished talking. It caught me off guard and made me feel uncomfortable. When my husband mentioned it to the shift lead, Jennie, Maddy came back and tossed the napkins on the table in front of her. Jennie witnessed it and confirmed what she saw. The whole situation created such an awkward atmosphere that it completely changed the energy of our morning. They applied a small discount, but that didn't fix how embarrassed and upset I felt. The toast was heavily smeared with margarine, not butter, which was extremely off putting. Hashbrowns weren't bad but had a ton of pepper in them, which I don't mind, but it was odd. You could feel how uncomfortable it made the whole table -- honestly, even a few people around seemed to notice. It's rare to see that kind of attitude here, which is why it stood out.
