The wait was moderate (35mins) and we had a hiccup when they called our name but was quickly recovered and sat us to order promptly. Mimosas were a must and the most amazing bloody Mary's we were all ravenous so we ordered what was suggested. The breakfast burritos, one deep fried and covered with breakfast gravy and the mother clicker I think it was called. A tenderized chicken breast covered with the most amazing bread crumbs and the perfect amount of gravy covered it. The breakfast potatoes were perfect, biscuits and gravy were awesome. We can't wait to go back again. The food was so good and the waitresses were so nice. It was the perfect casual, southern feel place to fill your belly with the most scrumptious food ever. I've always loved coming here with my husband this place has been part of our anniversary tradition for years. The food is great, and the staff has usually been so friendly and attentive. Stacy especially has always made us feel welcome. But today was honestly disappointing. When we politely asked our server, Maddy, for napkins, she rolled her eyes and walked off before we even finished talking. It caught me off guard and made me feel uncomfortable. When my husband mentioned it to the shift lead, Jennie, Maddy came back and tossed the napkins on the table in front of her. Jennie witnessed it and confirmed what she saw. The whole situation created such an awkward atmosphere that it completely changed the energy of our morning. They applied a small discount, but that didn't fix how embarrassed and upset I felt. This was supposed to be a special day for us, and instead, I left emotional and disappointed. It's really sad because we've always had great experiences here. I had high hopes for Breakfast Shack. Unfortunately, the food was just not great. I ordered an omelette and what came was most certainly a scramble. The toast was heavily smeared with margarine, not butter, which was extremely off putting. Hashbrowns weren't bad but had a ton of pepper in them, which I don't mind, but it was odd. Ingredients felt very cheap and cheese wasn't even melted on top of my "omelette". The ambiance was also a little odd. It's definitely country themed, with loud music playing with lyrics like "and the waitress left her number on my check with a heart around it". Quaint local breakfast spot we found in the area. Shared the avocado toast which was very good. I also ordered the loco moco with spam- kahuna plate. The beef patty was nice with the smothered gravy however the rice used was more a rice pilaf, not a long grain rice so to me it was a faux loco moco. I come to this spot pretty often because the food and service are usually great. The staff has always been friendly, and it's one of those local places that feels comfortable and consistent. But during my last visit, I saw something that really didn't sit right with me. A couple at a nearby table asked their server for something simple, and the way she reacted came off rude and dismissive. You could feel how uncomfortable it made the whole table -- honestly, even a few people around seemed to notice. It's rare to see that kind of attitude here, which is why it stood out. I've always liked this place, but I hope management addresses situations like that. I've come here multiple times, the most recent being today morning after my long night shift with my bf. He got southern comfort, which was alright. Given that big portion size and I end up eating their food for 2 meals, I'd say definitely worth the cost Ambiance: traditional American diner vibe, clean with rustic amd wooden interior designs. Bigger inside than I thought with many tables and bar area. Busy on weekend mornings but not crazy, I was always able to grab seats in 5-10 minutes Service: wow the waitresses are always so friendly, they have beautiful smiles. I realized one third way into my meal today that I had actually received a wrong order, which was fine since it tasted good anyway haha. But when I mentioned it to the waitress, she apologized and just gave me a whole new free meal with correct order! I got to keep the other meal still and took it for to go. First time in the area and came across this jewel. The restaurant is clean and the service is great. We went on a Sunday morning and it was pretty packed. Even though it was packed, the employees were still very nice and friendly. For you Islanders out there, they have a Loco Moco plate and you can have Spam added for a little extra. I prefer a little bit more gravy but I will ask next time. The California Benedict was very good too. There's a small parking lot,but lots of street parking. There's a nice little self sustainable shop down the street with nice people there too, where you can stroll around while waiting for a table. Found this breakfast restaurant after the wifey and I did our weekly stop by the Redlands Farmer's Market. Food was amazing I would like to add. Everything on the menu is worth the try. Portions are large compared to other places I have been to. My go to meal is the Meathead Tom-Omolette which is very delicious, while the wifey loves their steak and eggs with a side of biscuits and gravy. Our servers were the best. After coming here a few times our faces were known. Sometimes it's about a 30 min wait to be seated but definitely worth the wait. What's so different about this spot is the fact the service is fast, consistent and always ready ro refill your champagne glasses and and coffee. As for the restaurant layout, I love it. It reminds me of country diners that provides real down home ambiance. As for parking, you may have to park on the street or a parking lot adjacent to the restaurant. If you want ungodly portions and a typical 2000 calorie american breakfast, then Breakfast Shack is your place to be. The waits get long on weekends and the food is good, sweet and simple. The country fried steak and gravy was heavenly. Just salt on salt and savory on savory. And each bite as good as the next. The fried steak itself was actually decent quality unlike many other country fried steaks you might find at some random breakfast place. The portions are generous so you could easily make 2 meals out of everything here. If you want pancakes with your breakfast, you should be warned that they're the size of car tires. They're huge and soak up syrup like a parched houseplant in the middle of the desert. Are they the best pancakes ever? Not yet, but they're pretty freaking big. Been eating here since they opened. Today we split a sandwich since the portions are large. Well we asked for an extra plate. That's going to cost you an extra $2. I guess soap to wash it has gotten extremely costly. I guess if you look somewhere on the menu it states extra plates are two dollars more. Would have been nice if the waitress could have at least told us of the extra charge. We only got the plate for the convenience of splitting the meal. After a couple of visits spread far apart, I'm very satisfied with this operation. Expect a wait list. It's quite popular. On both occasions, I was with my father, and we got the same table. I'd love to try a sandwich or something different, but so far, it's been early mornings for breakfast. Parking in the lot is tight, and I recommend parking on the street. The wait wasn't bad on either trip and the staff are all fun and have good attitudes. The menu itself is pretty deep if you look at it too long. I've found I keep changing my mind as I read the descriptions, then narrow it down to three. Then flip a coin. No coin involved, but you get the idea. My first time I got the pastrami benedict, with country potatoes (includes onions and bell peppers). I found everything perfectly cooked but thought yellow mustard might be a better choice than spicy brown. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it. Corned Beef Hash sounded good to Dad that first time. However, Dad got the regular benedict this time, and it came with three eggs! 'Cause odd numbers look better. My expansion took me to the so-called Kickin' Chicken and Biscuits, which features Cajun spiced chicken tenders and their scrumptious Biscuits and Gravy. About those biscuits... fresh, moist (how many times have you had hardtack at other restaurants?), and amazing gravy. 5* a few dashes of hotsauce made the chicken really kick. Dad enjoyed his eggs, and the sauce looked excellent. Maybe his potatoes were a tad overcooked? Coffee is really good here, and a big mug usually does me right, no refill to date. Great place to have breakfast. My husband and I had reservations to eat at Serrano Buffet at Yaamava Casino. Over 100 people in line....no thank you! So hubby searched for a place to eat and he found this place. As soon as you enter, it feels homey and food smells delicious. My hubby ordered the State St Omelet, which had bacon, sausage, mushrooms, spinach, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, diced Ortega chiles and cheddar cheese. He got the hashbrowns and wheat toast with it. It was delicious! I was unsure of what to get and asked about their Loco Moco. Server said it was good and that Hawaaian natives enjoyed the dish so I went for it. Delicious!!!! It is fried rice topped with certified Angus Patty, and 2 eggs covered with gravy. You can make it a Big Kahuna and they add Spam. I got the eggs medium over. Cannot tell you how much I enjoyed eating this dish. Staff is super nice and very attentive. Very good food, insanely expensive for breakfast. And you can only have one mimosa because they're so expensive. Unless of course you've got money to throw away. Service is OK, not a lot of smiles. If you're splitting a breakfast, they will charge you two dollars for an extra plate. They won't split your breakfast for you, but they'll charge you just for putting the plate on your table. Then they charge an extra 4% if you use a credit card. So by the time you get out of there you're paying all kinds of extra money. Like they don't make enough already off of an egg. read more
