It looked busy and we took a seat at the pretty open bar. The bartender did not greet us right away, however, they were nice. We ordered a beer and a wine.....nothing fancy. We ordered a Caeser Salad w/Salmon and the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. Prior to receiving our meals, we were presented with a croissant with some sort of drizzle on it. This complimentary treats were amazing....yummo! That is where the yumminess ended unfortunately. There was another couple at the bar that received their food and one of them was incorrect. The woman stated "this is not what I ordered". She said I want what I ordered but I do not want to wait another hour for my food. The bartender did come over and get her the correct order. My husband received his buffalo chicken wrap and it was very dry with no sauce at all. They had just brought me a side Caeser with his meal and I stated that I had ordered it with Salmon. They took it back and about 25 minutes later, they brought me the same side Caeser with no Salmon. I just ate the side Ceaser and asked the bartender to take the Salmon off of the bill. I have been to the restaurant twice and both times the service and food was of quality. The serve pushed me about paying like I wasn't going to pay for something since I was dining alone. Went here for lunch it said on the app that there was no wait, but there was a 10-15 minute wait. Finally got our table and sat there for 30 minutes waiting for someone to come and take our order but no one came. Went to leave and ask for the manger to let them know. For my first time here, the service was terrible. My brother and I were at our table since 1:15 and did not even get drinks until 30 minutes later at 1:45. We were not greeted by our server and the manager had to bring us the bread after 20 minutes of sitting at the table looking around. We ordered an appetizer and asked for plates but the server did not come back with plates until 10 minutes later and at that point we finished our appetizer. After an hour of being there (around 2:15) we still did not receive our food but I found a caterpillar in my strawberry lemonade. I thought it was a strawberry stem at first but from further inspection it was in fact a caterpillar floating in my drink. Once we called a manager over and explained how dissatisfied with our service we were, he did take our appetizer off the bill and rushed our food out. The food was pretty good (6-7/10) which was great but since our service was terrible it just did not make up for what previously occurred . We paid our bill and left and that is the end. read more

Disappointed. Our first time here. The table was dirty. We had to ask someone to clean it. we ordered the Wisconsin cheese bites and they were cold. So we thought OK, let's give it a try and see how the meal goes We ordered two burgers exactly alike. One came with the tomato and the other did not. And the bacon was not cooked when I say not cooked I mean it was it barely cooked and we're not the kind of people that want ours burnt to a crisp! And last, but not least, there is nowhere on the menu that says that the hamburgers are 100% beef but definitely did not taste like 100% anything it was mushy! I placed my order, inside the restaurant, and 20 minutes later they sent the bill. I noticed that they missed 1 one of my orders. So, I went inside at 6:15 to tell them that they missed an order. Several times I was told that the person who took my order was busy packing "To Go" orders and I would have to wait. Meanwhile, people are coming and going and I am sitting there. Finally it is 6:30 and my original take out order was ready, but I can't get anyone to take the order that they missed. At 6:40 the front desk is full of workers, 4 to 5 people. I asked a fourth person about placing an order for the meal they forgot. She said, again, they are busy. I then told her to get the manager, it is now 6:45. We got there at 5:45. He came out and apologized and the food was done by 6:55. I have never seen this before or have been treated like his before. The best part of meal was the croissant. The steak was over seasoned and overcooked, it was supposed to be medium rare, and I couldn't eat it. read more

My husband and I went for lunch. I am glad I didn't read the yelp reviews before I went or I would have probably made another restaurant choice. Our server was very bubbly and attentive. Our drinks and appetizer were prompt, as were our entrees. The food was delicious. I had the fried whiting and my husband had pasta. Our first time at Cheddar's was so so. The food was good, though the burger and fries needed salt. What we didn't like was the service. A drink refill took 20 minutes, dessert took forever, the waitress never checked on us after giving us our food. It seems that service depends on the technology at the table, apparently you are to call the waitress. She never gave us our takeout container and we checked ourselves out. We have waited with bated breath for OUR Cheddars to open!!! It opened Mon and we got there Wednesday!!!! We were there at least 2 hours enjoying the great service, awesome Margaritas and my husbands favorite, "the unforgettable "Pain Killer" ... the incomparable hot croissants dripping with honey butter, leading up to our absolutely delicious Ribs & Chicken Tinders and another of my husbands favs, "The New Orleans Pasta"! We had lovely, engaging conversations with a very knowledgeable bartender and enjoyed fun, stimulating conversations with other folks siting there at the bar!!! There was room at tables BUT we really like sitting at the bar! It's personable and fun!! The restaurant was clean and inviting! We anticipate and welcome the opportunity to return to Cheddars and would highly recommend Cheddars to anyone that holds in high esteem, good food, good service and really unbelievable great prices!!! My experience with this cheddars in New Castle has been unprofessional. While the food has been great, the greeters at door was scrolling on social media, I had to say hello to them, while waiting for my food, the phone rang for an order and the person at the desk hung up the phone and called the caller a Bi***. The other servers are using profanity and there are guest sitting in the restaurant!!! Then I'm not sure if this person was a manger or not but she walks out to me while giving my order and says, "oh I thought you were her boo!" I am completely confused because I was giving the waitress my to go order. Then she went outside on a call yelling and screaming about who she should have beat up etc. that my 14 year old daughter said mommy did you hear her out here cussing and yelling on phone! As I stated before the food has always been great and this is my third visit here and each time a good majority of the staff lacks professionalism. Called the day before to reserve a table for 15 (special occasion). Male manager told me to call the same day at 11:00am (opening) to make a "call-ahead" since they do not take reservations. I called same day and a female told me that the private room is already reserved (called at 11:05am BTW) so someone really jumped on getting that room... When we arrived, a female manager said that she told me on the phone "even though you can call-ahead, there is still a wait time of about an hour." How does this even make sense? Not to mention that if she actually said that nonsense on the phone I would have chosen another restaurant. They then GRACIOUSLY offered us 2 high tables in the bar area. So then, it literally took then another 15 minutes to set 2 tables and when we came in the room the tables were separated by a 5 foot doorway. So my group (co-workers) then had to pick who they want to sit with (very nice vibe for a celebration). There were 45-50 minute intervals between drinks, aps and meals. Went to Cheddars Scratch Kitchen Newark De on 12/1/2023. Had been there many of times and the service and food was always good , which is what brought us back . I have been there at very busy times and not an issue. Last night it wasn't busy at 6:00pm, and no wait . We were seated and had a very nice waiter for all of 5 minutes while he took our drink order and food order. After that he decided to bartend. We could see him because our table was right next to the bar . He never came back with our food after 30 minutes or longer Another waitress noticed we didn't have our food and said she would check on our food . She came back with our food which was completely cold, and the fries looked like they sat all day . Her name was Grace and she was super sweet . She happened to walk by again , and ask how our food was, and we told her cold . She put another order in and 30-40 minutes later no food was brought to us . Not Graces fault she wasn't our server. She happened to walk by again, and said you still don't have your food and we said no. She brought back our food and it was cold again for sitting for 30 minutes before being served the second time . Not her fault she wasn't our server . She brought a manger over his name was Jimmy . We explained the above and that our server bailed to bartend and no one was left to serve us and food was cold twice . Jimmy was very unfriendly and very unprofessional for a manger . He couldn't care less . He said the waiter needs to make money and chose to go bartend and serve tables at the same time. He completely bailed at serving for sure , and didn't care no one took over our table to serve us . Jimmy the manager said if we need food we should've gotten up from our table and told our waiter who now was bartending we needed more food. We sat at a table for service and not the bar so why would we walk to the bar to tell our server we needed food , service, and about the situation. Jimmy the manager didn't apologize and didn't try to fix the situation was very unkind and unprofessional. .He walk out to the computer and walked by as he spoke , but didn't stop at the table to talk and in passing mumbled in a nasty voice I comped the bill . We didn't come to eat for a comped bill . Comped a bill we basically didn't even eat. We came for dinner . Jimmy maybe trying to take care of the food situation would have been better and insure our food came out hot , instead of taking the easy and ignorant way out and comp a bill in a nasty way as if the situation was our fault! We didn't even eat the food it was cold . He should not be a manger and clearly needs a job that doesn't require customer service working with people . We asked for a phone number and name of Jimmy's boss on the way out and they told us she was there working. Her name was Eboni and she came out and we explained the situation. Eboni was very kind and professional and caring about the situation. Eboni said it was very unexceptionable how Jimmy handled the situation , and she offered to get us food to go or we could stay and eat . At this point we were there almost 1 1/2 hours and wanted to leave . I myself took food to go, but my husband didn't. She also asked for my email and when I got home I saw she sent a gift card to come back . That was very kind and very professional, but of course not what I was looking for when my husband and I came to eat . We just wanted dinner . It was a simple burger and fries we ordered. We really appreciate you trying to make a poor situation great . Eboni you were very kind and professional. Grace thank you for trying to help when your weren't even our sever and just happen to notice twice we didn't have our food . We truly appreciate you and the manager Eboni for the redemption trying to make our evening a better one . As for Jimmy a management training program would help or a new career away from customers . We were kind to you despite of poor service and cold food being served. You should've been the same in return . Treat others how you want to be treated! If you like to be treated the way you treated us, then I feel bad for you . We will come back to because we can't let one bad situation ruin our decision. But will ask for Grace as a server if she is available and working . Thank you again Grace and the manager Eboni for going above and beyond l! Eboni the food you gave me to go was very good and hot. We appreciate you! The one star above is only for Jimmy , and maybe the nice server who left us without a server to bartend, but in the server's defense Jimmy allowed that. We went there tonight for my sons birthday dinner. It was our first time here and won't be our last. We were greeted by the hostess and seated right away. The place was very clean! The waiter brought us warm honey butter croissants which were amazing. We had the Wisconsin bites as an appetizer which were amazing as well. My daughter had a burger and fries and my son had the fried chicken with fries and broccoli and cheese, both meals were great. My husband and I both had the steak, which is where I knock off a star. They were both way undercooked. We said something to the waiter and he got the manager, Ed. He offered to fix the meal over but we were on a time crunch because we had birthday plans after dinner. He took my email and before we were even out to the car he had sent us a gift card. I know things happen but they went above and beyond to rectify the situation and for that alone I would go back, gift card or not. Our waiter was absolute amazing, I just wish I could remember his name! And kudos to the manager, Ed, for being so apologetic and making things right. We will definitely be back :) read more
