Jerk Turkey Wings mild, collards and Sweet potatoes
Kara P.

This place was a super cool, hole in the wall, Mama's southern soul food joint. It's small inside but the food packs BIG flavor! The hubs and my parents and myself enjoyed everything we ordered. The women who served us were patient, personable and kind. I think the collard greens and yams were my favorite. The mac and cheese was OK. The chicken and dumplings felt more like a gravy, but still tasty nonetheless. The potato salad was also good. The flavored lemonades were super sweet and delicious! We got the cobblers to go. I tried my husband's peach cobbler back at the hotel. It was pretty good. Just needed some ice cream.

The end of the discussion with the owner after getting off the phone with her.

Listen, there was nothing disappointing about the experience. We were able to check her out at her new location at the fresh grocer, which was great. My family is from Louisiana and so I am spoiled by my grandma's cooking and let me tell you Ms.Saud's yams, fried fish and seafood salad are easily a highlight of our East Coast trip for me and all of my friends! Wow! I became aware of this restaurant, because one of my…read moredaughters said she wanted to visit this eatery during a planned trip to Philadelphia. I read reviews and they were somewhat mixed, but I put my faith in the Elites, who were on point. I ordered the fried fish, mac and cheese, and candied yams. The portions were enormous and more than I could eat alone. My daughter ordered the same sides, but had the bbq chicken bites, and an extra side of seafood salad. My fish was not greasy at all, and the cornmeal crust was light and crispy. It wasn't over seasoned and was delicious. The cinnamon and nutmeg in the candied yams were well balanced and reminiscent of a southern Thanksgiving dinner... a little sweet, but yummy nonetheless. The macaroni and cheese was also as Thanksgiving worthy and beyond. I tasted a chicken bite, and wished I had ordered those too... my eyes are truly bigger than my stomach lol. I liked the seafood salad, but if I lived in Philly, I would order it to accompany a great big mixed green salad. It holds its own and for me, doesn't need to be a side dish. It was an honor to visit Ms. Saud's restaurant, and contribute to her mission

This place popped up and since it was 10mins away from Helium comedy club we went. Upon entering I noticed it was an Asian lady in there. Yeah first red flag. Second after ordering we heard buttons on the microwave, and the ding when it was done. Lastly when I ordered the #23 aka 3 piece whiting, 3 wings no dropping of anything in the grease. We pay n drive off. Look at the food n try it. Yeah...... generic boxed Mac n cheese, canned greens n cabbage, with you guessed it. Canned sweet potatoes. Oh and store bought cornbread (but that wasn't bad ). I don't care if it was an Asian person making my food, but when it's microwaved to heat up, and all the sides came from a can or boxed. I have an issue. Ps. I'd only rate this place a 2/10.

Why can't the 2nd time be as good as the first? Lol…read more I 1st went to Soul Boat in Catonsville MD, and I loved it, wrote a review about it. So this location in Willingboro NJ is closer to home; lots of foot traffic which is a good sign. I ordered catfish chicken wings, mac & cheese, collard greens, black-eyed peas, cornbread & pink lemonade. Chicken wings were good, Catfish was good, but it came in little nuggets rather than fillets which which is what I prefer-but the portions were plentiful. My son loved the Mac & cheese as he did before. Black-eyed peas were good just a little bit dry. Collard greens were good, but I didn't order collard stems - they're the butt of the bread that you just don't want. No stems in the Catonsville MD location. The cornbread was very good & plentiful, just a smaller portion than what I received in MD. This was my first time trying the pink lemonade. It was good but a little too sweet for my taste. So not a problem, I just added water and increased my portion, lol. All in all, because of the distance, I will return to this location, maybe I'll try the Sicklerville NJ location next.

The food quality and presentation were wonderful. I'll absolutely order from them again. The only…read morereason I have it a 4 stars, is that they didn't ice down the boiled shrimp the second it turned pink/orange in the boil, so, it was hot when delivered & a bit tough. Actually, shrimp keep cooking if you don't immediately ice them down. Please consider when shrimp turns pink, plunge it in ice & water to keep it soft. Deliver cold.
