Great pizza variety, taste and value! Amalfi II in First State Plaza recently acquired. Same great people and food

We were in town for a college event. I got the lunch special, which was two pieces of cheese pizza and a soda and my husband got a meat lovers pizza slice and soda. Prices were reasonable. The combination was just around $15 before tip. Food was good. The staff was VERY friendly, Spanish bilingual and the business was busy! They probably had 20 different pizzas out that you could pick a slice from and heat up for a meal. If I lived around here, I would recommend it and try a specialty piece of pizza. Great food, and friendly service. The eggplant appetizer is a must. Everyone of their dishes is fresh and tasty. I like the tomato and basil and the Special pizzas and lasagna. The prices compared to some other restaurants are a few dollars more, but to me, it's worth it. They do have a few tables, but they are often taken. The food is best eaten at the restaurant. If take the food home I warm it up in th oven at 400 degrees for 3 to 4 minutes. read more

Amalfi's is an okay restaurant. It used to be a "go-to" place for our family. They have become expensive, and they now charge a "fee" for your experience. No reason is given for the "fee," just a fee. :( read more

This is only reviewing for take out, which was what most of the customers were doing when I was there, getting slices, or pies to go. The pizza was delicious. The crust was fine, the toppings fresh and flavorful. The service was quick. Nothing to complain about. Could you find better pizza? Maybe, but this is quite good enough for any palate. Pizza is never greasy, which is like an absolute first for us outside of getting pizza in Philadelphia. Sauce is amazing and wings are pretty big for the price. One of my favorites in Delaware!!! read more

I stopped in to this pizza shop and although the shopping center is not the most inviting, this place was awesome. You can definitely tell they are authentic and know what they're doing! The pizzas looked incredible and I can't wait to try them! This time around I grabbed a few salads. The tuna salad came with the biggest portion of yummy tuna, I ate it in three different sittings! It was also only $8.99. The Caesar salad was only $6.99 and with shrimp $10.99. The salads were huge and fresh! A definite steal! read more

Ordered the Amalfi Special pizza. That's pizza notes it comes with extra cheese. I ordered over the phone and specified to just do a normal amount of cheese, not extra, which the person I was talking to confirmed. The pizza I got came with a ton of cheese on it to the point where most of the center of the pizza was completely soggy. I was EXTREMELY impressed by this unassuming restaurant for a lunch before going to Painting with a Twist in the same shopping center. There were an amazing arrays of pizzas available, with tons of meat and vegetarian options. The young woman at the front was extremely pleasant and was kind at recommending her favorites, which were DEFINITELY great. There was a Caesar salad pizza, as well as some other vegetarian slices we got, see the pictures. They were all SO GOOD, with CRISPY crust! We were very surprised and pleased with the pizza that we got. We were also shocked that it was only 13.00 dollars for the four huge slices of pizza???? Grand display of pizzas with all different types of toppings. Pick and choose or customize to your liking. Whether it's a whole pie or by the slice, it's overall good pizza. This place is not getting the amount of recognition that it should. So many different options from pizza to pasta. The staff is amazing attentive and polite. The restaurant is clean and organized with seating. I had a crab pizza .. CRAB PIZZA where do you hear of that it was real crab the taste was amazing not to much salt. My sister had a buffalo calamari pizza like where do they come up with these things. I don't know but I'm loving it. I'm originally from New York and garlic knots are life out there with your slice of pizza. This has been the only pizzeria in Delaware that has the same looking and tasting garlic knots. Great great great! Being a Philly area native, I am usually skeptical of pizza joints outside of the region. No need to worry about this place. Been stationed in Arizona for over four years, came back east to where my wife lives (Elkton, MD), she was at work and I was hungry. Hit up a local barber (Ace of Fades, awesome place, great barbers), asked about a legit pizza place in town, this was the name thrown at me. Went in, great selection, and the slices were on point. I grabbed a slice of cheese and a slice of mushroom & pepperoni. Both were good, mostly the pep & mush, the cheese was okay but could have been a little "juicier"...if that makes sense. Got a medium pie a few days later with my daughter, she ate four slices! Loved it! Poor kid lives with her mom, who can't cook for shit and thinks Domino's is good pizza. Anyway, lucky you, Newark, you have a legit pizza place! Why not 5 stars? Well as I said the plain pie could use more sauce and extra cheese is a must. read more

Bruschetta PIZZA!! Omg so good! But only if you eat it at the restaurant or live close by and pick up. It's so much and heavy so eat it fresh out of the oven for a crispy crust and juicy delicious bruschetta The plain cheese pizzas a good too. Sauce is good. I just took off a star because service can be a little better. Super nice people. But there's always a wait and you kind of just stand there for a while. Even when it was just me and one other person because their focus on making the food, which I get. Just wish they had a designated person to speak to you immediately or get your order. So just be aware of that. I still recommend coming here. I had some kind of ranch chicken sandwich that had lettuce and tomatoes and American cheese and it wasn't great. Surprisingly good pizza joint. Came in on a Saturday around 11am. They had a ton of pizzas already made to sell by the slice. Most people ordered slices to go. I ordered a few slices, jalapeño poppers, fries, and a cheesesteak for dine in. The jalapeño poppers were very good- crunchy on the outside, but nice and cheesy on the inside. I got a slice of the almalfi pizza- basically a supreme. It was very good. The slice was full of toppings, and the toppings were large. The 1 slice was very filling. Staff was super nice. My favorite pizza/hoagie place in the Newark area. The staff is always so friendly and kind, the variety of pizzas are tasty and large, and the atmosphere is great. It's great if you want to dine in and enjoy some sports on the tv's while eating some great Italian food, or are just looking to carry out. Me and my wife go here for pizza whenever we happen to be out that way and have not been disappointed yet. My wife and her family have been going there before we even met but they got me hooked. First and last time ordering here. Had to make a Home Depot run and wanted to pick up pizza for my boys on my way home. It said the wait time was 15 min online so I ordered dinner. I knew I was early about 10 min but figured I would let them know I was there. The girl was very rude telling me that they just got my order 5 min before and that my pizza wouldn't be done for another 10 to 15 minutes. No problem because that's what I expected anyways.. well after watching people come in order and take out their food while I'm still waiting for my order to be finished I figured I would ask again because it was about 30 after I had ordered. Then I was told that it takes 40 minutes. How do I know when it was going to be as long as it was? I would've never ordered food from there since my kids didn't get to eat until 8 o'clock at night. But my issue was that was extremely rude, which should've escalated the situation instead of added to the problem. read more

We ordered a couple of cheese (2 cheese slices and fountain drink for $5.50), a pepperoni, a buffalo chicken, and a slice of tomato pie. The pizzas were all good and the tomato pie was my favorite slice. Nice guy working the counter was very friendly and helpful. Quite honestly as good or better than most nyc pizza I've ever had. Their specialty pizzas are inspired and have really quality ingredients. The chunks of meat on the pizza are huge and not out of some can or prepackaged bags most pizza places use . The staff are always pleasant and the place is always top notch clean. Stop in most times when traveling through Delaware. Great food at a great price. Had a large multi-toppings pizza, noodles in vodka sauce and a turkey sub this time. Less than $40 to feed 4 people. And you can't beat the quality of the ingredients. As we sat waiting for the to go order they brought some bread with sauce as a snack.
