I ordered a large pizza for me and my coworkers and some fries. The pizza was pretty good not anything special but definitely better than a 7 11 slice lol but the fries were definitely below average they had zero taste and were very dry, I've made better in my air fryer. Very small shop I don't think there is room to eat in and it's very hot in the summer as well they prop the doors open and blast industrial fans but other than the fries it was a nice joint for Newark read more

Stopped in for a slice of pizza. Big Z is located in a shopping center near the University but there is plenty of parking. They had a two slice with drink special on the weekend which was added bonus. The pizza wasn't bad. The crust was a little more crispy than I would like. read more

This was a great place to grab a bite to eat! Located at the end of a strip mall, there's plenty of parking and even outside seating on a nice day. We saw plenty of people picking up orders and the delivery guy was busy as well. Food was really tasty, the pizza was hot and cheesy and the tuna wrap was loaded with tuna on a choice of tortilla (I got the white). Fries were hot and crispy. The employees were really nice and patient while we figured out what we wanted and brought our order out to us when it was ready. Would definitely eat here again when in the area. read more

It was move-in day for my UDel student and his housemates. They were hungry and the kitchen wasn't set up, so o ordered them a few boxes of pizza. I was surprised at the speed and service of our delivery man, Edwin! He texted me in advance of his arrival, and was just about to text me that he had dropped the boxes (contactless) on the front porch. He was much earlier than we had estimated, which was so appreciated! The pizza was hot and delicious. The crust was not super thick or super thin, and had corn meal on it, which is a nice touch. The sauce and cheese were in good proportion. The price was reasonable, and I noticed (after tipping Edwin with whatever cash the boys could find) that the tip had already been added to the bill, along with a delivery fee. It was I believe a frozen pizza crust that was not made there. I will never get pizza from this place again. It was that bad, the sausage that was on the pizza. Look like the Jimmy Dean sausage that you're buying in the freezer section at the grocery store. Without question, Big Z Pizza is the best new restaurant on Main Street. I am shocked and appalled to see a 1-star review for this establishment. This is a class act on all fronts. For starters, Big Z has late night in the bag. They offer takeout AND delivery until 2:45 AM Friday and Saturday nights. The delivery service is expedient and reliable. Tip your drivers, folks. Service is great. Call in an order, they know you by your voice. Need a cup of water for your drunk friend? They've got you covered. I've not had a bad experience yet with any of the employees. Give them a tip, too. The food is excellent. I've had a number of pies here, and each one came generously adorned with fresh and delicious toppings. I like the mild crunch of the pizza crust which bespeaks its hand-tossed origins. Tomato sauce and cheese have never been paired better. The Hawaiian has juicy pineapple chunks and tender pieces of ham. The green peppers also delight and titillate; I have yet to find an ingredient they don't go well with. The wings are outstanding, and with a choice of breaded or unbreaded, Big Z has the right poultry appendage for everyone. Jalapeño poppers are decent, but my personal favorite is their stromboli. The small is big enough for two people. The large feeds me for two days. The location, at the tail end of the Newark Shopping Center's appendix parallel to the Pomeroy Trail, is convenient for us East Campus folks. Very disappointed. Ordered pizza and apps well ahead of time for Super Bowl LV on February 7th. Asked to pick up later that day at 5 p.m. I picked up the pizza and got home, only to discover: 1. The pizza was cold. 2. The pizza was dried out and overcooked. 3. There was hardly any sauce or cheese on the entire pizza. 4. We tried to eat it but it was not salvageable. Chucked it. I realize that Super Bowl Sunday is a very busy time but this is unacceptable. We have ordered from Big Z's often over the past few years. Unfortunately our last order was disturbingly gross, especially during this current pandemic. One of our pizzas had hair baked into two different slices of pizza. You can actually suspend the pizza in the air from the piece of hair. I called and complained to the employees working that night and I spoke to the manager Joe the next day. Their only solution was to replace the pizza. I don't know about you but that was the last thought in our mind, to eat another slice of pizza. I was expecting a phone call from the owner and it's been days. I have eaten at Big Z several times and I think they deserve much praise and thanks. Every time I have ordered from Big Z, whether it be pizza or stromboli, I have been impressed by the quality and efficiency of this establishment. The great deals, combined with top notch ingredients, makes this place the hidden gem pizzeria of Main St. I don't think I have eaten pizza in Delaware anywhere other than Big Z since my boyfriend revealed to me what a worthwhile establishment this place is. I have enjoyed the crunch of the green peppers on my pizza, and highly recommend this topping. The grilled chicken is a perfect pairing to the crisp and refreshing pepper. The stombolis are hefty and filling. As a New Yorker, I have a particularly high standard for good pizza. I called the same way I always call to order food and apparently they have switch their system over to having Grubhub take their order. The person messed up my order after reading my order back to me confirming it was correct and when we went to pick it up, we expressed that they messed it up. They refused to give us what we actually ordered and said it was our fault because we ordered through Grubhub when that is the number they have when you look them up. I have called them this way before and the store itself picked up so it is not my fault they changed their system so they don't get "bothered" with phone orders. All I wanted was for them to change 2 things that they messed up and they refused. This used to be my favorite place to get pizza around here, I'm never going again. I've gotten delivery from here because they're on GrubHub. Pizza is pretty decent, with fresh ingredients (and a lot of them available as well). I ordered a cheesesteak here a couple days ago and what they have me had barely any meat in it. I called them back and a man answered and told me they would give me a $3 credit for the next time I order. So today, I ordered another cheesesteak and told the lady on the phone about my $3 credit and she tells me that they don't do that and it doesn't exist. She told me that whoever was on the phone with me lied about giving me store credit. On another note, usually if a couple people order from the same place at the same time but want to pay separately, the delivery fee is shared, but they wanted us all to pay a delivery fee separately for $5 and $7 orders. On another note, the lady also did not know any of the deals they had. I had to tell her the toppings I wanted on the pizza and she had to go and ask if pineapple and chicken were toppings. read more
