The server in the bar was very outgoing and attentive. We would have stayed there but were looking forward to a booth. The Pete's Special sirloin was nothing but fat and gristle, and was returned. My Ribeye was 30% fat and gristle and not a tender bite in the 14oz. My friends filet was very good he said. On the the other hand the sourdough was great. Baked potatoes are hard to mess up. The Brussel sprouts were good too. We went there in April for my 70th birthday and it was mediocre at best. I came out to Livermore for a party this past Sunday. I was already nervous about what the food options were at that party, but lo and behold what was five minutes away from the venue?? Cattlemens!! I was so excited I went on the app or should I say the website and made reservations for my friend and I. I read the reviews, as I always do but then I had to think about something. Some people just complain about everything and I still wanted to take a chance and go anyway! Well, I'm glad I did because when I tell you from the moment, we walked in even though they were super busy, everyone was friendly! Now our server, Mallory, she meets all the customer service awards, recognition, example of representing a business in such an exceptional way! My friend and I were so appreciative of her service, it's making me want to drive 45 miles plus from Sacramento to come back to just that location. Now let's get to the menu, I was starving. I could've ate everything off that menu, but let's face it. The portion size at this restaurant is very giving. It is easy to go into Big back status at this place! However, because I didn't feel like being in the hospital for over eating, I took my time. Although, I did order the half rack of ribs option on their menu, and so did my friend. I don't even know how I was able to finish one rib, because like I said, the portion size is very giving! Ordered the teriyaki NY steak skewers that I got with mashed potatoes and salad. I like the family style serving for the salad & sourdough (so good btw!). You get your own dressing served in a cute little dressing/gravy boat and their ranch is yummy. We sat in the back with other larger tables. Our server was so attentive and patient with all of us. The scenery is so cool walking into this restaurant because of their western theme, it is very on brand for the area that it is in whenever I visit family. The fact that this restaurant will give you a menu and opening this up to see that there is even the option to have an all gluten free menu is the biggest thing that stuck out to me! Whenever I come to the valley I'm always a little hurt by the lack of options that I have when it comes to my food options. But this place made sure that I was not left out of having plenty of delicious options that were not only salads (like I usually find!) I ordered the marinated chicken and sweet potato that were delicious and the service was so attentive throughout our time here. I was so grateful to Christina during our stay and would love to make this a regular spot moving forward when I come to visit. Thank you all for making this menu and having so many options available! We have been to Cattleman's in Livermore several times in the last few months and each time the food was exactly perfect and the service was outstanding. Nice to see when management makes good choices in cooks, servers and hospitality personnel, and those individuals rise to that expectation and excel. Something that is not nearly as common as it once was. I have a small business and I know how hard it is to keep good people on staff and motivated. What a redemption story. Total 180 from my last visit here and what an impressive showing. Only mistake.. they still forgot the beans! Not sure what I have to do to get the that cauldron of beans. This started out great with our server Emilia being top notch. Extremely friendly and answered all of our questions and gave us all the great recommendations including the all important but rarely mentioned "what not to get" which by the way is 5$3 sirloin. We were really impressed with her and glad she was our server. The food here was excellent this time around, bacon wrapped shrimp was hot and crispy, bread was hot, and salad was fresh, cold, and crispy. Again, still not beans... what gives?! All the other tables got beans, just not us. Entrees were similarly delicious. Ribeye was perfectly medium rare and likewise for the prime rib that comes on a sizzling platter with a little show. Thankfully the platter is not crazy hot and it did not continue to cook the meat. Although the outside looks way overcooked due to that platter, it was thick enough to not make it an issue to cook the rest through. Carrot cake concluded the great meal and this will add to my rotation and high up my chain restaurant review list, though this is more of a regional chain. read more

I came here for Father's Day last year to take my partner's dad to a place he's never been. He's a meat-and-potatoes type of guy, and he's already been to Texas Roadhouse many times. Even the reviews here are not that great; the food and service we experienced were excellent. I got the bone-in rib eye, and I got the loaded twice-baked potato for my side. The steak is on par with the quality of Texas Roadhouse. The twice-baked potato was delicious. I grew up eating twice-baked potatoes since my grandma would make them every Thanksgiving or Christmas. I used to go to Cattlemen's in Newark a lot when I was younger with my parents. i always liked the individual booths they offered which felt somewhat private. Ambiance is barn like, like I remembered. I remember the prime rib being much better than it was last night. Ordered the 16 oz prime rib cut medium rare with a baked potato. Service from Sabrina was good and attentive. The salad was as good as I remembered it. The prime rib on the other hand was no where near how I remembered it. It was dry, tough and rubbery. Ended up eating what I could and finished the salad and bread which was quite good. Next time I crave prime rib, I will not be coming here. Great prime rib dinner (large salad, fantastic bread, and sides) to go with large (can be shared) cut of prime rib at a fair price. What makes the dinner even greater is Sabrina our favorite server. This place is a bargain compared to other steakhouses. When was the last time a manager stopped by your table to make sure everything was great. We have not done happy hour but must be great cause all stools and tables filled as we peeked inside the bar area. We make the trip to Cattlemens at least once or twice a month for a prime rib fix. The restaurant was extremely busy, and it was noticeable that the staff seemed rushed and stressed, which is understandable given the crowd. I also received the wrong lemon drop but didn't say anything since it wasn't a big issue and I didn't want to add to the servers' workload. This joint has been going downhill for years!! It's 6 pm, and it's a GHOST TOWN, I thought it was Frisco!! I can totally understand why! I placed a Baby Back Pork Ribs, Baked Potato, a Heineken, and Calamari appetizer order. The Baby Back ribs were warm, it was subpar at best. It tasted like a McRib! Being no service help was insight, and that manager from MODESTO, isn't WORTH BEANS!! I grabbed my plate, and carried it to the kitchen entryway, there I met the cook, and completed an explanation handoff. Well, I used to not like this place but it's because I wasn't getting the salmon entered and bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer. The never ending salad is always so insanely crisp and delicious, I always end up making either a salmon salad or bacon wrapped shrimp salad with my entree. We've tried the ribs before and I didn't love them, I've ordered a burger before and it wasn't the best. But the salmon! And my fiance always ordered a steak he is always happy with.
