Wanted to get "real" coffee instead of hotel / conference coffee . Found this place and had a neighborhood/commercial district vibe that was fast and delicious!

Nice coffee, not too many opinions for baked goods. Cool choice of spring drinks - I was nervous about trying but someday will gain the courage. We ordered from the window and sat outside which was perfect. Would love to come again and try those spring drinks. Service was quick and the person at the counter was helpful as well.

Stopped by Cartel Roasting twicr to get some coffee before my conference. I got a latte which was solid. Espresso and milk ratios were appropriate. I also tried the CCL! The coconut milk and caramel flavors came through and I liked how it was sweetened nicely as advertised. The seasonal pumpkin spice donut was better than expected. The donut was less heavy and more airy/chewy. The maple glaze with pumpkin spice was a nice addition. Staff were polite and nice. There are some tables out front and the side area only opens on the weekdays.

The coffee and matcha drink were good! Got an iced vanilla latte and it was smooth and delicious. The matcha drink was unique and a really good blend of flavours. Definitely a good find!

The coffee is delicious and the place itself is so chill and it has a very pleasant vibe. The employees are nice and kind. A really nice place to work or study! Check them out!

Such a cute walk up spot downtown!!! I stumbled across this place by accident- and ended up getting myself an iced vanilla latte (delicious and well balanced, not overly sweet), and my husband some beans (which he ended up loving). The service was great- for a seemingly popular walk up spot in a poppin area, the line moved fast and they were friendly and knowledgable about their menu and beans. Although I took mine to go, I thought the seating area/ambiance was super cute and would be a great place to relax for a little bit. 100% give this place a try!

I was in Arizona over the weekend and came to Yelp looking for coffee so I wouldn't have to drink another Starbucks drink in my hotel lobby. So happy Yelp recommended Cartel Roasting. I walked up to the window and the cashier was so friendly and patient with me because I was unsure what to order. I asked for her recommendation and she found the perfect drink for me - the CCL. I sat on the patio and noticed a sign they had on their window that stated they were collecting non perishable goods for those in need in their community. Absolutely loved this! Definitely will come back if my travels take me to Phoenix again.

Visiting from out of state and always like finding new coffee spots to try. Ordered a Cortado which is my go to and tried a hot honey scone which sounded interesting. Personally, the scone wasn't for me and seemed more like something that would pair well with a bowl of chili rather than a coffee drink. Their coffee is more on bitter side so again, just my preference but not a fan of that style of roast. I liked the location and overall vibe of place so it warrants a 4 review. Just wish I would've tried a different food item.

Outstanding coffee and service in an early Sunday morning! The outdoor seatings are very nice when the weather is nice. Probably not so much in Phoenix summer.

    Vanilla oat milk latte

Wanted caramel latte with almond milk- didn't have either of those. Coffee was bland- got two vanilla oat milk lattes and they were totally different colors. Had no flavor. Watered down. Definitely not worth $7 a piece. I love local coffee shops, but take your money elsewhere.

I love popping in here after early morning appointments downtown. The staff is always friendly, though it does seem to be a revolving door of employees. Frilly drinks are not their wheelhouse but they do have an experimental section on the menu with a fun seasonal item or two. They have housemade non-dairy milks, which I find richer and more flavorful than mainstream store-bought brands. They have one gluten-free pastry in the cabinet - I would love to see more options added to their arsenal! Overall pleasant experiences :)

    Mango matcha

I'm sorry I have to leave a 2 and this is just for their match mango drink but what a hooooorible idea I give my self 2 stars for my life choice today of taking a risk: I took one sip and had to toss my 8 dollar drink away.. I wish there was a way to sample. I can't speak of their other items they are probably good idk

This small Cartel location makes for a good spot to grab a coffee on the go. The window service is simple and fast. I walked up and had a coffee in my hand in under a minute. The barista was very nice and made the whole process very easy. This Cartel location has a small outdoor seating area with bar seating and a few small tables with seats. Living downtown I have rarely seen people sit here but it could make a good spot to sit for a second. I got here just before they closed as the barista was about to pick up the chairs. They were nice enough to let me sit there for a little longer and were very patient. I ordered a standard cold brew but something was just slightly off about the taste. It is hard to identify just what was off but the taste just wasn't what I have come to expect from a cold brew. Still, I bet it's just a bad batch or something.

Candy Cinnamon Late. Can't live without it!!!

Apparently the shop sources coffees and teas from local businesses. For example, coffees = Infusion Coffee Roasters in Tempe, loose leaf teas and chai = Maya Tea Company in Tucson, kombucha = Milly Moon Kombucha in Phoenix, and breakfast burritos = Lua Lua Catering. [Parking]: Mostly metered parking and I ended up parking few blocks away from the shop (plenty of metered parking spots near the intersection of E McKinley St & N 5th St). [Atmosphere]: Inside of this historic house, the wall features the work of local artists. The shop also has a cute outdoor patio area with tables. [Menu]: Apparently Matcha Latte is one of the more popular drinks here. The shop offers 12 black tea options, 9 green tea options, 8 herbal tea options, 4 white tea options, and 3 oolong tea options. *** Matcha Latte (16 oz, iced - $6.25): I was surprised that my drink was sugar free by default and I probably say yes when the staff had asked about adding sweetener. The drink was not as creamy as I thought and it was honestly a fairly mediocre drink. The drink also came with a paper straw. *** A great spot for a casual 1st date due to great vibe, but matcha latte just didn't hit the spot.

The first time I ordered it unsweetened was accidental, but trying it without sweetener or flavor was what made me realize that their matcha may be the best I've ever had. I've also had their Mas matcha latte and it is also absolutely delicious and simple and still allows me to taste the matcha through the vanilla and sweetness. I've been to other places that serve Kettl matcha, but none have tasted nearly as rich as Futuro's. The atmosphere itself is true to its name. It is futuristic, simple, and beautiful. It is full of unique art pieces of all types, and they sell their coffees and teas as well. I feel at peace inside and they always have vibey music playing at a perfect volume and incense lit. The service itself is one of a kind and makes me feel like I'm at a 5-star restaurant. They bring your items out on a beautiful tray and will always serve your drink with a cup of water on the side if you order it for here. They will even package your food up for you, which I would never expect from a coffee shop. It can be busy at times with a bit of a wait because the drinks are all made one at a time, but it's always worth the wait. The place isn't very big but has plenty of seating given the space. For working from home, they do have wifi but limited outlets. Their pastries served from a local bakery are also delicious.

My husband ordered a mocha, which had that rich chocolatey depth without tasting too heavy, and our daughter chose an iced vanilla latte that was refreshing, creamy, and just as flavorful as the hot drinks. They also use frozen coffee cubes instead of ice cubes so as they melt the coffee doesn't dilute It's not often that everyone in the group agrees, but we all kept saying this was some of the best coffee we've had in a long time. What really stood out was the quality of the beans--smooth, rich, and full-bodied without any bitterness. You can tell they take their coffee seriously. We enjoyed it so much that we couldn't leave without grabbing a bag of their espresso beans to take home, which says a lot. They also offer a great selection of both ground and whole bean coffees sourced from Kona, Hawaii, which adds a unique touch you don't find everywhere. Overall, this was more than just a quick stop--it ended up being a highlight of our day. Definitely a place we'll be coming back to (and recommending to others).
