Futuro currently takes the cake for my favorite coffee shop in Phoenix currently. I've tried their matcha two ways: 1. as an iced latte, unsweetened. The first time I ordered it unsweetened was accidental, but trying it without sweetener or flavor was what made me realize that their matcha may be the best I've ever had. I've also had their Mas matcha latte and it is also absolutely delicious and simple and still allows me to taste the matcha through the vanilla and sweetness. I've been to other places that serve Kettl matcha, but none have tasted nearly as rich as Futuro's. The atmosphere itself is true to its name. It is futuristic, simple, and beautiful. It is full of unique art pieces of all types, and they sell their coffees and teas as well. I feel at peace inside and they always have vibey music playing at a perfect volume and incense lit. The service itself is one of a kind and makes me feel like I'm at a 5-star restaurant. They bring your items out on a beautiful tray and will always serve your drink with a cup of water on the side if you order it for here. They will even package your food up for you, which I would never expect from a coffee shop. It can be busy at times with a bit of a wait because the drinks are all made one at a time, but it's always worth the wait. The place isn't very big but has plenty of seating given the space. For working from home, they do have wifi but limited outlets. Their pastries served from a local bakery are also delicious.
The coffee, the pastries, the vibes -- everything about Futuro has gotten me thoroughly obsessed. The intentionality of every item on their menu shines, and I find myself visiting more and more. I'm currently hooked on the Cafe de Olla, a gorgeous blend of sugar and spice that's topped with a star anise pod that enhances the aroma with every sip. But virtually every menu item -- honorable mention to the Cajeta -- is balanced and well crafted. The baristas are all very knowledgeable about their teas, as well. I've recently been SO hooked by their semi-new weekend pastry artist, Ghita, who crafts such unique desserts. Most recently, I tried their absolutely FIRE black sesame craquelin with a mildly sweet tahini cream. The rhubarb cream pastry was also gorgeous and creative. Futuro as a space is intentionally designed as well, with plenty of seating on both sides, boutique goods for sale, and great reads. It's the perfect place to read a book and chill on weekends. And the staff, even when busy, seem to always perfectly serve each order and efficiently clear out plates. Officially my favorite coffee shop 1000% now.
I have been to quite of bit of coffee shops and this place is up there. Got their cold brew black and it was very flavorful. Came here a second time and got their coffee while drinking it in house. The coffee was served nicely in a small coffee pot and clay cup. The shop is also decorated beautifully with small art pieces thoughtfully placed. Highly recommend this place.
Top tier coffee and baristas, contemporary Mexican art, fire culture. We come every weekend for the GF pastries on weekends.
Regrettably, I cannot stand behind Futuro's drinks. By now, I've tried the cajeta (goat milk caramel and maldon sea salt), cafe de olla (piloncillo, cinnamon, anise, citrus), and ahuacate (avocado, lime, maldon sea salt), but I didn't love any of them. While the ingredients compositions are intriguing, I didn't actually like any drink that much. The cajeta was neither sweet or savory enough, and the cafe de olla was weak and not sweet. The ahuacate wasn't my favorite either, but it was indeed a refreshing drink with the lime cutting through the sweetness. However, the sea salt pistachio black sesame cookie sourced from a friend of the business Augustina Fekete's weekend menu, which is reportedly gluten free on weekends (but not widely advertised, if this is your dietary restriction make sure to still ask!)
Absolutely a visually beautiful, modern, artistic place with Mexican inspired drinks and currently serving baked goods from Ghita (Romanian culture based with a love of French pastry and named in honor of the baker's father.) This review is based on our most recent trips but we have been going for at least 7-8 years and fell in love right away. This is a well over due review! The minute you step in you can feel the artistic vibes. They are always featuring artwork and usually of someone local or Mexican inspired art. The service is always excellent. The baristas are very knowledgeable. They always have great coffees from a variety of single origin areas. A lot of their cold brews come from Sey coffee. I'm a super big fan of their cold brews. We have also dabbled in their lattes which are delicious as well. One of my all time favorites the matcha con agua de coco. Not only is it tasty but beautifully presented. I definitely recommend anything on their drink list, from the matcha, to the coffee, to the teas. All great and carefully crafted! It's definitely a top coffee spot for us and we are always recommending it visitors and locals who have never tried it. The newest baked goods from Ghita are hitting soooo good. We have had the Romanian cake and most recently the chocolate beet cake and roasted kabocha squash cake which are amazing! I look forward to more treats from her! Overall an amazing experience! You won't regret it! You'll keep going back for more. If you are in the downtown area come check them out. Such a lovely place ! We will keep being regulars .
one of my fav coffee shops in the valley! love their story and focus on their history, their coffee is delicious, and the experience is intimate. i ordered mazapan (perfect color, not too sweet, delicious!) and @ghita_phx desserts (AMAZING; some of the most unique desserts currently being made in the valley; AND gluten-free!!!) to go. service was friendly and fast, and i always find myself coming back here.
I had been hearing a lot of mixed things about Futuro, so I decided to finally stop by and check it out for myself. I came with my cousin and a friend and both of them had a similar experience as me. The shop itself is super minimal. All white, very design-forward. Personally, I didn't find it cozy or welcoming. It's not the kind of place I'd want to sit in and hang out for a while. Now the drinks: they were good. The menu is Mexican-inspired with unique house-made flavors, which I definitely appreciated. You can tell they put effort into what they're serving. But while the drinks were good, the overall experience just didn't feel warm or inviting. Worth trying if you're curious or into clean, modern aesthetics. But if you're someone who looks for warmth and comfort in your coffee shop experience, this may not be it. It's also good if you want to grab and go!
One of the best matchas that I've had in Arizona! I got the Mas matcha latte (without the pocky) and my friend got a hojicha latte and we both loved our drinks. Although there was quite a wait for our drinks, it was worth it! The staff were super friendly and pleasant, the interior was cool, and the drinks were great. We would definitely come back!
Heard amazing things about Futuro and the presentation - edible flowers and sparkling water, was even greeted by what appeared to be a regular who stated that we found the best coffee shop in town. Futuro definitely did not meet these now high expectations. We were not greeted but were told, "I'll be with you when I can" by the woman behind the counter. She was the sole employee around 8:15am on a Wednesday so I get being tied up and not having any backup but the language was really off putting. She did offer a sample of the horchata when I asked but she was unwilling to provide any recommendations or input. They also only had one dairy free option - oat milk which she claimed was a "high grade barista line" but it was loaded with sugar and seed oils when I read the ingredients. We enjoyed the drinks though they were on the sweet side. I was really hoping for a better experience. There are other coffee shops with Latinx culture and flavors that I'd rather go to.
Paid for a matcha drink and cafe de olla with 2 crescents for $43. Pastries are not made in house yet overcharged on price and not even warmed up because they don't have an oven. Seating is very industrial and singled out. Instead of tables to chat amongst friends and peers there are unseemly displays scattered around the place.
FUTURO is a modern and minimalistic coffee shop doubling as an art gallery/creative space. This spot is located in the Phoenix area where street parking will be your best bet. Inside, they have a sleek minimalistic interior with some cool art up on display. They have about 4-5 tables for seating inside with a couple tables outside the shop as well. For their menu, they have thoughtfully crafted coffee, matcha, and tea drinks. I got the MAS (matcha con crema de vanilla) and it had a unique flavor profile with a good amount of roast. Overall, I am glad I got the chance to check them out. They are definitely one of the more unique and art-forward coffee shops I have been to. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Stop by to enjoy some art and drinks!
Ordered: Mas (~$9): matcha with vanilla crema Cajeta (~$7): goat milk caramel and maldon sea salt Aya's take: FUTURO makes the list for top 10 cafes & coffee shops I've ever been to! It has that indoor-outdoor feel by somehow connecting the interior and architecture with the outside surroundings. They're also playing very calming music and have art throughout. It's very minimalistic and almost doubles as an art gallery. I tried 2 drinks, the Cajeta and Mas. Both were exceptional. Made with some of the best espresso (SEY Coffee) and matcha (Kettl), respectively - I knew I was in for a treat. Being from NYC and having tried both original locations of SEY & Kettl, FUTURO has taken exceptional ingredients and transformed them into lattes that are extraordinary. The flavors were distinctive, balanced, and earthy. I'm jealous of the people in Arizona who have access to this spot! This is an absolute must try.

The matcha was GOOD good! And the vibes? 10/10! Came in on a Friday afternoon and was honestly blown away by how simple yet artsy this place is. The perfect little spot where you can get some work done without feeling like you're stuck in a library. It's quiet enough to focus, but the music keeps the vibe alive and somehow makes you want to stay longer than you planned. Basically, came for the matcha, stayed for the vibes. Would definitely come back! read more

I am so, so glad that I finally made the visit to Futuro because it definitely met and even surpassed my expectations! I've only heard great things and it was such a pleasure to make a visit. The interior is ultra modern, and art-centered. On a Wednesday morning, there was one staff member holding it down and a wait/line with about 5-6 people, so the wait was about 15-20 minutes in total-- including ordering and waiting for drinks. There was mainly only paid street parking options, but it wasn't hard to find any right in front of the shop. I got two drinks: Más and Abeja, to try their matcha and coffee, and really thoroughly enjoyed both. The matcha is a little bit on the milkier side, but I did enjoy that it was completely unsweetened, and leaned on the vanilla cold foam for a light sweetness. I think I enjoyed the coffee more personally, as the honey paired super well with the espresso and oat milk. The espresso is very good. I would come back if I was in the area, I just wish the parking situation was a little different! read more
Came to this coffee shop on a Sunday morning and it was busy! Love the interior design - very minimal and futuristic. A lot of their coffee were Mexican inspired. I got the lechera latte and it was delicious. It was rich and not overly sweet. Would love to visit again and try more drinks next time. read more

Can't start my morning without a coffee and heard good things about Futuro so we checked it out! The cafe is very simplistic, modern, and creative with the art pieces around. I thought that was super neat to have mixed an art gallery with a coffee shop. I ordered the Cafe de Olla and that was definitely one of the best lattes I've had in a while! It was made perfectly; the flavors, good quality espresso, etc. My partner ordered the matcha and wished it was a bit sweeter, but overall still a great quality matcha. If you're in the area you should definitely check them out! The service was excellent and they answered all the questions I had about the menu. read more

Loved the intimate seating and how bright it airy the cafe is. The service was quick and friendly and the coffee and pastry were delightful. I loved how my drink (the lechera) tasted. It was not overly sweet and wasn't not overly espresso-y. read more

Creative menu and excellent espresso. The baristas were friendly and took their time to make each drink. The interior was very clean (literally and aesthetically) so it's a nice spot to hang out. I ordered an iced moca (stoneground cacao) and throughly enjoyed it. The cacao had a nice bitterness to it and I appreciated the smaller cup, making the drink more espresso forward. If you plan on heading to FUTURO for the first time, there is (metered?) street parking on Garfield and the entrance door is on the left side. read more

I drive by the place daily as I live down the road and always see people here. It's very trendy vibes. I walked in and said it was my first time she recommended a lot of things and I went with what she said was most popular the "MAR" which is an americano with vanilla bean crème. Came out to $7. I think the crème was really good and the espresso was kinda tangy for my liking. Overall nice place. read more

Omg love!! I was visiting phoenix for a conference and so incredibly fortunate to find this gem of a cafe on the first day. I ended up going 3 of 6 days we were in Arizona, and we were in Sedona for some of that time. The cafe is a whole experience. The space is beautifully curated with local art on the walls and furniture that's really aesthetic. The drinks and come in lovely clay dishware and even the to go drinks are served on a wooden platter. And the food and drinks are incredible! The espresso is served with a palate cleanser (as it should be) and a card with notes about your drinking. The champurrado is not overly sweet it can often be. The tamales are made with heirloom blue corn. The moca is made with stoneground cacao which just elevates it above any other moca I've had. The pride they take in their business is so evident and it really shines through in the product. read more

Minimalist white decor, clean lines, artsy vibes and unique menu. There was no one at the counter when we walked in, and we had to wait a bit for someone to show up - no apologies given. The beautiful layout / presentation for the drinks and the fact that they are brought to you made up for it. Parking is street parking downtown. No issues getting a spot on a weekday afternoon, but may be more of an issue on weekends. The artwork inside is constantly rotating, which I like. read more
