I am so, so glad that I finally made the visit to Futuro because it definitely met and even surpassed my expectations! I've only heard great things and it was such a pleasure to make a visit. The interior is ultra modern, and art-centered. On a Wednesday morning, there was one staff member holding it down and a wait/line with about 5-6 people, so the wait was about 15-20 minutes in total-- including ordering and waiting for drinks. There was mainly only paid street parking options, but it wasn't hard to find any right in front of the shop. I got two drinks: Más and Abeja, to try their matcha and coffee, and really thoroughly enjoyed both. The matcha is a little bit on the milkier side, but I did enjoy that it was completely unsweetened, and leaned on the vanilla cold foam for a light sweetness. I think I enjoyed the coffee more personally, as the honey paired super well with the espresso and oat milk. The espresso is very good. I would come back if I was in the area, I just wish the parking situation was a little different! read more

Futuro currently takes the cake for my favorite coffee shop in Phoenix currently. I've tried their matcha two ways: 1. as an iced latte, unsweetened. The first time I ordered it unsweetened was accidental, but trying it without sweetener or flavor was what made me realize that their matcha may be the best I've ever had. I've also had their Mas matcha latte and it is also absolutely delicious and simple and still allows me to taste the matcha through the vanilla and sweetness. I've been to other places that serve Kettl matcha, but none have tasted nearly as rich as Futuro's. The atmosphere itself is true to its name. It is futuristic, simple, and beautiful. It is full of unique art pieces of all types, and they sell their coffees and teas as well. I feel at peace inside and they always have vibey music playing at a perfect volume and incense lit. The service itself is one of a kind and makes me feel like I'm at a 5-star restaurant. They bring your items out on a beautiful tray and will always serve your drink with a cup of water on the side if you order it for here. They will even package your food up for you, which I would never expect from a coffee shop. It can be busy at times with a bit of a wait because the drinks are all made one at a time, but it's always worth the wait. The place isn't very big but has plenty of seating given the space. For working from home, they do have wifi but limited outlets. Their pastries served from a local bakery are also delicious. read more

The coffee, the pastries, the vibes -- everything about Futuro has gotten me thoroughly obsessed. The intentionality of every item on their menu shines, and I find myself visiting more and more. I'm currently hooked on the Cafe de Olla, a gorgeous blend of sugar and spice that's topped with a star anise pod that enhances the aroma with every sip. But virtually every menu item -- honorable mention to the Cajeta -- is balanced and well crafted. The baristas are all very knowledgeable about their teas, as well. I've recently been SO hooked by their semi-new weekend pastry artist, Ghita, who crafts such unique desserts. Most recently, I tried their absolutely FIRE black sesame craquelin with a mildly sweet tahini cream. The rhubarb cream pastry was also gorgeous and creative. Futuro as a space is intentionally designed as well, with plenty of seating on both sides, boutique goods for sale, and great reads. It's the perfect place to read a book and chill on weekends. Regrettably, I cannot stand behind Futuro's drinks. By now, I've tried the cajeta (goat milk caramel and maldon sea salt), cafe de olla (piloncillo, cinnamon, anise, citrus), and ahuacate (avocado, lime, maldon sea salt), but I didn't love any of them. While the ingredients compositions are intriguing, I didn't actually like any drink that much. The cajeta was neither sweet or savory enough, and the cafe de olla was weak and not sweet. The ahuacate wasn't my favorite either, but it was indeed a refreshing drink with the lime cutting through the sweetness. However, the sea salt pistachio black sesame cookie sourced from a friend of the business Augustina Fekete's weekend menu, which is reportedly gluten free on weekends (but not widely advertised, if this is your dietary restriction make sure to still ask!) read more

Absolutely a visually beautiful, modern, artistic place with Mexican inspired drinks and currently serving baked goods from Ghita (Romanian culture based with a love of French pastry and named in honor of the baker's father.) This review is based on our most recent trips but we have been going for at least 7-8 years and fell in love right away. This is a well over due review! The minute you step in you can feel the artistic vibes. They are always featuring artwork and usually of someone local or Mexican inspired art. The service is always excellent. The baristas are very knowledgeable. They always have great coffees from a variety of single origin areas. A lot of their cold brews come from Sey coffee. I'm a super big fan of their cold brews. We have also dabbled in their lattes which are delicious as well. One of my all time favorites the matcha con agua de coco. Not only is it tasty but beautifully presented. I definitely recommend anything on their drink list, from the matcha, to the coffee, to the teas. All great and carefully crafted! It's definitely a top coffee spot for us and we are always recommending it visitors and locals who have never tried it. The newest baked goods from Ghita are hitting soooo good. We have had the Romanian cake and most recently the chocolate beet cake and roasted kabocha squash cake which are amazing! I look forward to more treats from her! Overall an amazing experience! I had been hearing a lot of mixed things about Futuro, so I decided to finally stop by and check it out for myself. I came with my cousin and a friend and both of them had a similar experience as me. The shop itself is super minimal. All white, very design-forward. Personally, I didn't find it cozy or welcoming. It's not the kind of place I'd want to sit in and hang out for a while. Now the drinks: they were good. The menu is Mexican-inspired with unique house-made flavors, which I definitely appreciated. You can tell they put effort into what they're serving. But while the drinks were good, the overall experience just didn't feel warm or inviting. Worth trying if you're curious or into clean, modern aesthetics. I don't understand the hype for Futuro. Service was incredibly slow. I waited over 15 minutes for my coffee. The music was also loud enough that I couldn't have a conversation, making the place feel more like a club than a cozy spot to hang out. The coffee itself was nothing to write home about. The mocha wasn't as rich or chocolatey as I'd hoped. The decor was also bizarre. I'm not sure what the religious imagery was supposed to add, and the seating seemed to prioritize aesthetics over comfort. Heard amazing things about Futuro and the presentation - edible flowers and sparkling water, was even greeted by what appeared to be a regular who stated that we found the best coffee shop in town. Futuro definitely did not meet these now high expectations. We were not greeted but were told, "I'll be with you when I can" by the woman behind the counter. She was the sole employee around 8:15am on a Wednesday so I get being tied up and not having any backup but the language was really off putting. She did offer a sample of the horchata when I asked but she was unwilling to provide any recommendations or input. They also only had one dairy free option - oat milk which she claimed was a "high grade barista line" but it was loaded with sugar and seed oils when I read the ingredients. We enjoyed the drinks though they were on the sweet side. I was really hoping for a better experience. There are other coffee shops with Latinx culture and flavors that I'd rather go to. read more

Inside, they have a sleek minimalistic interior with some cool art up on display. They have about 4-5 tables for seating inside with a couple tables outside the shop as well. For their menu, they have thoughtfully crafted coffee, matcha, and tea drinks. I got the MAS (matcha con crema de vanilla) and it had a unique flavor profile with a good amount of roast. Made with some of the best espresso (SEY Coffee) and matcha (Kettl), respectively - I knew I was in for a treat. Being from NYC and having tried both original locations of SEY & Kettl, FUTURO has taken exceptional ingredients and transformed them into lattes that are extraordinary. On Friday August 7th at approximately 11 am a business partner invited my family and I to Futuro for coffee. Upon arrival were greeted by a girl (very light complexion and straight long hair) who was running the cashier which was nice to us. After ordering our drinks my wife observed a beautiful rock on the left side of the cashier and kindly picked it up to show it to my daughter. All of a sudden a woman (glasses and wavy hair) who was making drinks rushed over and rudely said to my wife verbatim using unpleasant tonality and face gestures " Don't touch the rock !!! " my wife responded " No worries " and as my wife was placing the rock back; the woman said " You no worries..I am not the one that is worried here because your the one that picked up the rock so if anything you should be worried not me " my business partner, wife and I were appalled by how she addressed my wife. There were other customers present who seemed uncomfortable on how the woman addressed my wife as well. My business partner immediately said " I am never coming here again and I will never bring people here again " and I responded " me either ". We all spoke about the interaction and decided that I would leave a negative review online not only on google, but on every single platform such as yelp, instagram etc. I hope management addresses this issue accordingly and based on other comments I can see this is not the first time customers have experienced bad customer service. You not only lost a few new potential customers for life, but you also lost a repeated client and a whole company as well. read more

Can't start my morning without a coffee and heard good things about Futuro so we checked it out! The cafe is very simplistic, modern, and creative with the art pieces around. I thought that was super neat to have mixed an art gallery with a coffee shop. I ordered the Cafe de Olla and that was definitely one of the best lattes I've had in a while! Omg love!! I was visiting phoenix for a conference and so incredibly fortunate to find this gem of a cafe on the first day. I ended up going 3 of 6 days we were in Arizona, and we were in Sedona for some of that time. The cafe is a whole experience. The space is beautifully curated with local art on the walls and furniture that's really aesthetic. The drinks and come in lovely clay dishware and even the to go drinks are served on a wooden platter. And the food and drinks are incredible! The espresso is served with a palate cleanser (as it should be) and a card with notes about your drinking. The champurrado is not overly sweet it can often be. The tamales are made with heirloom blue corn. The moca is made with stoneground cacao which just elevates it above any other moca I've had. The pride they take in their business is so evident and it really shines through in the product. read more

Food was was very nice, but I nor ANYONE I've recommended this place to will EVER return due to staff and the disrespect that my partner experienced when asking for a to-go cup. Whether it is an "experience" purchase or not, My partner should not have been embarrassed by the barista behind the counter and scolded with such condescending nature from asking for a cup to finish her drink at her work. After one barista confirmed that my partner could indeed take the cup to go later if said "experience" was to be cut short (before making said purchase), the secondary barista using a tone that pierced an already packed coffee shop and could clearly hear over general noise and atmospheric music. Stating that my wife was trying to "bypass" said experience of enjoying said purchase at table. In no way does anyone deserve to be scolded over such a small task.
