When your number is up, Yumi, the owner/ barista/hostess will personally escort you to her small but bright and welcoming suite. The small but original menu offers baked goods, cortados lattes, non coffee lattes and specialty beverages. The vibe of this space clicks with the other gem, clothing, tattoo and hair salons within the Carmody shopping center. You order from the unique menu offering baked goods, cortados lattes, non coffee lattes and specialty beverages. The Kuromitsu matcha latte is served iced due to the cold foam but my daughter requested she could try the kuromitsu match latte hot. ($7.5) with the kuromitsu on the side. Honoring the customer's desire, Yumi gladly accommodated. I ordered the miso caramel latte. ($7.) Both drinks were tasty. The Kuromitsu had a rich taste like molasses but with less bitterness. Mix this with milk and it's like a dessert! The miso and caramel combined sweet with savory to produce a distinctive taste. My daughter and I each believed we had ordered the better drink, but after swapping sips, we were surprised to find ourselves preferring each other's instead! I've been visiting Yumi's coffee for a while now and after every visit I am reminded why Yumi's is the best! This has been, consistently, my favorite cup of coffee (latte) that I've ever had. Yumi has mastered her craft with espresso and matcha. While I do usually get latte's here, i do occasionally get a matcha or try my wife's, and the matcha is equally as great. When visiting Yumi, it isn't your typical coffee shop experience, you don't wait in line to have your order taken, then wait for your order at a counter. Rather, you get to have a personal experience with Yumi (and sometimes her husband Brett) as she crafts you the perfect drink! Brett and Yumi are always great company and I really enjoy getting to chat it up with them each time we go! Not only is the company and drinks good, but the assorted, rotating pastries and treats are delicious! There are flavors that I wouldn't have thought of mixing or trying before. Each time I go, I always make sure to get something to eat, everything I've had has been delectable! Depending on the time of day, the queue can get a little long, however there are plenty of interesting magazines to look through spread out in the seating area of the Carmody that are fun to look through! Yumi is the sweetest soul. The entire experience feels very special as she only allows one party in the shop at a time. You are able to chat with her and watch her make your drink. I absolutely loved this experience. It's pretty self explanatory. Grab a number and she'll come out and call you when your spot is ready. It's a private intimate experience with 2 chairs, and she makes your drink in front of you. For my first time, I wanted to try the signature drinks, so ordered the matcha and the Japanese caramel style latte. Finally got to try this place out after trying to get my schedule lined up to when they were open. It's a cozy little cafe with only 2 seats inside the Carmody. There's limited parking because it's shared with all the vendors that are inside the Carmody. You have to pull a number and then they call you when they're ready to take your order. I highly recommend getting here right when they open at 10am because I was hoping to try the baked goods but they were all sold out by the time I got there at 115pm. We waited about 35 minutes but there were lots to look at and their was a cute little waiting area to sit with japanese magazines and playing cards. I got the Kuromitsu matcha latte iced and that was really delicious, but I really want to try it hot next time. I can't wait to go back here again. When you arrive, expect there to be a little bit of a wait depending on what time you come. You pull a number, and have a seat until she calls your number. Had a lovely time here with a lovely friend qt Yumi's shop. The space is cozy and intimate and when we got here around 9 AM on a weekday there was only one party ahead of us. We waited for maybe 20 minutes before we were called and by the time we left there was already a sizable number of people waiting for their turn to have some incredible coffee and tea. I had the miso caramel latte. You can tell Yumi puts so much passion into what she does to craft an exceptional beverage. It was very well balanced in flavor with some of the smoothest coffee I've had. It wasn't overly sweet which I appreciated. Prices are very fair for the high quality of what you get. When I first heard about Yumi's Coffee on social media and read her story, I've been dying to visit! And she just recently opened up her own space in The Carmody which is an adorable shared space for various businesses. Yumi's Coffee is a niche experience similar to various cafés in Japan, where you have an intimate one on one seating with their barista. Yumi has a beautiful quaint space, decorated with various Japanese artwork and a charming coffee bar table which seats two guests. We arrived at 8:50 AM and within 25 mins, we were invited in. I would say right when she opens at 8AM, for the first hour, you would have less than a 20 minute wait. But after 9AM, we noticed that more visitors arrived and the wait looked to be 1+ hour long. The queuing system is very convenient because you grab a number and you could relax nearby as there are plenty of seats and tables. Let me tell you though, it's totally worth the wait! Japan is absolutely one of my favorite countries and being in her space brought back fond memories. She chatted with us as she prepared our drinks. I just loved watching her personally create my matcha drink with her intricate methods. She recommended that it was served hot, but you do have the option for iced. Wow the Kuromitsu Matcha Latte was such a high quality and tasty matcha without a hint of bitterness. My friend also enjoyed her Miso Caramel Latte. We both had her homemade Japanese basque cheesecake and it was so delicious and light, not overly sweet, just perfect. In keeping with the Japanese tradition, Yumi politely declined tipping, which made the whole experience feel so authentic and warm. Located inside the Carmody Phoenix is Yumi's coffee. Upon arrival, we grabbed a number and waited until we were called. Her coffee shop is a small Japanese themed area, giving a more private experience, which I think is awesome. Her menu consists of hot/cold coffee and matcha. We tried the Kuromitsu matcha with cream top and the Kyushu matcha latte with cream top. Both drinks tasted great, I was able to taste the matcha and knew it was great quality matcha. As though it was plots right from the streets of Tokyo, this wonderful establishment provides a cozy, intimate coffee experience like no other in Phoenix. There's only one person running the show, and it's one party at a time (three bar seats and a three-seater bench). Later parties will be waiting in line in the hallway (I waited 20-30 minutes). I ordered the Miso Caramel Latte and Matcha Latte. Miso Caramel Latte (I ordered iced): well-roasted, no bitter aftertaste, had a mellow taste that was neither purely miso or caramel, not overly sweet, tasted "deep" probably from the miso Matcha Latte (I ordered hot): her matcha was very well-balanced, not super bitter like a lot of other Japanese matcha, and not super milky sweet. It really gives a true matcha flavor without going overboard, I highly recommend I would treat this coffee shop as a dining experience. I would dedicate a good amount of your day if you plan to come. I went on a Friday around noon and waited 1 hour and 45 minutes. Be patient as this isn't a typical coffee shop where you go up and order. This is an experience per person or "party". Thankfully I had no plans for the rest of the day since the wait was long. Results may vary sometimes you'll wait long sometimes not. I've only been once, but you can just tell with how she interacted with customers and in how she created this space. She had a little box where you can keep your stamp card, because let's face it, how many times have you asked for a stamp card but you never bring it back or you keep it elsewhere so you end up having to ask for a new one. I'm guilty! This system was genius!! IMO. It is a pop-up coffee shop so you won't find her every day at the Churchill/ Neighborhood Market. But she posts her schedule on her instagram. Best matcha in Phoenix, hands down!! I finally made it out to this small, weekends-only coffee cart at Dig It Gardens to try their special: a sakura strawberry latte. The drink was delicately crafted with hand-whisked matcha and topped with the cutest garnishes. Plus, the matcha was clearly high-quality -- so green, smooth, and mildly earthy. Plan for a wait. It did take us an hour to get our drinks, but I really respect that this was designed to be a place to ~slow down~. My sister and I both had iced matchas - no added flavoring, because they didn't have a special at the time. We also had the banana loaf. SO GOOD! I found out about Yumi's Coffee on instagram, and just had to check it out. Yumi's Coffee is at Dig It Gardens on the weekends. Dig It Gardens is a cute indoor/outdoor space that houses plants for sale, and features local cats as well! Yumi and her husband, Brett, are so friendly and focused on great customer service. There can be a bit of a wait, but it's a 2 person operation and they do their best to connect with each customer. There usually is a limited edition drink special for the month, and also on certain weekends, there are pastries for sale too. I've gotten their normal latte, matcha latte, and chocolate chip matcha loaf, and all were tasty! Follow their IG page for their hours and specials! Sometimes they are stationed at a local event during the week or instead of at Dig It Gardens. P.S. You may have more luck interacting with the cats earlier in the day. I'm sad to leave this review as it's very similar to Joe's in Gilbert. We didn't get to try the product so I'm going with a neutral 3 stars. Only here it's for a different reason. Anyone planning to go here needs to know that you might have to wait an hour or an hour and a half for a coffee. Yumi meets with everyone one-on-one and it takes time. I'm confident that the product is very good. But do you want to wait an hour for a coffee? We didn't know this. We arrived and got number 60. The last number that had been called was 46. Yes, you get a number and sit around waiting as if you're at a deli or a health clinic. The two customers we saw with Yumi seemed to take around 10 minutes each. Doing the math, it was like, "Okay, we're out of here. I can't imagine coffee tasting good enough to justify an hour or more wait." I'm leaving this review so that other potential customers are aware. I'd love to try Yumi's products. We're huge fans of Japanese food and culture having been there last year. But there's a limit to what I'll wait for. Two examples are you'll never catch me dead in a long line for either Nashville hot chicken or that AZ Fish Pop fish n chips. Neither are even close to being worth the wait in my opinion. Yumi isn't lacking for customers. I think the only question is, does she want to make more money? read more

Amazing matcha in a beautiful setting! Yumi's is at Dig It Gardens on the weekends, so it's the perfect place to stroll the gardens and get some plants while sipping on a yummy coffee or matcha. I haven't ordered matcha in a while since I can be picky about it, but I got one today with oat milk, it was perfect! Great mix of sweet and earthy!
