Yumi's is such a unique experience and high-quality matcha! You take a number outside of the little shop and wait for your number to be called. The wait can be pretty long but there's plenty of seating inside The Carmody. Only one party is allowed inside the shop and you get to watch Yumi make your drink. Her and her husband are so friendly. I got a matcha latte and it was amazing, the perfect level of sweetness. They aren't open every weekend, but I lucked out and they were open this Sunday morning.

Take a number and wait. When it's your turn, you will go inside and order.

We went on a Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and waited one hour for our turn at coffee. It's a small menu and you choose what you want. My companion and I each had one of the coffee "specials" on the menu. It is served in a togo cup as there is no seating in the shop itself. There is seating in the hallway of the building.

I absolutely loved this experience. It's pretty self explanatory. Grab a number and she'll come out and call you when your spot is ready. It's a private intimate experience with 2 chairs, and she makes your drink in front of you. For my first time, I wanted to try the signature drinks, so ordered the matcha and the Japanese caramel style latte. Usually milk style lattes are too much for me but both were perfectly made and balanced. I loved watching the matcha whisking process and the measurements and weighing for the latte. She truly makes the experience an art form. I can't wait to come back!

Finally got to try this place out after trying to get my schedule lined up to when they were open. It's a cozy little cafe with only 2 seats inside the Carmody. There's limited parking because it's shared with all the vendors that are inside the Carmody. You have to pull a number and then they call you when they're ready to take your order. I highly recommend getting here right when they open at 10am because I was hoping to try the baked goods but they were all sold out by the time I got there at 115pm. We waited about 35 minutes but there were lots to look at and their was a cute little waiting area to sit with japanese magazines and playing cards. I got the Kuromitsu matcha latte iced and that was really delicious, but I really want to try it hot next time. I can't wait to go back here again. It's such a cute little cafe and Yumi and her husband are so friendly.

This was a coffee experience that made me feel like I had been transported to a coffee shop in Japan! The shop is hidden inside the Carmody marketplace. The shop itself is small and there are instructions outside to take a number and you will be called in. The shop is run by a former barista who worked in a coffee shop outside Tokyo. The drinks are made to perfection in terms of temperature, size, and latte art. I can't recommend this place enough - it was a really cool experience!

Yumi is the absolute sweetest! I'm so glad I had the pleasure of meeting her and getting to know about her story. When you arrive, expect there to be a little bit of a wait depending on what time you come. You pull a number, and have a seat until she calls your number. The shop is small, so only one group at a time is allowed inside, which makes for a great, cozy, intimate experience. We got two matchas with the kiromitsu cream top, and it was delicious! The cream top added a nice sweetness that wasn't overly sweet. The matcha is sourced straight from Japan, and you can taste the quality and richness. The best part is definitely the whole experience. I loved being able to talk to Yumi and watch her make our delicious drinks. Looking forward to coming back!

Had a lovely time here with a lovely friend qt Yumi's shop. The space is cozy and intimate and when we got here around 9 AM on a weekday there was only one party ahead of us. We waited for maybe 20 minutes before we were called and by the time we left there was already a sizable number of people waiting for their turn to have some incredible coffee and tea. I had the miso caramel latte. You can tell Yumi puts so much passion into what she does to craft an exceptional beverage. It was very well balanced in flavor with some of the smoothest coffee I've had. It wasn't overly sweet which I appreciated. Prices are very fair for the high quality of what you get. Yumi was very polite and friendly. It was such a pleasant experience and I'd love to go again sometime for more delicious drinks.

When I first heard about Yumi's Coffee on social media and read her story, I've been dying to visit! And she just recently opened up her own space in The Carmody which is an adorable shared space for various businesses. Yumi's Coffee is a niche experience similar to various cafés in Japan, where you have an intimate one on one seating with their barista. Yumi has a beautiful quaint space, decorated with various Japanese artwork and a charming coffee bar table which seats two guests. We arrived at 8:50 AM and within 25 mins, we were invited in. I would say right when she opens at 8AM, for the first hour, you would have less than a 20 minute wait. But after 9AM, we noticed that more visitors arrived and the wait looked to be 1+ hour long. The queuing system is very convenient because you grab a number and you could relax nearby as there are plenty of seats and tables. Let me tell you though, it's totally worth the wait! Japan is absolutely one of my favorite countries and being in her space brought back fond memories. She chatted with us as she prepared our drinks. I just loved watching her personally create my matcha drink with her intricate methods. She recommended that it was served hot, but you do have the option for iced. Wow the Kuromitsu Matcha Latte was such a high quality and tasty matcha without a hint of bitterness. My friend also enjoyed her Miso Caramel Latte. We both had her homemade Japanese basque cheesecake and it was so delicious and light, not overly sweet, just perfect. In keeping with the Japanese tradition, Yumi politely declined tipping, which made the whole experience feel so authentic and warm. This whole experience with Yumi was incredible, she's so sweet, much gratitude to her and I can't wait to visit again!

Located inside the Carmody Phoenix is Yumi's coffee. Upon arrival, we grabbed a number and waited until we were called. Her coffee shop is a small Japanese themed area, giving a more private experience, which I think is awesome. Her menu consists of hot/cold coffee and matcha. We tried the Kuromitsu matcha with cream top and the Kyushu matcha latte with cream top. Both drinks tasted great, I was able to taste the matcha and knew it was great quality matcha. The drinks also had the perfect sweetness and the cream topping made it even better. Definitely one of the best matcha spots in Phoenix. If you're ever around the area, stop by Yumi's coffee! Not only do you get great drinks, you get excellent service. Yumi was so nice, she made us feel like we were at home.

As though it was plots right from the streets of Tokyo, this wonderful establishment provides a cozy, intimate coffee experience like no other in Phoenix. There's only one person running the show, and it's one party at a time (three bar seats and a three-seater bench). Later parties will be waiting in line in the hallway (I waited 20-30 minutes). I ordered the Miso Caramel Latte and Matcha Latte. Miso Caramel Latte (I ordered iced): well-roasted, no bitter aftertaste, had a mellow taste that was neither purely miso or caramel, not overly sweet, tasted "deep" probably from the miso Matcha Latte (I ordered hot): her matcha was very well-balanced, not super bitter like a lot of other Japanese matcha, and not super milky sweet. It really gives a true matcha flavor without going overboard, I highly recommend I would treat this coffee shop as a dining experience. I would dedicate a good amount of your day if you plan to come. And it will be worth it.

Wow!! Such authentic tasting matcha!! Menu is simple and yumi makes sure that every matcha is perfect!! She is super sweet and the area is very cute!

I went on a Friday around noon and waited 1 hour and 45 minutes. Be patient as this isn't a typical coffee shop where you go up and order. This is an experience per person or "party". Thankfully I had no plans for the rest of the day since the wait was long. Results may vary sometimes you'll wait long sometimes not. Yumi's menu is simple, and straight to the point with every drink she makes with love and care all made in front of you. Love all the interior pieces and art with the skylight. Definitely one of my favorite places to go for coffee or matcha. Again, your wait times may vary on day and time.

    Sam L.

Yumi and Brett are some of the nicest people I've come across, the best of all is their support for the community and even aspiring coffee shop startups. The drinks themselves are well-crafted and a testament to the fact that you don't need specialty flavors for good coffee (although they have, don't get me wrong). You can sense the care and attention she puts into her craft with the skills to back it up - look at that latte art! That above all is why you should try them too

I read that their parking lot fills up quickly but that there's a public lot across the street, so I parked there and crossed over. This cozy restaurant was fairly busy and we perused the pastry case while waiting in line, lots of tempting treats. My friend ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes which are topped with blueberries. A lot of their menu items have pork in it, but they were good about substituting. The burrito usually has schreiners chorizo, hash browns, cheddar, sunny egg and chili oil with side of salsa verde. I asked for avocado instead of the chorizo. We brought our own drinks so didn't order any. We grabbed a table on their patio since the sun wasn't over our heads yet. It's nice out there and I think they have some fans going to keep the air flowing, and there was also a natural breeze. Our food came out and they were plated beautifully. My burrito looked good, but it had too much hashbrowns and also there wasn't any chili oil, which was a bummer. Maybe they normally put it on the chorizo so they forgot to add it to my avocado. The egg was runny which I like: The salsa verde was delicious; I love cilantro and it had great flavors. I tried the pancakes and they were fairly rich but I liked the tart lemon flavor and the blueberries, one of my favorite fruits. This is a nice place to meet up (small groups) and I'm glad I visited again.

There's lots of room to sit, and it looks like a good spot to get some work done. I had been here before and tried the strawberry matcha like a year ago, and I have to say it's not my favorite. I think it was quite milky, and I wasn't able to taste the matcha really, but maybe it was a off day? I have been super into sea salt foam Vietnamese coffee lately, so opting for the Ca Phe Sea Salt was a no brainer, and this was perfect. The foam is sooo good, and is delightfully creamy, without being too heavy. The coffee flavor was strong, and I felt that it was very authentic to a true Vietnamese coffee. I will definitely be back for that! I did try the black sesame banana bread as well, and the butter on it was a great addition, but I don't know if I would order it again (not a huge fan of black sesame personally, and the flavor was pretty strong). The staff member was very nice, and he was able to give me a good recommendation on the size of the coffee, since I didn't want too much caffeine. He also offered to heat up my banana bread, provide the butter to go, and then even walked around the counter to give me my items. I really appreciated the great service, and I'll be back for that coffee for sure!
