What a cute, dark, goth-inspired coffee shop! The atmosphere is unique and full of character. We stopped by in a hurry, but there was a long line, so we patiently waited our turn. We ordered a cold brew and a hot chai latte with coconut milk, and both were delicious! One thing to keep in mind: They only offer alternative milks, so no regular dairy milk is available. Their pastries looked absolutely adorable, but unfortunately, they didn't quite live up to expectations. They were also quite pricey for what they were. Overall, a fun spot with a great vibe and tasty drinks, but the pastries were a bit of a letdown. read more

Finally got to give this local coffee shop a try! You can definitely tell they have a ton of regulars, and the staff were friendly. I ordered two of their fall seasonal drinks--a banana and pumpkin pie variation, both with oat milk. They were unfortunately out of cold foam, which was a little disappointing, but the drinks were still good. My dad throughly enjoyed his! They also have GF pastries, so I grabbed the toffee oatmeal cream sandwiches for my mom and I. It wasn't my personal favorite, but my mom really liked it! Overall, I'm glad I finally stopped by and gave this place a try. read more

I absolutely loved the dark ambiance and the moody vibe of the space. During my visit, I ordered the cherry pie cold brew. While I appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet, the plant-based milk separated, and the flavors didn't blend well. I realized afterward that this shop is entirely vegan, and as someone who prefers whole milk, the plant-based alternatives just aren't for me. On a fun note, I really loved the bathroom design, though the two mirrors facing each other gave it a bit of a creepy, unique vibe! read more

Dark Hall Coffee is a solid spot if you're looking for a vegan coffee shop with a distinct vibe. My wife and I stopped by recently and both ordered the vanilla latte; the flavor was decent and well-prepared. The decor is definitely unique and gives the place a cool, moody atmosphere that sets it apart from your average café. While we didn't end up ordering any pastries, they looked quite appetizing in the display case. The service was friendly and efficient, and the location right next to the Coronado is convenient. It's a nice place to grab a drink, though it didn't quite blow us away. Three stars. read more

I ordered the maroon because they're my favorite. They're super soft and delicious with a little bit of crunch. Then I tried something new I saw which was the red velvet skull cake super moist and flavorful. The chocolate is so delicious and to wash it down. I had a roasted maple banana nut coffee, which wasn't too sweet from the maple and has a hint of banana coming through, but not overpowering and the coffee is just delicious. I ordered without the cold foam. read more

So the reason why I posted the display case and not my actual order is basically because I got 1-2 of everything in the display case! Everything was so delicious! Some of my favorites were the lemon blueberry olive oil mini pastry, the berry crumble cake and the caramel macaroon. My son enjoyed the blueberry muffin for breakfast and although we were eating breakfast at The Coronado, the owners own both establishments, so we could bring the pastries to our table. I also left my breakfast at The Coronado to go back to Dark Hall because I learned they were going to have cinnamon rolls at 10am, which was in a few minutes! That roll was also amazing! Solid pastries and I can't wait to come back! read more

I am so glad there is an awesome vegan coffee and bake shop nearby! Everything I have ever gotten there has been delicious! It loses a star because they don't put the prices of their baked goods anywhere to be seen. You have to ask for the prices of the things you are interested in, which is such a bunk system. Knowing the price is part of the decision making process, especially these days. They lose another star because I asked the counter person to tell me the prices of everything in the case and she gave a big sigh and said... "just a minute" and looked super annoyed. It IS annoying to have to tell a customer the prices. Soooo post them! Respect your customers. It's baked goods not health insurance. It shouldn't be a mystery. read more

Dark Hall Coffee - Bakery case with delicious items but no prices. - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

This coffee shop is attached to The Coronado restaurant. I stopped into both over the past weekend. I would have given this coffee shop 5 stars probably, if I had ordered a different coffee drink. I ordered off the seasonal menu and I didn't end up liking my drink, it sounded good but the flavors didn't work for me. I had the strawberry fields iced latte with oat milk. Not sure what about it didn't work. However, my guy ordered a lightly sweetened iced matcha latte with oat milk and it was perfect. So, when I go back and order a drink I like better, I'll update from 4 to 5 stars. And sounds like I messed up by not getting anything from the pastry case. Next time!! Dark Hall is a cool, friendly, local vegan coffee shop I'm glad I came in to support. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon prior to closing. It is nestled in the quaint Coronado neighborhood. Outside looks like a house with a small parking lot in the back. It's easy to miss the entrance, follow the signs! As an avid specialty latte, drinker and sweet tooth, I opted for the gingerbread (Fresh ginger, brown sugar, molasses, spices and vanilla, served with a chewy gingerbread person) after the winter specialty menu. I let one know that I enjoy my drinks a little bit on the sweeter side so they added extra syrup for me! I'm super glad they did because the latte was to my taste. Incredible coffee flavor with a multidimensional flavor profile. Very easy to step on as I got some work done. There's free Wi-Fi, a relatively quiet/serene, ambience, comfortable, and ample seating, and charging. And with incredible drinks made by incredibly passionate folks, owned by Juan and his wife. He stayed back after hours to chat with me about the coffee scene at Phoenix, which I really appreciate it. What more did you want from the coffee shop? This coffee shop has a lot of heart with incredible coffee to back it up. read more

I thought I'd never been here but realized I had come during the days of Covid - which seemed surreal to me!!This rediscovery came recently as I came with a vegan friend to try since they are vegan friendly and I would never know otherwise because it's so good! The ambiance as you walk in is so cool, dark hipster vibes with really cool music and people just hanging out with laptops or with a person enjoying. The line was long and out the door, and inside tables were pretty packed, but I took myself outside for the patio there and it was great. There is so much seating outside and it's covered with plants and foliage so it's beautiful and you get that nice vitamin D from the sun but it's just what comes in between the leaves of the trees. She had a muffin and a matcha and I enjoyed just sitting with my gf, it was delightful. I'll have to come back to get a true feel for the coffee and baked goods although I have only heard great things. read more

I searched online today to find a place that would be cozy to bring my laptop and book and that that had plenty of space. Dark Hall popped up and I was drawn to the grungy vibes from the pictures. It did not disappointment! There's spacious outside seating all around the building and cozy inside seating. Inside seating is more limited, but it fit the cozy vibe I was going for. The owner was taking orders and he had such welcoming energy while taking his time to recommend some drinks. I tried two. First was the Sparking Garden Lemonade Matcha which was so crisp and refreshing. Loved it. I paired it with their Chocolate Banana Cake, which was so moist, creamy, and of course tasty. Then I wanted to make sure I tried some coffee because the reviews I've seen raved about it. I told the owner I enjoy cinnamon so he suggested a brown sugar cinnamon latte. Delicious!! What is so unique about Dark Hall is they only offer alternative milks and gluten free pastries. I've never seen that before at a coffee shop, but I'm here for it. They wear their beliefs loud and proud and it's so refreshing to encounter. Highly recommend for the vibes, coffee, and matcha! read more

After eating at The Coronado next door, we moseyed on over to Dark Hall Coffee, which is a plant based coffee shop. It was very popular and we had to wait in line a bit to place our order. Inside is dark and moody, as its name suggests. There is seating outside in the front, some seating inside by the register, and additional outside seating in the back. We opted to sit outside in the back considering it was a nice day and the seating is more spaced out. They have your standard coffee drinks, along with a seasonal menu. Their winter menu included the following lattes: gingerbread, pannettone, and chocolate covered orange. I got the pannettone and it came with a skewer of some dried fruits. The drink was delicious! They also have some sweet treats and baked goods, but since we just had lunch, we only got drinks. read more

This place was cool! I loved the spooky decor and ambiance. This place is next door to the Coronado, and they share a small parking lot. There was additional parking across the street. Indoor outdoor seating, standard coffee drinks with house made syrups and delicious vegan treats! The people working were polite and offered suggestions. I decided to try one of the skull babies and lemon olive oil blueberry cake. The skull baby was good, but I really enjoyed the lemon blueberry cake and would definitely order that again! I also ordered an iced latte and tried it with the caramel syrup. It was nice, not too sweet and very refreshing. I can't wait to come back! read more

Beautiful space! I absolutely love how it looks, the staff and other customers are also very friendly and great at providing suggestions. I had the brown sugar lemonade and a blueberry lemon olive cake while i was there and grabbed a chocolate chip cookie as a treat for later. The blueberry lemon olive cake was absolute perfection so pretty to look at but also the best olive oil cake I've ever had. Balanced flavor, soft, moist with a little caramelization on the edges was a perfect pick me up. It's later and I have now eaten the most magical chocolate chip cookie I have ever in my entire life gooey, crispy, sweet, salty just all around pure absolute magic. I have not had such perfect baked goods in a very long time, I'll definitely be back. read more

I get why they call it dark hall. You literally walk down a dark hall to get to the register. Pastries were quite delicious, specifically the chocolate chip cookie and Oreo brownie. A fantastic coffee shop whether you're vegan or not! The atmosphere is dark and spooky (perfect for Halloween & fall time) the inside is small and dimly lit but they have plenty of patio seating options both in the front and back of the shop. The staff are also super friendly and kind! Their syrups are all homemade which is a huge plus! We tried La Pepita Dulcita and it was good! I ordered it less sweet but it was still too sweet for me & I couldn't taste the flavor of the coffee enough but I still enjoyed it! Next time I'll ask the barista what they would recommend instead (: For pastries we tried the raspberry crumb which is a MUST order we absolutely loved it! & the blackout skull baby which was really rich and had an almond taste imo Overall, Dark Hall is a superb coffee shop that I would continue to come back to! read more

Taking a little trip to northern Arizona and I always find an opportunity to stop in Phoenix to enjoy some of my favorites locally. Visiting Dark Hall feels like a must, I absolutely love their ability to bake vegan pastries just as a dairy pastry may come. My favorite coffee shop in Arizona! I love the vibe of the whole place- It's dark and cozy. Coffee and treats are off the charts! Their cake and cookies are my favorite! I appreciate that everything is vegan and they don't up charge for oat milk. LOL. I love what they stand for and what they do for the community. I will always be a supporter of this small shop. Vegan coffee shop with an amazing vibe. I love their macarons so much and the coffee is great too.

I stopped by Dark Hall Coffee this weekend for a quick caffeine boost. It's super cute and sleek with a gothic vibe. The customer service was super friendly and along with drinks they have a pastry case all which are plant based! I ordered a caramel black mocha latte with oat milk. I was hoping to get their house blend milk which is an almond coconut blend but sadly they were out. I thought it was neat they offer that and I'll have to stop in again soon to try. I also grabbed 2 macarons for my kids which they loved. It was $16 for a coffee and 2 macarons. The bean blend was soooo smooth and their house made syrups are great! I cannot wait to stop in again soon! Thank you! read more

Dark Hall is one of my favorite spots to go to for a nice morning latte. Their seasonal menu is always so refreshing, but this morning I opted for a cold brew with almond milk and their homemade black mocha syrup! Soooo good! Married in 2004. Separated for 15 years. Then we went and eloped- because apparently, we like plot twists. Naturally, the next step was to have Dark Hall recreate our original wedding cake from 21 years ago. And let me tell you -- they crushed it. It looked exactly like the 2004 version (but thankfully, we've both aged better than fondant). The flavor? Even sweeter the second time around-- though that might just be the taste of redemption. We laughed, we cried, we ate cake like it was 2004 all over again -- only this time with fewer guests and more wrinkles. Huge thanks to the Dark hall team for proving that true love (and buttercream) can survive anything - even a 15-year intermission. read more

I have been wanting to go to this place for a while and I am glad I did! When I arrived, it was not busy, I was quickly greeted, and the place was clean. It's a tight intimate space with great art on the walls. The menu is not overwhelming but there are still plenty of options. I got their cafe de olla special and the dark chocolate banana cake. Both were DELICIOUS! The cake was rich and had the perfect chocolate flavor with an underlying hint of banana. The coffee was warm and not overly sweet. It was the perfect drink and the best coffee I've had from a shop in a long time. I sat for about an hour and enjoyed my items while reading so I got to interact with the staff a bit and they were super cool, down to earth, and had great sense of humor. The energy here is amazing! I stopped by on a Saturday morning for some coffee, and the barista who took my order made my day with his personable nature. I didn't catch his name but shoutout to him for being a genuinely great person! It's clear that this place is a local favorite, as the barista knew many customers by name and their usual orders. The coffee was great! Ordered a lavender latte, and it was delicious. The savory carmalized onion/cheddar cheese quiche was also incredibly tasty. The gothic decor is unique and adds a distinctive charm to the place. I would definitely come back for the ambiance and great coffee. However, if you are looking for speciality coffees, the options are abit limited. Overall this place is perfect if you want to grab a coffee, catch up with frieds, or get some work or reading done. A friend picked this spot to meet for a drink while I was in town and I was so charmed by it. There's a small attached parking lot and a larger one across the street, and I learned they share the space with a restaurant/bar next door. The interior is fairly small, there's a couple of tables and bench seats, but it was more or less occupied during my visit. They have a nice back and front patio, but it had just rained so one patio was closed and it was really too cold to enjoy the front. I did endure it for a bit while I waited for my friend and two seats to open up inside. I'd just left brunch so I had a hot tea and got an Arnold Palmer and sugar cookie to go. The service was great, I thought everything was fairly priced and I enjoyed everything I purchased. I'd love to come back and try their coffee as well as try a meal next door. read more
