Dark Hall Coffee is a solid spot if you're looking for a vegan coffee shop with a distinct vibe. My wife and I stopped by recently and both ordered the vanilla latte; the flavor was decent and well-prepared. The decor is definitely unique and gives the place a cool, moody atmosphere that sets it apart from your average café. While we didn't end up ordering any pastries, they looked quite appetizing in the display case. The service was friendly and efficient, and the location right next to the Coronado is convenient. It's a nice place to grab a drink, though it didn't quite blow us away. Three stars.
I ordered the maroon because they're my favorite. They're super soft and delicious with a little bit of crunch. Then I tried something new I saw which was the red velvet skull cake super moist and flavorful. The chocolate is so delicious and to wash it down. I had a roasted maple banana nut coffee, which wasn't too sweet from the maple and has a hint of banana coming through, but not overpowering and the coffee is just delicious. I ordered without the cold foam.
So the reason why I posted the display case and not my actual order is basically because I got 1-2 of everything in the display case! Everything was so delicious! Some of my favorites were the lemon blueberry olive oil mini pastry, the berry crumble cake and the caramel macaroon. My son enjoyed the blueberry muffin for breakfast and although we were eating breakfast at The Coronado, the owners own both establishments, so we could bring the pastries to our table. I also left my breakfast at The Coronado to go back to Dark Hall because I learned they were going to have cinnamon rolls at 10am, which was in a few minutes! That roll was also amazing! Solid pastries and I can't wait to come back!
I am so glad there is an awesome vegan coffee and bake shop nearby! Everything I have ever gotten there has been delicious! It loses a star because they don't put the prices of their baked goods anywhere to be seen. You have to ask for the prices of the things you are interested in, which is such a bunk system. Knowing the price is part of the decision making process, especially these days. They lose another star because I asked the counter person to tell me the prices of everything in the case and she gave a big sigh and said... "just a minute" and looked super annoyed. It IS annoying to have to tell a customer the prices. Soooo post them! Respect your customers. It's baked goods not health insurance. It shouldn't be a mystery.
This coffee shop is attached to The Coronado restaurant. I stopped into both over the past weekend. I would have given this coffee shop 5 stars probably, if I had ordered a different coffee drink. I ordered off the seasonal menu and I didn't end up liking my drink, it sounded good but the flavors didn't work for me. I had the strawberry fields iced latte with oat milk. Not sure what about it didn't work. However, my guy ordered a lightly sweetened iced matcha latte with oat milk and it was perfect. So, when I go back and order a drink I like better, I'll update from 4 to 5 stars. And sounds like I messed up by not getting anything from the pastry case. Next time!! Dark Hall is a cool, friendly, local vegan coffee shop I'm glad I came in to support.
I thought I'd never been here but realized I had come during the days of Covid - which seemed surreal to me!!This rediscovery came recently as I came with a vegan friend to try since they are vegan friendly and I would never know otherwise because it's so good! The ambiance as you walk in is so cool, dark hipster vibes with really cool music and people just hanging out with laptops or with a person enjoying. The line was long and out the door, and inside tables were pretty packed, but I took myself outside for the patio there and it was great. There is so much seating outside and it's covered with plants and foliage so it's beautiful and you get that nice vitamin D from the sun but it's just what comes in between the leaves of the trees. She had a muffin and a matcha and I enjoyed just sitting with my gf, it was delightful. I'll have to come back to get a true feel for the coffee and baked goods although I have only heard great things.
Wow this coffee spot looks so cute. We came to pick up a vegan cake and did not spect that this coffee show is a cut spot to chill and get your coffee fix. Would definitely come back to try their coffee. The team that work here was amazing also they are very welcoming.

I searched online today to find a place that would be cozy to bring my laptop and book and that that had plenty of space. Dark Hall popped up and I was drawn to the grungy vibes from the pictures. It did not disappointment! There's spacious outside seating all around the building and cozy inside seating. Inside seating is more limited, but it fit the cozy vibe I was going for. The owner was taking orders and he had such welcoming energy while taking his time to recommend some drinks. I tried two. First was the Sparking Garden Lemonade Matcha which was so crisp and refreshing. Loved it. I paired it with their Chocolate Banana Cake, which was so moist, creamy, and of course tasty. Then I wanted to make sure I tried some coffee because the reviews I've seen raved about it. I told the owner I enjoy cinnamon so he suggested a brown sugar cinnamon latte. Delicious!! What is so unique about Dark Hall is they only offer alternative milks and gluten free pastries. I've never seen that before at a coffee shop, but I'm here for it. They wear their beliefs loud and proud and it's so refreshing to encounter. Highly recommend for the vibes, coffee, and matcha!
This place was cool! I loved the spooky decor and ambiance. This place is next door to the Coronado, and they share a small parking lot. There was additional parking across the street. Indoor outdoor seating, standard coffee drinks with house made syrups and delicious vegan treats! The people working were polite and offered suggestions. I decided to try one of the skull babies and lemon olive oil blueberry cake. The skull baby was good, but I really enjoyed the lemon blueberry cake and would definitely order that again! I also ordered an iced latte and tried it with the caramel syrup. It was nice, not too sweet and very refreshing. I can't wait to come back!
Beautiful space! I absolutely love how it looks, the staff and other customers are also very friendly and great at providing suggestions. I had the brown sugar lemonade and a blueberry lemon olive cake while i was there and grabbed a chocolate chip cookie as a treat for later. The blueberry lemon olive cake was absolute perfection so pretty to look at but also the best olive oil cake I've ever had. Balanced flavor, soft, moist with a little caramelization on the edges was a perfect pick me up. It's later and I have now eaten the most magical chocolate chip cookie I have ever in my entire life gooey, crispy, sweet, salty just all around pure absolute magic. I have not had such perfect baked goods in a very long time, I'll definitely be back.

My dad came here to grab coffee while we were having brunch next door at the Coronado, and he also picked up a mini cake for me since it was my birthday! The cake was absolutely delicious and super moist, definitely some of the best vegan cake I've ever had. read more

Went for the first time and met some friends for a coffee date. My iced vanilla latte was perfect and the staff were all really nice. I got a few treats to try too. The pumpkin poptart was amazing and then cookie and scone were just ok. I realize this place is vegan so they use different ingredients, but I spent $30 on a drink and 3 treats. After eating at the Coronado for lunch, I love to stop next door at Dark Hall and get an espresso drink and some desserts to take home. Their drinks are great and their desserts and pastries are some of the best I've ever had. On Father's Day I picked up a box of brownies and my husband and the rest of the family absolutely loved them! Highly recommend! read more
Nice location, loved the decor and space. Pastries were perfect and good size. Coffee was amazing. We had the black eye and black mocha both iced. They were well made. We also had a strawberry galette and raspberry crumb cake. I could eat an entire tray of each. Staff were friendly and welcoming but not overly. read more
So glad I was able to stop here while passing through Phoenix recently! I've been dying to try this place. First of all, let me tell you, the decor lives up to the hype. It's spooky and just amazing. The service was super friendly - 3 baristas said hello to us when we walked in. It seems like such a small gesture, but it doesn't always happen. Our coffees came out quickly and we're delicious - but the real show stopper was the shortbread! I love that Dark Hall is completely plant based and I can order without any anxiety! read more
I think it's hilarious that people are shocked Dark Hall is "dark". Did you not do your research before your visit?! Anyways! I love Dark Hall for their coffee, their pastries and what they stand for. They're one of the best coffee shops in the valley. We had them make the desserts for our small wedding and everyone loved them! The new location is beautiful and we enjoy stopping by. Definitely somewhere to visit! read more

I found this place on Instagram, and I didn't want to end my road trip without stopping here. Such a vibeeee. We got an iced caramel latte and an iced black mocha (DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND ORDER IT-it's delicious). As well as a dark chocolate salted cookie-truly the best cookie I have had in a while! And a raspberry crumble coffee cake. I wish there was a little more raspberry in it, but still really yummy. I will make it a point to come back if I'm in the area again! read more

I absolutely love the decor & name of Dark Hall! Not only the interior design, but also the names of their drinks and desserts. They definitely keep it consistent. I love the goth theme. But, what is it really all about? The delicious desserts and coffee. Tucked away behind the Coronado you will see a cute outdoor patio with a door that takes you to dark hall. If you're lucky enough to try Coronado, make the effort to try the "pop tart", it's from dark hall and it's delicious. Strawberry, so yum! I tried a few of the other desserts, but I will say one thing that will keep me coming back consistently is the cinnamon rolls. I don't want to say I'm a vegan cinnamon roll connoisseur, but I might be. They have a soft gooey cinnamon inside but the thing that sets them apart from the rest is their icing. I don't know how they do it but it tastes like "cream cheese" and it is 100% plant based vegan. That is real pastry chef skills! ^Don't wait too long to go because they do sell out . Wow! Came upon this place on accident a week ago and I couldn't wait to come back. I first had a cortado with oatmilk and it was perfect amount. Today I ordered a honey vanilla oatmilk latte. Staff were so great and informative on recommendation. This is a perfect spot to come and study or meet with friends. read more

When I first walked in the cafe, I was greeted not only by the friendly welcome of the employees but by the glorious coffee aroma. The baristas behind the counter were very friendly and welcoming. The store was clean. I love the gothic/darker aesthetic so I felt right at home. I had the iced matcha tea with oat milk. Tasted just right, not too sweet. I appreciate that they have the unsweetened matcha. The quiche was a little dry but that's not their fault. Definitely coming back. Also dog friendly, so bring your pups! read more

There's something about Dark Hall Coffee that stirs the glutton that lives inside of me so it's only fitting that I ordered the special "Gluttony" iced mocha! Oh but I didn't stop there. I had to go and also get two other of their baked goods that were available that day, a blueberry bar and a cookie to enjoy later in my hotel room. The Gluttony drink is out of this world delicious and the skull cake is dark chocolate and terribly decadent. Really, it's the perfect drink and I'm not sure how long it's available but get there ASAP and order it. All of their baked goods are divine. I was slightly sad they were already out of a few things but hey, when your stuff is this good, it's going to sell out. I love the new large space! As much as I loved Dark Hall before, the tiny space didn't lend itself well to working on your laptop or anything. That has changed with a good amount of indoor tables. They also now have a cute front yard that's nice and shady, along with a side patio that's not shaded however I think I heard that they'll be extending their hours into the dark, dark night. Wow, i love this place. The atmosphere is exactly what I've been searching for. The owner is fantastic with customers, and it's clear he's genuinely passionate about his craft. The coffee is exceptional, and the sweet treats are absolutely irresistible--I tried a cookie that has raspberry and can't wait to come back for more. The music is also great, and the overall ambience is so inviting. If you're considering stopping by, do it--you'll fall in love with this place! read more

I had to stop by my favorite coffee shop in the Valley as I haven't been here since they moved. The new location is gorgeous & so roomy. I must bring my laptop in here one day & hangout. I came in for some yummy pastries & Ofcourse coffee. I had a cinnamon roll which is still so good but it apparently shrunk they were never this small before Lemon cake I've never had before but like everything else there it was yummy. espresso + dark crown tonic you have to wait about 15 minutes for it but so worth the wait so good. The space inside is not as spacious, but there are plenty of seats inside and outside. They also have a parking space in property and right across them. The baristas are all nice and friendly. The drink was great, the pastries were also delicious! read more

I've been wanting to stop by this cafe @darkhallcoffee for a while and was pleased when the girls and I got to visit today. It's so thoughtfully decorated with dark florals and gorgeous pen and ink framed drawings. The entire backsplash wall is tiled in black honeycomb pieces. The summer menu was out and I decided to try the hot Sadako, a latte with Ube and sweetened condensed coconut milk. The girls got iced oat vanilla lattes. My latte had a lovely lilac foam topped with blackened coconut shreds - so pretty! It was delicious. The girls tried and agreed. It wasn't sickly sweet like the syrupy drinks at other cafes. The taste was lovely and subtle and sweet in a good way. There's a little patio at the front entrance showcasing the gorgeous wall mural slightly hidden under creeping fig Ivy, and there is a larger, more casual patio in the back, as well as seating inside on jade green booth seats or blue velvet chairs accented with gold and black. The pastries here look like pieces of art themselves. We need to return for some dessert soon. read more

This place definitely lives up to the hype. The inside has a super cute goth vibe and they have a great patio area too! The employees are super friendly and the service was great and speedy. Everything is plant based and their syrups are made in house which is awesome. They also offer house made cashew milk which I had never tried, but I'd highly recommend. And they have a wide range of pastries and other sweet treats. 12/10 would recommend trying to carrot cake!! I think this is my new favorite coffee shop read more
Great treats savory and sweet amazing coffee, teas and lemonade but the 5 stars comes from the people. It may be a dark hall but the people are as bright as any around. Makes your day having a nice conversation and being scene. Will be back to try more savory and sweet treats! read more
