The coffee snobs I was with were super impressed with the choices of preparation for coffees and teas. It's a very cool vibe inside with a great outside seating when the weather allows. Every bakery item looked and smelled exceptional. The quiche of the day, caramelized onions and sausage, was delicious! You would never know it's vegan! I will be dreaming about the rosemary chocolate chip cookies! The perfect combination of sweet and savory! The service was prompt and friendly. I came here with my mom for the first time here! Delicious! The millionaire shortbread cookie was delicious and so was the blackout cookie! My coffee tasted a little strong but I assume its the coffee beans they use so no big deal. This is also a vegan friendly place which I really like! read more

Love Dark Hall. Have been a fan since they were off of Indian School and 7th Ave, when I used to be able to walk or longboard here. Now they're off 12th St and McDowell, at a larger place with seating. Their prices are high, not gonna lie. You'll spend upwards of $8-9 on a drink. Their coffee is good though and they make all their milks in house. Everything is vegan. All their goodies are delicious. Their cinnamon rolls are the best. read more

Walking into this place smelled absolutely amazing! It's got a unique dark ambiance with a handful of tables inside and many outside in front and back as well. I tried the banana tart which was so tasty with the caramelized crust on top! I just got a regular latte but the flavors are made in house so would definitely be worth trying on a later visit. The barista was talkative and helpful when customers had questions but he was the only one behind the counter so it took awhile to move the line along. read more

We ended up coming here every day during our trip to Phoenix. Everything was delicious. Pastries do sell out so learned quick to get those early. Also throughly enjoyed the Heatwave Horror menu. Loved the theme, unique drinks and the two we tried (Ghostface and Sadeko) were both tasty. Not overly sweet which I appreciated. Staff was also extremely friendly and helpful. I happened to be in the area and wanted to look for a locally owned coffee shop to support during these crazy times. The pictures and reviews on here looked very promising, so I decided to pay them a visit! I really dig how they use plant based products for both their drinks and pastries . As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a very friendly employee . I was quite impressed by their customer service ! I wish I would've gotten this mans name, but all I remember was that he was blonde, played in a band, and was a Leo. We chit chatted about Sacramento, Steve Nash, Beanie Feldstein ( who just so happens to be Jonah Hill's sister ) and the movie " Ladybird". The drink I got was outstanding and so were the cookies . A well deserved 5 stars ! If you happen to be in the Phoenix area, I highly recommend you pay this place a visit . read more

One of the best vegan cafes I've visited in the valley. Their coffee is excellent. Their vibe is impeccable: dark painting, velvet chairs and benches, and all the gothic characteristics. I have had some of the best vegan pastries here! Their scones are so flavorful, and their chocolate banana cake??? Delicious! Staff is super friendly. Order some Halloween treats: a black out cake with red ganache and glass shards for a small wedding ceremony, dozen macarons and 6 black out cookies (and yes, my friends are the epitome of Halloween haha). These treats are going to be an amazing fit with the Halloween decor theme! This newer location seemed much bigger and with additional coffee shop seating inside and out. It was supposed to be just a pick-up order, but I had to try their nitro cold brew, which was more like a cold brew with no nitro creaminess...still great! Also decided to take a fruit galette to go as well, and that was a little sweeter than I'm willing to admit, but we'll worth it, especially being vegan and dairy free. The woman that rang me up also offered to help me bring my order to my truck. So awesome of her! Thank you for a great experience. Love the vibe of this place. It took me too long to finally make a visit but I'm glad I did! It was pretty busy around noon on a Saturday, but not too crowded. Staff were friendly and working hard. I tried a small iced black mocha with oat milk. I thought it was very good, I liked the flavor and I enjoyed the oat milk - it was the first time I had tried it with my coffee. I have been dying to try dark hall and came today before a delicious breakfast next door at the Coronado! My sister got a blackberry jasmine tea and I got a golden mylk with oat milk. I love that everything is vegan. We were definitely eyeing the cake slices, but got a hibiscus shortbread cookie to share. Yum! Loved the decor in here too and the art outside. Super cute coffee house! They have their own small lot in the back. I got an iced cardamom rose latte and it was really good! They have plant based only milks so I opted for oat milk. They were making fresh pastries in the morning, so the entire shop smelled amazing. I got a freshly baked black pepper scone which was so good and paired well with my iced latte. Stopped by Dark Hall as part of the Wanderlust Coffee Tour and I was not disappointed. I had been to the previous location which felt incredibly small but this new location is HUGE! So much seating (indoor and outdoor) and so beautifully decorated. I loved the small details of the skeletons and disco balls and pictured in my review. I think they did a great job of theming this place it's extremely cohesive and a fun vibe. I want to come back and try some of their other drinks and food. I just got an iced americano which was delicious. They had lots of fancy looking vegan drinks which I'll have to try next time :) I love to support vegan businesses and it's very easy to support Dark Hall as their coffee is DELICIOUS! Visited Dark Hall Coffee during my trip to AZ! I went twice during my weekend stay. I was able to walk since the hotel was so close. I ordered an Oat Milk Latte w/Vanilla and it was delicious and yes I ordered the same drink during both of my visits. Dark Hall is very...dark, but the customer service is perfection so that makes it bright. I wish I could remember the names of the staff because both young ladies were so kind! Highly recommend it, if I ever find myself back in AZ I will make a stop at this coffee shop. There's a cool mural on the side of the building and there are a few tables outside. Everything I got from Dark Hall was great! They change their baked goods Almost every single day so I recommend checking their Instagram to see what they have today! I had been told that if I ordered online early they would save me the items I ordered but when I got to the shop they had not saved me anything. So I was missing some items which was very sad because I woke up pretty early (like before they opened which is 6am ) to wait till they opened the online ordering to order specifically for that reason. The items I got were their Chocolate Chunk+Sea Salt Cookie, Cayenne+Cherry+Cinnamon Cookie, Cherry Shortbread, Rose Crystals+Pistachio Shortbread, Lemon Cake w/ Almond Buttercream & Toasted Almonds, Carrot Cake. We have been coming to Dark Hall for years, back when it was a tiny wittle shop on 7th Ave. Now it's conveniently located only a 15 minute walk from our house so it's a staple of ours, as they have amazing vegan pastries, cakes & cookies, along with savory scones that are to die for. Their weekend offering of cinnamon rolls should not be missed, either. They go FAST! Their coffee is mostly no frills, but in the best way possible. You have a few flavors you can choose from, I usually get an iced black mocha as it can do no wrong, the coffee is good! The ambiance is cute & gothy. Not at all offensive or scary like someone recently commented. It's harmless & fun. It's an open & inclusive space that is safe for everyone. Some of the staff still wear masks & while that might not be important to everyone, it's still important to me, as an immuno-compromised individual. They also now have a nice back patio for outdoor seating in the sunshine. We love Dark Hall & are blessed to have it so close to us now. We are spoiled! read more

I thought we had visited all the coffeeshops in our neck of the woods, so imagine my happy surprise when a friend told us about Dark Hall. Apparently they recently moved locations, so I can't speak to their old place, but their new one has plenty of parking, shady outdoor and indoor seating, and is tucked away behind its also vegan neighbor, The Coronado (follow the sign, we got lost lol). The indoor seating is a *little* cramped on a busy day but once you find your niche, there are plenty of thoughtful outlets. As their name implies, Dark Hall really leans into their moody ambience. Drinks include a Pentagram coffee and rather than the typical Norah Jones-esque playlists that has come to define coffeeshop vibes, the speakers unapologetically play metal music. You'd think it would distract from studying/working, but it actually helps me focus. Maybe it's because it reflects the turmoil and stress from within...hmm. The food and drinks! Vegan pastries everywhere: we tried the raspberry crumble (very tasty, not too sweet) and the lemon-almond cake (generous portion, moist). My partner was excited to find an Espresso-Tonic on their menu ("it's exactly what I wanted!") and I tried a latte with their house almond coconut milk blend. I would say their latte was very coffee forward - a sign that they are proud of their specialty coffee - with no extra sweetener that I could tell. I appreciated it as I'm not a fan of sugar laden lattes and prefer to adjust to my own level of sweetness. Overall, a solid choice in the neighborhood for great coffee that people from all walks of life, metalheads or not, would enjoy! read more

This was my first time visiting. The pastries were delicious. The vanilla oat latte was delicious. I love that they are all vegan!!! Yay! The service was excellent. I wish there was more seating. There were 4 of us and no room inside so we had to sit outside on a frigid morning. This place also does not have any restrooms which is a bummer. We drove 40 miles to get here and had to walk to Starbucks to use their restroom. The items are similar to their sister location the Coronado so I think in the future I would just go there instead. read more

With their location, friendly staff, and quality food and drinks, it's no surprise that they always have people there. Yay for tasty coffee and baked treats! This coffee shop is located in a plaza with plenty of parking, and there is a small foldable sign on the street to bring your attention to where the shop is. The coffee itself is pretty good -- I'm a big fan of their dark mocha latte, which has a nice bittersweet, smooth flavor. If you love dark chocolate like I do, it's a great find! The pastries look very picture-esque and you usually can find their daily selections by checking their Instagram story in the morning. Hits: the shortbreads are small but usually quite tasty! I've tried the matcha vanilla shortbread, and it was super cute, crumbly, and tasty. I also like their blackout cookies, as they satisfy my chocolate craving and are super chewy. I love their blackout cake for being moist and not too sweet, but the frosting can be tooth-achingly sweet if you're not as into that. Misses: chocolate sea salt cookies. I wanted to like these, as the chewy texture is very on point, but the sea salt is practically doused on the cookie. The distribution of the chocolate is also kind of strange, as it is located centrally in the cookie, so it's not like a traditional chocolate chip where you get a mouthful of chocolate with every bite. I wouldn't recommend this one, as it's way too salty to eat. If you get there later in the day, like around 1PM, they might sell out of most of their flavors and some of the drinks (such as matcha and some other flavors). This shop is mostly a grab and go place, so it's not exactly a place to sit down and study/work. There is a table and some bar seating indoors as well as a couple tables outside, but note that there is no wifi currently for visitors (I'm not sure if/when they'll reintroduce this). Most of the time they also have music playing in the shop, which is nice ambiance but can be loud if you need to focus on work. In any case, love coming here for the dark chocolate mocha and trying out interesting pastries! read more
