Dark Hall Coffee is a solid spot if you're looking for a vegan coffee shop with a distinct vibe. My wife and I stopped by recently and both ordered the vanilla latte; the flavor was decent and well-prepared. The decor is definitely unique and gives the place a cool, moody atmosphere that sets it apart from your average café. While we didn't end up ordering any pastries, they looked quite appetizing in the display case. The service was friendly and efficient, and the location right next to the Coronado is convenient. It's a nice place to grab a drink, though it didn't quite blow us away. Three stars.
I ordered the maroon because they're my favorite. They're super soft and delicious with a little bit of crunch. Then I tried something new I saw which was the red velvet skull cake super moist and flavorful. The chocolate is so delicious and to wash it down. I had a roasted maple banana nut coffee, which wasn't too sweet from the maple and has a hint of banana coming through, but not overpowering and the coffee is just delicious. I ordered without the cold foam.
So the reason why I posted the display case and not my actual order is basically because I got 1-2 of everything in the display case! Everything was so delicious! Some of my favorites were the lemon blueberry olive oil mini pastry, the berry crumble cake and the caramel macaroon. My son enjoyed the blueberry muffin for breakfast and although we were eating breakfast at The Coronado, the owners own both establishments, so we could bring the pastries to our table. I also left my breakfast at The Coronado to go back to Dark Hall because I learned they were going to have cinnamon rolls at 10am, which was in a few minutes! That roll was also amazing! Solid pastries and I can't wait to come back!
I am so glad there is an awesome vegan coffee and bake shop nearby! Everything I have ever gotten there has been delicious! It loses a star because they don't put the prices of their baked goods anywhere to be seen. You have to ask for the prices of the things you are interested in, which is such a bunk system. Knowing the price is part of the decision making process, especially these days. They lose another star because I asked the counter person to tell me the prices of everything in the case and she gave a big sigh and said... "just a minute" and looked super annoyed. It IS annoying to have to tell a customer the prices. Soooo post them! Respect your customers. It's baked goods not health insurance. It shouldn't be a mystery.
This coffee shop is attached to The Coronado restaurant. I stopped into both over the past weekend. I would have given this coffee shop 5 stars probably, if I had ordered a different coffee drink. I ordered off the seasonal menu and I didn't end up liking my drink, it sounded good but the flavors didn't work for me. I had the strawberry fields iced latte with oat milk. Not sure what about it didn't work. However, my guy ordered a lightly sweetened iced matcha latte with oat milk and it was perfect. So, when I go back and order a drink I like better, I'll update from 4 to 5 stars. And sounds like I messed up by not getting anything from the pastry case. Next time!! Dark Hall is a cool, friendly, local vegan coffee shop I'm glad I came in to support.
I thought I'd never been here but realized I had come during the days of Covid - which seemed surreal to me!!This rediscovery came recently as I came with a vegan friend to try since they are vegan friendly and I would never know otherwise because it's so good! The ambiance as you walk in is so cool, dark hipster vibes with really cool music and people just hanging out with laptops or with a person enjoying. The line was long and out the door, and inside tables were pretty packed, but I took myself outside for the patio there and it was great. There is so much seating outside and it's covered with plants and foliage so it's beautiful and you get that nice vitamin D from the sun but it's just what comes in between the leaves of the trees. She had a muffin and a matcha and I enjoyed just sitting with my gf, it was delightful. I'll have to come back to get a true feel for the coffee and baked goods although I have only heard great things.
Wow this coffee spot looks so cute. We came to pick up a vegan cake and did not spect that this coffee show is a cut spot to chill and get your coffee fix. Would definitely come back to try their coffee. The team that work here was amazing also they are very welcoming.

I searched online today to find a place that would be cozy to bring my laptop and book and that that had plenty of space. Dark Hall popped up and I was drawn to the grungy vibes from the pictures. It did not disappointment! There's spacious outside seating all around the building and cozy inside seating. Inside seating is more limited, but it fit the cozy vibe I was going for. The owner was taking orders and he had such welcoming energy while taking his time to recommend some drinks. I tried two. First was the Sparking Garden Lemonade Matcha which was so crisp and refreshing. Loved it. I paired it with their Chocolate Banana Cake, which was so moist, creamy, and of course tasty. Then I wanted to make sure I tried some coffee because the reviews I've seen raved about it. I told the owner I enjoy cinnamon so he suggested a brown sugar cinnamon latte. Delicious!! What is so unique about Dark Hall is they only offer alternative milks and gluten free pastries. I've never seen that before at a coffee shop, but I'm here for it. They wear their beliefs loud and proud and it's so refreshing to encounter. Highly recommend for the vibes, coffee, and matcha!
This place was cool! I loved the spooky decor and ambiance. This place is next door to the Coronado, and they share a small parking lot. There was additional parking across the street. Indoor outdoor seating, standard coffee drinks with house made syrups and delicious vegan treats! The people working were polite and offered suggestions. I decided to try one of the skull babies and lemon olive oil blueberry cake. The skull baby was good, but I really enjoyed the lemon blueberry cake and would definitely order that again! I also ordered an iced latte and tried it with the caramel syrup. It was nice, not too sweet and very refreshing. I can't wait to come back!
Beautiful space! I absolutely love how it looks, the staff and other customers are also very friendly and great at providing suggestions. I had the brown sugar lemonade and a blueberry lemon olive cake while i was there and grabbed a chocolate chip cookie as a treat for later. The blueberry lemon olive cake was absolute perfection so pretty to look at but also the best olive oil cake I've ever had. Balanced flavor, soft, moist with a little caramelization on the edges was a perfect pick me up. It's later and I have now eaten the most magical chocolate chip cookie I have ever in my entire life gooey, crispy, sweet, salty just all around pure absolute magic. I have not had such perfect baked goods in a very long time, I'll definitely be back.
What a neat little place! The coffee is good, I didn't have any of the pastries but they looked delicious (also, everything is vegan) and the decor is delightfully goth. It's right around the corner from the Coronado, a great place for a meal that you can now combine with good coffee. Friendly barristas and not too crowded when I stopped by just after lunch on a Friday. Fantastic decor and atmosphere, too! read more

this was our first time visiting them at their new location but not our first time supporting dark hall. The vibe here is incredible. Love whoever came up with the design and choice of decor. Service was pretty straight forward. Staff were a little rushed because it was busy. For drinks we ordered a black mocha and their chai. The black mocha to me had NO flavor at all besides bitterness from the coco powder and milk unfortunately it was a super busy day so I didn't bother asking for a new one but it was so bad i dumped it. The chai stood out as a clear winner. It was flavorful with a touch of sweetness. I liked it and I would come back but maybe next time stick with the chai and make it dirty so I can get a caffeine hit. xx read more

Walking into this place smelled absolutely amazing! It's got a unique dark ambiance with a handful of tables inside and many outside in front and back as well. I tried the banana tart which was so tasty with the caramelized crust on top! I just got a regular latte but the flavors are made in house so would definitely be worth trying on a later visit. The barista was talkative and helpful when customers had questions but he was the only one behind the counter so it took awhile to move the line along. read more

I came here with my mom for the first time here! Delicious! The millionaire shortbread cookie was delicious and so was the blackout cookie! My coffee tasted a little strong but I assume its the coffee beans they use so no big deal. This is also a vegan friendly place which I really like! read more

One of the best vegan cafes I've visited in the valley. Their coffee is excellent. Their vibe is impeccable: dark painting, velvet chairs and benches, and all the gothic characteristics. I have had some of the best vegan pastries here! Their scones are so flavorful, and their chocolate banana cake??? Delicious! Staff is super friendly. Highly recommend for those with and without dietary restrictions. read more

I have been dying to try dark hall and came today before a delicious breakfast next door at the Coronado! My sister got a blackberry jasmine tea and I got a golden mylk with oat milk. I love that everything is vegan. We were definitely eyeing the cake slices, but got a hibiscus shortbread cookie to share. Yum! Loved the decor in here too and the art outside. They have a cute little patio area. Our drinks were good too. read more
Visited Dark Hall Coffee during my trip to AZ! I went twice during my weekend stay. I was able to walk since the hotel was so close. I ordered an Oat Milk Latte w/Vanilla and it was delicious and yes I ordered the same drink during both of my visits. Dark Hall is very...dark, but the customer service is perfection so that makes it bright. I wish I could remember the names of the staff because both young ladies were so kind! Highly recommend it, if I ever find myself back in AZ I will make a stop at this coffee shop. There's a cool mural on the side of the building and there are a few tables outside. Everything I got from Dark Hall was great! They change their baked goods Almost every single day so I recommend checking their Instagram to see what they have today! I had been told that if I ordered online early they would save me the items I ordered but when I got to the shop they had not saved me anything. So I was missing some items which was very sad because I woke up pretty early (like before they opened which is 6am ) to wait till they opened the online ordering to order specifically for that reason. The items I got were their Chocolate Chunk+Sea Salt Cookie, Cayenne+Cherry+Cinnamon Cookie, Cherry Shortbread, Rose Crystals+Pistachio Shortbread, Lemon Cake w/ Almond Buttercream & Toasted Almonds, Carrot Cake. My favorite was there a chocolate chip cookie and the little shortbread cookies! read more
Super cute coffee house! They have their own small lot in the back. I got an iced cardamom rose latte and it was really good! They have plant based only milks so I opted for oat milk. They were making fresh pastries in the morning, so the entire shop smelled amazing. I got a freshly baked black pepper scone which was so good and paired well with my iced latte. Stopped by Dark Hall as part of the Wanderlust Coffee Tour and I was not disappointed. I had been to the previous location which felt incredibly small but this new location is HUGE! So much seating (indoor and outdoor) and so beautifully decorated. I loved the small details of the skeletons and disco balls and pictured in my review. I think they did a great job of theming this place it's extremely cohesive and a fun vibe. I want to come back and try some of their other drinks and food. I just got an iced americano which was delicious. They had lots of fancy looking vegan drinks which I'll have to try next time :) I love to support vegan businesses and it's very easy to support Dark Hall as their coffee is DELICIOUS! I'll be coming back soon. And getting more merch because it's soooo cute read more

Small cafe, not much of a culture or much space, just a few tables outside. The service was kind of off the day I went. I felt like I was bothering them with my questions and order. I got a latte, and it was pretty good and smooth, but it had a sandy flavor that I did not enjoy. It was better than, say, a standard Starbucks latte, but I don't think it was worth the high price. I feel like their strength is their vegan pastries, which I will return for! read more

We've been walking to Dark Hall since they've reopened in the Coronado Neighborhood. The service is always friendly and the Lavender Oatmilk Latte is FIRE. Their baked goods are insane and shareable. All food and drink options are vegan, and some are gluten-free as well. You won't be disappointed! read more
I thought we had visited all the coffeeshops in our neck of the woods, so imagine my happy surprise when a friend told us about Dark Hall. Apparently they recently moved locations, so I can't speak to their old place, but their new one has plenty of parking, shady outdoor and indoor seating, and is tucked away behind its also vegan neighbor, The Coronado (follow the sign, we got lost lol). The indoor seating is a *little* cramped on a busy day but once you find your niche, there are plenty of thoughtful outlets. As their name implies, Dark Hall really leans into their moody ambience. Drinks include a Pentagram coffee and rather than the typical Norah Jones-esque playlists that has come to define coffeeshop vibes, the speakers unapologetically play metal music. You'd think it would distract from studying/working, but it actually helps me focus. Maybe it's because it reflects the turmoil and stress from within...hmm. The food and drinks! Vegan pastries everywhere: we tried the raspberry crumble (very tasty, not too sweet) and the lemon-almond cake (generous portion, moist). My partner was excited to find an Espresso-Tonic on their menu ("it's exactly what I wanted!") and I tried a latte with their house almond coconut milk blend. I would say their latte was very coffee forward - a sign that they are proud of their specialty coffee - with no extra sweetener that I could tell. I appreciated it as I'm not a fan of sugar laden lattes and prefer to adjust to my own level of sweetness. Overall, a solid choice in the neighborhood for great coffee that people from all walks of life, metalheads or not, would enjoy! read more

This was my first time visiting. The pastries were delicious. The vanilla oat latte was delicious. I love that they are all vegan!!! Yay! The service was excellent. I wish there was more seating. There were 4 of us and no room inside so we had to sit outside on a frigid morning. This place also does not have any restrooms which is a bummer. We drove 40 miles to get here and had to walk to Starbucks to use their restroom. The items are similar to their sister location the Coronado so I think in the future I would just go there instead. read more

We have been coming to Dark Hall for years, back when it was a tiny wittle shop on 7th Ave. Now it's conveniently located only a 15 minute walk from our house so it's a staple of ours, as they have amazing vegan pastries, cakes & cookies, along with savory scones that are to die for. Their weekend offering of cinnamon rolls should not be missed, either. They go FAST! Their coffee is mostly no frills, but in the best way possible. You have a few flavors you can choose from, I usually get an iced black mocha as it can do no wrong, the coffee is good! The ambiance is cute & gothy. Not at all offensive or scary like someone recently commented. It's harmless & fun. It's an open & inclusive space that is safe for everyone. Some of the staff still wear masks & while that might not be important to everyone, it's still important to me, as an immuno-compromised individual. They also now have a nice back patio for outdoor seating in the sunshine. We love Dark Hall & are blessed to have it so close to us now. We are spoiled! read more

Yay for tasty coffee and baked treats! This coffee shop is located in a plaza with plenty of parking, and there is a small foldable sign on the street to bring your attention to where the shop is. The coffee itself is pretty good -- I'm a big fan of their dark mocha latte, which has a nice bittersweet, smooth flavor. If you love dark chocolate like I do, it's a great find! The pastries look very picture-esque and you usually can find their daily selections by checking their Instagram story in the morning. Hits: the shortbreads are small but usually quite tasty! I've tried the matcha vanilla shortbread, and it was super cute, crumbly, and tasty. I also like their blackout cookies, as they satisfy my chocolate craving and are super chewy. I love their blackout cake for being moist and not too sweet, but the frosting can be tooth-achingly sweet if you're not as into that. Misses: chocolate sea salt cookies. I wanted to like these, as the chewy texture is very on point, but the sea salt is practically doused on the cookie. The distribution of the chocolate is also kind of strange, as it is located centrally in the cookie, so it's not like a traditional chocolate chip where you get a mouthful of chocolate with every bite. I wouldn't recommend this one, as it's way too salty to eat. If you get there later in the day, like around 1PM, they might sell out of most of their flavors and some of the drinks (such as matcha and some other flavors). This shop is mostly a grab and go place, so it's not exactly a place to sit down and study/work. There is a table and some bar seating indoors as well as a couple tables outside, but note that there is no wifi currently for visitors (I'm not sure if/when they'll reintroduce this). Most of the time they also have music playing in the shop, which is nice ambiance but can be loud if you need to focus on work. In any case, love coming here for the dark chocolate mocha and trying out interesting pastries! read more
