This is my 3rd time going, and it's better every time, definitely the best bakery in AZ. I know they get a lot of heat about the price of each of the pastries but it's worth every penny. I love how they collaborate with local businesses and bring unique flavors to their pastries. I normally get their weekend specials which change every weekend. My favorite so far has been this past week which was the guava cheesecake cruffin. As someone with Cuban parents who lived in Miami for years, this tasted like home in the best way. I'm sad it's only a one-time deal; otherwise, I'd be there every weekend to get one, and I'd be as big as a house haha. I simply can't say enough good things about this place, my only complaint was that the first time I went they put my cruffin (not in photo) in a paper bag so all the filling ran out on the paper bag so super messy and it was so hard to eat, I would assume they ran out of boxes that day but they should have mentioned that before I got one otherwise I would have eaten it there. I've been waiting to try a Croissant from this bakery. I went with the Pan de Chocolate and Medialuna. As well as a 6 pack of assorted Macaroons. I love the flavor of the Medialuna (staff favorite) Both croissants were not what I was anticipating when I bit into them. Looking forward to that crispy crunch of layers of pressed dough was a disappointment to my mouth. It was not crunchy. Neither one. Perhaps I came too early and they were yesterday's left overs or a bad day. The Macaroons stole the show!! Passion Fruit was my fav but everyone I had tried was Amazing. Cute little cafe. The first few times we came here about three or four years ago. It was phenomenal. Fabulous service, fabulous pastries, and reasonable wait times. Nice ambience with ample seating. Over the last year, the service and quality have gone downhill. This location is NOT set up to accommodate a rush / long line. The staff asks what you want at the refrigerator case, not giving you time to look at the entire selection available in the cases after that. The eclairs are delicious. The chocolate croissants are good. The almond croissants don't taste like almond at all. The quiches are so so. We got the apricot special and the fluffy apricot topping tasted off to me so I didn't eat the rest of it. All the other things that we've had there are just mediocre and nothing really special to warrant the high prices. The service people at this location need to take a lesson in hospitality and courtesy. They all exude the attitude that they can't be bothered to answer any questions. And they rush you through the line. Every time we come to JL we eat inside and never want our food to be boxed up. However, the default is to just box everything up. When we tell them that we are actually eating inside and would like things warmed up they roll their eyes at us or give us attitude like they couldn't be bothered. The last six times we have been there they have been out of Babka. This is not sold during the week and only on Saturdays and Sundays. They say that it is a specialty item and they sell other specialty items on Fridays, but for some reason, not the babka. And it's not able to be ordered online. After six times of going and not having it available, and with The attitude of the staff working here, we've decided to not come back to this location. I just find a different pastry shop to go to in Phoenix. It's highly overpriced for what you get. Many of the items are overly sweet and are starting to taste mass produced. Also The cloth chair cushions in the corner are absolutely filthy and that whole surrounding area is full of crumbs. I almost took a picture of it when we were in there, but did not. I was looking forward to trying this closer location because I really liked the original Scottsdale location, but unfortunately, my experience here was completely different. This location is much smaller and has far fewer options. The Scottsdale location has an authentic French bakery feel, while this Downtown Phoenix location felt more hipster and lacked the same charm. More importantly, nearly every interaction with the staff made me feel like I was inconveniencing them simply by ordering. The employee who initially helped me looked irritated throughout our interaction. When she couldn't hear me, she sharply said that she "can't hear" me and repeatedly gave me odd, unpleasant looks as though I were saying something unreasonable. I ordered a quiche and flatbread to eat there, along with several pastries to take home. At the Scottsdale location, my pastries had been placed together in one box, so I asked for the same. She appeared annoyed and instead put each item into an individual box, with the croissants in a paper bag. It wasn't what I wanted, but by then I already felt like such a nuisance that I didn't correct her. When I asked for a larger bag to carry everything, she returned with two different sizes and asked which I wanted. I said both, and she again looked irritated by my answer. The cashier was pleasant, but one of our three drinks was made hot even though I clearly ordered them iced. Once again, I felt too uncomfortable to ask for them to be remade. Since the decaf tea was for my three-year-old, I did ask another employee for a cup of ice, and even that simple request seemed to irritate her. As we were leaving, several employees were behind the counter, and I heard one tell the others something like, "Go do something. Clean something. Look busy." The staff generally seemed miserable to be there, and customers could feel that atmosphere. The food didn't make up for the experience. The quiche was good, and the flatbread was decent but nothing special. Both éclairs tasted off, although the coffee one was slightly better than the chocolate. My daughter enjoyed her chocolate croissant, and the chocolate-pistachio croissant was good but overly sweet. The macarons were okay but nothing special. I spent $86 on three drinks, a quiche, a flatbread, two éclairs, two croissants, and three macarons, and I didn't leave satisfied with either the food or the experience. JL Patisserie has an excellent reputation, and the original Scottsdale location lived up to it. This one did not. Between the limited selection, overly hipster atmosphere, inconsistent food, incorrect drinks, and staff who made ordinary requests feel like a burden, I left uncomfortable and disappointed. I told my niece that when I was in town next I really wanted to try this place, I saw the ham &cheese on a TT and was like I want that! I ended up getting quiche Florentine and a raisin pan auix with a vanilla latte. My niece ended up having the ham and cheese so I got alil corner and that was delicious she loved it herself and to drink, she got a matcha, she said the matcha wasn't it. I should have stuck to my original desire, the ham n cheese... What I did get was quiche Florentine and that wasn't very flavorable, the consistency was good, and unfortunately it lacked flavor. Absolutely delicious and so many different pastry options to choose from. They have weekend specials which include a new variety of cruffin or whatever they dream up in their kitchen that week. During the week they have their usual and reliable sandwiches, pastries, and coffees. I have been 3 different times now on the weekend to try new flavors of the cruffin. We have had tiramisu, pots de crème, strawberry matcha, and a few of their staple pastries, and their breakfast sandwich. I could literally spend every weekend here. I discovered this spot on TikTok and knew I had to check it out during my trip to Phoenix, and it definitely lived up to the hype! My aunt, who lives nearby, was surprised to find such a gem so close to her. We sampled several dishes, starting with the Croque Monsieur, which was incredibly large and delicious, with a wonderfully creamy béchamel sauce. I had visited the Scottsdale location a few years ago and had not been back. I saw this cruffin on TikTok and knew I needed to try it since it was limited time. There's plenty of parking at this location and it wasn't super busy yet. Employees were very friendly and efficient. In addition to the strawberry black sesame cruffin we also grabbed a few macarons and a pistachio croissant. Prices are on par with other bakeries. I love this place! My daughter introduced me to it one day as I was leaving the airport, and now I visit every time I fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor. Seating is first come, first served, and tables aren't wiped down between customers, but it's easy to handle yourself--complimentary napkins are provided and they're surprisingly soft and high quality. 10/10, the flavor and layering are absolutely delicious. They do not skimp out on the filling. It is expensive for a pastry, however, it is stuffed to the max with filling and it's so good. You can tell there was a lot of attention to the flavors and detail. Serviced was nice, they have a little water station which is nice. However, I do wish they had a bathroom. They do close early. Since I live much closer to that one, we finally decided to try this location instead and wow, you guys did not disappoint. There were two ladies there when we arrived in the late afternoon; one seemed a bit unenthusiastic about tending to the pastries, but the other, who made my coffee, was incredibly friendly and full of suggestions. The other girl probably had to put on a cheerful face for the grumpy girl lol, but barista made the experience enjoyable. Now, let's talk about the pastries absolutely divine! It's easy to see how the bill can add up quickly here. The coffee was smooth, perfectly balanced not overly sweet and honestly tasted nothing like just oat milk. Alright, then. Good cup and saucer. Amen. Then asked about stirrers. Told to use a plastic spoon. Please tell me if anyone in France would ever stir a real hot coffee in a proper cup and saucer with a plastic utensil. Anyone? Right. Please offer wooden stirrers to guests and bonus points for a real spoon for those of us who don't want a paper cup. It really makes a difference. It would be criminal to use plastic. The Staff They seemed stressed. I don't know why. When I ordered I felt more tension and rushed then a my corner pizza shop in NY. I don't get it. They tried though. Like it feels serious. This bakery has been sitting quietly behind our favorite cannabis dispensary, and we had no idea it was even there! After seeing a viral video about pistachio fraud (), and then Keith Lee, I had to come in and try it for myself--and I'm so glad I did. This place is a refreshing experience of French baking and it absolutely does not disappoint. We tried the strawberry croissant, and I have never had such a thick, substantial croissant before. It was perfectly baked, incredibly delicious, and stuffed with flavorful, airy goodness. Of course, we also had to grab a cinnamon roll. There was a line still inside to order, and we got the collab croissants with Chilte. Chilte is a Mexican restaurant started by a former NFL player turned chef. The collab croissant was a salsa macha de cacao with pork croissant and the chili oil it came with was so fire and had a good amount of heat. Ran into JL Patisserie at the uptown farmers market and boy, am I glad we did. The pistachio croissant was a highlight. Arrived to place an order Friday morning. Walked right in and there was a line of about six people ahead of me. The line moved pretty quickly and I was ordering in about five minutes. The person taking my order was kind and to the point. I didn't see a restroom inside the cafe itself. There were plenty of tables and chairs to sit at both inside and outside of the shop. As the doors are constantly being opened, it was very hot inside of the store. I picked up a ham & cheese croissant, a pistachio croissant, and a maple latte. Delicious? Yes. Worth the hype? I don't think so. I've gone to multiple locations and every time they have hardly anything left. One time it was still fairly early morning. Can't really hold that against them though. They're obviously popular and sell out quick. Coffee is pretty good. Their almond croissant is delicious. Prices are high but not necessarily outrageous. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but if I was in the area of any of the locations I most likely would stop in. read more

01/10/2026 My friend and I had been wanting to go to JL Patisserie for a while now. We were at brunch not too far from this location and decided to go knowing it'd probably be really busy on a Saturday. We got there around 11AM, and the line was so long inside. I don't remember how long we waited, but the line did not move very quickly. The line backed into some tables, so it was a cramped space. As we got closer to the counter, we saw a decent amount of treats left in the glass case, but didn't see a lot of specialty pastries left on the counter. Fortunately, my friend was able to get a pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant), and I got the third to last key lime mojito cruffin! My cruffin was packed in a nice pastry box. The key lime filling was creamy and tart. I love that they change cruffin flavors every weekend. Definitely worth the trip to try their cruffins. I would go early next time to avoid the line and have more pastry options. Parking was tough as well since the lot is shared with other businesses. We were able to park in the dirt lot just west of the plaza. read more

Wow, I love this place. I got the most delicious double chocolate cookie and petit pecan pie. The servers were so sweet and even threw in a free French baguette. What a treat! I can't wait to go back. read more

The best French pastries ever!!!! Crispy buns and croissants, tiramisu, macarons, lemon bars, pistachio cookies, chocolate strawberries and so much more!! A Valentine Day dream!!! We've been fans of JL Patisserie for a while now, but this was our first time stopping in the Phoenix location. The place was practically sold out of everything. That's what we get going the day before Thanksgiving. Also, with all of the social media attention it's no wonder. We did manage to pick up a few things: small pecan and pumpkin pie tarts. As well as, a chocolate eclair and a baguette. All four items were absolutely delicious. And we expected no less considering how much we love their pastries at the other location in Scottsdale. Just bummed out I didn't get any of their delicious cookies. If you go any time soon, anticipate that there's gonna be some crowds from all of social attention (ordering in advance might be a good idea). But it's totally worth the wait and hype. read more
