My sister and I chose Carcara bc we both have celiac and the restaurant week menu was all gluten free. Everything we chose was tasty and filling. I had the soup which was flavorful and spicy, the scallops that had an amazing sauce on them and a delicious sponge cake w mousse. My sister had shrimp ceviche (included 8-9 shrimp), she had to eat w GF crackers instead of tortilla chips bc there is not a dedicated fryer for GF items, she had fall off the bone braised ribs and a delicious polenta. Our cocktails were very good too. We like the new ambiance and the cool tree. They also have a cool bar. Service was also fantastic. Don't forget to get your parking validated. Enjoyed the last night of Restaurant Week at Carcara, loved all the gluten free options! I started with shrimp ceviche, the shrimp were huge, and there were a ton, great flavor! My entree was short ribs over polenta, I scraped the bowl clean! Finished it off with a chocolate dream cake, it was rich and delicious! Our server was great, she swapped chips for crackers because of my allergy, which I appreciated. The restaurant itself is decorated so cool, we sat beneath a lit up tree in the middle. Carcara was a highly anticipated opening for me as it is directly on my downtown walking path. The decor is top notch - Tulum, boho vibes. Bar area and patio are adorable. Great place for a glass of wine. The food unfortunately was mediocre. Bland tasting, and limited menu. At our table we had Scallops, Ribeye, and a Cesar Salad - all comments on the dishes echoed the same sentiment. Cotton candy at the end was a nice treat! Also service was great - the staff was very nice, and multiple checkins from management team. I would return for a cute spot to grab a drink, but would not return for dinner. read more

We had a reservation so we didn't have to wait for a table at all (it was early though so there were plenty of open tables). Unfortunately the service was extremely slow. The appetizers we ordered were served to another table. And one that was seated after us. We finished our first round of drinks and had to flag down a server to order a second. I had the carcara house salad and the bread plate. It was tasty. Very overpriced but still good. The drinks were the best part of the meal. This place is just ok. It's waaaay overpriced. I ate here while attending a conference inside the hotel. The Caeser salad was yummy, but it was overpriced. I paid $6 for a tiny side of pasta salad that just tasted oily. No flavor. The dessert the offered, brown butter cake, was tasty. There was some mishap on Valentine's Day but the manager was able to smooth the situation. He was attentive and made the rest of our dining experience a plus. The salad that came with the pre fix meal was visually unappealing and unconventional. We forgot what they called the salad. It seemed de-constructed on purpose. Mixing fruit and red cabbage /salad was actually genius as well as the vinegarette. It was delicious. My filet was cooked perfectly medium. It was quite flavorful. My husband had the lobster and enjoyed that as well. Dessert presentation was lovely and had just amount of sweetness to accompany my coffee. Although we waited quite a bit for our food, the manager made the rest of our evening pleasant. Caracara (after the Cara-Cara orange) is an orange themed restaurant, with a really great ambiance. My wife and I went there after our wedding day and it was the PERFECT spot. Our server Tyrone was a great sever, and not only recommended stuff we enjoyed, but was just a great conversationalist and has some great info about downtown Phoenix! The manager Tony also checked in several times throughout the meal to make sure everything was perfect (which it was) We started with some cocktails, the devils bridge is very refreshing, sweet while still boozy. Echo Trail was a well made gin cocktail, although it was slightly spicy which was unexpected. The ribeye was good, but the real star of the show was the fork tender short ribs. The plate was polished clean, and although the pork was slightly dry, it was great to mop up the juices and sauce. We finished with some rhubarb strawberry crumble, which came with a !delicious! Vanilla ginger gelato, that my wife could not get enough of. The espresso martini was VERY boozy, perfect if you're not driving. And to top it off, they leave you with this blood-orange? (Guessing here) Cotten candy for the table, which is perfect with a glass of champagne. Overall, it was a beautiful place to eat dinner, and I would highly recommend it for any nice date night or small dinner. The ambience of this restaurant was the true winner. Love the tree and other decor. The server offered the recommendation of the Shrimp and grits which were divine. The slight sweet flavor on the shrimp was perfection. My friends had the short ribs and steak. One was overcooked and the other had a bitter marinade. I definitely had the best meal; although all of the sides were delicious and fresh. Highly recommend the duck confit and goat cheese empanadas as well. Went to brunch on a Saturday. Hosts were not the nicest when taking info to be checked in. Didn't wait long and got sat at a table. Once seated, 20 minutes passed by and no one came to take our order. The table next to us, got there after us and had drinks and their order taken already due to "being in a rush" from what I could hear. They were dressed fairly nice in suites while I was in regular brunch style clothing. After the waiter took their order, he came to ours and apologized as he could see we were irritated. He said he would be right back and continued to take more than 10 minutes. Our order was never taken and we left due to poor customer service. I made a reservation here for my birthday, about 2+1/2 months in advance, the night of everything is going great, we are seated almost immediately and the ambiance is perfect. However, it took our server almost 40 minutes to get our drink order (it was not busy that night, there where several empty tables around us, and we watched our server just stand around and talk to the other staff members while we waited for her to take our order) and unfortunately the service only got worse from there. The food was pretty good, We got the bread plate, I got the filet, and my husband got the prime rib, my husbands steak was cooked perfectly but mine was over cooked by a longggg shot (i ordered it medium, it came out well done) but the flavor was good so we didn't complain. Another almost 2 hours and we finally received our check, and due to the service being subpar, I left a smaller cash tip than I had planned. Around two-ish days later, I get a notification from my bank telling me that my total was updated, my server had added on an 18% gratuity without my permission. I tried for almost 2 +1/2 weeks to get ahold of a manger over the phone, and was constantly put on hold and then hung up on. Finally I get ahold of someone who tells me they are the 'Assistant Manager' and seems to help me out! She tells me that it was a "typo on my servers end" (complete bs, we use the same POS system at my job so I know it's nearly impossible to make a "typo" like that) Another week goes by and still nothing, so I call again, only to find out that they have no idea who that was!! I was finally put in touch with Jeff, the actual restaurant manager who was super great at trying to help, but I am still waiting to see if they will reimburse the 30$ tip my waiter had the gall to put on my card. So long story short, food is ok, ambiance is great, service is awful. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

This place is absolutely gorgeous and the staff are amazing! Our server was so sweet, attentive and patient. The only problem is their food is not good or at least what we got was not. We ordered the pasta, trout, duck empanadas and buffalo cauliflower. The buffalo cauliflower was amazing. The empanadas were fine but not great. But the main dishes were not great at all. The pasta lacked flavor, had an interesting smell to it and just was not good. The trout was only good with the sauce it came with but the rice was horrible. They have delicious cocktails (loved the Devil's Bridge) and a decent wine list (yummy pinot noir), and a straightforward menu. This spot might be better for a happy hour at the gorgeous bar or on the patio by the fireplace. The prices were on the high end and the food was pretty ok. The Harvest Bowl was by far our favorite.
