After a long Saturday night that rolled into an early Sunday morning, I found myself needing a bite to eat after a miserable morning at the casino and Cafe McBryde has great reviews and was around the corner- The cafe is on a side street and there is ample parking. Unfortunately there are only 3 tables set up outdoors so unless you're ok with waiting, takeout it is. Our server was a sweet lady, very attentive to our needs. I did ask what McBrydes specialized in and she gave the 2 worst answers you could hear 1) "everything on the menu is good" (highly doubt that realistically) and 2) "Honestly I'm probably the wrong person to ask" (who else do I ask about menu items if not my server?!) I ordered French Toast and cheesy eggs combo and it was perfect. The eggs was fluffy and not dried out, plenty of cheese, just yum. The French Toast was just as good as my fellow helpers have suggested it is. Fluffy and light and perfectly browned on both sides. Great job on the food! It's been several years since my last review and I'm happy to say the cafe survived Covid by offering street side pick up, then a careful check of vaccination cards. The menu has remained pretty much the same but the waffles and pancakes have gone from good to excellent. The blueberry waffles are my favorite but I often for a side of bacon. My daughter and family are visiting from New Zealand and she immediately wanted a McBryde burger. "You can't get these back home," she said with beef and buns in her mouth. My wife is an omelet person (hold the spinach) and tends to enjoy a small bowl of fruit with it. The coffee is always good and you can bring a cup for future use. read more

My husband had Cafe McBride cater a Mother's Day brunch for the women in our family one year. I've personally came in the restaurant to eat. All I can say is food was amazing! Considering it was transported from the restaurant to our house, it still held up the freshness and taste! Soo I think I'd give this a 3 but my parents seemed to like it so bumping it up to a 4. I got the Kylie which was egg whites and apple smoked chicken I think. Food wasn't great, I probably made the same thing from home, and the place was super small which is to no fault of the owner. Hubby has been wanting to go here. So we did a brunch date. I never noticed this place before. He did. It's so cute in here. You can sit outside on s hot day. It's a very simply decor but cute and clean. The service was good. A blonde with a cute rose tattoo on her neck served us. Very nice gal. The food was good. I kept it simple. I ordered eggs, sausages, home fried potatoes and a banana pancake. Now in my opinion the home fried potatoes could have more flavor. I saw tomatoes and looked like some onions in them, that's all. The potatoes weren't soft enough for me. I'm going to suggest bell peppers, garlic and grilled onions sautéed in a lil olive oil. The seasoning was lacking but maybe they want to leave that up to the customer for health reasons? The pork sausages were a little burnt. I got to the pancake and thought it just had banana flavoring. It almost seemed artificially sweet. I personally mash my bananas in the pancake batter when I make banana pancakes. Café McBryde is a "homey" diner with plenty to choose from for breakfast and lunch. Denise and her staff are attentive and know their customers. You can tell they attract a lot of repeat customers who enjoy a hearty meal in a cozy place. Loved their banana pancakes!! Chicken breast sandwich was delicious and full of flavor! This is a great hole-in-the-wall in Richmond. It's a small restaurants, it's clean in the bathroom seems out of place in this restaurant. It's a really nice bathroom. The waitress was really nice and patient as we took our time to decide what we wanted to eat. I can't remember the name of the platter we got, but we both got the largest Breakfast Platter. The food was plentiful and came out in a timely manner. I also ordered the coffee, which I had three cups of. I was completely wired when I left. The food was absolutely delicious. The French toast was great, the pancakes were fresh and hot, the bacon was crisp, in the eggs and hash browns cooked perfectly. A plus for our family is if they have vegan options. We obviously didn't partake in those today, but definitely in the future. This was our first time here and we will definitely become regular. read more

Deniese and her staff are incredible. I wish I could give them more than five stars! I show up 2 to 3 times a week for breakfast sometimes lunch I enjoy their burgers. The patty melt is one of my favorites. Their breakfast are to die for. I am working my way through the omelettes, but the classic breakfast with grits (raised by Southern parents ) are my favorites. I can't honestly admit to ever writing a review, but based off of this experience, I felt it was worth it. After a quick trip to the cleaners, my aunt and I thought it would be a good idea to grab breakfast on the way home. We'd quickly find we were better off sticking to a nice home cooked meal. The service was quick and quite pleasant. However, having spent nearly $40 we were greatly displeased with the presentation of one of the meals (the Denver Omelette), as well as the quality. I ordered the Spicy Turkey Omelette, and half way through parts of the turkey tasted and smelled a bit spoiled. This is a hidden gem. Adorable little (6ish tables) cafe where we got an outstanding breakfast. I got a blueberry waffle and side of sausage. The sausage was so good and so crispy. Other people in the party got banana pancakes, bacon, specialty omelets, pecan pancakes. Everyone was full and happy at the end of breakfast. We got milkshakes to-go which were great value. The owner was working her hardest to keep up with everyone since it was just her running the service with all tables full. It actually didn't take very long for us to get our food. The cafe is a small, but comfortable setting. It's a quaint little cafe that gives a homey feeling but can feel crowded during their busiest hours. I ordered a black coffee and it didn't taste any different from filter coffee so it was alright. The main breakfast plate I had was their Meat and Veggie Omelette. The plate had an assortment of mushrooms and meats along with cooked spinach wrapped in an omelette. I'd say it was a decent meal, but don't expect anything super delicious or special. This was my first time visiting this establishment and I was pleasantly surprised. It is a quaint cafe that offers outdoor seating and is well lit with natural lighting. The service was great. As soon as we walked in the door, one of the waitresses immediately offered us a table and we didn't have to wait long for our order to be taken. The waitress was very attentive and stayed on top of refilling my friends coffee without us having to ask. Side note: my friend said that the coffee was "really good". I ordered the Chorizo Scramble with house potatoes and sourdough toast. Everything was sooo good and flavorful. Maybe I was just hungry but the sourdough tasted SO FRESH with the melted butter and strawberry jelly, I had to stop myself from ordering another slice. I think I may make this my new brunch spot. I've been here twice. First time, I really enjoyed it. Today, the food was meh, and when I sent back two semi-warm pancakes for hot ones, the waitress got an attitude. Mind you, I had been sitting for 10 minutes before I ordered. Another couple came in about 5 minutes after me and got their food before me. But whatever. I kindly asked her for hot pancakes. She stared at me blankly for a few seconds. Then, she took my plate while saying something smart. When she brought out the fresh batch of pancakes, she kind of threw the plate and didn't say a word to me. Odd. Now, she's cheery and welcoming to everyone here. Not me though. The bread was a little too thick for my liking but was good. The onion rings were ok but Iv had much better. I like my onion rings breaded different with more crunch. I asked for a side of ranch. Alan and I had a late brunch/lunch here today. It has changed hands since we were last here. We haven't been back, as Alan didn't like it, but he was willing to give it another try once I mentioned that they had blueberry pancakes. And that's what we had, both of us. He had iced coffee and I had English Breakfast tea which is served in a large glass mug w/ a handle, like beer or root beer is served in. It was perfect! The place was fairly busy, though not crowded about 1:15, when we arrived. It was staffed by two friendly women and we felt very much at home. The people who arrived after we did were warmly welcomed too. A cute sign reading, "This is our happy place" hangs on the wall and it feels homey here. It's a place where you seat yourself and the chairs are sturdy and comfortable. The food arrived after a reasonable wait and it was terrific. The sausage looked homemade and tasted great. I got food poison from this place, I feel awful. I don't recommend folks coming here, but if you then come on your own discretion. I ordered the Mcbryde Burger with fries & it upset my stomach a lot. Once new ownership had been in place for a while, I decided to finally try the Cafe as it's the closest breakfast spot of any kind to my home. I was not disappointed. And judging by rhe good-sized crowd, many of my neighbors also like this place. Very pleasant and friendly atmosphere and staff. Fair prices and sizeable portions. Solid java, properly cooked eggs and potatoes and English muffins. The sausage was clearly homemade and tasted excellent, even if a bit of char on the crust, but heck I LOVE BBQ, burnt-ends, blackened catfish, etc., so if that's the way the Chef wants it, I'll reorder with confidence on my next vist. I don't recommend trying to bring more than a four-top, as the space is cozy. There's a fine place on the Dam Road if you have a crowd with you. But if you're a solo diner, a couple or even a threesome (!) this is the place for you for a relaxing, quick, hearty, friendly and hot breakfast. Next I'll need to try lunch. First time but won't be the last. What a friendly and cute environment. We ate in doors. The place is quite small but was very clean. The server was amazing and the food was piping hot and delish. Had no left overs. Ate the plate clean. Had the twin omelet, Leon scramble, hash browns, bagel with cream cheese, sourdough toast and a waffle. No complaints. Just all smiles when we left. We went there for the first time today for breakfast before going to the A's game. What a wonderful start to our day! The place is clean and inviting. There was one lady, 3 young girls and a gentleman in the kitchen. They worked together efficiently and quietly. Everyone was very pleasant. And the food was excellent! Very fresh ingredients. I had the Crab Avocado Toast and my husband had the Meat Lover's Omelet. Both dishes were delicious and the portions were generous. Coffee was hot and good. The menu is impressive with lots to choose from. They have daily specials as well as a "Secret Menu." It is small but did not feel crowded.
