We had a reservation of 7 for Sunday brunch and were automatically charged the 20% gratuity which we didn't mind paying if the service was up to par but it wasn't. We never got checked on to see if we needed something else after food was delivered and none of our waters were refilled. After we finished eating we still waited about 15min until our server came by and after we asked for the bill he was quick to provide it. There is also a 3% credit card surcharge. The potatoes and beans were missing salt or seasoning, but besides the other food was solid. The huevos rancheros had a different take on them than your average because they were drowned in a salsa but they were good. The carnitas in the Abuelita's Plato were golden to perfection and paired well with the pickled red onion and pico. Rice was fluffy and had good taste with the added carrot pieces. Waffles and pancakes were also a good option for those with a sweet tooth. The restaurant itself is cozy with some outside seating. Family friendly. I did give this no stars! Idk if the place was short staffed or the servers didn't like my family. Arrived & put my name down to be seated. Another family arrived no reservation got seated after us. We got sat outside, and it was cold. Server took so long to take drink orders and to take our order. While everyone else outside was being checked on & having there orders come out at a decent time. By the time we ordered and received our order we never Were offered chips /salsa. Our food was beyond lukewarm. They forgot my child's main dish. They rushed an order of grilled chicken & and it tasted nasty. You could either taste the chicken juice or it was spoiled chicken. The chicken mole had maybe half a breast of chicken. The entire plate was random chilly pepper/ pickled onion. Along with my fajitas. Chicken was decent but had random veggies. Grilled asparagus/ pickled radish/ the basic onion/ bell pepper. No salad, no Guac, no sour cream. Back to the service- we returned the Chicken only to get $5 off the bill. The server was nice but wasn't attentive, never had came back to check on us. Came here for lunch on a Monday afternoon. I was working in the area and chose this gem. Inside it's beautiful and very lively. The wood slab tables are very nice. On our second visit, the experience was not as positive. When we arrived on a Sunday just before noon, the dining room was almost full. Besides the communal high table, and the outside dining, there was only one table for six inside. The server didn't want to give the table for six to our group of 4, so she made us stand around while she asked the busboy to clear one small table. When we sat down, we realized that the table is really suitable for two, as it was really tight for 4. Since there were no other tables for 4 available, we accepted the arrangement. We were peeved though when later on we saw a family of 4 came in and they gave them the table for six. We looked at the menu and it looked like breakfast items were still in effect. There were no burritos or chile rellenos or mole which we had last time. We ordered the breakfast enchiladas, chilaquiles, a chimichanga, and I requested and got the chile relleno. While the food was enjoyable, the server was not as attentive or friendly as our first visit. No one checked in with us or refill water, until we are ready for the bill. I came here at night. It was cold even though it was summer time. But that's Bay Area. We sat down and ordered and the food was OK. It was fine, but not great. Also, the portions are much smaller and cost more. That's true everywhere but where I usually had food to take home, I finished everything. The people working there were quite nice as usual. And the food came out in a timely fashion. This was good because it's been a while since we've been here. I didn't realize how late it was but as it got closer to their time for closing, the crowd in the dining room dwindled down. There were a couple of to go requests. I'll be back, but it may be a while because I'm not eating out as much, but also, the prices. I came here for happy hour with friends. Great deal on happy hour items. And nice margaritas for $10. We ordered empanadas, tacos, and ceviche and everything tasted wonderful. I like that each empanada was a different flavor, something for everyone. The ceviche had a lot of avocado and veggies, and it tasted fresh. I will be back! I have come to Mi Casa Grill before for brunch, but this was my first time coming for Happy Hour. Whatever meal you are having, the food is still delicious and the staff was attentive. Our server Chevo was running around but got everyone's order correct. The food came out hot and beautifully presented. While not a big place, they were able to accommodate a party of 10 (with reservations). You can really feel how hard this small family business is working to make your food experience pleasant. I would post a picture of the food if I could. All the tables around me had food and we sat there with a glasses of water and menus. Literally. Tables of people came and left, and we decided to leave once the patrons who walked in about 15 minutes after us, sat down and within 5 minutes or so had their order taken. Stopped by on the way back from the bay to Sacramento. I was surprised how busy they were on a Monday around noon! We wanted to sit outside with our dog, and the patio was completely full. So we waited about 15 minutes to be seated. The inside was clean and aesthetically pleasing but everyone wanted to be outside enjoying the patio and the weather! The servers were very kind, but unfortunately we felt we waited a very long time to get our food, water, silverware and the check. By the time we sat down almost everyone eating had left, so I thought we would be served pretty quickly. We asked for a sparkling water and they brought it out within minutes, but we had to ask 5 times for them to bring us some ice water for my boyfriend. It was not pleasant for him to watch me drink my water while he waited about 30 minutes for his water. When we got our appetizer (the giant flauta) they didn't give us any plates or silverware so we had to wait another 5 or so minutes to get our utensils to actually eat. They just seemed unorganized in how they served us. Not sure why, because it was pretty empty while we were eating. The food was actually very delicious! The flauta had some slow cooked pork which we enjoyed thoroughly. We also ordered the esquite (corn with epazote and chunks of cotija cheese), this was soooo good! Definitely for people who like some spice! Next, we ordered quesabirria tacos and some regular tacos- al pastor, and carne asada. The quesabirria tacos were good, although the meat was very fatty. But we really enjoyed their al pastor tacos. They were juicy and flavorful. Overall, we loved their food, and the servers were personable and even offered our dog a water. This is my second time coming here, but to actually dine in. I came here before for a drink, which btw, the drinks look and taste delicious. The place is really nice inside, clean looking and bright. The server was nice and very attentive. We came during the lunch rush. We ordered the nachos with pollo asado, sopes (pollo and al pastor) and an HorchaLatte. The nacho portion was large and filling. We asked for a side of their habanero salsa which was The sopes were cooked perfectly and had all the right flavors. The Horchatta Latte was delicious, it's really the Horchatta. We were a large group, and we understand that can be challenging, so we had no problem leaving a tip for good service. What was disappointing was that a 20% gratuity was automatically added to our bill, totaling $92. Normally, that wouldn't have been an issue, but given the server's attitude and lack of friendliness, it felt undeserved. This modern Mexican restaurant is completely different from the decades-long Chinese place that was on this site. I don't recognize it and I washed dishes there as a teenager! Everything is bright, colorful and clean. They have a full bar and I ordered a Classic Margarita, spicy, because sometimes I rank Mexican places by their margs. It passed, was tasty and spicy...but one of the smaller margaritas I've ever been served. The guacamole and homemade chips were great and we got spicy salsa as requested. My sister had Tacos de Plata which she liked, and my Baja Fish Tacos were colorful, flavorful and delicious. Not quite what I had in Baja but much better than eating in FL Mexican places! Prices aren't cheap but then were aren't eating street tacos. Service was friendly, prompt and personable. I'm sure it's family run. I couldnt get their attention because they were busy with the tables (there was about 6 tables of people). Another server comes by to ask me if I needed any help and I tell him again I am waiting for my pick up order. 15 minutes pass again and I finally get my order, but guess what? It was wrong. The server did apologize and asked if I would like them to make it again, however I was already waited 25 minutes and that would mean my other food would be cold by the time they fixed my order. I ordered 3 orders of pupusas and it was all wrong with a plate of tacos. I have been here once before and decided to try it again as my friend requested, however, I won't make my way to come back due to the service and how I was treated. read more

I've eaten here at least 6-7 times in the past year. I love their menudo and drinks but I was a little disappointed in the portions I got this time. Barely any tripe and no oregano or chile de arbol. I looked at my pictures I took the last few times and I could really see the difference in portions. I was really disappointed. I really love the flavor of the menudo so I will give it one more try some other day. Hopefully I have a better experience next time because I will be sad if I have to find another place for menudo. Mi Casa Grill brings a bit of a refresh to San Pablo Ave! I appreciate the fun variety of their menu, the vibrant decor, and super cool staff. We've dabbled in the menu here including the chips & guac, pupusas, flautas, Caesar salad, fajitas, burrito, nachos, and the super tacos (which come with a crisp tortilla over a soft tortilla, cheesy inside, choice of protein, and guac/sour cream/pico de gallo). Every dish is pretty solid here and you can feel a strong sense of community, family love, and a passion for what's on your plate which I love. The drink menu is fun, I love the spicy marg. I did notice their cocktail menu expanding and also an expansion to serving brunch. The Tres Leches French Toast and Cubano Benedict sound divine and so do the other marg flavors including strawberry, passionfruit, or raspberry. With competitive pricing, parking, and a million more dishes to try, I'll be coming back soon to enjoy a taste of Mi Casa. read more

TDLR: My brother choked on a large piece of plastic in his meal, and they gave us 50% off the single dish. My family came here for breakfast for Mother's Day. The place is nicely decorated and had about 1 or 2 customers already. 2 dishes came out at the same time while the other 3 came to the table a few minutes later. The food was ok. My parents got the Mi Casa Desayuno. The waitress told my dad they were out of the fruit salad, which was weird, since the place had just opened. I guess they never had fruit in the first place. My brother choked on a large piece of plastic in his Tres Leches French Toast. I told one of the male staff members there was plastic in his dish, and he just said, "Sorry, it was probably the plastic from the bread's packaging," and then walked away. A few minutes later, I saw the waitress and pulled her aside to discreetly tell her there was plastic in my brother's meal. She told me she wanted to see it ( kind of with a tone of 'I don't believe you'), and I brought her over to the dish to show her. She didn't say anything, so I said we would happily pay for the other dishes, but could my brother's meal be comped for the choking hazard? The waitress turned and went to the kitchen, to, I guess, talk to someone about it. The waitress came back out, took the dish away, probably to show whoever was in the kitchen. A while later, she came back out with the check, but did not bother to explain to us what the plan was from there. We did see a 50% markdown on my brother's dish. It was really awkward because the waitress did not have a very pleasant or inviting attitude; she stood there glaring as we reviewed the bill and figured out the payment method. There was a serious lack of communication (not due to a language barrier; we are a Spanish-speaking family) and an unnecessary, blasé and mean demeanor from the waitress on Mother's Day. read more
