A taqueria with great tacos! We were in the neighborhood and we definitely were craving tacos! I was so happy when we walked up, and they had a cool little set up outside and inside. It was small but perfect! All the food coming out with fresh. We ordered tacos and two churros. The tacos we ate at the restaurant and they keep our churros warm under the warmer until we finished eating! The workers were so sweet and nice. Very kind and attentive. Our tacos came out fresh and tasted yummy! I loved every minute. It was a cute little town. We enjoyed Maya taqueria and would definitely eat here again. When we are back in town we will check it out again. Don't miss up this opportunity for some good tacos.

I've been wanting to try this place for a long time and I am so glad I did! This place is located in Point Richmond and has mainly outdoor seating. My chorizo breakfast burrito immediately became a breakfast bowl because of all the stuffing in the burrito. Not a deal breaker! I used my chips to scoop up all the yummy goodness inside the burrito. The burrito had eggs, rice, chorizo, choice of beans, which I chose black beans, avocado and sour cream both of which were extra. No beer or wine here but they have plenty of other selections to choose from. Friendly staff here to take your order. I really enjoyed it here and plan to return.

I come here ever so often and get a surf and turf burrito. I don't really eat a lot of Mexican anymore but this place is good. The service is friendly and I can watch them prepare my food. I used to live in San Diego and go to LA a lot so I'm Particular.lmao

    Salmon burrito

First time here, on my foodie friend's recommendation. She suggested the salmon taco. I asked if they could make a salmon burrito, grilled like a quesadilla, and they said yes! We, 7 of us, sat outside on sidewalk tables, and all enjoyed the deliciousness! My salmon burrito was very yummy! And the staff is very nice! I look forward to coming back again soon!

Simple and delicious. I was introduced to this place when the kind Kelly purchased burritos for the vendors at her market. The burrito consisted of beans, rice, and cheese; that is all. Sounds pretty basic, right? Let me tell you, there was nothing basic about this burrito. There was flavor at first bite from the soft, homemade tortilla. I could taste that the pinto beans had been slow simmered to perfection and the rice was adequately seasoned. I thought if this "basic" burrito tastes this good the other items on the menu have to be fire! So, you know I returned the following week. I got the butternut squash burrito and carnitas burrito. My butternut squash burrito exceeded my expectations even without the sour cream I was told it came with. My mum loved her carnitas burrito, and said the meat was packed with flavor. A must try!

Shrimp Burrito ($12), halved for your viewing pleasure. Pure comfort food;.

Because I'm "that kind of person" I agreed, at Maya Taqueria, to share a Shrimp Burrito ($12) even though I'd have preferred to order something different. But being generous proved to also be educational; the burrito was excellent. Owing less to the shrimp than the combination of the ingredients, this was comfort food at its best and I could easily imagine any other protein substitute (or straight-up veggie) being equally satisfying. Maya Taqueria isn't much more than an attractive, artsy storefront with tables and chairs on the sidewalk out front. The menu is interesting though and the reasonable prices ($2.50 tacos anyone?) were welcome. It's my own prejudice that compels me to remark that I do wish Maya offered chunkier salsa. The burrito featured fresh pico de gallo (good) but hot sauce here comes in squeeze bottles, one for red sauce (hot) and one for green sauce (mild). Both were good but I prefer my salsa thicker, all the better for spooning atop a tortilla chip ($1/basket). Even with the squeeze bottle salsas though, Maya proved to be doing pretty much everything right and I'd be happy to return for the Shrimp Burrito or pretty much any other menu offering. Sitting out front is a mixed bag of entertainment, a little slice of the City here in Richmond. Enjoy your meal and remain alert.

The menu offers a good variety of Mexican inspired dishes, from tacos and birria ramen and burritos. Everything we tried had great flavor and was clearly made fresh. The sauces, seasoning and overall balance of the dishes were definitely the highlight of the meal. We ordered quite a few items including quesabirria, shrimp tacos, a burrito and birria ramen. The shrimp tacos were especially flavorful, topped with a creamy sauce that paired really well with the shrimp. The quesabirria tacos also had that nice crispy texture with the rich birria flavor that people look for. The restaurant itself is clean, organized and well set up, with outdoor seating available which is nice on a sunny day. It has a relaxed vibe where you can sit down with friends and enjoy your food without feeling rushed. The only thing I noticed across several of the dishes was that the portions of meat felt a little light compared to the tortilla or toppings. The flavor is absolutely there, but a slightly more generous portion of meat would make these dishes even better. Overall, solid spot with great flavor and a fun menu. With just a little more generosity on the protein portions, this place could easily be a standout taco spot.

The waiter was too funny , his joking making us laugh out loud. As we cleaned our plates entirely he joked whether we wanted to lick them. We did want to. The food was that good. On a Monday afternoon it wasn't too loud, but the Mexican music added just the right touch to the ambience and our waiter's kind encouragement of a little girl's learning Spanish felt very Mexican. My friend was delighted with her shrimp enchiladas. The vegetables were al dente and of superior quality and taste too. The rice wads fluffy with each grain discreet. The pinto beans tasted great. The chocolate cake was so fresh, rich, and decadent we almost couldn't believe it with chocolate syrup on the plate to deepen the chocolate flavor when several layers of iced cake was dragged through it. The food is not cheap and it tastes superb. Each dish deserves to be savored in its perfection. Even the water served very cold with a lemon wedge tasted extremely good. If you want a special experience of exceptionally good food, with equally exceptional service, go to Agave Azul. It's worth every penny and more.

The place is nicely decorated and had about 1 or 2 customers already. 2 dishes came out at the same time while the other 3 came to the table a few minutes later. The food was ok. My parents got the Mi Casa Desayuno. The waitress told my dad they were out of the fruit salad, which was weird, since the place had just opened. I guess they never had fruit in the first place. My brother choked on a large piece of plastic in his Tres Leches French Toast. I told one of the male staff members there was plastic in his dish, and he just said, "Sorry, it was probably the plastic from the bread's packaging," and then walked away. A few minutes later, I saw the waitress and pulled her aside to discreetly tell her there was plastic in my brother's meal. She told me she wanted to see it ( kind of with a tone of 'I don't believe you'), and I brought her over to the dish to show her. She didn't say anything, so I said we would happily pay for the other dishes, but could my brother's meal be comped for the choking hazard? The waitress turned and went to the kitchen, to, I guess, talk to someone about it. The waitress came back out, took the dish away, probably to show whoever was in the kitchen. A while later, she came back out with the check, but did not bother to explain to us what the plan was from there. We did see a 50% markdown on my brother's dish. It was really awkward because the waitress did not have a very pleasant or inviting attitude; she stood there glaring as we reviewed the bill and figured out the payment method. There was a serious lack of communication (not due to a language barrier; we are a Spanish-speaking family) and an unnecessary, blasé and mean demeanor from the waitress on Mother's Day.
