The carnitas huranche looked like it was 2 lbs. It can easily be two meals and it is probably my husband's favorite food here because it's extremely satisfying. I had a bean and cheese pupusa which is my favorite kind of pupusa here and it was perfectly cooked with tons of cheese and beans. Delicious! read more

Ordered a breakfast burrito on Uber Eats. I typically hate ordering through the apps because they definitely get stingy with the portions. Lidia's did NOT!! So huge, so delicious, so fresh. The icing on the cake was the enhanced flavor from the potatoes with the onions and peppers. So yummy! read more

We ordered a dozen tamales for Xmas Eve based on the wonderful reviews. The quality lived up to the hype! We tried the chicken chili verde and the queso and rajas; both were moist and delicious. The size is generous and the pricing was very fair ( in fact, HALF the price of a popular West Berkeley taqueria). We did miss having any sort of salsa, but that's my fault for not asking if that came along with the order. Although it was hard to get in touch by phone, once I placed the order it was ready, warm, and waiting on Christmas Eve! read more

The chilaquiles are the best! They remind me of the very first I ever tasted at Sanborn's in Mexico City. Atmosphere is definitely Mexican--handwritten signage, paper things on the walls. Thankfully no loud music. It's across Nevin from the Richmond Historical Museum, so check their hours, visit the museum, and eat at Lydia's! read more

We usually get burritos and those have always been great, but last night I ordered the mixed fajitas (shrimp, chicken, steak) and the carne asada was inedible. It was so dry and hard that it might as well have been beef jerky. To make matters worst the fajitas contained a very generous portion of this carne asada that could not be eaten. So after picking all of if it out I was left with a few strips of chicken, a couple of shrimp and lots of onions and peppers. Very disappointing experience compared to other dishes. read more

Que saborrrrrr I had just picked up some new plants from Annie's and had a hankering for a breakfast burrito and after a quick Google search decided I'd give Lidia's a try. It did not disappoint! Everything in the burrito was seasoned perfectly and the green salsa that accompanied it was perfect balanced and enhanced the flavor. The people were pleasant and the food was excellent. It's now a go-to for me when I'm in the area.

The best steak burritos I've had in Richmond i highly recommend you call your Oder in. I have ate here only 3 times but the food and service has been consistent. It's a small mom and pop shop on the corner clean on the inside but looks a lil rough outside are the restaurant looks like a ruff neighborhood but trust me it's worth trying once. I had a simple lunch of pupusas, rice and beans and was very satisfied. A filling lunch that had enough leftover for a second meal! I'm picky about my refried beans and these were delicious and flavorful. The rice was fluffy and tasty. Of course the pupusas were awesome and delicious. There was plenty of filling and cheesy goodness. My friend had a quesadilla lunch and she was very pleased. We went at an off hour during the weekday so it wasn't very crowded. I appreciated that the outer door was open and it was easy to open the inner door. The restaurant was so accessible for my elderly friend and myself who are both disabled. The server was so sweet and attentive without being overly disruptive. The ambiance at the time was quiet and I imagine when full it might get lively. I'm so glad I discovered Lidia's and will definitely return. read more

Stopped by for a breakfast burrito in a neighborhood I don't normally frequent. Although it took a long time to prepare, the burrito was pretty tasty and the food being served at the other tables smelled delicious. Not sure if I would return, but if I'm ever in this area again this would definitely be on my list of places to go. BB read more

We've gotten takeout here twice now, and both times have been heavenly. Their food is so so good, and I miss it even though I just had it! We've had their green huarache twice, once with carnitas another with al pastor; as well as their nachos with al pastor once and steak another time; their menudo; and my boyfriend loves their birria torta as well. Every single thing we've had has been so delicious. I'm having a hard time trying anything else new because I keep going back to those nachos. Their chips are so good - probably some of the best we've had at the Mexican restaurants in the area and definitely why I only like nachos from here! The toppings are generous as well, so I definitely want to try a burrito next time as well! Their menudo is so tasty and full of tripe - it was so worth it! Only complaint is their onions and cilantro come in a sandwich bag and it's so hard to get it out of the bag - I think it'd be easier if it came in a little plastic sauce container like what they put salsa in. Their carnitas is nice and moist, steak has great flavor and texture, and their al pastor is yummy and unique. You can really taste the pineapple in it! Last time my boyfriend had the huarache and when we wanted to order again, he had a hard time trying to pick something new because the huarache is so good! All in all, everything we've tried so far is delicious here and we still need to dine in sometime! We've been calling in our orders and they make it in a timely manner. read more

Absolutely amazing. Food is fantastic. Service is top notch. Yelp led me here and I'm damn glad it did. Carne asada was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Pinto beans were the best I've ever had. Even the rice was fantastic. I ordered the chips and salsa with a side of guacamole as an appetizer. Chips were obviously homemade. Guacamole was textbook perfect. Don't be put off by the neighborhood. This is not a location that you would just stumble on to. Yelp with the help of Google maps will get you here. I found convenient curbside parking right outside the door. Most importantly, staff are complying with covid-19 safety precautions. If you're not vaccinated don't come. read more

If you're really from Richmond the way I am.. You'll have a certain perspective and predisposition on any business at this site. Once known as the landmark la perla that closed due to rent increase it left a hole in many hearts.. On to my review..lol located on the corner of Nevin and fourth street is this new family owned business. A really young kid took my order as I walked in and seemed to be learning but made no mistakes. I got an al pastor burrito which was decent in size but it was under 10 bones so it was very fair priced. Ideal for a lunch break. The sauce here is super watery but what it lacks in thickness it makes up for in flavor lol, it's pretty good. The meat was flavorful and the burrito was overall satisfying. My next time going here I ordered 2 pupusas with pork and cheese. Again, Ideal for a lunch break as they're a decent heft size. Comes with the tomato sauce and cabbage mix which is mandatory. I cant say that it was packed with flavor but it was higher mid grade in my opinion so I wouldn't suggest avoiding your own experience with their pupusas. This is a pretty chill place and conveniently located where I was working by and nowhere else to eat in walking distance. It still hurts to think I walked through that door and didn't get la perlas but the food didn't leave a sour taste in my mouth. Give this joint a try if you're in the area and support small businesses read more

Muy delicioso!!! Lidia's is an out of the way, neighborhood restaurant that is worth the push to go to. Going to Lidia's is like walking into your abuela's kitchen, and having her magically bring you food that tastes like love. The chicken enchiladas are the go to! Seriously, look at the picture. It tastes even better than it looks. The enchilada sauce is unlike anything that I've tried before. It has a light kick of spiciness, and it authenticity comes out in every bite. You'll be offered your choice of green or red sauce. Go for the red!! The generous amount of chicken is in every bite, along with the cheese and shredded lettuce. Seriously one of the best enchiladas that I've tried in a long time. The super burrito is packed with meat, cheese, beans, rice, salsa, and guacamole. You'll want to eat the entire thing. It's fairly large, so pace yourself. The crispy tacos are okay, not spectacular. We ordered them with just grilled chicken and cheese. Tasty, but not spectacular. Lidia's is family owned. Lidia is super sweet, and incredibly welcoming. The restaurant is immaculately clean. Add Lidia's to your out of the way, gotta try spots. This is definitely a neighborhood go to spot. They had a ton of walk-in orders while we were dining in. Thank you Lidia for making us feel at home, and feeding us do well. We WILL be back ! read more

Off the beaten path and located in a residential neighborhood is this hidden gem! Lidia's Restaurant is fantastic and deserves more recognition. My Dad took me here for dinner tonight, where he and his friends found out about it from word of mouth. For dinner, I had a Medium Horchata to drink and one Grilled Chicken Regular Taco. The size of the Horchata comes in either Medium or Large, and I found the Medium to be the perfect amount. The Horchata was creamy and wasn't overpowered with cinnamon--overall a great refreshing balance. My Grilled Chicken Regular Taco was to die for! The taco was loaded with the juiciest and most tender chicken. The salsa, onion, and cilantro that came on it was the perfect ratio! What I thought was wonderful was how the Regular Taco also came with several tortilla chips and salsa. At Lidia's Restaurant it's open seating. Your order will be taken and food will be served by a friendly server and then you pay at the counter. The lady who helped us today was super sweet! She talked to us about the restaurant and how it's important to her that she caters towards everyone's interests. Not only do they offer Mexican food but also Italian, American, and Breakfast items as well! You'll be sure find something that will satisfy everyone's appetite. As a happy customer, I will continue to support this lovely local restaurant and pass on my recommendation to others! read more

Wow! Stopped by after dr. Appt. Got a couple of different things- the huarache verde with carne asada and two queso birria tacos with consomme. Huarache- crisp masa patty filled with refried beans. Topped with your choice of protein(I got carne asada), shredded lettuce, crema and cheese. All served with a slightly spicy green salsa. First time I've ever had huarache and this was crazy good. Carne was chopped small and packed tons of flavor. This was outstanding. Queso birria tacos- Jesus mother and Mary! Loaded tacos, tender af birria, all crisped up in the birria jus. Got a side of consomme for dippin, these were out of this world. I can't wait to go back and get all this again! What a great little find in Richmond. Plenty of street parking read more

We came into Oakland for a funeral and stopped here to get some soup. No luck with the soup, but we tried the huaraches, fish burrito and Birria quesadillas tacos and everything was excellent. Two days later, before getting on the plane, we dropped by again and had another huarache, but this time with pastor. We had the menudo too, and everything was excellent. The people are super nice and treat you like friends and it was nice to see 5-6 señoras working in the back. Next time we fly into Oakland, we we'll definitely stop by again. My husband and I had lunch here today. We learned about the restaurant through another social site which had positive comments so, of course, we had to try it ourselves. We were in for a nice surprise. The exterior of the building has been repainted a happy shade of terra cotta and displays the restaurant name and telephone number. Inside, the walls have also been repainted so everything looks fresh and clean. It is also well decorated for Christmas so the dining room is very festive. We chose a table and were provided menus. Our food server mentioned that the weekend specials (posole, menudo y birria) were also available, as well as tortilla soup. My husband decided on the chilaquiles roja con carne asada, sans rice and beans, and I ordered a medium size tortilla soup and a carnitas taco (regular). We both had coffee for a beverage as it was super cold today. The chilaquiles were delicious. The homemade chips were tossed and lightly coated with a delicious red sauce, then garnished with a generous serving of chopped and well seasoned carne asada, crema and queso. The texture of the dish stayed crunchy down to the last chip. My carnitas taco was also generously filled, the meat was delicious and well seasoned. It came with a small side of chips and a spicy red salsa. I cleared a space in front of me when my soup arrived. The bowl was filled to the brim with tender cubes of chicken, avocado, cilantro, and thin strips of fried corn tortilla. The broth was light and delicious. The addition of freshly squeezed lime gave it just the right amount of citrus flavour to it. The owners, Rosa and Jorge, are very nice. When I asked who Lidia was, Jorge said she was his sister. I didn't quite get the gist of the story, but I do know that the food we had was delicious, well presented and the people working there are super friendly. Notes: easy street parking available, no car parks. Can order to go. They seem to have limited beverage choices and I didn't see anything listed on the menu, but just ask. It also appears they may have champurrado and atole de elote during the Christmas holiday. Am I coming back? You betcha, and definitely looking forward to trying more of their menu! read more

Came here for lunch with coworkers. Two of us have ordered from here before but we were introducing one. I ordered the pupusa plate; 2 pupusas (bean & cheese) w/rice & beans. I love their food and of the more than 3 times I've been, they are consistent. The accompanying cabbage salad is a tad spicy and I forgot to have her omit this time so I'm grateful it comes on the side. The rice & beans are always on point, flavor is a YES and the beautiful lady taking the orders who I always wonder if she's Lidia is always quite pleasant. One coworker got cheese enchiladas which she enjoyed and has ordered before and the coworker trying for the first time ordered 2 chicken/cheese pupusas, shrimp taco and a burrito. No, she didn't eat it all but Hmmm'd when she tasted each item. I asked if she liked it and she said yes, Thank you for introducing me. Overall good lunch date and as stated, the food is always on point. I've never eaten there, but there were about 3-4 tables occupied. This lady is super sweet and it comes out in our food. I will of course return, I want to try her tamales but somewhat nervous because the veggie option is jalapeño & cheese and y'all know I do not do spicy. We'll see but again, I'll be back. I've already turned 3 people on to this spot. Overlook the area and you're in for a good meal. read more

Whoa! Quite possibly one of the best carne asada burritos I've ever had. The meat was cooked to perfection. Ordered the super burrito and it already came with guac, sour cream and cheese, the way it should be. Good size, not overwhelming, but you'll be full. Refried beans were exceptional (you'd be surprised how many places mess this up). Green sauce and chips were great too. Amazing! We're from LA and my dad wanted soup. Showed up on Friday and was sold out. He still wanted to try it out. He ordered birria consomé- which he loved! Homemade tortillas are light and fluffy. The rest of the fam had a fish burrito, birriaqueso tacos, chicken enchiladas and a huarache with green salsa. My kiddo was in heaven with the side of consomé with his tacos, everyone absolutely loved the huarache. My husband didn't say anything while eating his burrito - no need to say more. We were told to come back for soup so we're heading there Sunday AM before we fly back to LA. The food is def made with love! It wasn't packed but we did see a lot of take out orders.
