Friendly staff and convenient location, especially if you're grabbing some gas. The reason for a 4 and not a 5 was the lack of flavor in my order. I ordered the carne asada fries extra meat, but sadly it was lacking flavor. On the upside their tortilla chips and salsa verde are . Their salsa verde had the perfect kick of heat i needed to brighten up my day. Ill probably come back and try something else when in the area, maybe go for their habanero salsa next time as well

Smh unbelieveable. Never again

I bought a burrito and a piece of something was In my food. Wet shredded chicken burrito with a piece of aluminum in it or grill teeth.. This shit was cooked inside my food In my burrito! I almost swallowed this!

Carnitas Burrito Bowl $6.99

Good Mexican food from a Gas Station? I know it all sounds pretty gnarly but I'm saying it, the food from here is pretty bomb and I have zero complaints. Just imagine you go to fill up and you stomach starts to talk back to you because it's just as empty as your vehicle and you get the aroma of "Carne Asada" or "Carnitas" being cooked on the grill and you just can't take it any longer, you have to beat hunger. Well "Yelpire" this place is just the place you need in times like that, or anytime if I'm just saying. So as to save some of the praise for my review, I have to say I'm crazy or.."Loco" for the food they serve up here, let me tell you why.. "El Burrito Loco" Location - Richmond, Ca (Inside of The Hilltop Rd Chevron Gas Station) Food - Burrito Bowl Price - $7.64 (with taxes) El Burrito Loco: I'm in love with "El Burrito Loco" I can get a "Burrito Bowl" on the Low, Low!! Yes, I love the food here and I have to say that whole heartedly. I never thought great food and gas stations went well together aside from "Krispy Krunchy"....that's another review..for now I am utterly impressed this place is "Too Legit" and the food they're serving is all that. Located inside the Hilltop Rd Chevron Gas Station right across the street from the now kinda defunt "Hilltop Mall". This establishment pretty much is a standout in it's own right. With an menu that isn't as intensive as you would see in most stand alone taquerias, the menu is simple, clean and most of what they serve is pretty delicious. This place was a perfect place for lunch especially for me when I worked in the area, and some of various of the nearby businesses. So without going too much further, let me tell you about what I got.. Carnitas Burrito Bowl $6.99 - I decided this day to go with an Carnitas Burrito Bowl, in lew of ditching the flour wrapper of the basic burrito, I wanted to bypass some of the carbs this day. Just like that place named after a "Smoked Dried Pepper" in this bowl you get your Rice, Beans, Onions, Cilantro, Salsa ect. Let me tell you this place does "Carnitas" justice 100%. It's so flavorful and totally compliments every other condiment it's mixed with. It's the star of the show in this burrito bowl for me and as it should be it shined bright. For the price the bowl is a little small, but it's just enought to get you through a work shift and set you up for dinner as this establishment closes at 5 pm. Overall: Even though in a gas station, this place is 100% taqueria and I can't honestly rave enough about it. The food is good, the service is good, it's all good in the hood. Aside from the 5 pm closing time which I think is the only downside about this place, I try and go every chance I get now as I do not work in the area, but when I did, I was there at least 2 times a week to give you an estimate of how much I liked eating here. So yea, I do recommend you try this place out if you happen to be in the area.

Three enchiladas with rice beans for 7.99

I love their enchilada plate. You can put any meat into it like lengue, pastor, carnitas, steak, etc. Their mini tacos are not mini and better deal than their large tacos Tastier than any restaurant or food truck but cheaper. Friendly nice staff. What else can you ask for?

Pork tacos, sooo good!
Linda C.

Who knew a gas station would have the best burritos and tacos? I got the 3 pork tacos for $4.99, my husband got a shredded beef burrito for $6.99. Sooo good! Only 4 stools and a counter to sit at, but I think most people get food to go. The next time we go to Richmond, we'll make a detour to get a great lunch there!

Steak Sandwich, really good make sure you get a Fork and Knife the bread gets soggy from the bottom, makes it hard to grab.

First time here, they got my order wrong I ordered the grilled chicken quesadilla but they gave me steak. The quesadilla was really good a little to oily but very delicious they have my business. I'm new to the area and not many good Mexican taquerias around here, I'm definitely going to be a regular from now on. I recommend..

The menu offers a good variety of Mexican inspired dishes, from tacos and birria ramen and burritos. Everything we tried had great flavor and was clearly made fresh. The sauces, seasoning and overall balance of the dishes were definitely the highlight of the meal. We ordered quite a few items including quesabirria, shrimp tacos, a burrito and birria ramen. The shrimp tacos were especially flavorful, topped with a creamy sauce that paired really well with the shrimp. The quesabirria tacos also had that nice crispy texture with the rich birria flavor that people look for. The restaurant itself is clean, organized and well set up, with outdoor seating available which is nice on a sunny day. It has a relaxed vibe where you can sit down with friends and enjoy your food without feeling rushed. The only thing I noticed across several of the dishes was that the portions of meat felt a little light compared to the tortilla or toppings. The flavor is absolutely there, but a slightly more generous portion of meat would make these dishes even better. Overall, solid spot with great flavor and a fun menu. With just a little more generosity on the protein portions, this place could easily be a standout taco spot.

The waiter was too funny , his joking making us laugh out loud. As we cleaned our plates entirely he joked whether we wanted to lick them. We did want to. The food was that good. On a Monday afternoon it wasn't too loud, but the Mexican music added just the right touch to the ambience and our waiter's kind encouragement of a little girl's learning Spanish felt very Mexican. My friend was delighted with her shrimp enchiladas. The vegetables were al dente and of superior quality and taste too. The rice wads fluffy with each grain discreet. The pinto beans tasted great. The chocolate cake was so fresh, rich, and decadent we almost couldn't believe it with chocolate syrup on the plate to deepen the chocolate flavor when several layers of iced cake was dragged through it. The food is not cheap and it tastes superb. Each dish deserves to be savored in its perfection. Even the water served very cold with a lemon wedge tasted extremely good. If you want a special experience of exceptionally good food, with equally exceptional service, go to Agave Azul. It's worth every penny and more.

Believe me, I've been to MANY other burrito places around and most all of them just give you a beans and rice burrito with a tiny bit of meat. I grabbed a burrito here and ate it inside the movie theater with the red salsa and lemon, and it was so good I ate the entire thing. For context, I'm pretty petite and I usually can't finish a full burrito--but this one? I couldn't stop. It was that good. Super flavorful, satisfying, and just hit the spot in a way I wasn't expecting. At first, I thought it was a little pricey, but once you get the burrito, it makes sense. It's dense, filling, and honestly a big burrito--you're getting your money's worth. I've already been recommending this place to my friends, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for genuinely good food. I'm excited to come back and try more items on the menu. So good. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the East Bay.

The place is nicely decorated and had about 1 or 2 customers already. 2 dishes came out at the same time while the other 3 came to the table a few minutes later. The food was ok. My parents got the Mi Casa Desayuno. The waitress told my dad they were out of the fruit salad, which was weird, since the place had just opened. I guess they never had fruit in the first place. My brother choked on a large piece of plastic in his Tres Leches French Toast. I told one of the male staff members there was plastic in his dish, and he just said, "Sorry, it was probably the plastic from the bread's packaging," and then walked away. A few minutes later, I saw the waitress and pulled her aside to discreetly tell her there was plastic in my brother's meal. She told me she wanted to see it ( kind of with a tone of 'I don't believe you'), and I brought her over to the dish to show her. She didn't say anything, so I said we would happily pay for the other dishes, but could my brother's meal be comped for the choking hazard? The waitress turned and went to the kitchen, to, I guess, talk to someone about it. The waitress came back out, took the dish away, probably to show whoever was in the kitchen. A while later, she came back out with the check, but did not bother to explain to us what the plan was from there. We did see a 50% markdown on my brother's dish. It was really awkward because the waitress did not have a very pleasant or inviting attitude; she stood there glaring as we reviewed the bill and figured out the payment method. There was a serious lack of communication (not due to a language barrier; we are a Spanish-speaking family) and an unnecessary, blasé and mean demeanor from the waitress on Mother's Day.
