They continue to update their menu which is refreshing. There's no longer outdoor seating and the inside gets packed pretty quickly. Service is quick, though. This time we had their chicken burger, mango strawberry pancakes, and a benedict that also came with garlic rice! Everything was delicious and came with huge portions. The pancakes were addicting. They offer a variety of regular breakfast diner food with lots of Filipino inspired dishes as well so it's a win-win for everyone! Check their weekly menu as they may offer different dishes to try!
Was craving Filipino breakfast and found this place. Went on a Sunday afternoon (before close) and the wait wasn't that bad. I decided to order the bistek with sunny side up and garlic rice and it was good! There is vinegar on the side which has chilli and I believe onions in it I would suggest pouring some on the meat to balance the taste or dip it on the side which Filipinos usually eat breakfast silog plates with. Also tried some of the longanisa. Everyone here is friendly and there are also some nice decors around. You will be greeted when entering and exiting. Would definitely be back when I'm in the area since I'm from San Jose.
first time to sue's place for brunch. My friend took me out for brunch here a couple weeks ago for my birthday. There aren't very many cafés that look like this. food here was great! french toast with filipino flair! service was good and ambiance was old school diner!
This place was packed Sunday for brunch. The turnover is quick because the food comes out quickly. The place is a bit small and there's a sign in list right when you walk in. The food was delicious. The brisket was nice and tender, but I would suggest getting it with the garlic rice instead of the potatoes and biscuit.
We wanted to try something different for breakfast from our normal places. This small diner has a cozy retro feel with a friendly staff. I forgot to take a picture of my peach and strawberry french toast but it was delicious. It was a generous portion I also ordered an side of eggs and a ham steak that was needed counter the French toast. My wife ordered the corned beef and hash with a side of eggs which they placed on top. She liked the dish and it also was a generous amount.
This is my 2nd time here. Pleasantly pleased with the food. Excellent taste. Service is quick and speedy. Ambiance is just chill. I will be back to try all yummy foods. I heard its the owners 5th anniversary here this weekend! Congratulations! Thank you for making good food to cure hungry tummies
Found this spot on Yelp and the ube pancakes caught my eye! However once we arrived, they had a list of specials for the day and we decided on the blueberry calamansi instead. The calamansi butter was so delicious and fragrant! There was no shortage of blueberries either. The place is small and cozy, seems like a local staple hole-in-the-wall type of breakfast joint. It's nothing fancy but the food was well-cooked! I'd say my only complaint was the pricing seems a bit off. My adobo pork belly bowl was $20 for two slices of pork belly, while my husband's giant breakfast burrito was $15 and could've easily been two meals worth at that size. Otherwise it was a solid meal, friendly service, and the meals came out QUICK, I'm talking minutes! Which was great since we had driven about an hour and a half so we were ready to eat. Great spot if you want a quick and tasty meal!
Great menu selection. My friend and I opted for the Une pancakes of course and we chose the Bansilog (milkfish with garlic rice, 2 eggs and I loved the pickled vegetables with the salad they served. Food was amazing! The house coffee was unexpectedly perfect. I drink strong coffee and theirs was on point. I of course live the warm Filipino welcome of the staff. Tita Nora was our sweet server and I forgot Tito's first name (busser), he was adorable! Thank you to the chef for making our homemade brunch. I felt nostalgic as this is how my Mom used to serve breakfasts on weekends. Definitely visiting this little gem again. It gets packed so prepare to wait. We were lucky we waited only about 5 minutes as people were leaving. Only street parking, but it's not that bad at all. Located in a quaint downtown area in Pinole. Ambiance is definitely is definitely casual, and it can get loud; but fun! There's also a bar seating if you wish to sit in that area (not pictured).
the service was great and the food was even better. i got the bisteak and it was so fire especially the garlic rice. my only critique was i wish i had more garlic rice because it was that darn good that my girlfriend kept stealing it off my plate lol. another hard hitter that swept me off my feet was the ube pancakes. it was so freaking good that i kept eating piece after piece and rivals all other pancakes and almost takes my number 1 in favorite breakfast items. the pancakes were so fluffy and flavorful and the addition of fresh fruit and light whipped cream just took it to another level. will definitely try something else for a main breakfast dish but definitely definitely will be returning just for that pancake
Went because we saw pictures of ube pancakes (which were delicious). Ordered things off the Saturday specials menu, I got the tilapia, friend got the truffle fried chicken sandwich. All amazing. The restaurant is tiny but cute. And service is quick and efficient. Looking at the menu while waiting for your table can expedite the process.

Ordered for pick up and made it just before they closed thank goodness. The ube pancakes and the ube sauce were delicious and when we opened the box it was one of those feelings of excitement because the food tasted as good as it looked. We will definitely be back to this place. It's a pretty small restaurant and the ambiance seemed more casual. The service over the phone was very nice and they didn't rush me which I appreciate.
This was a lovely discovery! I came home from LA for a weekend to visit family and tried Sue's Place on a Saturday with a friend. The meal was so nice that I decided to bring my mom the next day! A very unassuming quaint space, Sue's Place has friendly service, good prices, and generous portions. The Ube pancakes were a standout and I absolutely love diner hashbrowns. HIGHLY recommended for anyone in the area who wants a warm meal with a warm ambiance. read more

Best breakfast cafe I've found anywhere. Had a special "Star Spangled Pancakes with fresh strawberries, vanilla cream, and blueberries plus a side of bacon and coffee to drink for breakfast today, on July 5th the day after the July 4th holiday yesterday. It was wonderful. There's a nice variety of food selections here and I've enjoyed many. It's often crowded, but accommodates seating at a number of tables as well as the very friendly seating at the counter. Sue's a great cook, very nice, and accommodates some changes to a dish depending on a customer's request. The service is great and prices here are reasonable I'll continue to come here as often as I can. read more

Very few places seem to hit the spot nowadays. I was in the mood for really good Filipino breakfast. And I didn't get good, instead I got great! Adobo Pork Belly Eggs Benny isn't traditional, but it hit so many notes for what a great breakfast dish should hit. Hollandaise was smooth and silky, eggs were runny, and pork belly was crispy and tasty. And it was drizzled with an additional caramel soy glaze that dialed up the umami to another level. Oh and instead of the typical potatoes side, they serve it with garlic fried rice. That was amazing too. Oh and the Ube Coconut pancakes did not disappoint either. Not off puttingly sweet and the Ube and Coconut flavors were noticeable. They also had a Cowboy Steak for 2 that I didn't order and get to try. But another table ordered it and it smelled amazing. May try if available next time. It was listed as Father's Day special. read more

The ube pancakes were described as fluffy, but they were soggy and didn't taste like ube at all. They were also splitting apart, which I've never seen in a pancake before. The French toast was good though. IMO, only the American food part of the menu is good. The Filipino food/Filipino fusion part is a pass for me. But maybe I'm biased because I'm Filipino. The server was not very attentive, and messed up the order. I ordered the French toast, and the server asked if I wanted a 2 piece or a 3 piece. I said three. She came back with 3 orders of French toast. Like ma'am, what do I look like eating 3 orders of French toast? Thankfully, after explaining to her that I ordered 3 pieces and not 3 orders, she said okay and took 2 of the orders back. I felt bad for her. She looked very stressed because she was the only server in the whole restaurant. Having more people on their staff would help them a lot. read more

Don't skip out on this hole in the wall breakfast place. My cousin took me here for breakfast and it was delicious. It is a cute small family owned restaurant. The adobo pork belly, I would say was my favorite. The crispiness and flavor it had really hit the spot. We also just added a side of longanisa and putting those together was a perfect match. We did wish that the Tilapia was a bit more crispier but it was still good. I am more of a savory type of girl when it comes to breakfast, but I have a soft spot for Ube. I am very Filipino and love trying ube flavor things. It believe it was a mochi ube pancake because it was not the traditional pancake with ube flavoring. We got there pretty early at 10am and we got seated right away and did not wait for our food that long. I would say about 10:30, they had their waiting list piling up. I would say there was a good 3 or 4 families waiting. What I loved was that they didn't rush us to leave. I think my cousin's and I were there for maybe an hour and a half or less. A hole in a wall brunch eatery. Service is great and prompt. I had the adobo pork belly 9/10 with over easy eggs and rice. Pork belly was crunchy and so full of flavor with each bite. There's a sauce over the rice and eggs that was pretty good. The Ube Pancakes were a 8/10 Pretty yummy with the ube sauce and the fruits were delicious. Denver omelet was so big I had to help my son eat it all. So scrumptious. I would definitely return. I live about 30mins away from this amazing brunch spot. read more

Quiet literally one of the best breakfasts I've had in a while. The garlic fried rice with the Benedict was simple but such a nice change up from the standard potato or salad option most places give. The UBE PANCAKES HERE THO??? I've tried so many ube pancakes at this point in the bay. The syrup here isn't your standard maple syrup. It's ube infused and so much better! My man enjoyed his brisket and appreciated they considered giving him the hollandaise on the side. He ordered scrambled eggs with cheese and hollandaise atop doesn't sound good either. Bonus point for thinking about that while we didn't. No wait time on a Sunday morning (11AM). It's a small place and I'm afraid IG is gonna blow this place up soon. Love the old school diner vibes. Sat the at counter. Staff were great, really helpful and kind. Order the ube French toast. And it was good! Got a little messy but that's how you know it's good. Always appreciate the fruits with a French toast just because it does get a little heavy and the fruit just lightens it up. Would order again. read more

Sue's Place is a real gem within the Pinole community, and I will never stop singing its praises. I stumbled upon Sue's just maybe a little under a year ago when looking for a breakfast place. Finally decided to try it out, and it was the best food decision I've made in a long time. Sue's is a breakfast and lunch spot, with Filipino inspiration in many of their dishes. Over the last few months, I've gotten things with longanisa, garlic rice, ube, spam, mango... and every single one has been incredible. These dishes are genuinely made with love and passion, and it translates into the food. Additionally, they're always cycling through fun specials. I've yet to have one that isn't amazing. My personal favorite is the longanisa silog, a staple menu item. It comes with longanisa, eggs your way, garlic rice, and pickled veggies. It's a wholesome meal that hits the spot. Additionally, the portions are always huge! You definitely get your money's worth and then some. The service is great. I usually got on a Saturday, and there are usually two women that we see every time. They've begun to recognize us, and it feels nice to be a "regular" at a place where they get to know their customers. I also always hear them calling other regulars by their names and making an effort to speak and check in on them like they're friends. It shows they truly care about the work they do. The inside is small and cozy. They have a counter space to sit at, booths, and some tables. The decor is interesting, in a good way, with mural on the wall that appears to depict a scene from an older time. Very cute! Overall, Sue's is a gift to Pinole and its citizens. One of the best spots not just in Pinole, but all of the Bay Area. read more

3 stars for the food, rounded up to 3.5 for service. Portions were large, and everyone was very friendly. Note the 50 cent charge if paying with credit card. Parking was either on the street or in a small shared lot with police. The cafe was busy on a Friday at 10:30 am, but we were seated immediately. I wanted the corned beef hash, but they just sold out. There was a different pancake special than the one I had my eye on (they change the menu daily). You can check their Facebook for the day's specials. I ended up having some of the silog plates. The food was on the blander side, but not completely lacking in flavor. It didn't leave us feeling heavy, which was nice. - Bistec Silog ($19). The beef and onions were marinated in a sauce that was savory, sour, and slightly sweet. My bf got the two eggs sunny side up. I enjoyed the fluffy texture of the garlic rice. It was lightly salted, not oily, and mild in garlic flavor. - Salmon Silog Daily Special ($20). I liked this one better. The salmon was flaky and had a wonderful crust. It was topped with red onion and fresh cherry tomato. read more

Finally tried the Filipino Ube-Coconut pancakes I've been wanting to try these pancakes for a while now. They're huge! The Ube syrup is really nice touch! I did miss butter on my pancakes though. These pancakes are super good!!! read more

Second time eating breakfast at this mom and pop hole in the wall spot located in downtown Pinole that serves Filipino and American breakfast. Food is always delicious and portions are huge. Friendly staff and fast service. Limited parking but other than that. Highly recommend and will definitely come back again. read more

Sue's Place is a delicious gem in Pinole. A cute diner with delicious food and delightful service. My spouse and I were headed to San Rafael to pick up something and decided to make a full day adventure out of the trip which lead us to finding Sue's Place along the way. We showed up on a Saturday for brunch and we're immediately greeted and seated in a booth by the window. The menu had multiple options we liked but ended up getting items from their specials menu for that Saturday. We ended up getting two orders of the Triple Hog Silog and a order of their Ube Delight French Toast to split. All I can say is, I am happy that I don't live too close else I would be here far too often for my health and wallet. The triple hog silog was bacon, lechon (deep fried pork belly), and longanisa (sweet pork sausage) served with garlic rice, fried eggs and a garnish of sliced tomatoes and pickled onions plus a side of vinegar. This was absolutely delicious. The ube delight french toast was ube dipped French toast with like a sweet/tangy cream cheese spread between the slices, topped with whipped cream, fresh strawberries, and an ube syrup. I could have died and gone to heaven happy eating it with the perfect balance of sweet, acid and fat, which counter balanced the salty silog magnificently. We will be making a trip over again but this time specifically for Sue's Place. read more

Sue's Place is so good! The restaurant has a very homey and cozy vibe. We came here Saturday afternoon and there was a short wait for 2 people, but we got seated within 15 minutes. Here's what we ordered: - Ube pancakes: 10/10 the pancakes were so good and fluffy, yet with a little chew from the ube. The syrup was thick but not too sweet. And there were just the right amount of fruit on it. I've had other Ube pancakes before that were too sweet so this one was perfect. Highly recommend. - pork belly bowl: 10/10. I had a bite. The pork belly was so fatty and sweet and savory. Paired with the rice and egg it was delicious. - bistek silog: 10/10. Garlic rice was so good. There was just the perfect amount of meat. And I liked how there were onions prepared 2 different ways in the plate (pickled and grilled). Yum! Highly recommend Sue's place. Come here for a delicious brunch experience!! read more

I did a Grubhub order yesterday and they didn't have 2 items on their menu. The pancake special and pork chop special. They need to update their menu accordingly if they are going to use that service. The worker lady that called me to tell me they didn't have 2 of the items was a bit rude about it when I told her the app said there was a note that said the restaurant could adjust the price due to the special and she said they couldn't. The special was French toast and not pancakes, but I don't see why they still couldn't just adjust the price, it's still under as a special. They need to take these things off the menu on Grubhub if these don't even exist or if they can't modify the price, like it says. So I said just cancel the order and I'll just order over the phone for pick up. I got the special Ube French toast, Bistek silog (not on Grubhub) and Triple Hog silog. When I got the food at home there was a long piece of hair camouflaged in the syrup of the ube French toast. I threw that out and wasted $17 and didn't want to eat anything else. I was planning to go here with my friends next time, but after that hair in my food and the way over priced silogs $22 and $26. I will not be back and will not recommend this place. I was trying to support this Filipino business, but customer service needs more training and food hygiene is an issue. read more
There are Filipino communities everywhere in the Bay Area, places like Daly City where Filipino eateries are pretty common. I just didn't realize Pinole was one of them until I sauntered into this cafe before taking a walk on the San Pablo Bay Regional Trail. It was already quite busy in here at 11AM as the breakfast crowd was lingering. Yet, I managed to snag a booth. That happened much to the consternation of two passive-aggressive overweight women who clearly had their respective eyes on it. Get over it. Move on. I saw some delectable Ube-Coconut Pancakes and Eggs Benedict pass by me, but I decided to take advantage of their daily specials and ordered the $15 Tortang Talong. It appeared to be a Filipino-style omelette. Fire-roasted eggplant was combined with cherry tomatoes, onion, mushrooms, and spinach into an omelette and served with garlic rice (photo: https://yelp.to/judm0X3ChT). They provided a bottle of banana ketchup which I poured liberally over the eggs. I thought it was a pretty good veggie option for breakfast though the eggs were a little too brown for my taste. Tried the bistek silog and a special omelet that had globe eggplant. Both came with yummy garlic rice. The tenderloin from the bistek was tender and marinated in a tasty sauce. Enjoyed this tiny hole in the wall, but make sure you're prepared to wait for 15-30 to be seated. read more
I have been here twice and have ordered to go multiple times. The Ube pancakes are one of my favorite items in the menu but honestly you can't go wrong. The portions of the food don't change even if you're ordering to go. If you're in the area, you should check out this restaurant. read more
