It's been so long since I've been to Pear Street Bistro, and while in the area recently for a few events, I popped in with some friends on two different occasions. Love seeing this spot so lively! Both visits were for apps and sips, but I did notice they added more dishes and variety to the menu for lunch/dinner options. Friendly service, fun atmosphere, and also different rooms within the space pending what your feeling ~ the bar area for drinks/apps, the restaurant space if wanting to truly sit down and have that type of intimate environment too. The Pear Salad has always been my go-to, and happy it's still on the menu. Chopped lettuce, gorgonzola crumbles, candied walnuts, champagne vinaigrette, and pear slices. I also enjoyed the Cheese Please for sharing, which comes with toast, three different cheeses, dried cranberries, pears, candied walnuts, and olives. Can you sense the pear theme? We were heading to a play at the Pinole Community Playhouse (walkable & across the street), but check out Pear Street's fun happy hours, events, and weekly specials. Came here for the Cinco De Mayo event. We were a party of 9. They had a DJ. The food came out hot and it was delicious. They were no complaints in the area from anyone. One of our party members ordered the Rum Punch. It was overly sweet. Another ordered a drink that was not great at all, sent it back.. only to be told that they do not take back drinks, but made an exception that time. However, if the drink is made wrong or disgusting.. there shouod be understanding around that. We ordered the bottomless Mimosas. It seemed like it was difficult to get a grenadine on the side because I had to constantly ask for it. We had to talk to the manager because our waitress was not consistent with the pouring of bottomless. We lost about 30 to 45 mins of time because of it. The manager understood and granted us more time. I also did not like that fact that our finished plate sat on the table way longer than what they should have. Since my 2020 review, service is still hella slow and some are not friendly. From my couple times here, they started to hold a card on file if you're in the bar area. However, during my recent visit, they didn't ask so maybe it changed again? Or is it because of who I was with? If it's the latter then that's a slippery slope. Anyway, happy hour (HH) is decent, but prices are not very happy hour prices. Only like just $1 or $2 off their regular menu. And they charge for bread and butter service now, it used to be complimentary. I love their cobb salad on HH and that is probably the only reason I still come here. I would not choose to come here for their regular menu, very steep prices for mediocre food. It's cool for the neighborhood. I do wish they had some competition to give us more options. read more

This is a high class place thats not too painful on your pockets. Decor from the entrance to the bathrooms is relevant, unique & clean. They have a bar area as well as white cloth dinning area. The food was amazing. Everything was delicious. I got the chicken and waffles with side of home fried potatoes. Pro tip: if dont eat pork so if you also dont eat pork then make sure you mention that when ordering the waffles. They put bacon in the waffles. read more

Over the years I have been here quite a few times. No complaints. I still stand hand in hand with their risotto, but more recently I've come a few times during happy hour. There are good options for HH, and just yesterday I think my half of tab was only $20. We ordered two drinks and split their sweet potato tots and their HH chicken & waffles. Sex on the Beach - 5/5. You can't go wrong. Soft and peachy flavored. Sweet Potato Tots - 5/5. I was iffy at first, but I'm a believer now. The aioli to go with it is thick and garlicky, too. Chicken & Waffles - 5/5. A waffle is a waffle, but their jalapeño whipped butter?! To die for. The chicken strips were all plenty of flavor without being too crispy or overly salted. I was pleasantly surprised and drizzled mine in honey. Two weeks prior the tab was a taaaad bit higher, but ordering a steak Caesar salad will do that. No complaints. The steak came out medium well as asked, and the salad was large enough to split, so I ordered extra steak on the side. Caesar salad w/ steak - 5/5. Wings - 4/5. Tasty. I'd order again but I won't go bragging about these. They're good though, don't get me wrong. When I find the best wings in the bay though, that'll be the day! Crab cakes - 4/5. Knocked one star off because they are tiny. Is this just a happy hour size? I know that's unlikely but still, for the size my question is valid. Blue Hawaiian - 3/5. This cocktail was just too strong for me. Reminds me of the ever so classic AMF, but maybe it's just the color because it doesn't have the punch that AMF does. Service wise this place has always seated pretty promptly when I've visited, and it's busy enough after 4pm but not crowded. The weekends here are busy - brunch is always going to bring a crowd. In those cases I have been seated quickly, but sometimes we've been seated outside because the inside is so full. Stopped by after an early work day at about 2 or so and grabbed a seat at the bar. There were about 10 other people at the various high tops conversing and eating which was a great, low key atmosphere compared to how it is later with the after dinner crowd. I was offered a menu and given water right away from the bar tender but I knew what I wanted well, partly. I decided on a whim to have a bowl of clam chowder instead of their other offering of chicken tortilla soup since it was Friday lol. IYNYN! I just didn't remember that their clam chowder was so good! Maybe because it was a rainy day? Anyways I slurped my whole bowl down and was ready for what I came there for, the "Greek" which consists of nicely toasted pita triangles, a small bowl of olives and pepperoncini and the star of the dish the house made extravagantly creamy, tart and smooth hummus. It was a perfect meal of which I washed down with a couple of super cold Coronas and lime. My plan worked out flawlessly because I was done with work and was on my home because between the awesome pit stop and afternoon nap I had a great Friday! read more

I was here with my friends to watch a play nearby and since we reached early we decided to have our early dinner at this place. It's a cute little place with friendly staff and quite a warm crowd. We were a group of six people seated and served with menu card and water. We ordered clam chowder soup and quinoa salad but later we cancelled as the soup was very filling. We finished and came back again after our play got over and decided to have some appetizers with fries, cheese sticks, and calamari. This place also allowed us to bring our own wine and the server was nice to serve the wine in the glass that they gave to us. Overall a great experience, but one of the server seems to be new as we had to keep calling him for water. I will definitely recommend this place. read more

It's been a while since we've been here and friend wanted to grab a quick bite. Daniel was our server and he was exceptional. He was super attentive and even suggested the mushroom risotto which was delicious although I did have to add a touch of salt. I would order it again without the spinach which I picked out and put to the side. Seemed to taste better without but was still delicious. We will come back, friend had already said it and I noticed they have a Sunday brunch which I would consider bringing Mom too. This rating is low solely due to the current sewage problem at the restaurant. The strong odor of raw sewage is unpleasant and unappealing. The overwhelming odor of raw sewage is unacceptable and unappetizing. Yes, the food is delicious, but it's difficult to eat when you can smell a stench. Barbara is the reason I keep coming back! Every single time we've come here, Barbara has been our waitress, and honestly, she's the absolute best. From the moment you sit down, her energy just lights up the place, she's super friendly, upbeat, and genuinely makes you feel welcome. You can tell she really cares about her guests because she takes the time to explain the menu, suggest specials, and even get us to try new drinks we probably wouldn't have ordered on our own (and they ended up being amazing!). What I love most about Barbara is that she's consistent, every visit feels like catching up with a friend who just happens to be amazing at her job. She's quick, attentive without hovering, and just has that natural charm that makes your dining experience so much better. She's truly an asset to this place, and I hope her manager knows how lucky they are to have her. I've had great food and drinks here, but it's Barbara who keeps me coming back. I had an amazing time at the Pear Street Bistro, we went for Brunch, Valeria was our waitress, she was very polite and friendly, she recommended the chicken and waffles and chilaquiles (per our request for her recommendation). Great environment, the restaurant is beautiful, a lot of seating options, bar, or dinner or outdoor. The food was delicious, we had a very freshly made ceviche, with home made chips, chicken and waffles very tasty, a bruschetta and as complement they gave us biscuits with home made strawberry jam. Parking lot is in the back and the prices are super affordable specially since the restaurant and service was so good! Our busboy was also very nice didn't catch his name. They don't have a half star but I would have done at least 2 1/2 stars. The PSB Burgers have totally changed and I didn't like it! I don't like grilled onions and I had a ton of them. My fault for not double checking the menu!! However the service was good but slow. It was a Thursday afternoon and it wasn't that busy but the guy next to us had even complained because he asked for his soup before his meal several times! And it came out with his meal. I don't know what's going on with the ownership but if he got a new cook, it's not the same. It will never be the same and I'm sorry to say I will never order that burger again.. and if you changed ownership it would be good to let your customers know or even change cooks because the food's not gonna be the same. I was really disappointed. I paid 100 bucks for two hamburgers and two drinks and two glasses of water. That's ridiculous for what we got served and I was not satisfied. read more

We had dinner at PSB this week and shared a hamburger and requested that it be cooked medium rare. The hamburger arrived well done and tasted like old meatloaf. I ordered the chicken and waffles when I bit into the chicken grease was following off out of my chicken. They did not drain the chicken. The waffles were good. The fruit was not that fresh, but I was very disappointed in the chicken so the waitress says to me, they fry the chicken and I said I know how to fry chicken and when I fry my chicken, I take it out and put it on a paper towel to drain the grease. First time here! How have I never dined here before when it is so good?! I always pass by this place and today my family and I wanted to go to dinner closer to home. We arrived during happy hour and Eric was our server. We ordered the crab cakes, ceviche, chips and salsa, wings, fettuccine Alfredo, and the cauliflower w/dip. The crab cakes were delicious! Perfect amount of crab and fried to perfection. The ceviche was fresh, sweet and tangy at the same time. Salsa w/chips and guacamole was good, while the fettuccine Alfredo was the clear winner with spinach, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms and chicken, it was so creamy! We had lemon drops, beer, and cosmos. They make their drinks good! For dessert we had the crème brûlée and it was perfect! Not too sweet and it was so creamy! Parking was great, there is public parking and street parking available. The place itself is huge! They even have outdoor dining. The only downside is the 4% surcharge, we were blindsided by this especially for a city like Pinole. I know SF does this but Pinole?! Anyways we had an amazing time and I was honestly really impressed with the food and the service and we will def be back for more. Ok! So came here with a pretty large group for the Sunday brunch. They had plenty of room to accommodate us with room to spare. Now I've heard about this spot from friends and co-workers but have never been. The atmosphere was pretty good not too loud were you couldn't hear each other but also not to quiet. Now the food. I'll just share my personal items and a few of my pictures will be of what others got. I ordered the calamari appetizer, the ribeye brunch meal, a shrimp scampi. My wife grabbed the chicken and waffle meal. When they brought the calamari out the first thing I noticed was it smelled like it was cooked in old grease. But I will say the wasabi dipping sauce was really good. 6/10 The shrimp scampi might've been the best thing we got today! Add a little sauce and it makes the sauce pop! Only downside is they only give you like 4 shrimp. 8/10 My ribeye was decent it seemed more like a steak you'd get from a chain diner. I ordered it medium it came out more medium well. It had a potato melody and I for the record don't really do colorful potatoes. 5/10 The biscuits they bring out as a starter was pretty good. Only knock would be the salt less butter they serve it with. 6/10 Now here is the critical feedback I'd give. The waiter we had was really nice and one guy with 15 people can be tough. What a nice find! In downtown Pinole and minutes from my house, Pear Street is a cozy chic eatery with fantastic burgers. Their PSB Burger Station is deliciously flavorful. There is even an egg option. I prefer mine with an over easy egg and medium rare burger and Pear Street didn't disappoint!! The service was super friendly and helpful. I came on a Tuesday afternoon and had a very pleasant time. The happy hour is 3-6pm. I ordered the Sex on the Beach and Tequila Sunrise. My husband had a beer on tap. I liked the crab cake even though it is tiny, probably wouldn't order this again. The bacon fritters were like a deep fried potato ball, reminds me of the potato balls from Gregoire's in Berkeley, delicious. I personally would have liked pairing the fritters with a creamy sauce instead of tomato sauce. The wings were a bit overdone this time, but I've had wings here a few times before and it was better back then. The restaurant was clean. The staff was super friendly. Order take out at 9:20pm. Received message that it would be ready by 9:36pm. Showed to restaurant at 9:33pm was informed that the they closed at 9pm on Saturday. But it says on 2 different apps that it was open till 10pm. Would've been nice to know when I ordered that they were already closed or else I wouldn't have went out of my way when I got off work to get it. Had to go home hungry because every other restaurant was closed by the time I made it to pear street. You guys really suck for that. Let the customer know if you closed early or if you changed your house. Would've been nice to know. Could've made other plans. read more

Pear street bistro has never failed me in terms of flavor. Back when they were on door dash (they aren't anymore) I would order food for pick up during lunch. Such a lifesaver when I run out ideas on Fridays during lent. This time, I actually went in to and sat down at the restaurant. Aside from one of the workers who seemed a little out of it, the staff were nice and friendly. They were paying attention to our table and I appreciated it, especially when I didn't have to ask for them to wipe it down when the other worker had spilled water. That habanero dipping sauce was insane. And I like spicy food. Also, this place has sweet potato tater tots! The portions here are also reasonable. I didn't particularly feel like I was being jipped. Our group of 10 met for a brunch here. it was busy as it was the lunch hour. The buzz in the room was quite elevated so I would say that the noise level was above average. The place was clean and comfortable, and the table was prepared and waiting for us when we got there almost immediately, we got water and menus. We noticed that they were very eager to help and the table servers were very friendly. this friendly little place in a small town was elegantly decorated, but not overly decorated. We were seared next to the window, and just , we could see the outside seating area,which is totally enclosed and has heaters available. The food arrived, and had very nice eye appeal. I ordered the meatless meat entre made with veggies and txtue and flavor was amazing. Just like ground beef. Everyone else at the table, complemented the visual and taste aspects of what they were eating. I would recommend that you make a reservation for a non-peak hour to order your food as it did take a little time for our orders to arrive . This was a very pleasant experience, eating here. To the super nice waiter with the neck tattoo who let my friend and I drink iced teas after a long hike at a table where he could have made more cash from folks eating food, I thank you. This guy went out of his way to make out post hike thirst go away. He even held the door for us as we left. Excellent service. We'd had a bad run at a different local restaurant where we were treated pretty badly, but this ONE nice waiter at Pear Street made me want to go back and really check out the menu next time I'm in Pinole. Looks like a great brunch spot. I wish more places knew how far a little kindness goes. You just never know what someone has gone through, and that little bit of extra just can make someone's day. I had dinner with my boyfriend and another couple at Pear Street Bistro this evening. I have to say that after hearing great reviews over the years, I was a little disappointed. The food was just okay. It was a bit overpriced for the quality. Two of the party ordered the special--the Pineapple Prawn Teriyaki--which seemed very pricey for what it was. I ordered the Veggie & tofu stir fry bowl, which was good, but had too much sweet sauce in my opinion. Its seemed to be more of a soup or stew consistency than a stir fry with glaze. The tofu was pretty good, but it was almost overwhelmed by the overly sweet sauce. It would be nice to have an option for brown rice instead of white rice, although I appreciate the quinoa option. The ambiance and staff were both very nice. Overall, however, I would not return based on the food. read more

If you're looking for a nicer place to dine in Old Town Pinole, this is your new spot. There's not a lot of options in the city that aren't chain restaurants, so supporting local businesses is always a plus. I've eaten here before and had mixed experiences. The few times we had issues with the food they were resolved quickly. The food is tasty, but pricier. It does feel worth it, but definitely not a spot for a weekly dinner. There is a bar spot if you just wanna come in and grab a drink to watch the game and a separate dining room. This works well for a local spot, and so is still a good option if you're looking for a place for a sit down meal. read more
