This place is little hidden gem. Old school, clean and tidy. They have a pool table and cheap drinks. The bartender was friendly and nice. We will for sure be back!

Bartenders are friendly and drinks are great. The place is plastered with posters of upcoming events. I try to support the occasional pop-up food booth outside to keep them coming back.

We've celebrated birthdays, holidays, and taken new friends and old here. The perfect meet up, place for one/done or sit and stay a while. Good value, great Little Hill Mai Thai. During the holidays they have one of the best hot buttered rums I've ever had. Most recently, we've enjoyed their live karaoke (you get to perform with a live band) which makes for a pretty epic experience, the addition of local bands performing in the back of the bar, and the pop up Double Barrel BBQ with the amazing Lorenzo cookin' it up (yes to the smash burger, grilled cheese, and chocolate chip dipped cookie). Dimmed lighting, curtained photo booth, booth/bar stool seating..simply the best. Recently popped in and noticed new napkins with their logo and pretty menus with new creative cocktails/fun, localish names. Looking forward to the future of this bar, rock on!

Sat at the bar with Sterling the bartender and felt right at home. They have a full bar with great cocktail menu! I had my go to Martini with onions instead of olives! Perfectly made and ice cold. My husband can't help but get a tequila & pineapple wherever he goes. Plenty of options for tequila which is awesome. We ordered the beet salad perfectly dressed. Homemade pickled beets & onions. The Rossettia appetizer. Think lasagna roll ups with prosciutto, mozz, ricotta baked in a pink tomato sauce! Deeeelish! Definitely get some bread to dunk. And couldn't forget the Margarita Pizza! House made dough! Thin crust, which is our fav, and the right balance of sauce, cheese, & basil. If you ask my husband, I never say "wow this pizza is good!" And I DID! Just delish. We're excited to come back & try more dishes on the menu and experience PJ's elegant and inviting vibe. El Sobrante is lucky to have such a great place so close to home. See you again soon! Cheers!

You take your foot off the gas. Club Mallard. You need to know. The interior is dark and warm and full of dead birds. Mounted, taxidermied, presiding over the room with the glassy authority of creatures who didn't expect to end up in a bar in Albany but have made their peace with it. The effect is somewhere between hunting lodge and natural history museum after hours, and it shouldn't work on San Pablo Avenue but it does, completely, the way any sufficiently committed aesthetic decision will eventually override its context. I've been once. Midweek happy hour. This is the most honest way to evaluate a bar -- no weekend crowd to inflate the energy, no event to justify the turnout, just the place and whoever shows up on a Tuesday because they want to be there. The happy hour is good. The bartender was gregarious and present and seemed to actually like the job, which sounds like a low bar until you've spent enough time on the other side of it. The regulars were friendly in the East Bay way, which is to say they talked to us without needing anything from us, offered opinions on what to drink, and went back to their conversations. There's an outdoor space for when you want sky. I've driven past since and seen it packed. I was glad. You root for a place like Club Mallard the way you root for any small enterprise that decided to be something specific in a landscape of sameness, and then just held the line.

It was a beautiful weekend evening and we sat in a room adjacent to the main bar in super comfy lounge chairs. This room is where karaoke and other events take place. There's great ventilation, and it's just quite honestly a great space to chill with friends, and also observe all the fun Richmond memorabilia. We also sat in the outdoor space, a super nice garden area that is well-kept and a great option to enjoy on these beautiful sunny days. I had a watermelon margarita and it was so fresh & tasty, I thought it was already summer! Friendly staff and environment filled with regulars and newcomers alike. They seem to have food trucks regularly, and we ordered food to-go from the Brazilian truck outside. Deliciously unique! There's also a few spots nearby you can bring food in from (an ice cream/waffle shop next door and Tacos El Tucan too). We took a ride share, but street parking is available.
