There is a donation for the food to help the cooks pay for the ingredients of this amazing home made food they provide to the bar customers. The soup and chicken Adobe was amazing. Some guy at the bar was like," hey that's the ladies room!" I stuck my head out the door and said," I know, thanks." When I came out he apologized for his mistake, bought me a shot and the rest is history. Every night at Ed's we always meet interesting people. We feel very fortunate to have a neighborhood bar that is so great, and is within stumbling distance of home.

The unruly behavior from some of the patrons, including people arguing and causing disturbances out in the streets, has been incredibly disruptive and frightening for my family. We are trying to sleep at night because we have jobs and responsibilities in the morning, yet we are repeatedly being subjected to loud arguments and disturbances outside. It is especially upsetting when this behavior scares my children in our own home. I understand that bars can be busy and people are going to have a good time, but there needs to be some consideration for the families and residents who live nearby. This level of disruption is completely unacceptable and has seriously affected our quality of life. I sincerely hope the owners and management take responsibility for what is happening outside their establishment and address it immediately. If this continues, I hope the city seriously considers whether this business belongs in a residential area at all. We deserve to feel safe and be able to sleep peacefully in our own homes.

Bartenders are friendly and drinks are great. The place is plastered with posters of upcoming events. The interior is classic dive bar with red lights, beer signs, circle booths, wooden bar and jukebox. I love being able to slide into a booth and watch everyone else stroll in to the bar. I try to support the occasional pop-up food booth outside to keep them coming back.

Convenient to get to from 80 or from Orinda taking San Pablo Dam Road. I went to PJ's with a group of eight. Service: the service is friendly from the time you walk in the door. Once at the table, water is poured immediately and the staff provides you with adequate time to review the menu. The staff is happy to answer any questions you might have regarding the items on the menu or the specials. Once you order, the food arrives in a timely manner depending on what you order Food: we started with the charcuterie plate which had a great balance of mortadella, prosciutto and other Italian sliced meats, olives, cheeses and toasted bread. So delicious! I was already full before my meal got to the table. For my main dish, I had the salmon in piccata sauce served with vegetables and either mashed potatoes or polenta. I had the potatoes. My dish was delicious. The piccata sauce had just the right flavor highlighted by the perfect tang of lemon. Others at our table ordered a variety of pastas: Fettuccine Alfredo, Capellini Pomodoro, fried calamari and a shrimp dish. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. For dessert, we shared the pineapple upside down cake and a berry cobbler. The dessert were outstanding as well. I want to go back to try their other desserts. Ambiance: it's a lovely restaurant. Sat at the bar with Sterling the bartender and felt right at home. They have a full bar with great cocktail menu! I had my go to Martini with onions instead of olives! Perfectly made and ice cold. My husband can't help but get a tequila & pineapple wherever he goes. Plenty of options for tequila which is awesome. We ordered the beet salad perfectly dressed. Homemade pickled beets & onions. The Rossettia appetizer. Think lasagna roll ups with prosciutto, mozz, ricotta baked in a pink tomato sauce! Deeeelish! Definitely get some bread to dunk. And couldn't forget the Margarita Pizza! There is a pool table and a bar on the second floor, so you don't have to go back downstairs. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They provided great customer service and came by to our table to pick up empty glasses. There was an incident that happened where a man was taking pictures of people in the bar and he came outside to the patio and started taking photos of our group, which we felt very uncomfortable about. We alerted staff and they were able to handle the situation and came back to check on us. They don't serve food here, but they do allow you to bring food from other places! That was very convenient because we were already comfortable and didn't want to leave to go somewhere else.
