Ever since my trip to Oregon, I've been craving crispy fish and chips! This is the closest restaurant that I can think of that offers that and many other similar dishes. The fish and chips were good enough to fulfill my cravings and it comes with 4pcs of crispy battered fish. You can request vinegar on the side as well. There was a good amount of meat on it, as there wasn't too much coated batter. I've also tried their crab melt and it was buttery and toasty. I asked to sub my fries for clam chowder and they happily accepted the substitution. I've only ordered to-go because the establishment is quite small and tends to get busy, but the food is still great! The items I've had tasted fresh and cooked very nicely. I accidently deleted all my photos. I came here with my old boss, whom I have become friends with. I ordered the clam chowder and it was delicious. We shared a mussels appetizer which I highly recommend. It comes with french fries. I also got fried oysters. She got a salad and I cannot recall what kind it was. I will say that the oysters I did not enjoy, they were runny on the inside and the coating that it is fried in was not to my liking. I would not order them again, but I would definitley return. I've never thought of Hercules as being a city I'd think of when it comes to dining out. I actually laughed when a co-worker recommended this place to me as a great Sunday brunch spot. Angela is an amazing server. Service is very quick and the food is brought out fast. The restaurant is located in a very scenic area. You can seat outdoors or indoors. First timer for me- boyfriend has been several times but not for close to eight years. We were greeted and sat outside- beautiful day. I had the French 75. He had a spicy bloody. Mine was so good I ordered two. He loved the spicy. We started with fried zucchini- so fresh. Lightly breaded. And comes in spears. Ordered the blta and fried chicken sandwich. I ate half of the blta and took rest home- fresh, crispy and balanced. Fried chicken sandwich was delicious with the pickles and slaw and the bun was yummy. All right so we came here because we are waiting for an open house to start. We've been here before, and I wasn't a big fan of their stools that they used at the bar. The old stools were beer kegs attached to the ground. If felt like you couldn't get to the bar and sit comfortably. When we return the sound that they actually put stools and that you can move. Smart idea because you could fit more people at the bar. Saw a lot of food coming out. That looked really l delicious. The french fries doesn't look good. The chicken wings came with the side, blue cheese, and the Cobb salad looked really delicious too. Since we already ate, we only were there for a drink or two. We both order the spicy jalapeño margarita. To be honest, it needed less jalapeño. I asked for some watermelon juice and it fixed the drink. The second drink we ordered was a Paloma, which freshly squeezed grapefruit. The drink came out and looked really delicious, but it was like chewing tequila because it wasn't sifted. All the ingredients were fresh & presented well. But my friend & I had to keep putting salt, sauce on our food. No seasoning on our dishes. Fish had a lot of batter. My man and I have been wanting to try the powder keg pub for about a year now and finally made it over for a celebration dinner. I had looked at their online menu beforehand and the only negative I have about the restaurant is that the prices for their happy hour drinks say $6 online but are actually $8 I ordered the crab roll, it was very tasty but would have liked the inside of the roll to have been lightly toasted. My man ordered the garlic mussels with sweet potato fries and my uncle ordered the fish and chips. We all had cosmos as they were the drink of the day and shared some deep fried oysters for an appetizer. Everything was delicious. But the deep fried oysters were my favorite. Flavor was ok. 6/10 - Fried Oysters, these came out first and were quickly being devoured by our group. Luckily I was able to take a picture with a couple pieces before they disappeared. The tartar sauce was a good combo with this. As a person who dislikes raw oysters, these were actually good. 7.5/10 - The Norwegian, good flavors, no complaints. Looks like a salad when it comes out but goodness is hidden underneath. 8/10 - The Housemade Corned Beef, it was recommended by the waitress since I couldn't choose between this and the Broken Egg Hangover Hash. I was glad I listened to her because this was delish! The beef had good flavor and was pretty tender. Potatoes well seasoned and eggs on point. One of the better corned beef I've had in a long time. Kaboom! 9/10 - Sage Fried Chicken, the star attraction, was the most ordered in our group. Did not disappoint, besides looking good, tasted amazing. The clam chowder was a no go for me and I would not recommend ordering it especially if you're used to thick rich chowder. This chowder was just yuk and milky water thin substance. Hard pass. Surprised I haven't posted a review here yet, probably since this is in my area which I frequent often. Cool pub style bar with a better than above-average menu. Various appetizers, sandwiches salads, and burgers are excellent here. The oyster bar is a nice touch with their daily catch. It is also open for brunch on Sundays as well. The place is small and can be loud, but still a good spot to watch a game. It gets really busy during the warm weather days when the inside and outside is full, but it is more because of the popularity of this place. Solid food, if you like the slightly elevated diner or pub food. Seating indoors and out. The service comes along fairly often. My dad loves the sliders here, which is a great option for those with a smaller appetite. I had the fish and chips, and I have to say the fish was flaky and moist and did not have that unfortunate "fishy" smell. I liked that this place could be dog friendly. I didn't bring my fur child with me, but it seems very friendly to dogs, if you're willing to eat outside. Parking can be a tiny bit tough if you don't see the lot in the back. Would come here again, particularly around happy hour. read more
