    Burger & fries

Super cute inside & outside. Wait staff was great. It's super busy. Folks really seems to like it here. I didn't really care for the burger, their fries or their fried fish. All the ingredients were fresh & presented well. But my friend & I had to keep putting salt, sauce on our food. No seasoning on our dishes. Fish had a lot of batter. Their oil was frying stuff hot, maybe needs to be changed. I think maybe don't order what we got. Because there was a line waiting for a table. It has a good vibe & again folks were happy to be eating there!

All right so we came here because we are waiting for an open house to start. We've been here before, and I wasn't a big fan of their stools that they used at the bar. The old stools were beer kegs attached to the ground. If felt like you couldn't get to the bar and sit comfortably. When we return the sound that they actually put stools and that you can move. Smart idea because you could fit more people at the bar. Saw a lot of food coming out. That looked really l delicious. The french fries doesn't look good. The chicken wings came with the side, blue cheese, and the Cobb salad looked really delicious too. Since we already ate, we only were there for a drink or two. We both order the spicy jalapeño margarita. To be honest, it needed less jalapeño. I asked for some watermelon juice and it fixed the drink. The second drink we ordered was a Paloma, which freshly squeezed grapefruit. The drink came out and looked really delicious, but it was like chewing tequila because it wasn't sifted. At the end of the day, the food looks really great, and the price is a very reasonable. They do have an outside seating area where you can enjoy the weather and inside had a lot of tables. I will definitely come back and have lunch or even dinner. The bartender was extremely nice and knowledgeable and could definitely make a drink.

Wonderful experience. The raw oysters were delicious and served on crushed ice. That night, miyatake oysters were served and I arrived at Happy Hour so the price was affordable. Next I ordered the Dungeness crab roll served on a sour dough roll and it was fantastic. It comes with fries and a Caesar salad. The waitress was kind enough to bring me extra anchovy slices for my Caesars salad.

First time here. This is a local little gem. There is indoor and outdoor seating available and a full bar. Venue is small but has lots of seating available. Food is good and reasonably priced. Drinks are great. Came here on a Monday and the margaritas are amazing Cheers to the bartender Parking is street parking only.

New to the area and decided to try this restaurant with the family! There was no wait when we walked in, we were sat down and serviced very quickly. The interior is very rustic and matched the restaurants name. The food was solid and safe to say we devoured it very quickly. The only draw back is the garlic fries, there was just garlic chopped and thrown into the basket of fries. Definitively will be coming back to try more of the menu!

My man and I have been wanting to try the powder keg pub for about a year now and finally made it over for a celebration dinner. I had looked at their online menu beforehand and the only negative I have about the restaurant is that the prices for their happy hour drinks say $6 online but are actually $8 I ordered the crab roll, it was very tasty but would have liked the inside of the roll to have been lightly toasted. My man ordered the garlic mussels with sweet potato fries and my uncle ordered the fish and chips. We all had cosmos as they were the drink of the day and shared some deep fried oysters for an appetizer. Everything was delicious. But the deep fried oysters were my favorite. Next time we go I'm getting the oyster po' boy for sure.

The food is fire I enjoyed everything. All the food was made perfect and full of flavor. 9/10 for bar food and they had lots of food options as well. Angela was great and attentive to us. Come here for good bar food and sports, it also has a family vibe to it as well.

The impossible mushroom Philly cheesesteak is really something to remember. It has so much flavor and is so filling! The wings were a pleasant surprise and we really enjoyed them despite being so simple. Their hot chocolate was also good but the OJ was bitter. Skip the OJ and it's a 10/10. Service and location are also great!

Updating my review with some pictures, service and food still on point. They also have a really good tangerine beer on draft.

Boom! No wonder this place is called the Powder Keg. The flavors just explode In your mouth! But I digress, let me start my review properly. So my group and I came in for their Sunday brunch. As out of towners, our local friends recommended this place because of their sage fried chicken breakfast. As soon as I heard "fried" my vote was an automatic "Yes!" Located in a scenic part of town, we parked a slightly 3ish minutes away. The neighborhood was a pleasure to walk through, kinda like walking through a sitcom/movie set. Walked in and the ambience was pleasant and inviting. Service was good and staff was friendly. After glancing through the menu we ordered. Here's the rundown: - Beer battered Onion rings, pretty mid, but not bad. Not too oily, and crispy. Flavor was ok. 6/10 - Fried Oysters, these came out first and were quickly being devoured by our group. Luckily I was able to take a picture with a couple pieces before they disappeared. The tartar sauce was a good combo with this. As a person who dislikes raw oysters, these were actually good. 7.5/10 - The Norwegian, good flavors, no complaints. Looks like a salad when it comes out but goodness is hidden underneath. 8/10 - The Housemade Corned Beef, it was recommended by the waitress since I couldn't choose between this and the Broken Egg Hangover Hash. I was glad I listened to her because this was delish! The beef had good flavor and was pretty tender. Potatoes well seasoned and eggs on point. One of the better corned beef I've had in a long time. Kaboom! 9/10 - Sage Fried Chicken, the star attraction, was the most ordered in our group. Did not disappoint, besides looking good, tasted amazing. Crispy breading, white sauce perfect balance of saltiness and umami, chicken was full flavored. Kaboom again! 8.5/10 (very slight criticism was that the chicken was a little dry) Treat yourself for Sunday brunch and hit up this sleeper spot!

Loved my experience at powder keg! Food was amazing as well as the service. We started with some oysters 10/10 would recommend, then got calamari and mussels for appetizers. You can say we love our seafood! Everything we ate was good, but im bummed I wasn't able to try their wings (I heard that's good). Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, our large group was able to fit. Still thinking about all the food we had at powder keg and can't wait to go back and try more!

The Powder Keg Pub Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - The Powder Keg Pub

Do they still do $1 oysters all day on Mondays?

They are now $1.50 and served on Mondays and Thursday's (so long as the truck shows up)

What time do they serve Prime Rib on Tuesdays?

On their menu it says 3 pm

    How's the prime rib?

IMHO, I think their prime rib is very good without having to pay steak house prices.

When are their oysters half off?

I am not sure. Sorry sometimes they have coupons that come in the weekly ads.

    How is parking around here?

It's all street parking. It's not really that bad although it gets pretty busy sometimes so you might have to walk a few blocks during prime times, especially on the weekends.

The drink program is strong across the board. Good beer selection, a nice mix of wine, and a full bar for cocktails and spirits. What really impressed me, though, was the quality of the cocktails. They are balanced, well-crafted, and made by bartenders who clearly know what they're doing. Some of the best cocktails I've had at any bar, not just locally. The staff is friendly and genuinely helpful. You never feel rushed or overlooked. It feels like a neighborhood place that also happens to take its drinks seriously. And the patio is a standout. String lights woven through the trees, heaters for cooler nights, tucked-away seating that feels almost like someone's backyard gathering spot. It's intimate and relaxed, the kind of space where conversations stretch on longer than you planned. This is not a flashy club and it's not a pretentious cocktail lounge. It's a well-run, character-filled bar that brings people together. Richmond is lucky to have it. Five stars, easily.

We also sat in the outdoor space, a super nice garden area that is well-kept and a great option to enjoy on these beautiful sunny days. They seem to have food trucks regularly, and we ordered food to-go from the Brazilian truck outside. Deliciously unique! The space is really spacious with that clean, industrial feel, and it's incredibly comfortable to hang out in. Between the big windows and views into the distillery, it feels elevated without trying too hard. I also did the tour, and it was fantastic. Getting to see the distilling process up close added a whole new layer to the experience and made everything you taste feel more intentional. The whiskey selection is seriously impressive. I went with a tasting flight, which was a great way to explore their lineup--from smooth, approachable pours to more complex, higher-proof options. You can tell a lot of thought goes into both the whiskey and how it's presented. The cocktails were also a highlight. Super well-balanced and not overdone. The Old Fashioned-style drink I had was spot on--clean, strong, and exactly what you want at a whiskey bar. Food-wise, everything hit. The oysters were fresh and paired perfectly with the drinks, and the hot dog + tots combo was simple but done really well--definitely exceeded expectations. Overall, this is one of those places that works for any kind of visit--whether you're diving into a full tasting or just stopping in for a drink. Great space, great whiskey, and an experience I'd absolutely come back for.
