This place is the definition of a "hidden gem"! Definitely, some of the best cocktails I've ever had. Their section of mule's is incredible and incredibly diverse. The food is superb as well. They specialize in Indian street food, which seems to have some Latin flavor elements. The load samosas are unreal. They also have traditional pub food too (e.g. wings, fries, tenders) and the fried catfish is some of the best fish and chips I've had. The catfish is soft, flaky, and doesn't have a hint of earthy flavor a lot of catfish has. The ambiance is super cool as well. It feels very comfortable and inviting inside. The decor seems to be constantly updating and improving. They also have a sitting area away from the bar, so if you have kids you can bring them to eat while enjoying one of their handcrafted cocktails. That being said, what makes this place is the service. Kay, the owner, makes sure to greet everyone and makes you feel like family. My family and I visited Copper Mug last weekend. The food was terrific! Unfortunately, the customer service was a major disappointment. We ordered the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, wings, and samosas, along with chicken momos. We were told they were out of the momos. That was fine, but it took a whole hour to receive our food. Once most of the food was served, we asked about the samosas. Then, we were told at the last minute that they were out of those as well. It would have been helpful to know sooner so we could have ordered something else. Our water was also never refilled during the meal. You can even see the two empty cups in one of the pictures. I could barely even take them because I was so ready to dig in! The butter chicken and chicken tikka masala were especially good, although we thought some pita bread on the side would have been a nice addition. Someone who I think was the owner brought my child some candy as a courtesy, which was a thoughtful gesture and much appreciated. Overall, I think Copper Mug is better suited for date night or hanging out with friends instead of a family meal. However, we do plan to order takeout in the future. read more

We got the chicken wing appetizers, dumplings, hubby wanted to try a mule and I got a mango lassi. I will say the mango lassi is the best one I have ever had. It's not too sweet, just the right consistency, is really pretty with the pistachios and cardamom sprinkled on top, and just hits the spot for me! The service was excellent. The owner is one of the friendliest guys you will ever meet. He is talkative, welcoming, upbeat, and very friendly! Amazing time celebrating my besties bday! We had a party of 8 and made reservations online. The staff were welcoming and warm. Quickly greeted us when we came in and promptly got a drink in our hand. I can't say enough good things about this place! I live right down the street and have seen different businesses come and go. Recently I saw this place have a lot of remodeling. And then I saw that there were some balloons and they were finally opened as The Copper Mug and Mississippi Catfish! This place is a very nice bar and restaurant. The owner Kay is incredibly friendly and loves talking to folks. It truly feels like a local place but with top tier cocktails. You can tell he loves what he does and the cocktails are made with skill and love. My boyfriend and I have been saying El Sobrante would be great with a craft cocktail bar and wow, this place is impressive. The whiskey sour is SO GOOD. One of the best I've had locally and my boyfriend is obsessed with the KT's Black white Russian. It is a gorgeous drink that is way too easy to drink. We came here with a party of 5 and everyone loved the cocktails and food. This place is kind of a dual restaurant because they serve Indian food but also is the home for Mississippi catfish. The catfish itself is incredibly fresh, well seasoned and overall my boyfriend said it was the best catfish he ever had. The fries were season with lemon and pepper. My friends had the momo's, pineapple fried rice and samosas. Overall this place is such a great addition to El Sobrante and the bay area over all. Some friends and I were looking for a place in the area to have a drink. We had been hearing good things about this place and decided to give it a try. We came in on a Saturday night and it was quite busy. We were greeted and seated right away. Nice decor. We checked before we came that there were tv's since the basketball playoffs were on. They had multiple tv's there and a big one in the back room where you can also do karaoke. Ebony was our waitress there she was very nice and helpful. I got a dark and stormy drink. It was good but could have been stronger. My husband got the Zeb's Oaxaca Old Fashioned it was also good but not that strong. My friends also thought the drinks could have been stronger. We ordered catfish and fries both were good and well seasoned. Hush puppies were also very good. Jalapeño poppers were good. My friend also enjoyed the fried shrimp and fries. I was really looking forward to going here! My friend and I met up at 7 on a Saturday for dinner & drinks. It was busy at the bar but we didn't have trouble getting a seat. A waitress came and took my friend's drink order as i walked up, so she came back for mine. We told her we needed a few minutes with the menu....35 minutes later we literally had to yell and flag someone down to take our order. When we arrived he greeted us by name and took amazing care of us all night. From start to finish he was genuinely attentive, friendly, and just a great human being. What really blew us away: we came in with our infant daughter for Valentine's Day, and he showed her so much care and warmth - and even offered to watch her so we could enjoy a date night. You can tell he's put a ton of time and heart into building out the space.
