We were curious about this place and went in to try it. It has Indian food, bar appetizers, and they specialize in mule drinks. We got the chicken wing appetizers, dumplings, hubby wanted to try a mule and I got a mango lassi. I will say the mango lassi is the best one I have ever had. It's not too sweet, just the right consistency, is really pretty with the pistachios and cardamom sprinkled on top, and just hits the spot for me! The service was excellent. The owner is one of the friendliest guys you will ever meet. He is talkative, welcoming, upbeat, and very friendly! The place is clean, and you can tell the owner really cares about the menu and wants to be sure he has things the customer likes. Amazing time celebrating my besties bday! We had a party of 8 and made reservations online. The staff were welcoming and warm. Quickly greeted us when we came in and promptly got a drink in our hand. I can't say enough good things about this place! I live right down the street and have seen different businesses come and go. Recently I saw this place have a lot of remodeling. And then I saw that there were some balloons and they were finally opened as The Copper Mug and Mississippi Catfish! This place is a very nice bar and restaurant. The owner Kay is incredibly friendly and loves talking to folks. It truly feels like a local place but with top tier cocktails. You can tell he loves what he does and the cocktails are made with skill and love. My boyfriend and I have been saying El Sobrante would be great with a craft cocktail bar and wow, this place is impressive. The whiskey sour is SO GOOD. One of the best I've had locally and my boyfriend is obsessed with the KT's Black white Russian. It is a gorgeous drink that is way too easy to drink. We came here with a party of 5 and everyone loved the cocktails and food. This place is kind of a dual restaurant because they serve Indian food but also is the home for Mississippi catfish. The catfish itself is incredibly fresh, well seasoned and overall my boyfriend said it was the best catfish he ever had. The fries were season with lemon and pepper. My friends had the momo's, pineapple fried rice and samosas. Overall this place is such a great addition to El Sobrante and the bay area over all. So happy to have this new spot in town! I reached out on Yelp to make a reservation and the owner responded right away, which was already a great sign. When we arrived he greeted us by name and took amazing care of us all night. From start to finish he was genuinely attentive, friendly, and just a great human being. What really blew us away: we came in with our infant daughter for Valentine's Day, and he showed her so much care and warmth - and even offered to watch her so we could enjoy a date night. You can tell he's put a ton of time and heart into building out the space. We really enjoyed our experience. I think the owner is who waited on us and made us feel right at home. The food was good. We had the lemon pepper wings and they were really good. We have been craving them but they seem to be closed every time we think of them. I also had the tikka masala which was delicious. The only downside was they don't carry naan bread. Just one other problem is they don't have highchairs and my 1 yr old needs a high chair or he will just keep running around and get in to everything. read more

3.0 stars based on our first visit. We have committed to come back to see if their service improves. Arrived and were greeted warmly. Sat in the area with most of the tables are separate from the bar area but does have a tv. We ordered our drinks first which consisted of a water for my wife, a Shirley temple for my teen daughter and an espresso martini for me. The Shirley temple was NOT made with Sprite and grenadine! They made it with orange juice and grenadine. What? Do they not know what a Shirley Temple is? My Martini tasted good but was served in a small martini glass and was only 3/4 full! Not worth $16. Next we ordered some appetizers. Bbq chicken wings and garlic fries. The fries themselves were great. The perfect size and the perfect balance of crisp and soft centered. But the garlic flavor fell flat because as we found out as we ate the fries, the fresh garlic didn't get stuck to the fries. There was very little Parmesan cheese and no salt. Once we salted them they were much better. Now for the good stuff. The chicken tikka masala was really well spiced and had less of a tomato forward flavor which we found to be exceptional. So good in fact that we were dipping our fries in the sauce! The chicken within the dish was moist and cut into nice manageable pieces and it did come with Basmati rice. We did order the pineapple fried rice which we all enjoyed as well. Why am I reviewing the chicken wings last you ask? Well because they didn't come to our table until we finished the main courses! It's too bad because they are super crispy and the bbq sauce was nice. Our server was very personable but that doesn't count enough towards good service. He didn't have a good grasp on what ingredients are in the dishes and instead of checking when asked he just gave an inaccurate answer and ad libbed. Us foodies do not appreciate that! Since they've only been open for a couple of months we'll give them a chance to improve and then give them another try which I hope will get them more stars! I went to Copper Mug recently and had a great time. The place looks really clean and cozy, and it feels kind of fancy but still chill. I ordered the samosa chaat and chicken momo's, and they let me try the momos half fried and half steamed, which was super cool. The mango lassi was also really tasty and refreshing. My partner and I visited this location hoping to enjoy some Indian food, as we had previously dined at the Copper Mug. Unbeknownst to us, the Copper Mug is closed on Wednesdays, although food is still served by another business at the same location--Mississippi Catfish. When we arrived, no one greeted us, so I approached the window to ask a question. The man working--who was on the phone the entire time--was extremely rude and dismissive. I politely inquired about the Copper Mug's hours, and instead of offering a simple explanation, he responded sarcastically and told me to "read his lips," as if I were being difficult or unintelligent. His tone was condescending and disrespectful, and I was genuinely shocked by the lack of basic customer service. The experience felt not only unprofessional but borderline discriminatory. I do not recommend visiting this place. Poor service and a complete lack of courtesy--definitely a place to avoid unless the Copper Mug folks do something about it. read more
