A hid gem! This is a perfect spot to gather with friends and family. Nestled in the cove of the point Richmond bay, surrounded by larger than life burning man art and serenaded with bands to entertain while the sun sets off the water and boats glide by. The food was delicious and there was at least one dish for all dietary needs. The dessert selection was on point. As a group of nine We enjoyed the selection and wines. Service was attentive and helpful.

The whole super-casual-outdoor-dining-on-picnic-tables-near-the -marina vibe is great, but both times I've come to the Sailing Goat, the staff seem to be overwhelmed, which unfortunately affects the experience. It's hard to feel welcomed when I just feel their stress energy. The last visit was on Mother's Day (we were prepared to be patient and wait). We expected to be able to order drinks and hang out in the sun while we waited for our tables. That could not happen since we were told that the staff were too overwhelmed to handle extra drink orders. When we found out that the only drinks available were in cans, that was particularly annoying. The timing of the food was a fail. My daughter finished her Mac and Cheese before multiple other people got their food. Plus the serving was too small to be in the entree section. She and my husband, both left feeling hungry and had to eat when they got home. I was happy with my quinoa salad that was filling and delicious. It was also nice to have live music. If it's not a warm weekend day, maybe things are better but then, why go?

If you're ever craving a fish and chips dish with an amazing outdoor view, then this is the spot! This place is amazing for kids to run around and play on the massive swing and there's so much to see! There is outdoor seating only so make sure to dress accordingly or go during good weather. Food was delicious but service took forever to come out. The beers and cider are nice to have while you wait for your food. This is amazing place to socialize and just take in the fresh air. There was a baby shower celebration happening next to the eating area so looks like that can be also be reserved for parties or celebrations which is nice. We'd definitely love to come back one day!

Great food My son-in-law and I both had fish and chips which was pretty good! They do have malt vinegar. You just have to request it. I also had their chowder of the day, which was really good! It was made with rockfish. My daughter had the bouillabaisse and that was really good. I wish I had ordered that! The only complaint was it's a long way to get there from the exit! This of course is beyond their control! I would go while the light is still out. Do not go after dark because the roads to the restaurant are not lighted! Would definitely go again, but while there's still sunlight out, lol!

Date night at this little gem was special and food was amazing. It is somewhat a little eerie driving through the windy road but once you reach the end, its very sweet and cozy spot. The dining area is outdoor so come prepared with a jacket just in case however, if you don't have one or your date is at arms length away, you can adjust the heater to your liking. Caesar Salad - i love me a fresh crispy salad and this def satisfied that Fish and Chips - HUGE tender pieces of fish and my favorite, fries Brazilian Fish Stew - Great flavor, lots of fresh seafood Service was great, food was amazing. We were stuffed after our meal but luckily this place is located along a pier. We walked off our meal and admired the art installations on the open grass area.

Stopped in for lunch on a weekday with nice weather. This place is kind of off the beaten path behind Chevron but has pretty nice views. Been meaning to try this place after seeing it pop on Eater and an article on sfgate. The menus are seasonal so they have a pretty good rotation of food. Ending up ordering the brandade app and splitting both the fish and chips and harbor chowder with the wife. The fish and chips were good, highlight of the meal. Not surprising considering from what I've read, it's what they've become known for. Other 2 however were lacking. Brandade and chowder were both lacking in flavor, eating pretty bland. If you're looking for a place with a decent view and good fish and chips this place may be worth considering. However considering how remote it is and pricey it can be, I'd probably rather make the trek over to Sausalito.

I've been wanting to try this place for a couple of years now since seeing reels of them on IG being hyped up. Located at the tip of Point Richmond on the other side of the Chevron refinery. Getting here is quite an adventure since it's out ofand off the beaten path. The road is bumpy, narrow, winding, unkempt and plenty of potholes. Be prepared to move at the edge of the road when you encounter another vehicle going the opposite direction. It's a secluded place right on the waterfront with a small community of charming boathouses. They certainly have a great view of the bay. It was a lazy Sunday afternoon, but the place was busy and had a musician playing on stage. It's definitely a whimsical place and dog friendly. The dining area is outdoors covered under a tin roof of steel/metal structure. Service was very welcoming and quite accommodating. We were initially seated near the entrance and were moved to the main dining area once it became available. We ordered a Brandade - $17 (Local Rockfish, Onion, Potatoes, Garlic, Cream and Crostini), Harbor Chowder - $14, Pizza Romana - $22 (House made sourdough w/ meat), Fish & Chips - $28 (Local Fish, French Fries and Tartar Sauce) and Richmond's own East Brother Oatmeal Stout for some libation. Everything looked good and my expectations were high. But when it came to tasting them, the flavors were surprisingly lacking and became a one note experience. A monotone of chewing without enjoyment. The best-tasting dish we had was the Fish and Chips - deep fried and seasoned appropriately. And the beer was excellent...thank goodness. But the rest were just bland to meh. The crostini were too hard; the pizza was too bready and unappetizing, and the chowder was too watery. I believe their menu is seasonal and rotating so perhaps a return visit would be a different experience. I hope, since I was looking forward to trying their Calamari, which sadly, was not on the menu. On this trip, the place didn't live up to the hype.

Sat on the bar/water, had fish and chips and a bowl of chowder. The fish was fresh, crispy, flaky, loved the batter and rockfish. The chowder was flavorful and unique/ delicious and from scratch. Boats in the marina, sunshine, a drink- great afternoon hangout spot!

What a fun restaurant! I stopped by Sailing Goat for a late lunch with friends after a group sauna session at nearby good hot. It feels like the restaurant is in the middle of nowhere, but it is adjacent to the San Pablo sailing docks. We were lucky to stop by on a gorgeous sunny and unseasonably warm February day. there was live music playing, and the staff were in good spirits. The menu is not extensive, but it has plenty of options for every taste. I was very happy with my quiche and salad. The salad in particular seem to be composed of super fresh and just picked veggies. Portion sizes were generous. I also enjoyed a bite of my friend's fish and chips, which was super flaky and fresh. That portion was massive with three huge pieces of fried fish and a huge pile of crispy shoestring fries with tartar sauce. I also enjoyed my can of cider, which was dry and refreshing. Highly recommended!

This was my first time visiting The Sailing Goat, and honestly, I wish I had gone sooner. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The location is beautiful--right on the water at Point San Pablo--with plenty of parking and outdoor seating to enjoy the views. Every dish was a hit. The salad was fresh and incredibly crunchy, with some of the best croutons I've had in a long time. My favorite was the seafood stew; it was rich, flavorful, and packed with perfectly cooked seafood. The fish and chips were also excellent--light, flaky, and crispy without being greasy or soggy. We enjoyed all of our drinks as well. The service was quick, friendly, and genuinely helpful. From start to finish, everything felt easy and welcoming. The whole experience was perfect: great food, beautiful weather, waterfront views, and outstanding service. I can already tell this is going to become one of my favorite spots to bring friends and family when they're visiting from out of town. Skip the crowded tourist traps and come here for delicious seafood and a relaxing waterfront experience.

Came here over the summer and thought it was such a cute restaurant by the water! I had been seeing Sailing Goat all over social media and wanted to see what the hype was about, and it did not disappoint! It's a little bit of a trek to get here in the car, winding and narrow roads to be aware of. But once you're in the clear and can see the parking lot, it's all worth it! It looks like all seating is outside on a deck (please correct me if I'm wrong). A portion of their kitchen is open and facing the deck, so it's nice to see the chefs cooking and the servers come out with your food. Our server that day was super friendly and patient with us as we made our indecisive selections. My cousin and I ordered the roasted spring chicken, fish and chips, and the harbor chowder. Everything was so delicious! Loved all the seafood in the soup! The fish had a light and crispy batter to it that was to die for! And the roasted spring chicken was light, protein packed, and refreshing. I believe we had a seasonal berry drink that they were serving at the time (nonalcoholic). It was sooooo good! Such a wonderful meal in a beautiful location! Highly, highly recommend!

Jenny and Edwin were my servers and they were absolutely wonderful. They had smiles. They were informative. They explained things on the menu they were able to get me a little extra salad dressing with that prompting they were very Service connected and oriented. I have been coming here for years and it's one of the greatest secrets in the Eastbay of San Francisco. If you wanna feel like you've gone somewhere truly unique this is the place. I remember it and its first and second incarnation and this third has elevated at one more level. I think it's absolutely wonderful here you cannot beat the views and the people that work here are so nice and the food is really beautiful to look at. And the prices are reasonable for the ambience. I think this is absolutely a date place or it could be your place, but it is a very special place for everyone. Children and pets are welcome and seating is all outdoors covered and protected from the wind. And it sits right on the marina with the Bay to your back, it's just gorgeous here. My wife agrees with me that this now is our spot. Our go to place when we want to getaway sit and have beautiful views nice people around us and just relax and let it all go. Also look into music events that are held down there too. It's a community that is unique.

This was the cleanest porta-potty I've ever used. And I never use them. But my entire party was talking about it so I had to try it.
    Dorothy D.

Super cute spot right on the water, just off the last exit of the Richmond San Rafael Bridge. All outdoor seating, good food, free parking, and the cleanest porta potty I've ever seen! We went early and caught a live band setting up as we were leaving, so yes, they do live music too. Service was friendly but a little too eager. We were catching up with friends and our waiter kept checking in every few minutes. Still, the food was great and the view was amazing. If you want a chill spot with waterfront vibes and good eats, check this place out. You'll love it!

The quinoa arugula salad was hella good. Fish and chips is a must. Mac n cheese was delish.

Ask the Community - Sailing Goat Restaurant

Is it handicapped accessible? stairs? accessible to someone with a walker?

There are a few stairs to get to the restaurant. If you go around the restaurant there are no stairs but a very small hill that you can utilize your walker with as well.

Is the outdoor patio dog friendly?

    Yes, certainly.

    What is the phone #?

Hello Roberta, Thank you for reaching out. We have updated our contact info here and on our website.

Hi. I will be coming by boat. Is there somewhere to tie off?

It's a Marina, so yes. I don't know all the rules, but I'd suggest a phone call to the restaurant, or, if it's closed, to the marina itself.…

Can you accommodate groups up to 30 peeps outside?

    Yes

    Are there heat lamps?

Yes, we have heat lamps in case it gets chilly at sunset.

The wait was 20-25 minutes to be seated outside. We provided our cell number to receive a text when our table was ready. Text received. Host was friendly and seated us promptly. There were two outdoor areas for Hog Island - a smaller, narrower seating area that held parties up to 4 and a larger tented, barn style area that accommodated parties exceeding 5. The table we were seated at was small, requiring us to rearrange our setting multiple times to accommodate dishes and drinks received. Even though the space was rather quaint, we avoided being bumped into. Conversations are far from private, we heard a lot. Our order of two drinks - a Manhattan ($17) and Spicy Pineapple margarita ($16) - along with a food order of a dozen half shell oysters ($48), four grilled oysters ($18), a fried fish sandwich ($24) and a rustic seafood stew ($36). Our drinks were perfectly made and perfect for a relaxing day. At $16 for a margarita in a martini glass was devastating to say the least. Highly cheap on the part of Hog Island. The same could be said for my brother's customized drink in a martini glass at $17. The oysters on a half shell were shared between two, enjoyed by both. The oysters were perfectly shucked - free of an unwanted crunch from shell pieces. They were fresh, large and delicious. The grilled oysters were prepared just right, not over grilled with a juicy finish. The chipotle sauce overpowered the oyster and the garlic oil was the ultimate compliment to enhance the natural flavor of the oyster. I am not a fan of cooked oysters, these were prepared to complement the oyster (minus our chipotle selection). There was also a miso butter option, my husband had visited previously and said it was too salty. My brother devoured his fish sandwich, said it was juicy, crunchy and well prepared. The bun was soft and slightly sweet complimenting his fish burger. Hod order came with a side of fries. My rustic seafood stew was slightly disappointing. The mussels, clams, shrimp and lingcod were prepared perfectly but there was not a lot to enjoy at $36. I did not expect a lot, just a little more than the portion received. I fished through the tomato base looking for missed seafood. With these bites there was a lot of crunching from shell bits. This part discouraged me from continuing to look for missed pieces of seafood. I am not a fan of crunchy soup that is not intended to be as such. Overall we had a beautiful experience. Our waiter was comical, the view was beautiful, the weather warm with kisses of breeze and the company shared with my brother couldn't have made it any more perfect. We would definitely return again. Apple Pay is accepted as the payment system is brought to the table. I'm sure other mobile forms of payment are accepted too. Gift cards can be purchased at the register where you check in with a hostess. Hoping my daughter's teacher enjoys our appreciation of her when she visits. The weather is almost always perfect this way. Enjoy good eats, good drinks with good company - solo or with others!

She came back to her station, did not look up and did not acknowledge my husband who was now first in line. She left and a young man replaced her at the reception. By this time, I was standing beside my husband and asking if we could be seated in the tented area. No problem. We were seated. My husband told me he had been ignored by the young lady receptionist. However, after my experience tonight, I will not return. Basically, I sat in the bar and wanted a plate of pasta with clams. I told the server when he came by that I wanted the vongele. I meant the pasta with clams. However, instead, I got an appetizer order of plain clams. arguably this was my fault, but the server never came back to check on how I was doing. as a result I did not have the opportunity to order some pasta to eat with my clams. I later on asked the server for a menu. He brought me a menu and then never returned to ask me if I wanted to order anything in addition. This is some of the poorest service I have ever had in an Italian restaurant. First, the server should've clarified whether I wanted just clams or whether I wanted them with pasta. I should've gotten some follow up to ask how I was doing so I could have amended my order. Third after I asked for a menu I should've been asked if I wanted to order anything else. for all else failing I should have been offered some sort of comped food or something. He could've said can I bring you a the house or a cup of coffee to make it up to you for sitting and being ignored for your entire meal. When I finally stood up and went and got the check to pay for my meal because I had become so frustrated. I was no longer willing to wait, the server who is also apparently also tending Bar told me "perhaps I shouldn't have let the second server leave early." that's an understatement. I wanted to order more food and just did not have the opportunity. I would've expected the server to comp me the clam appetizer or do something to try to make this negative experience a little bit more tolerable however he did nothing. It looked like a lot of people were having a good time and that the place was seriously understaffed. I can realize this while at the same time say that if a restaurant is going to charge pretty hefty prices for a good meal, the place should be staffed well enough to bring me some darn food. I thought about giving this place to stars, but the clams themselves were not that bad. The focaccia was mediocre. I would not give this place a second chance. I recognize that I'm sitting in my hotel room feeling pretty hungry and I'm probably writing a more severe review than if my stomach were full. Oh well.

This visit, we came determined to finally see what all the hype was about--and I'm so glad we did. The wait was about 30 minutes, which honestly wasn't bad for such a popular spot. The best part? Once we were seated, service was incredibly efficient. Our food arrived quickly, giving us more time to savor every bite. The oysters were as fresh as they come--briny, sweet, and tasting like they had just come out of the bay. We ordered all three grilled oyster varieties, and each one was outstanding. The toppings added layers of flavor without masking what makes a great oyster so special: its delicate natural sweetness. It's a balance that's surprisingly hard to get right, and Hog Island nailed it. Then came the clam chowder. Wow. Velvety, rich, and loaded with tender clams, it had deep, comforting flavor without feeling overly heavy or salty. Easily one of the best clam chowders I've ever had. Now I completely understand why people are willing to wait in line. Some places are all hype--this isn't one of them. Hog Island absolutely lives up to its reputation, and we'll happily be back!

This is definitely on the more expensive side, but for a special lunch or a first-time visit, we felt it was worth it. The quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the location made for a memorable experience. The only service issue we experienced was at the beginning of our meal. It took approximately 15-20 minutes before we received water, and guest ( they knew pretty well ) arrived after us appeared to be served immediately by 3 different servants with water and wine. We felt a bit overlooked and unwelcomed during that time. However, I do want to give credit to our waiter, who recognized the delay and apologized, which we appreciated. One additional surprise was being charged $2 for hot water with lemon. As someone who does not drink iced water, I often order hot water with lemon and have never been charged for it before. On a lunch bill approaching $150, that charge felt unnecessary and a little unwelcoming. It certainly wasn't about the $2 itself, but rather the principle of it. That said, the food and overall experience were excellent. I would not take any stars away because this place is truly a gem with delicious food, gorgeous views, and a welcoming outdoor dining area for guests with dogs. Highly recommended, especially for visitors looking for a memorable waterfront dining experience in Sausalito.

Service was very good. The wait staff was very attentive and gave advice when asked. I had a glass of white wine, 2024 pieropan soave, which was crisp and paired very well with the items we ordered. My bf got a local pilsner, which was refreshing. We ordered crab cakes and a bowl of clam chowder for starters. Both were very delicious! The vinaigrette dressing on the salad paired nicely with the crab cakes. The chowder had the perfect consistency. For mains we had the red snapper and the Mediterranean branzino. While both were tasty, I think they could've done a better job flavoring the fish itself. With the toppings on my Mediterranean branzino it made the dish but without the sauce and slaw on top the fish itself was a little bland. Same with the snapper. The fish had a delicious crispy skin and sat on a bed of vegetables and clams in a sauce. The fish itself was a little bland but together it worked. I think I would've liked to experience stronger flavors. Having said that, I can appreciate the dishes for what they were. For dessert the waiter recommended the tres leches as his personal favorite which is what we got. It was delicious! And while it was sweet it was not overly sweet. Overall I enjoyed this place, I'd come back for more.

The location is awsome, right on the water in Tiburon, and the vibe is cozy without feeling cramped. Seating is a little tight, but honestly it kinda adds to the charm. There's one huge unisex bathroom tucked right behind the bar, which was surprisingly clean and easy to find. The back patio is probly the highlight. On a clear day you get amazing views of Angel Island and SF, hard to beat while having lunch or a drink. Food was solid. Kitchen does a decent job, although they seem to miss order details every now and then. I ordered a medium rare burger and it came out well done. Before I even had a chance to make a big deal about it, our server noticed and brought a replacement burger out pretty quick. That was super thoughtful and showed they actually care about the customer experiance. Not perfect, but good food, great views, and staff that are willing to make things right. I'd definitly come back.

I ordered fish, and it was the smallest piece I've ever had. My husband had pasta with shrimp; unfortunately, they used the smallest and cheapest shrimp available. The Caesar salad was nothing special, no flavor, and we had to ask for extra dressing. The calamari appetizer didn't look appealing and lacked a fresh, vibrant color. Nothing was included with my $44 fish dish, so I had to order a side of roasted potatoes for extra $8, which were not fresh at all. When I asked our waiter, he said they make them daily, which likely means they were made anytime in the morning. Overall, it was not worth the $198 we spent on a tasteless dinner. Very disappointed that we chose Luna Blu for our special day, and we will definitely not be going back. Basically, you're paying for the view.

Their wine offerings consist of international wines and wines from local small wineries. They also had two craft beers and some light bites.
