One of the best chai teas I've had
Julie C.

Yelp brought me to this busy Point Richmond coffee shop. In town for business, I stopped on a weekday morning around 7am to an already long line. As regulars popped in, they were offered their usual orders and friendly conversation. There was warm, welcoming energy. I opted to have a chai tea latte and the #5, avocado bagel. My tea was the right balance of spicy and sweet and the breakfast was delicious and filling. I also enjoyed the jazzy music and people watching.

Super cute little place! We only stopped in for a coffee (and tea, for me), but the menu looked really good with all the sandwich options. I ordered a Peet's honey almond matcha latte (on ice), and was thoroughly happy with my choice. Next time, if we have time, we'll grab a bite to eat.

Such a cute little coffee shop in Point Richmond! They serve Peet's Coffee too, my favorite. Got an iced black tie, my favorite. Glad it's local, I literally biked here, and don't have to travel far for my Peet's! I think it's better than Starbucks honestly... They also service breakfast and bites and treats. I definitely gave in and got a sweet chewy homemade cookie. No regrets. I biked it off later.

Found ourselves in Pt Richmond today and came to Roma. We had been one other time and it was delicious. Today, same outcome. My wife had the grilled Artichoke sandwich. All I could hear during lunch was a chorus of HMMM's that good. I had the grilled prosciutto sandwich while singing the same song my wife sang. Very good food and a pleasant place.

Cute convenient welcoming and friendly. Lots of regulars already. Striking out on her own, Yoly Gomez brings the same energy passion and warmth customers in Berkeley have come to appreciate. Hopefully a successful permanent fixture to the up and down pt richmond culinary scene, Roma likely will cater to locals, bikers, swimmers and folks visiting off the freeway!and the chevron peeps too. It's not pretentious, simple solid and good at a reasonable price. Pretty much all you want in a coffeehouse.

Welcome to the newest addition to Point Richmond - Roma Cafe & Bar. We happened to be driving by saw the sign that today (Saturday, 3/13) was their grand opening day. We walked in and they had a handful of friends wishing them well on their first day. Located at the "entry" of town, they across the way from the mixed use park, and is a perfect stop for bike riders on their way to or from riding across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. Their food offerings include breakfast burritos, assorted salads, a couple of soup choices, pastries. In time, they will also have sandwiches. They are also applying for a beer and wine license. Their cold case had a couple of salads, orange juice and I noticed a granola and yogurt cup. They had homemade chicken posole and broccoli cheese soup on the menu. I ordered the posole and it was quite tasty. Definitely warmed me up on a sunny, but chilly afternoon. It came with a good sized chunk of bread, too. Pastries are outsourced but looked pretty yummy. I ended up getting the coffee cake. It was a good sized slice with a tender crumb, not too sweet and definitely shareable. I think they will have a pretty good set up for grab and go breakfasts and lunches. Outdoor seating available. They also appear dog friendly, judging from the water bowl out front. Super friendly people behind the counter. Covid protocols are in place. They take cards, cash and Apple/Google Pay as well.

Feb 26, 2025 3pm 3.8 stars…read more We stopped by for a Hot Pastrami and Swiss sandwich (we ended up with "The Point Richmond") and a coke. $19 and change. There is a learning curve. The sandwiches on the menu all have cute names like "The Point Richmond" and "The New York". That if nice except that- for example... if you want a Hot Pastrami with Swiss, you need to read every ingredient of every sandwich until you find "The Point Richmond". The menu lists it having hot pastrami though it doesn't have Swiss. We ordered that. The Point Richmond pastrami was warm. I was thinking it was just warm rather than hot because of, how you say...oh yeah.. Physics. The relitively smallish amount of meat ratio to cool moist vegetables and room temperature Dutch Crunch (Roll) bread couldn't possibly hold heat for more than the minute it took us to get to the outdoor seating. When I looked at the on-line ordering menu at home later. I read that if I want Pastrami and Swiss, I should have ordered The New York, as it has Pastrami (though not heated) and Swiss. I also found out you can order Extra Meat for $3.49 or Double Meat for $5.49. A first timer here would have no clue that they should order extra meat if they want a hot sandwich. The sandwich was fresh and enjoyable. The cashier and the deli person were friendly. It was nice to visit Pt. Richmond after these few years. I might go back and choose the Build Your Own option. "I'll have a Pastrami and Swiss please. Double meat, double Swiss cheese, with horseradish and sharp mustard on the side if you got em. On a Dutch Crunch roll. Heat that bad boy to the hilt please?"

New Life Cafe is located downstairs in Market Square Mall. The service was the absolute BEST! The restaurant was also clean and the environment was friendly! I had the pleasure of ordering their fried mushroom tacos and a Kay Luv's Passion & Plankton (passion fruit, mango pulp & marine phytoplankton) juice. The tacos were so flavorful! The taco contained fried mushrooms, lettuce, cilantro, green onion, tomato, a spicy sauce on top all inside of a special-made signature taco shell! The taco shell held together nicely and did not get soggy despite the taco being full of delicious vegetables! I really enjoyed my meal, so much so I cleared the plate. I was given a sample of the Mac no Cheese to try and it was creamy and flavorful. It is great that we have a healthy black-owned businesses in Richmond that not only care about feeding the bodies in the community but nourishing our souls! I would definitely recommend New Life Cafe AND Naturally Herbs and More! I will keep going back and I hope they continue to prosper and provide knowledge to the community!

I also noticed they've received recent reviews, so I thought I'd give them another try. Unfortunately, I had another disappointing experience. I placed a pickup order during their posted business hours (8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.) and received a notification saying I'd be updated once the restaurant accepted my order. After waiting about 10 minutes, there was still no update. I checked again a little later, and the app said the restaurant had never confirmed my order and instructed me to contact customer support. The customer support representative tried calling the restaurant to see if there was an issue, but no one answered. In the end, my order had to be canceled, and I was refunded. My suggestion is to make sure your hours and days of operation are accurate across all platforms. Customers shouldn't be able to place orders if the business isn't able to fulfill them. If there are limited or inconsistent operating hours, that should be communicated clearly. It's really disappointing because there aren't many coffee shops in this area, and I think a lot of people would love to support a reliable local café. I genuinely wanted to give this place another chance, but unfortunately, my experience was the same.

The name of this nondescript takeout operation is actually its address on Macdonald Avenue. Ironically, the most popular place to eat in this neighborhood is McDonald's. I barely found it because it looks like a vacant storefront with a For Lease sign. A red OPEN sign was the only giveaway. I happened to read that this place offers some excellent Korean-style dishes. I think the menu can be more accurately described as global. It's apparently a mother-and-son business with the kitchen run by a Korean-American chef named Daniel who doesn't share his last name. His mother works the front of the house, and people order beforehand and come in for pick up. There's a community table presumably set up for dining, but the space felt more like a dental waiting area. Through the order window, I could see Daniel way in the back beyond a passthrough. I used their QR code to review the menu and order on the spot. All the entrees appeared enticing including Grilled Short Rib and Fried Pitman Farms Chicken. I chose the $24.50 Market Grain Salad. It was beautifully presented even in a takeout box (Photo 9). There was a mix of arugula, iceberg, romaine, and Treviso radicchio at the base topped with visual jewels: Fuji apple, Sonia Rojas cara cara orange, blood orange, mandarin orange, muscat grapes, and avocado. Further toppings included spring onion., tarragon, sunflower seeds, English cucumber, heirloom carrots, and French breakfast radish. Farro, red quinoa, and French feta cheese added more layers of flavor and texture. Harissa grilled Pitman Farms chicken provided a succulent serving of protein, and a unique sesame soy lemon chili dressing finished off a masterful creation. It was an impeccable salad. The $11 Skin On Gaufrette Fries were cross-cut and impossibly tender with a tasty dipping sauce (Photo 6). A genuine winner!
