For years I would pass Anh whenever I'd run at the Richmond Marina, but only recently did I get the chance to try the food and drinks here! A mentor of mines took me out to dinner here in celebration of my recent graduation and a farewell for my time away overseas for a months. The restaurant was spacious and of course had a cute little view of the marina and bay right outside. Dinner time on a weekday was nice and convenient, and the staff were super chill and patient as we took time to scan the menu and decide what we wanted. We ordered the following: - Shaking chicken: 4.5/5 - this was so flavorful and such a good protein dish! - Spring rolls: 4/5 - Clean and healthy; the sauce made it sooo good. - Fish cakes: 4/5 - they were yummy and good complement to the other dishes we had considering that we tried to balance out our nutritional options. - Spiked Vietnamese coffee: 5/5! I love Vietnamese coffee already but getting to experience an alcohol-based version was solid with this dinner. It was strong with a rich coffee flavor. Something I'd like to emphasize is that these dishes (in my opinion) are ideal for sharing. I ended up taking a lot of the food home because between us two, it was rough eating everything in one go. The calamari was the hit, light but crispy. There was a assortment of mains but the highlight were the garlic noodles with protein-chicken and shrimp. So garlicky and flavorful! The food is very tasty! My favorite appetizer there is the panko crusted shrimp. I get it every time. The drinks are always really tasty and well mixed. I really like their Pho. It's a nice serving size! The views are amazing if you go on a sunny day, you get a clear view of the bay and all of the nice sailboats around. Anh Restaurant & Bar is tucked away in Richmond on Esplanade Dr. Since traveling there recently, we also came upon another restaurant that's right next door ~ Lara's Fine Dining. Both restaurants share a parking lot, right on the water. A lookout of the Richmond Marina, perfect for a sunny day. We were hoping to sit outside at Anh and soak up the sun, but the weather had a bit of a dip in temperature ~ I would love to come back and sit outside on the patio. The staff was so kind to set us up with a table that accommodated our kiddo. We ordered garlic noodles and a Thai iced tea to start, and noticed their menu seems to have expanded (in a great way) over time. The Thai iced tea was super refreshing and came out quickly, the garlic noodles super flavorful, warm, and comforting. I went with the Bi-Bim-Bap, grilled chicken as my protein. My husband went with the classic Pho. Everything was solid, fresh, and had good flavoring. I think overall I was left wanting a bit more from my dish ~ I've had other versions of this dish throughout the East Bay, and while I appreciate the culinary design of this specific bowl, it fell a bit short for me. Felt a bit deconstructed with interesting portions of each component. Pricing is fair, they had an ample indoor lunch crowd. Maybe next time I'll try a drink, split a few starters, and split an entree. Regardless, happy to visit Anh Restaurant & Bar in a part of Richmond that seems to be growing with time. The setting is stunning, with a fantastic view of the water from the outdoor seating area. I tried the vegan tofu bun bowl, which was tasty, though I wasn't a fan of the egg roll and wished the tofu pieces were larger. The jasmine iced tea was delicious; the jasmine flavor was prominent and I appreciated that it was unsweetened. My friend ordered the mango shrimp papaya salad and enjoyed it. The servers were attentive and kind. I would definitely come back to try more of their vegan options. read more

Came here on a Monday afternoon and was seated right away. It was a beautiful day in the bay so we opted to be seated outdoors and what a view and secluded neighborhood. The space was spacious indoors and outdoors probably can seat maybe 18 people between all the tables. We ordered Thai tea and coconut water for drinks and both were delicious and refreshing. For appetizers we did calamari and Korean spicy/sweet wings. Calamari was okay nothing super special but wasn't bad! The wings were good in flavor. For entrees we got the chicken salad and I thought this was really good in flavor. Really brought me back to my childhood . Although they serve you heavy on the chicken but not so much cabbage. I'd love for there to be a bit more cabbage but that's just me :) we also ordered the lobster garlic noodles of course! And they give you 1 lobster tail with additional lobster in the dish which is a good amount and also the garlic noodles! It was drenched in sauce. Overall 8/10! Service was great as well. Yummy on the food and terrific on the view of the surrounding Marina. Hubby and I have gone several times now, and brought friends. A varied menu with good portions and friendly wait people. The outdoor patio is enclosed, so there's not too much of an issue with wind, but be careful of where you sit re: the sun. It can get too warm and in your eyes at the wrong time of day. We pretty much stayed with Pho, entrees and salads and so I can't comment on the fried food. I tasted everything from the table (I'm like that haha), and enjoyed the flavours. IMHO the prices for the dishes are more than reasonable. Come casual or fancy... it all works. Would recommend. read more

I've been wanting to try this place so we got take out here tonight. My partner got the grilled pork chops with white rice and I got the combination bun bowl with shrimp and pork. We also got an order of shrimp and pork spring rolls. The pork chops were bomb! The bun bowl was pretty good as well but the marinated daikon and carrots were a little on the sour side. The spring rolls were missing the mint that the menu said it included which was a bummer but it did come with some well made peanut sauce! This place has ample parking which is always a plus! I had a chilled glass of beer on tap that was refreshing. I ordered the garlic noodles and opted for the rib eye slices that accompanied it. The noodles were garlicky which was great. The rib eye was a relatively small portion but what do you expect for just a small surcharge. That price for chicken is the same. Go figure. I had the banana samosas with ice cream. The beef broth wasn't as good as previous, it sort of tasted like bouillon and water. The oxtails were meaty with a little too much fat. I did enjoy the calamari and the wing. I've been coming here since it's open. I've had about everything on the menu. Everything is a bit pricey. The pho (chicken, beef, surf & turf, veggie) has always been tasty. But never had the fixings but siracha and hoisin. The rice plates (short ribs, pork belly, bbq chicken) were good but chimmy on the rice. Garlic noodles has always been a favorite. The lobster garlic noodles is ok if you like more of a tomato sauce. Appetizers (spring rolls, calamari) were also really good. Salads are good portion to share and tastes ok. Mixed drinks were good. Thai tea has been good. For about 7 years, the food had not disappointed. Service has been good, seated right away. Staff is nice. UNTIL 9/5/2025, i decided to bring my toddler. Was able to order my toddler kid pho (it's not on the menu). I had the veggie garlic noodles. The pho always comes out fast. But as soon as the pho hit the table, I can smell a strong stench that smelled so fishy. I thought oh maybe it's the noodles. I then tried the noodles before giving to my kid. The noodles were hard. Left the pho alone. I tried my garlic noodles and there was a strong smell to that as well. Smelled rotten. Tasted it and it was ok. I stopped eating as I lost appetite from the smell. Waiter came over and I had them bring another bowl of pho out with softer noodles. (maybe this would fix the stench smell) NOPE, still smelled so bad that my kid wouldn't eat. My kid loves pho and never denies it. So that was it for us, we paid for our last time there and left. Took my kid to our usual pho spot and he ate all of his noodles. I went on a nice bike ride on the marina and was pleasantly surprised that there was a restaurant on grounds. I went in for a salad and was immediately greeted without a hello. The worker let me know that I couldn't bring my bike in. I let her know it would get stolen and I could break it down. She said there wouldn't be room for it. There were only 2 people on the patio. We stopped into Anh's after Christmas shopping at an art fair at Craneway. I'd heard of Anh's before and looked forward to trying it. Restaurant is located on the Richmond Marina with waterfront views. Entering the restaurant, the beautiful bar is the focal point with a small indoor dining area. A sliding glass door opens to the outside seating, which has expanded beyond the enclosed patio since COVID, I assume. We chose a table on the patio, and only two other tables were occupied at the time. We wanted a light lunch and shared the veggie imperial rolls, Chinese chicken salad, and garlic noodles with veggies. I've had imperial rolls at other Vietnamese restaurants, and was looking forward to the started. Sadly, the rolls were undercooked leaving a gooey chew to the wrapper. They were crispy on the outside, but that texture inside was not pleasing. As well, there was little filling and it didn't have flavor except for the very tasty sweet and spicy dipping sauce. Hubby and I shared the salad and noodles. The salad had a lot of veggies, fresh orange segments, and the chicken was tender. Topped with crispy wonton strips and served with a sesame dressing. All the makings of what was sure to be a delish salad, but somehow it left me wanting. I can't put my finger on it, but it was just average. I make a pretty mean Asian chicken salad myself, so maybe I expect more when dining out. And lastly, we had the garlic noodles, which are served with what appears to be thick udon noodles. I could see the fresh garlic in addition to the crispy garlic topper. Plenty of broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots were added as the veggie addition. Again, the flavor was lacking. I am stumped as to why, because I could see the garlic, and I could taste it, but it was still ho-hum. As we ate, most of the tables inside and out filled up. We saw what other diners ordered and some looked and smelled wonderful. I have to wonder if we just ordered the wrong items. We didn't select anything that Ahn's is known for, maybe that was our mistake. The service was very good-- all wait staff were friendly and helpful. We ate all of our food because it wasn't bad, just not great, and the team was lovely. We may come back and try some of the more popular dishes -- and enjoy the beautiful outdoor setting again. read more

I like coming here. It's one of the regular places my colleagues and I like to go to during work days. I usually order pho or bbq meat dishes here, but decided to try shaking beef this time. I think I like the pho and grilled meats better than the shaking beef. Usually shaking beef at other Vietnamese places are dry, but this one is saucy, almost like a sweet and sour sauce. While the service and ambiance were pleasant on a beautiful Saturday, the food was disappointing. We started with the crab rolls, which were fine, though it was hard to tell whether there was actually crab in them. I ordered the chicken vermicelli bowl, but the chicken was unseasoned and missing the fresh herbs that typically accompany a bun dish. The nuoc cham sauce was one-dimensional and lacked the usual sweet and tangy brightness, and no sriracha or other condiments were offered. My husband ordered the shaking beef, which was also under seasoned and overall quite bland. The Richmond Marina has a nice walkway that starts where the ferry disembarks and wraps around the marina and toward the marshlands where it continues the Bay Trail. It's a pretty good walk, flat and paved, so I can work up an appetite if I pick up the pace. Little girls in pigtails pass me by, and they're not even on scooters. The last thing I expected to find was a full-fledged Vietnamese restaurant. It's more contemporary than the ones you can find along San Pablo Avenue, but it also felt quite a bit pricier perhaps due to all the yacht owners. The menu was pretty robust with Vietnamese favorites from rice plates to garlic noodles to entree salads. I was particularly intrigued by the $22 Oxtail Pho where several slowly simmered oxtails were placed in a bowl packed with rice noodles. The food itself was a 50/50 for me. The pork belly dish I ordered was delicious while my husband's shaken beef dish was not. The flavor profile on the shaken beef is not one I would call standard. This place is really cute and on the waterfront so you get really nice views. It was not busy on a Thursday night when we came in at 6:30 PM. The ladies serving us were very nice and attentive. We ordered the mango papaya salad, which was tasty and fresh. We also ordered the vermicelli with tofu and garlic noodles with vegetables. They have great vegetarian options and substitutions. I highly recommend the garlic noodles as they have a really good flavor. Six dollars does seem like a lot to add on a few vegetables. However, I can understand that the location being really nice, prices are higher. They also have a good wine selection and full bar if you are interested in getting drinks. I believe there's also happy hour if you come earlier. Nice to come here to eat if you are visiting the Richmond waterfront which we were for the infinite space show. Prices are $15-18 per dish, wine $12. decent amount of parking but other restaurants in the area so might have to get street parking on busier days. Safe quiet neighborhood. read more

Me and my mom were allowed into this restaurant about 40 minutes before closing, and the service was still great. I ordered the chicken pho and my mom ordered the fried dumplings chicken. The broth marinates your tongue. The chicken is extremely delicious and cooked to perfection-- it doesn't take too much to chew it making it the perfect choice to put into the soup. There wasn't any or much chicken fat in my order making this a high quality meal. I added the basil leaves, lemon, and hoisin sauce, and I can tell you that for these last 15 minutes even after eating I feel extremely energized. I highly recommend coming here, especially if you are feeling low on energy, need a recovery meal, or at least order the takeout if you're feeling sick because this will definitely revive you like it did to me.
