Duck fried rice and Lao style #17. Papaya Salad (Som Tam)
    Karen K.

Hands down the best Thai in the area. Even when we order DoorDash to the office it still tastes the same. If you ask for extra spicy they deliver and it comes with habanero peppers which we love. The fried rice or anything that comes with rice is made with basmati rice! By far one of the best duck fried rice and Lao style papaya salad I've had. Everything we order is always 5 stars. The service and ambiance are lovely. Don't skip this place when you're in the the area.

The food, service, and ambiance is great!!! I've come here often for a year now and I'll say this is my favorite restaurant in Richmond! David is so nice, he treats his regulars very well.

Good food and excellent customer service. We loved the flavorful spicy wings appetizer and couldn't get enough of the sauce it was tossed in. We also enjoyed the Eggplant with chicken, Praram Long with chicken, and the Crab Fried Rice. It was nice that each dish came with a little side salad on each plate. Ended our dinner perfectly with the delicious mango sticky rice. The owner Dave was very hospitable. We will be coming back to try other dishes.

We have been to Sala Thai many times- and thought it was time for a review! What we got: Bbq Pork Crispy Shrimp Pad see ew - sub onions and mushrooms (no cabbage or broccoli) Bbq Salmon (forgot the pic of this) As usual- everything was fabulous! We have never had a bad meal here. It is delicious every time! The owner is friendly and funny! And the space is very welcoming! If you are craving delicious Thai food- give Sala a try -you won't be sorry! P.S. I need to come here more often!

Everything is good here, as far as what we have tasted. Had lunch Christmas Eve and it was very satisfying and delicious. Service is great, a little pricey but overall it's worth it. Local neighborhood and we will support them anytime we want fresh rolls and good curry. Atmosphere is good not too crowded so we liked that.

The host was great and the ambiance was perfect not too loud or quiet. Now, the food was AMAZING, we were surprised of how amazing everything was. Wish the food we ordered would come around the same time but other than that, it was fucking delicious! Would definitely recommend and will be coming back!

Hidden gem in El Sobrante that serves up some of the best Laotian and Thai food in the Bay Area…read more Every time we visit, must-orders are the Nam Khao (crispy rice ball salad with fermented pork sausage and fresh herbs) and Ka Soy (Laotian noodle soup). If you see Nam Khao on the menu of a Laotian/Thai restaurant, that means they know what they are doing just because it's so labor-intensive to make a salad(!) and the fermented pork has to be damn-near perfect for this salad to really shine and round out the fresh herbs and seasonings which includes lime juice, vinegar, and fish sauce. Ka Soy (the noodle soup) is a comfort food enjoyed in Southeast Asia. It's not the Thai-style where it's a curry broth and the noodles are fried, so let's not get it mixed up. Instead, it's bone broth that been simmered for hours and it's somewhat a lighter broth. The noodles are wide rice noodles in a big bowl of hot broth served with a mixture of ground pork cooked down with tomatoes along with fresh bean sprouts, scallions, and cilantro - simply a divine noodle soup that a must-try. It's not overly complex in terms of flavor, but it's a bowl of good ol' noodle soup that is comforting and great-tasting. If you haven't tried Laotian food, give Sue's Kitchen a try. try some new flavors and you may just become a regular (if you aren't already). The owners are friendly too! It's a husband-and-wife team!

My parents came here last year and said the food was good BUT the crab fried rice was fishy so... I decided to just get regular fried rice and chicken wings. I was really looking forward to it since they have such high ratings but boy was I WRONG. My dad even called it, "I don't trust ordering from restaurants within 45minutes of them closing because they like to rush it." Also, "15 minutes seems too quick for them to cook the food" Well yeah my dad was 100000% right! The chicken tasted as if it was cooked then REFRIED. The meat was dry as he**. The skin was too hard and just unpleasant. The fried rice was disgusting. It didn't even taste like fried rice. If anything it had a weird taste and a dash of pepper. My mom said it literally tasted like BENS RICE OUT OF A BOILED BAG! No eggs even were in it! I'm just so pissed because this was supposed to be our dinner after an 8+ hour drive. I will be calling to request a refund since they closed after we received our food back at the hotel. I had to just throw the whole thing away! Yeeeeeucccckkkk

We'd also recommend (quite literally anything else). We also loved the Thai Arnold Palmer. Service feels like home. Respectful, friendly, kind and prompt. Ambience is busy during lunch! We ordered chicken satay to start (comes with a nice helping of peanut sauce and cucumber salad), a pad Thai for the table with tofu, and a few lunch plates including the yellow curry, pad krapow, and spicy eggplant. Everything was packed full of flavor, and they bring a spice/sauce tray out to the table if you need to bring your dish up a notch. The lunch special comes also with a 2-piece appetizer like potstickers, egg rolls, and curry puffs which I thought was a nice touch. I usually get either the garlic noodles with steak, whole pompano fish, grilled lamb, lamb shank, or their crispy fried chicken. They're all super good. If you're new, I would suggest the garlic noodles with steak (they're super generous with the meat) Their appetizers are also pretty good too. My only gripe is prices have increased quite a bit over the past years but I guess that is every establishment in the Bay.
