    Restaurant

Let me start by saying that I have patronized this business for years, often buying food for office parties, and everything was fine. Today I looked CJs up online and placed an order for a three way combination based on the published price of $27. However, when I went to pick up my order I was told it was $44. I then showed the young man what i found online and he said "you gotta go on help, I can't do anything with that." He did, however, say I can take $40, but that's it. When I said I wasn't going to pay that he said ok, no problem. Needless to say, I won't be going back. Here is what I used to place my order

    Catfish nuggets, baked beans, yams
    Norma L.

Ive driven by this place few times and doing my second job and decided to stop in between gigs. CASH only. There is an ATM in the place. I haven't had catfish in a while and settled on the catfish nuggets, which comes with two sides. The standards available are fries, coleslaw, Mac salad, baked beans. For extra they got yams, greens, and Mac n cheese. I settled on the yams, and baked beans. It's freshly made to order took about 10 mins. He showed it to me upon completion and it looked so delicious. And true to a BBQ it came with two slices of bread. The catfish was cooked perfectly, and a huge portion. The yams definitely home made. I was expecting just regular baked beans, but these were bbqed and so delicious, I'd just order a big side of these to dip my bread in. This is on my list of regular place to come when I have to work in the area.

    Beef and chicken dinner
    Breezy O.

It came highly recommended by an associate of mine who told me the barbecue there was really good so I said let me go ahead and make that 30 minute drive. The experience was very wonderful the meat was extremely tender not a lot of fat. The chicken was well cooked not a lot of fat and not a lot of gristle it was the actual meat. The first base hit was the beans I've never tasted beans that were that good vote they were slightly undercooked I must say overall they were really really good with that sauce. The second hit was the macaroni and cheese it had just the Right amount of cheese as well as flavor. The sauce is in a class all by itself. I took the mild sauce and it was sweet and yet savory without a strong vinegar taste it was really good. Very well executed food and service. Keep up the good work

These are the rib chips I was referring to.

I recommended we grab pho but with the initial pick being closed, we pivoted to Pho Nation! When we came for dinner, it was quiet. We were one of the only customers but a few diners were coming in and out for takeout. The restaurant is super casual with not much decor or detail to it. The service was just okay and a bit confusing. For those dining in, they give you a menu and you order with them but everything else you need to go to the counter for (pay, water, any requests). We also weren't checked on during our meal. For food, I had the Regular Chicken Breast Pho. Even being a regular, it was a massive portion that I took home! The broth was good but I was never given a spoon. The noodles were on the smaller end as if they were cut. When I received my bowl the noodles were all compact so my theory is they just dumped it in there and assumed the broth would break it up. The chicken was tender. Everything else was on the table such as utensils, sauce, and garnishes. My old manager said her dish was great! I can understand this might be a fave pho place for residents in the area but I'm not sure if I'd willingly go back. It was great to try and the food was good. My friend decided to get extra meat and that was an extra $4. They also gave her double the vegetables for an additional $4 and extra meat as well. Her Thai iced tea was quite expensive for $6. Usually restaurants charge about $4 for Thai iced tea. I got their tofu sandwich which was full of tofu and not enough vegetables. I personally would have prefer more vegetables and less tofu. I did not like their tofu because it is a pre-fried tofu which is probably sold at Ranch 99 and from overseas. That kind of tofu has a non- creamy and somewhat tough texture. It's a bit dry even though they braise it. I prefer non-fried tofu that is slightly sauteed maintaining the creamy tofu texture. This was overly processed tofu. I will not order their tofu sandwich again. I would like to try their chicken sandwich next time and hope that they give me more vegetables. It will be nice to try some of their noodle soups which everyone else was ordering except for our table. The service was pretty quick. Their bathroom had no amenities like toilet paper. I will come back but don't know when.

When we walked in, no staff was out front, so we stood around a bit before we were seated. The staff quickly disappeared again, and throughout our meal, they were usually disappeared somewhere in the back. If you want something quick like extra utensils or napkins, you may need to wait a bit before someone appears. When ordering, we wanted to try both the Beef Buzz ($14.99) and the Fried Beef Buzz ($15.99). The lady who took our order said they were the same thing, and offered to just give us one half/half order instead of ordering two of essentially the same dish. We agreed to that offer, but she didn't mention anything about how that'll be charged. Of course, we ended up being charged the higher price of $15.99. Not a huge deal, but some better communication there would've been appreciated. We also ordered the Beef Huushuur ($14.99). The Beef Huuchuur arrived first, and it didn't look anything like we expected. The photos from online reviews all looked it'd come in an empanada shape, but it actually came in a large, flat, circular shape. They were all laying against one another in a slanted position, and it made all the oil pool in the bottom of the dish, and the pieces that were covered became very oily and soggy underneath. The parts of the dough that weren't soggy were wonderfully crispy and delicious though. It'd make a significantly better difference if the Huuchuur were placed spread out from each other instead of lying on top of each other to maintain the crispiness on all surfaces. The beef filling was nicely seasoned and well flavored. The Beef Buzz had essentially the same filling as the Huuchuur, but different exterior. Unfortunately, I still have the same opinions of it being way too oily overall. The non-fried pieces sometimes broke apart at the bottom due to the sogginess. The fried version did not have a crispy texture at the bottom either, I'm guessing due to the excess amount of oil on the dish. Again, the flavors were great, but execution and presentation definitely has room for improvement. In summary, this was a great introduction to Mongolian dumplings for me. Very delicious flavors, and I'd love to try Huuchuurs again in the future because I love crispy fried foods with a good texture. However, I'd probably look for a place that goes way more easy on the oil.

The name of this nondescript takeout operation is actually its address on Macdonald Avenue. Ironically, the most popular place to eat in this neighborhood is McDonald's. I barely found it because it looks like a vacant storefront with a For Lease sign. A red OPEN sign was the only giveaway. I happened to read that this place offers some excellent Korean-style dishes. I think the menu can be more accurately described as global. It's apparently a mother-and-son business with the kitchen run by a Korean-American chef named Daniel who doesn't share his last name. His mother works the front of the house, and people order beforehand and come in for pick up. There's a community table presumably set up for dining, but the space felt more like a dental waiting area. Through the order window, I could see Daniel way in the back beyond a passthrough. I used their QR code to review the menu and order on the spot. All the entrees appeared enticing including Grilled Short Rib and Fried Pitman Farms Chicken. I chose the $24.50 Market Grain Salad. It was beautifully presented even in a takeout box (Photo 9). There was a mix of arugula, iceberg, romaine, and Treviso radicchio at the base topped with visual jewels: Fuji apple, Sonia Rojas cara cara orange, blood orange, mandarin orange, muscat grapes, and avocado. Further toppings included spring onion., tarragon, sunflower seeds, English cucumber, heirloom carrots, and French breakfast radish. Farro, red quinoa, and French feta cheese added more layers of flavor and texture. Harissa grilled Pitman Farms chicken provided a succulent serving of protein, and a unique sesame soy lemon chili dressing finished off a masterful creation. It was an impeccable salad. The $11 Skin On Gaufrette Fries were cross-cut and impossibly tender with a tasty dipping sauce (Photo 6). A genuine winner!
