We went there on a Friday afternoon about 45min after opening so it was a bit empty. It was quiet and with a few people. It felt embarrassing when my son would scream, but he's a baby. We were greeted and asked if we needed a high chair for my son which we said yes, and where told to sit anywhere. After our water was brought, we ordered. I order pad thai, fried chicken with fried rice and drunken noodles. The food in itself was okay. It wasn't out of this world so to speak. Thennnnnn comes the best part. I am packing our left over food and my husband went to pay. As he came back and waiting standung next to me, an older woman who brought us our food- not our waitress, asks me the service was good. Confused I say "of course it was good! Thank you so much". And she goes "if the service was good why didn't you leave a tip?" Confused, because I didn't pay. My husband says "I didn't know tipping was mandatory". To which she says "if you dine in you're supposed to tip because we brought you your food but if you do take out you don't." And she adds, "just leave anything". I look at my husband and asked if he had cash. Which he didn't. And I left a tip. To say, this would be the last time we go. read more

I really wanted to give this place 2 stars to consider the friendliness of the staff. The food is ok. I could do better if I wasn't so busy that day. Anyway, gave it a try and got fried rice and chicken. Paid $37 plus credit card fee $1.22 (I used debit and I wasn't made aware of the fee. This is not legal as far as law goes) plus tax. And so I ended up paying $42. I really don't mind paying for that amount but I just cannot say it's worth that. read more

Mediocre Food, Outrageous Prices The food was mediocre, especially considering the outrageous prices. We spent $120 on just four dishes, and the portions were shockingly small. There was barely any food on the plates. See the picture attached that was $20! To make matters worse, rice doesn't even come with the curry dishes, you have to order it separately. We didn't realize this until we got home, so we ended up having to make our own rice just to have something to eat with the curry. For the price, I expected much better food, larger portions, and at the very least, rice included with the curry dishes. Definitely not worth $120. read more

I love the richness of thai spices and if you ask them to serve "hot" "thai hot" they really deliver! The cooking is not too sweet unlike most americanized thai restaurant food. Seriously delicious Thai food! The complementary soup at the start of the meal really hits the spot and gets your appetite going for the main course. We had the pumpkin red curry and pad Thai, both were extremely good! This is a smaller, Mom and pop Thai food restaurant that has a lovely ambience with great service. We got there right when they opened at 5pm. The place was pretty empty. It was clean and nicely decorated. The waitress was very nice and seated us. We sat down and perused the menu. We order the stuffed chicken as an appetizer and our entrees. The stuffed chicken was really good. Shortly after we arrived the place got super busy. All the tables were full and there were lots of to-go orders. There was only 1 waitress in the dining room. She soon was overwhelmed with all the tables being full. It was strange that my entree came out before our appetizer came out. Then my friends order came out after the appetizer. My DH had to wait at least 5 minutes after everyone else had been served before his entree came out. The pace of service wasn't very good. I ordered the green papaya salad and added grilled shrimp to it. I found the salad to be rather small and really salty. It was ok, but I only got 3 shrimps, so I was still hungry after I ate. My friends got the pad ta la and red pumpkin which they really liked. My DH got a Thai iced tea and the ribs both were good. We order the mango sticky rice for dessert and at the same time asked for our check. We ended up not waiting for the dessert. We ordered it and after about 25 minutes we asked to cancel it because my friends needed to go to a play at the high school. I had to get up and basically follow the waitress around to get our check. I was visiting my friend and he wanted to check out a few places on his radar. This was recommended to him, so I joined him to try this place out. The dining area is quite a bit small, but we still got sat right away. There seemed to be only one server at the time, but she did her best to check in with all of us. Combo Plate: This gives you a bit of everything to split easily with two people. I got to try the shrimp egg roll, re guy lay egg roll, fried tofu, chicken satay and a curry puff. I will say this is a great starter to the meal. If you can't decide what to get, I recommend this to get an idea of what you will like and what you won't. For me, I would consider the fried tofu or the curry puff to get. Pad Ma-Kur: This is there eggplant entree. I got it with chicken and I loved this. It was not too salty and the sauce was not too runny or overly thick. The eggplant was cooked perfectly for me and there was plenty of onions, bell peppers and protein for me to enjoy my meal. I also love the heart shaped rice they serve to you. I would get this dish again for sure. Overall, I had a nice time here. Wait time was a bit long after we sat, but the food was worth it to me. I have to admit I've been a complete snob. The fact that this place is located in a small plaza near a liquor store was probably the only reason I never gave it a second thought. My husband and I came here for a Sunday lunch to keep it local and small. We were greeted by a friendly server who seated us immediately. We ordered the Bangkok spicy wings, the gang dang kha (red curry with chicken) and crab fried rice. We also ordered the coconut milk soup and pad thai to-go to take home to our sons. As we waited, we were served some house soup, which I could best describe as chicken broth with rice. It was delicious and hit the spot immediately. I was pleasantly surprised by that welcoming nice touch. Our food came and I loved the gang dang and the spicy wings. The crab fried rice was also yummy- I was able to taste the fresh crab meat. I was really happy with our meal. Later, I had a spoonful of the coconut milk soup and I was legitimately excited and happy that I finally found a Thai spot that hit all my criteria for what I consider to be "good!" Ever since moving away from Pinole, this is one of the restaurants I miss the most and always get when I'm nearby! The food is great and consistent. The service is always great, however when it is busy they do slack a little bit it's understandable. The ambiance is great and I love how they always play jazz music. read more

They are very considerate of customers allergies, they had the peanuts on the side instead of putting them in the sauce. I got an order to go for curry chicken. It had no carrots in it. Only vegetables were potato and onions.

I was eating completly enjoying my food (yellow chicken curry) until I bit into what felt like a piece of ceramic/glass. I wasn't done eating my food, but Oh gosh it through me into a panic mentally but I remained respectful and silent about it since their were other folks around me eating. I called the young lady over who took my order to let her know and she took a look at it and told me maybe it was a clam schell I told her do you put clams in chicken curry? She said no but folded the napkin and took it away began to clear off other tables for guest and I thought she would come back with a fresh new order or comp my meal or even apologize but no she completely dismissed my complaint walking around with an attitude as if it was my fault that I found that in my food. So I brought my plate to her I told her how I felt and she looked at me with anger and told me I just contaiminated her area by bringing her my plate. I wanted to yell at the top of my lungs from the disrespect but instead I politely told her I will never come back and give me my check. Thai Spice is located in a tiny strip mall on Pinole Valley Road and has parking in front for cars. It was once served by DoorDash but no longer. Now, it is pick up or dine in only. So to order food. Just call them. It seems to be a nice small mother- daughter owned spot with additional wait staff. Their Thai coffee and tea are delicious as is the sticky rice with mango. I like to order these items with my entree of which I have several favorites. I've been ordering takeout from here for a while, and I've noticed the portions keep getting smaller. My vermicelli order had barely any protein--just one piece of grilled pork sliced into 7 thin pieces, 2 small shrimp, and an overwhelming amount of noodles--all for $15. There were some but it wasn't enough. It's also a bit saucy which I like to. There is a 50 cents surcharge if your order is less than $15 as a heads up though. I came there on a Sunday evening and it was honestly busy. Service was good but had to wait a big due to this. If you're ordering to go, it's best to call ahead. Best Spice In Town: Thai Spice is a cozy little place that is located near the Pinole Valley High School. For many years this has been the best Thai restaurant locally. Not only the food taste great but the place is always clean, cozy and the customer service is always good. Check it out when you get a chance. Last week we dined in for lunch and we ordered the usual red curry over a heart-shaped rice and a Spicy chicken curry noodles with vegetables that I never tried before. And whoa, it will not be the last time I order this. The red curry looked good and tasted just as good. I used this curry as my baseline to compare other curries from other Thai places. As for the Spicy Chicken Curry noodles, it was delicious and flavorful. It reminded me of a curry ramen that I had before. The broth made this baby delicious. I think if I just had the broth and a cup rice, I would have been a happy camper as well. When you get chance and crave for some Thai food, check out Thai Spice in Pinole. My boyfriend and I just recently moved to Richmond and of course we had to look around to see what kind of food places we had around us. I had been told by a couple people to try Thai Spice. Finally we tried it out. My boyfriend and I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai. I ordered mild spicy and he ordered medium spicy. I don't do well with spicy and the mild is perfect for me. I tried my boyfriends and yesss it was spicy. This is my go to place for Thai food! I have been stuck on the pad thai so I haven't tried anything else but eventually I will get around to trying other items. The ladies that work at the front are super friendly and on top of it. This place always has a constant flow of people coming in and out. I advise to always order your food ahead of time. You never know if one day they will be super busy. Make sure when you decide to go here to look at the hours of operation. One day I was craving this place I was going to order some food but saw that they were closed. They are opened everyday from 11am-3pm then close until they reopen at 5pm-9pm. Great spot for Thai food! read more
