Green chicken curry and brown rice
    Leticia C.

We went Sunday for the first time. The place is clean and the food is good. The flavors are not intense. Nothing was spicy. We had papaya salad, green chicken curry and rice. It's family style and portions are bigger than at other places. Service could be better. There aren't too many employees in the dining area. They disappear into the kitchen.

Best summary: exceptional food marred by nonexistent service. We were seated around 6:50 and were provided menus. We were not seen again until 7:04 for our orders. Water and drink order did not come until 7:18. The glaring issue was that they only had 1 person managing the tables. They'd disappear to the back every time we tried to get their attention. The lack of service really soured the whole experience.

The food and service was excellent. Loved the ambience and the music too. The dessert to die for :) mango sticky rice :)

We walked in and waited about five minutes with no one in sight to seat us, even though we could hear staff talking and laughing in the kitchen behind the curtain. Someone eventually came out and told us to sit in the corner. My wife had to ask for menus, and then we waited another ten minutes without any service. There were two other tables already seated, and we noticed the server only started taking their orders after we had been there for about 15 minutes with no attention at all. At that point, we decided to leave and went to Thai Spice instead.

    Pad Thai and green curry

My husband and I had lunch here the weekend of December 20th. It was good. We'll be back. I had Pad Thai with chicken. It was prepared well but lacked fresh bean sprouts or shredded carrots and there wasn't any tofu included which I thought was odd. The pad Thai I typically get at other places usually includes all those ingredients. Anyway it was a generous portion and the tamarind sauce was delicious. My husband ordered the green curry with white rice. It came with Thai iced tea. I had a taste and it was very good. The vegetables were fresh and al dente and the chicken was tender. It too was a generous portion. The food was good, the service was friendly. The prices were typical of the neighborhood. I deducted a star for lack of caffeine free beverages. I had a choice of lemonade or water. No herbal tea.

Hidden gem in El Sobrante that serves up some of the best Laotian and Thai food in the Bay Area…read more Every time we visit, must-orders are the Nam Khao (crispy rice ball salad with fermented pork sausage and fresh herbs) and Ka Soy (Laotian noodle soup). If you see Nam Khao on the menu of a Laotian/Thai restaurant, that means they know what they are doing just because it's so labor-intensive to make a salad(!) and the fermented pork has to be damn-near perfect for this salad to really shine and round out the fresh herbs and seasonings which includes lime juice, vinegar, and fish sauce. Ka Soy (the noodle soup) is a comfort food enjoyed in Southeast Asia. It's not the Thai-style where it's a curry broth and the noodles are fried, so let's not get it mixed up. Instead, it's bone broth that been simmered for hours and it's somewhat a lighter broth. The noodles are wide rice noodles in a big bowl of hot broth served with a mixture of ground pork cooked down with tomatoes along with fresh bean sprouts, scallions, and cilantro - simply a divine noodle soup that a must-try. It's not overly complex in terms of flavor, but it's a bowl of good ol' noodle soup that is comforting and great-tasting. If you haven't tried Laotian food, give Sue's Kitchen a try. try some new flavors and you may just become a regular (if you aren't already). The owners are friendly too! It's a husband-and-wife team!

One of the best Thai restaurants hands and knees down…read more This place consistently delivers some of the best Thai food around, and it never disappoints. Every single dish is amazing, and even though I've developed my go-to staples, there's always something new worth trying. Favorites include the sum woo sen (clear bean thread noodle salad) and the stir-fried eggplant, but honestly, there are so many standout dishes that it's hard to narrow it down. Beyond the food, what really makes this restaurant special is the people behind it. The owner is incredibly friendly, humble, and clearly works nonstop day and night to make sure everything is just right. His wife, the chef, consistently turns out flavorful, thoughtful dishes that you can tell are made with care and pride. They're also very clean and did I say friendly? They make you feel like family or a friend. I also work for a company that regularly orders from here, and we're far from the only ones. Large companies like Chevron, Bio-Rad, Kaiser, and many others frequently order as well. Even more impressive, although the restaurant is located in Richmond, companies in Daly City and other cities 20+ miles away go out of their way to order from here. That alone says a lot. This is a small, lovely Thai restaurant that is truly doing its thing by earning loyal customers, making waves well beyond its neighborhood, and absolutely deserving of the praise it gets. Highly recommended. David and wife, you guys rock! The food, service and friendliness totally satisfies every single time.

Every dish I've had has been thoughtful, balanced, and clearly made with care. On top of that, the people here are genuinely wonderful- pleasant, attentive, and kind in a way that feels authentic, not performative. It's the kind of place that makes you want to come back, not just for the food, but for how welcome you feel. An outstanding family restaurant.
