I was heartbroken when Won Thai Cuisine closed their business a few months ago. I was glad the replacement was offering the same type of food that been feeding Hercules. After ordering Pad Thai from this place I finally got the chance to dine inside Aroy Thai Bistro in Hercules. I will say that having lunch inside was a good choice because it was relaxing. Inside Aroy Thai Bistro is amazing with the tables arrangement (booth or four chair table). I love how beautiful the restaurant is inside. I had great service at Aroy Thai Bistro. The server Nan double check if I was doing OK with my lunch or I needed more water. The Yellow Curry for lunch was amazing. Arrange with a salad and vegetable roll with rice were great. Husband and I decided to try now that this place is under new ownership. He had the tofu and veggies in peanut sauce with brown rice. He liked it but wanted less cabbage and more tofu. I had a salad with silver noodles and minced chicken and lime dressing. I got very little chicken but two large shrimp. Overall it was good but spicier than expected. I asked for level 2 out of 5. We had mango sticky rice for dessert--yum!! The service was spot on! The ambiance is good, not special. The background music was nice if you like smooth jazz. I was craving pad Thai and was delighted to discover this was nearby! As always, food is served in a family-style portion so I definitely had leftovers that I was happily eating throughout the week. I came on a busier day, 2 cooks in the back and only 1 server who was responsible for a larger party and 3 other small tables and takeout orders. Because of this, I believe my food and the service was much slower but I didn't mind or fault them for it. Welcome to Hercules Aroy Thai Bistro! Aroy replaced Won Thai in the Willows Plaza and brought a more modern interior with tasty Thai grub. Tried their lunch takeout with my family today for the first time and overall enjoyed it. The takeout was neatly packaged in plastic takeout containers and those with sauce in a plastic bag just in case of leakage. Some of the portions seemed a bit small and could have used more of the protein but each of the dishes packed a flavor punch and it was just enough to feed 4 people. -Crab fried rice -honey garlic wings -eggplant with chicken - pad see ew with shrimp -salmon Penang curry Very tasty - give them a try! My second visit to this new Thai restaurant since they opened last month, and this time I invited a friend to join me. We ordered the Krapow Moo Krob, Nam Khao Salad, Tom Yum Soup, Crab Fried Rice, Crispy Pork, and Fried Catfish with Stir-Fried Basil. Everything was absolutely delicious. The Tom Yum Soup was excellent, not watery at all, with the perfect balance of umami, sweetness, and sourness without being overly tart. The Krapow Moo Krob was outstanding; the crispy pork was perfectly crunchy and paired beautifully with the flavorful sauce. The Crispy Pork was cooked to perfection, remaining crispy with every bite. The food continues to be authentic, flavorful, and consistently delicious. The hospitality and service were excellent as well. Everything here was amazing, pretty good Thai spot in rodeo, definitely worth checking out. We had the pad Thai, and the Thai beef noodles were my favorite ! I wish they gave me a little more soup for the Thai beef noodles bc the noodles do soak all the soup. One thing I would suggest is that they have the sauce condiments but no spoons for it! Party of two went around 3pm on a weekend. It is where Won Thai used to be. Modern interior, nice playlist. We enjoyed the grilled pork neck with tamarind dipping sauce. It paired well with the sticky rice we ordered. The crab fried rice was delicious as well, you can taste real crab. The sweet and sour fish is a must try. I liked how crispy the fish was and how it was not drenched in sweet and sour sauce. The roti was the perfect end to the meal. I am already looking forward to trying their other dishes! read more

Had a wonderful experience here in Hercules. We tried the coconut shrimp, fried calamari, chicken satay, spicy catfish, fried chicken fried rice, and mango sticky rice, and everything was delicious. The chicken satay stood out--it was juicy and flavorful, not dry at all, and served with peanut sauce and pickled cucumbers that complemented it perfectly. The fried chicken fried rice was also very satisfying, with great flavor and crispy fried chicken on top. The mango sticky rice was a great way to end the meal. Used to be called "Won Thai Cuisine". After a name change and upscale remodel this is still one of our favorite Thai restaurants in Contra Costa. The restaurant is quiet, relaxing, and has attentive service. The food tastes authentic and has lots of flavor. Everything tastes fresh and reminds me of Thai food in San Francisco. We've already ordered food from here like 6 times in the last month. Legitimate Thai cuisine which has an authentic flavor that is also not intimidating so if you aren't as adventurous they have the easy staples. Par Thai is my cup of tea here and reminds me of the pad Thai I use to get when I was still a student at Cal (Berkeley don't play with international food options- some of the best out there and good prices). Pad Thai for some reason is my judgement factor for Thai (for me only, I know it shouldn't be the marker for a great Thai restaurant). I love how this place makes it a great balance of sweet, umami and hint of acidic/sour. They don't drown it with ketchup (trust me I've had that and it's not great). Curries and the bbq meat are perfection. Not watered down and seasoning on point. My 6 year old loves their fried rice. My go to Thai now around here! My family are very picky about Thai food. We only favor one restaurant in our neighborhood but we gave Aroy a try with a little bit of hesitation. The moment we entered it gave us the vibe that we will have a good experience. The place is clean and the decor is just right not overwhelming. The lady who welcomed us is very warm and friendly. Now comes the food part. Fried wings is 10/10. Papaya salad is 10/10. Basil chicken is 10/10. Pad Thai with pork is 10/10. Tom yum soup with seafood is 10/10. Aroy Thai Bistro is a Hidden Gem! I went to Aroy Thai Bistro for lunch and left beyond impressed. The new owner has clearly put real thought into the pricing, flavors, and presentation -- everything felt fresh, generous, and thoughtfully done. APPETIZERS I started with the honey garlic chicken wings. These were big, meaty wings (not the tiny cheap ones) with a perfect sweet-and-sour taste. Really, really good. I also tried the street-food crispy garlic pork with sticky rice. The pork and batter were surprisingly soft and tender, the Thai-style dipping sauce had that great sweet-and-sour balance, and the sticky rice came hot in a cute little pouch. Such a nice touch. The iced coffee with Thai cream was outstanding -- sweet, strong, with a nice hint of mocha. It reminded me of Vietnamese coffee and was the perfect refreshing drink. MAIN COURSE For my main, I got the Pad Thai as part of the lunch special. The tofu was noticeably fresh (most places serve old, dry tofu, so this stood out big time). The lunch special is an absolute steal at only $15 -- it comes with the Pad Thai, a salad, and an egg roll. You easily get a full meal plus leftovers. Exceptional value! Then there was the fried chicken fried rice -- huge portion of egg fried rice with onion. The chicken was perfectly cooked, soft inside with good batter, and it came with extra Thai-style dipping sauce on the side. Everything had strong portions, so I ended up needing a to-go box. The restaurant itself is recently renovated and extremely clean. The ambiance is calming with soft music and beautiful soft yellow lantern lights on the ceiling -- perfect for a relaxed meal. Service was quick, attentive, informative, and very friendly. You can tell the team actually cares. If you're looking for generous, flavorful Thai food at a fair price, Aroy Thai Bistro is worth it. I was a part of a large group, about 10 of us. The single waitress was very attentive and the food was the best Thai food I have had! The waitress must have overheard a conversation I had with my friend, who reminded me that as a large group there was a 20% tip automatically added to the bill, and I had just paid the bill and added a nice tip, not realizing that the tip was included.
