Great little pho place in a strip mall in Pinole. The store interior is nothing to write about but the fact it'll be packed even on a weekday night will tell you there's something special. Their secret sauce is a lot of good food at a decent price. Had a pho craze for dinner and ordered a Banh mi sandwich for lunch the next day. Both were great. Not the most excellent write home to mom great but very decent and very filling. Four stars is I'll go again if I'm in the hood and five stars is I'll drive out of my way to of there. Without a doubt, the worst Vietnamese food I've ever had. Ordered the shrimp and pork bowl with spring roll. Everything came out was ice cold and came out within two minutes of ordering it showing that everything was pre-cooked. There was so much salt on the pork that I would've had less sodium if I had licked a cows salt block. We had spring rolls to start off with that fell apart when we picked them up as they were stuck together for probably a couple months in the back room. Their peanut sauce looked like watery brown glue, and had zero taste. Do yourself a favor and don't ever go to this restaurant not only where you have bad food. I was pretty much done with the BBH when the vermicelli came out and I ended up giving my mom the BBH and we ate almost all the Banh Xeo when the vermicelli came out. We ended up taking that home like the entire thing because it came out so late. I believe she forgot and that's why it came out *THAT* late. It didn't make sense because everyone else around us got their food before we did and we got in earlier than them. Water was never refilled. My BBH looked clear, usually it's red but it was still relatively tasty and lots of good lemongrass flavor. Decent amount of meat, and had a big ole chunk of tendon which is the best. No fish sauce on the table. Ban Xeo was good, Ifeel like it's hard to mess it up. Vermicelli was OK, but the portion was good. Prices are high compared to SoCal. read more

As far as the food, the combo bahn mi hardly had anything in it. The chicken and beef pho was very oily. The #9 hardly had any rare steak in it. The meats have good flavor and they stock them up with jalapenos, cilantro, cucumber, daikon and carrot "pickle", and the bread is about 1.5" longer than other places. They actually use a baguette type of bread that is always crispy on the outside and soft and fresh inside. The other items are also delicious and generous. We arrived just before 12 and there were a few tables open. I ended up ordering the shaking cube beef with garlic rice. The dish came with pickled carrots and daikon, with a side of salt/pepper and lime. The beef was very tender and cooked well. I thought it was seasoned just right, even without the salt/pepper. The pickled carrots and daikon tasted crisp and fresh, cutting through the fattiness and oil of the dish. The dish came with a lot of rice and compliments the meat well. I do wish there was more of a garlic taste in the rice and that there was more beef, as the meat portion seemed smaller. Staff was very nice and prompt with service, even with 2 people coming in late. The restaurant is spacious and was getting packed towards the middle of our meal. Unfortunately, today was a bit of an off day for them in other areas. I have added some photos for your perusal. PHOTO #... 1. There is always plenty of parking in the area in the parking lot. We walked there the five minutes from the local Planet Fitness. The Grand Entrance with outdoor seating. 2. Inside you are quickly pointed to one of the about 25 tables. 3, 4, 5. Today most of the tables are waiting to be bussed (first time I've seen this here) and the employee tries to sit us in a already crowded corner. We balk and are assigned a what looks to be clean table in a less crouded corner. Our table has rice on the chair and table. .....You place your order at your table and pay at the counter 6,7.. My beef stew doesn't exactly look the menu photo but close enough. 8. Spring rolls are consistently tasty and refreshing every visit. 9,10.. Chicken Pho menu photo and reality photo. 11, 12.. Both the Beef stew and the Pho are served hot and tasty with plenty of meat and noodles. 13.. Vietnamese drip coffee and Coke for drinks. The coffee is pre-prepared. I prefer the old school coffee where you get to watch it drip at the table. They only charge $2 for the Coke. Other restaurants try to rake you over the coals on Coke prices. 14.. Halfway through my lunch and they are almost cought up bussing the tables. ...the food server and table busser stay busy and provide good service. Looks like the business needs another employee on the floor or they have decided to let their customers look at the clutter during busy times. 15, 16, The establishment has separate restrooms for both Ladies and Gentlemen. Today the men's restroom is needing cleanup. Though there is a scrub brush next to it, the toilet hasn't had a visit from the brush in quite a while. The seat liner and towel dispensers are empty today. They have one of those electric hand dryers that usually end with drying your hands on your pants. Have fun figuring out how to exit the room without touching the door knob. 17.. Several tables around the restaurant have had their wobble mended with this invention. Someone should patent this dewobbler and go on the Shark Tank TV show with it. 18.. The meal was satisfying and I'm taking this delicious broth home with me. 19. With one cashier manning the phone, doing to go orders etc., you may need to wait in line to pay. 20.. With inflation, $42 wasn't bad for the food, considering how full and satisfied with the meal we are.
