We got there right when they opened at 5pm. The place was pretty empty. It was clean and nicely decorated. The waitress was very nice and seated us. We sat down and perused the menu. We order the stuffed chicken as an appetizer and our entrees. The stuffed chicken was really good. Shortly after we arrived the place got super busy. All the tables were full and there were lots of to-go orders. There was only 1 waitress in the dining room. She soon was overwhelmed with all the tables being full. It was strange that my entree came out before our appetizer came out. Then my friends order came out after the appetizer. My DH had to wait at least 5 minutes after everyone else had been served before his entree came out. The pace of service wasn't very good. I ordered the green papaya salad and added grilled shrimp to it. I found the salad to be rather small and really salty. It was ok, but I only got 3 shrimps, so I was still hungry after I ate. My friends got the pad ta la and red pumpkin which they really liked. My DH got a Thai iced tea and the ribs both were good. We order the mango sticky rice for dessert and at the same time asked for our check. We ended up not waiting for the dessert. We ordered it and after about 25 minutes we asked to cancel it because my friends needed to go to a play at the high school. I had to get up and basically follow the waitress around to get our check. I think overall the food was ok, I would eat there again but I wouldn't order the same thing. I would also go knowing that it might be a long wait to get food and or the check.

34. Pad Ma-Kur Lunch (Eggplant Chicken)

I was visiting my friend and he wanted to check out a few places on his radar. This was recommended to him, so I joined him to try this place out. The dining area is quite a bit small, but we still got sat right away. There seemed to be only one server at the time, but she did her best to check in with all of us. Combo Plate: This gives you a bit of everything to split easily with two people. I got to try the shrimp egg roll, re guy lay egg roll, fried tofu, chicken satay and a curry puff. I will say this is a great starter to the meal. If you can't decide what to get, I recommend this to get an idea of what you will like and what you won't. For me, I would consider the fried tofu or the curry puff to get. Pad Ma-Kur: This is there eggplant entree. I got it with chicken and I loved this. It was not too salty and the sauce was not too runny or overly thick. The eggplant was cooked perfectly for me and there was plenty of onions, bell peppers and protein for me to enjoy my meal. I also love the heart shaped rice they serve to you. I would get this dish again for sure. Overall, I had a nice time here. Wait time was a bit long after we sat, but the food was worth it to me. I look forward to coming back here.

Inedible duck plate. Boneless it says in the description but it's actually hard as bones.

Their duck, forget about it, it's dry like jerky and gross it's barely duck. I am so disappointed that their curry came in a box and spilled everywhere in the bag. Leaving me with nothing but veggies and rice. I'm beyond upset about this. They need to get it together.

Food was really good and the servers were extremely friendly. The crab fried rice was filled with flavor. The pad thai had such a rich peanut sauce.

I have to admit I've been a complete snob. The fact that this place is located in a small plaza near a liquor store was probably the only reason I never gave it a second thought. My husband and I came here for a Sunday lunch to keep it local and small. We were greeted by a friendly server who seated us immediately. We ordered the Bangkok spicy wings, the gang dang kha (red curry with chicken) and crab fried rice. We also ordered the coconut milk soup and pad thai to-go to take home to our sons. As we waited, we were served some house soup, which I could best describe as chicken broth with rice. It was delicious and hit the spot immediately. I was pleasantly surprised by that welcoming nice touch. Our food came and I loved the gang dang and the spicy wings. The crab fried rice was also yummy- I was able to taste the fresh crab meat. I was really happy with our meal. Later, I had a spoonful of the coconut milk soup and I was legitimately excited and happy that I finally found a Thai spot that hit all my criteria for what I consider to be "good!" Moral of the story- Don't judge a restaurant just because its neighbor is the Chevron gas station.

We have friends that live near Pinole, we drive 2 hours but seriously such great food!!!! We have been several times and have not had anything that we would saw was bad! The service is friendly and pretty quick and the inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated. This time we had the 13, #57, the Masam Beef (it was a special) and the Thai tea. I'm embarrassed to say I didn't take photos of the food but it was fabulous

Hidden gem in El Sobrante that serves up some of the best Laotian and Thai food in the Bay Area…read more Every time we visit, must-orders are the Nam Khao (crispy rice ball salad with fermented pork sausage and fresh herbs) and Ka Soy (Laotian noodle soup). If you see Nam Khao on the menu of a Laotian/Thai restaurant, that means they know what they are doing just because it's so labor-intensive to make a salad(!) and the fermented pork has to be damn-near perfect for this salad to really shine and round out the fresh herbs and seasonings which includes lime juice, vinegar, and fish sauce. Ka Soy (the noodle soup) is a comfort food enjoyed in Southeast Asia. It's not the Thai-style where it's a curry broth and the noodles are fried, so let's not get it mixed up. Instead, it's bone broth that been simmered for hours and it's somewhat a lighter broth. The noodles are wide rice noodles in a big bowl of hot broth served with a mixture of ground pork cooked down with tomatoes along with fresh bean sprouts, scallions, and cilantro - simply a divine noodle soup that a must-try. It's not overly complex in terms of flavor, but it's a bowl of good ol' noodle soup that is comforting and great-tasting. If you haven't tried Laotian food, give Sue's Kitchen a try. try some new flavors and you may just become a regular (if you aren't already). The owners are friendly too! It's a husband-and-wife team!

One of the best Thai restaurants hands and knees down…read more This place consistently delivers some of the best Thai food around, and it never disappoints. Every single dish is amazing, and even though I've developed my go-to staples, there's always something new worth trying. Favorites include the sum woo sen (clear bean thread noodle salad) and the stir-fried eggplant, but honestly, there are so many standout dishes that it's hard to narrow it down. Beyond the food, what really makes this restaurant special is the people behind it. The owner is incredibly friendly, humble, and clearly works nonstop day and night to make sure everything is just right. His wife, the chef, consistently turns out flavorful, thoughtful dishes that you can tell are made with care and pride. They're also very clean and did I say friendly? They make you feel like family or a friend. I also work for a company that regularly orders from here, and we're far from the only ones. Large companies like Chevron, Bio-Rad, Kaiser, and many others frequently order as well. Even more impressive, although the restaurant is located in Richmond, companies in Daly City and other cities 20+ miles away go out of their way to order from here. That alone says a lot. This is a small, lovely Thai restaurant that is truly doing its thing by earning loyal customers, making waves well beyond its neighborhood, and absolutely deserving of the praise it gets. Highly recommended. David and wife, you guys rock! The food, service and friendliness totally satisfies every single time.

Every dish I've had has been thoughtful, balanced, and clearly made with care. On top of that, the people here are genuinely wonderful- pleasant, attentive, and kind in a way that feels authentic, not performative. It's the kind of place that makes you want to come back, not just for the food, but for how welcome you feel. An outstanding family restaurant.

Always down to try food, we drove to this restaurant. Parking was easy and spacious and seating was simple. We went in at opening, so we sat down right away. The table we sat on had their light a bit too high, but it was not too much of a bother. I already had in mind what I wanted to order, so we started with appetizers and a soup, prior to getting our entree. Tom Kha (Coconut Soup): I have had this before at other restaurants, so I wanted to compare it this place. Honestly, it was just alright. It had quite a bit of spice to it, since every soup spoonful had some peppers in it. The mushrooms and chicken were good, and the ginger and lemongrass had a nice herby flavor. But it didn't had the same sour taste I was expecting for this soup. It was a bit more sweeter than I would like. Appetizer combo: You get two of, Chicken Satay, Fried wonton, tofu, fried calamari, and spring roll. This was quite good and a nice starter. My favorite was the fried tofu with the sweet Thai chili for dipping. For the price, it is good to share between two people. Pad Gra Prow (Basil Chicken): Always my favorite at eating at any Thai place. I usually go for Basil "protein" or Eggplant "Protein". The Basil leaves added the flavor I expected from this dish and all the vegetables and chicken worked together. The only thing I was disappointed was the spice level. I wasn't asked (unless that cannot be changed) so it was rather mild in any spice level. If I could have made it spicier, I think the dish would have been perfect for me. Overall, I had a great time here. Food was good and company was great. I can see myself coming back here again.

My mom, sister and I found this place randomly on our way home from salsalito realizing the places would probably be closed by the time we got to Sacramento area. We were looking for a Thai restaurant not necessary Lao food which I am less familiar with. It was about 7:30pm when we arrived on a Saturday night and there was only one gentlemen in the astonishment. The walls were painted cute with bowls of curry with the ingredients for that curry surrounding it. We came for Tom Kha gai soup to warm us up since we had been outside walking around in salsalito and the high of the day was only 51. Unfortunately the restaurant wasn't very warm and cozy like we were hoping. The lady that helped us was super nice though and got us hot water with lemon and even filled up my water bottle with hot water before we left. We just needed a light dinner so we ordered spring rolls with crispy tofu and and Tom Kha soup with chicken to share. food came out fast and was pretty good. Spring rolls were fresh with carrots and cuc / noodles but I don't remember herbs and the dipping sauce was decent. Not super flavorful but good enough. I love flavor so wouldn't have minded some more ginger or spice. Like a not too intense peanut butter sauce. I am not sure if this is normal of Lao thai spring rolls. The Tom Kha gai soup was good, not what I remember exactly from the soup I loved as a teenager but still had the coconut milk base with mushrooms, lemongrass, lime and chicken. Fish sauce stuck out to me in this variation of the soup when I remember only tasting coconut milk and more lime with lemongrass and spices with chicken and veggies. Maybe I just had some damn good Tom Kha gai as I kid lol, but I will keep searching for a spot that can make it like that! Good enough for a quick bite on the road. Thank you for your help and kindness dear!
