*** Vegetarian Review *** Uncle Chungs is in my top two Chinese restaurants. Why you ask? They offer vegetarian meats, the service is super friendly, and as a bonus, they have a full view of the city and bay. Vegetarian Chicken Salad (Grade A+) - the dressing is delicious and the breaded fried "chicken" pieces are amazing. Crunchy and not oily. Everything sits on a bed of fried rice noodles and shredded lettuce. Tip - if you order out, ask for the sauce on the side. Vegetarian Princess Chicken (Grade A+) - another must order and always consistent. I've been ordering this dish for at least 20 years and it only gets better. Lightly breaded fake chicken nuggets in a lightly sweet and lightly spicy sauce. Tip - get the sauce on the side if you order this to go. Vegetarian Lemon Chicken (Grade A+) - Lightly breaded vegetarian chicken patty, cut in slices over a bed of lettuce and lemon sauce. Tip - Sauce on the side ... you get it. Overall, whenever I'm in the area, we will go here. Everyone is so friendly here, the view (especially at night) is eye catching, and their vegetarian menu is one of a kind. read more

We held our granddaughter's Baptism reception here for almost 30 people. The restaurant was conveniently located with a beautiful view. We chose a banquet menu and every dish was delicious. The food here used to be good and my family would order take out frequently. I couldn't remember exactly why we stopped ordering shortly before the pandemic. I remembered why tonight! We ordered the beef chow fun, which had a very strange flavor and the meat seemed older. The hot and sour soup was watery and also quite flavorless with very little meat and tofu. Not only was everything not very good or fresh tasting, it was $60! For 3 items that is an absurd price. I'll never order again. read more

What used to be my favorite lunch spot for Princess prawns or chicken turned into a definite NO THANK YOU!! placed and order for pickup and literally spit it out. Online order -The food was not fresh, the chicken in the rice did not taste flavorful. Even the eggs did not taste fresh and some of the veggies hard in the sweet and sour chicken. Called -the manager was only worried about not wanting to give me a credit. She said next time... I said no thanks I don't want any credit or no $ back just wanted you to be aware since I did waste my money ordering there. They put a lot of pineapples in the rice. Nice to see that Uncle Chung's is still around. Located in a small strip mall off of Appian way. Service was nice and quick. Generous portions with decent prices Green beans were tasty and not salty like other restaurants Sweet and sour pork had a different taste but not bad Beef chow fun was plentiful and better than most places Salt and pepper spareribs were aright. My fave spot thus far for salt and pepper ribs. While the prices sky rocketed after pandemic, its always a spot I turn to when I am craving salt and pepper pork. Service, easily ordered via yelp. The quality of the food over the years has went down. I used to get food for my family at least twice a month. My favorite would be the sweet and sour soup. I would at times just order that in the Large. It was a thick tasty broth with a lot of meat and tofu. Last month I ordered it and it was so runny and bland. So I said every restaurant has a bad day so I waited and ordered it again this week. It was absolutely disgusting to a point I had to dump it. I have supported this business for over 6 years. In saying that I won't support this business again which is really too bad considering I love to support local businesses. I only try this place once...in 2000. What made me return to eat here in 2021? Hunger was my decision to eat here. I only Beef with Broccoli for lunch. My proportion was fulfilling. It made me full. Uncle Chung's has been a spot my fam frequents for decades. The owners are always nice when we dine there. We just recently (literally last night) ordered the Hong Kong style chow mein with crispy noodles was SO good. We also ordered the Peking spare ribs, mushu chicken, and shrimp fried rice. Came here on New Year's eve after going to two other restaurants who were only offering take out. I called and they lady who answered said they were only taking reservations but she could take us now if we came. Haven't been here in about 3 years. We were seated right way. Service was excellent. Server was very helpful and attentive. The food was very good. My favorite item was the mandarin triple crown but everything was delicious. I was given a very nice calendar on our way out. First time diner. Coming from East coast and having my childhood comfort food on the menu . We drove to Pinole from east bay . we Ordered here because of the BBQ spareribs and egg rolls . Loved them both and the crab rangoon !!!! The chicken in the green bean chicken was so tender it melted in our mouths. Moo shu pork needed more flavor. Bbq pork was a little dry but tasty . Was here 2 weeks ago and we tried the tomato beef chow mein which we thought was marvelous, it made us want to come back and try other things. Well today we tried the salt and pepper chicken wings, beef chow fun, and eggplant. Sorry to say we were not impressed with either the chow fun or eggplant which were both pretty bland and tasteless, so unfortunately this review is downgrading to a 3. But the salt and pepper chicken wings were ok and on a previous visit we loved the tomato beef chow mein, so I don't mind giving this place another try despite the tasteless things we got today.
